Kali was having some trouble adjusting to the new pride. It seemed her world had been suddenly turned upside down as she was thrown into a place where males and females were regarded as equal and the color of one’s coat didn’t really matter to most. Creatures she’d never seen before pranced around and a good number of lions didn’t seem quite… right in the head. As if this wasn’t enough, she had started hearing voices and the young girl grew fearful of what it might mean. Were spirits trying to talk to her, disappointed in the path she’s taken… was it a bad omen?

The purple lioness tried to find a secluded place where she could think things through a little farther away from her mother and sister. If only the voices would stop.

Kukesha felt a longing, the longing was lingering and then fading. It was the same feeling she had when someone nearby was fighting the fate that the pride held. No one really knew how to feel about how the pride goes and what is said, but they go with it. It wasn't hard to spot a new face, furrowed with frustration, confusion and worry. Then as if she was pointed out Kukesha spotted the new face.

Purple, as far as her eye could see of the female she was purple, it was EVERYwhere. This didn't drive Kukesha completely nuts, but how could a lioness be so much of simply one color? She'd never met someone so.. Plain? Perhaps her personality was better than what her pelt depicted. "Hello there!?" She called this out in a confused, but friendly manner and walked right up to the female.

Kali turned her head quickly at the sound of the voice. She slowly took in the details regarding the stranger’s appearance, silently trying to place her in a class of her former pride. Colorful with very little of neutral colors, the older lioness would’ve probably been a Ghast in the Kunanda, a rank above Kali.

“Hello!” the purple lioness replied cheerfully, dark eyes travelling through the green markings, the little star, the yellow stripes, the wing and the red and yellow accents of her mane and tail tuft. There was so much to see! Finally, the young lioness’ pitch black eyes met the pale gaze of the other lioness. “I’m new here. I my family just moved here from the Kunanda’Nakhun. I’m Bagha’Kali but most just call me Kali.” Her former pride was all she’d ever known and at the moment it felt strange that anyone hadn’t heard about it. She didn’t even acknowledge that possibility.

Kukesha let her head tilt in question. "Pride wha~?" She paused briefly, an honest question, asked with honest eyes. She was an innocent adult that seemed to remain a child on most days. Not knowing to to much and behaving listlessly. She tried a few times to pronounce it to reask her question than gave up.

"Where is that?" She asked, a smile on her face. She loved hearing about new members past lives. She saw the others face was a little disgruntled about it all.

“Kunanda, Kunanda!” Kali repeated with a slight frown as if not quite believing that someone could not know her former pride. She had certainly been told of the Kizingo’zaa – and very few good things really. She paused to consider the lioness’ question for a few moments. “It’s not very far… it’s in a very deep jungle. I came with my mother and my sister.”

She took one look around, wondering if her family was nearby but only saw strangers going about their daily lives.

“Things are very different here. I think it will take some time to get used to it all.” Many things still confused the young girl and the whispers, though easily accepted by the rest of the pride as they appeared to be, frightened her greatly.

Kukesha watched the girl with an even more curious brow, did this one think repeating the name would get memories stirring that didn't exist? That aside she seemed nice, just razzled. "Why did your family come here then?" The curiosity flowed smoothly, falling from question to more questions. "What's a jungle like?" She pauses and sits, waggling her a tail a little.

"Do you like it here? I mean we do try our best to be nice as can be. Well some of us. There's dark parts I guess you could avoid?" Crazy as a loon, she was. Her smile was sincere though and she honestly was just concerned. She hoped that the family was happy here, even if the girl seemed a bit skittish.

“Well, mom wasn’t happy about some things in our old pride so she wanted to leave. My sister and I decided to stay with her. I still have two brothers there.” She paused to consider the blue lioness’ questions. She looked somewhat amused and Kali was happy to oblige her curious mood. “The jungle? It’s full of trees and shade. It’s nice.”

“Everyone has been really nice here. Even though a lot of things are different, I think we’ll find a way to adjust. Hey, what’s your name?“ She looked suddenly concerned. “What… what dark parts?” Oh, she hoped this wasn’t about the whispers… Kali would rather think they were a figment of her imagination and not something real like... like spirits. A shiver ran down her spine at the mere thought.

Kukesha observed the other female bizarrely, almost as if she hadn't been in the same conversation and thus she replied slowly, unsure of where she should be going with the question and the rest of the statements. "That is... good to hear?" Her questioning looks were met with a question, had she been talking about bad parts? What bad parts?... "Oh.." She said to herself, gazing slightly to her left, then her right, then straight at the female.

"Those bad parts, they can be dark and self-absorbed." She began laughing softly, heart a flutter and eyes skittishly glancing about, her paws danced a little under her and she felt suddenly compelled to run. The whispers haunted her deeply, she could feel it course through her blood when she sat to still and so the thumping of her heart became this dark place.

"You have to watch out, or they'll get you." She stared hard at the her. "My name is Kukesha, Kukesha`Usiku." Her face contorted into a very calm smile and it seemed that some unknown storm had passed and she was simply right as rain, happy go-lucky, as if nothing happened.

As a shiver ran down her spine, Kali’s eyes widened until she looked as if she was about to bolt. She looked around to make sure they were alone and then looked back at Kukesha. The purple lioness’ ears, however, never did stop moving, swiveling in every direction as if hoping to catch the faintest of sounds.

“It’s… nice to meet you.” She gulped. For someone who had been raised to be a great huntress and warrior, Kali sure was skittish about all things related to the ethereal. She spoke again, quietly and slowly, with an almost cautious expression. “Have you ever seen them?” Part of her wished she hadn’t asked that question.

"Kali, Kali..." She whispered softly, giving a nod to the females 'nice to mee
t you'. "You don't see them. They watch you." She moved forward, a smirk, a cruel cruel grin warped the pale lionesses face as she crept towards the skittish Kali. "Their eyes see all, their enjoyment is the look on your face you have right now..." She stopped just a foot away, dramatically looking about a moment before locking eyes. "I better get going... I've probably told you to much as it is."

Fear seemed to drench the pale lioness entirely and that was it, her legs moved her like a bullet fresh from a gun. She wheeled away fast as her paws could carry her, this left Kali alone. Darkness, the second reason for Kukesha's rushed exit seemed to begin crawling over the worlds surface around them.

But it didn't take long, Kukesha was gone.

So… The whispers were real. They were dark and watched the lions without being seen, taking pleasure in their fear. And if one wasn’t careful, they would “get you”. Sure, not creepy at all.

...

Oh, hell no! To what kind of Gods-forsaken pride had her mother brought them to?!

The pale lioness’ abrupt departure didn’t exactly ease Kali’s wariness as much as created the impression that Something Bad was about to come out of hiding and attack her. Kali froze for a few moments, unable to say anything before Kukesha’s shape had disappeared from view. She took one deep breath forcing her legs not to tremble, counted to three and then assumed a defensive posture, whirling around in search of any potential dangers before she, too, ran away from the spot. She needed to find her sister and be comforted and it had to be right now!
