Kiarei was very glad that the weather was favorable on the day that she was supposed to deliver herbs to the Academy. While the journey wasn't incredibly long it was still nice to travel in sunlight and warmth instead of beneath an overcast sky. Due to the length of the trip and to the fact that she'd be wandering through the Academy she had donned sandals, liking how the ribbon holding them in place and winding around her lower legs matched her dress.
When she finally arrived she stared up at the walls of the Academy and smiled, her eyes hooding a little as she remembered the years that she had spent there. So many years of endless practice and patience, of friendship as well as hardship and, now, here she was again... Only as a Witch. She entered through the front doors, peering about and greeting a few of the teachers she recognized, smiling fondly.
It took her a few minutes to re-orient herself with the school but, finally, she found herself entering the office of the potions professor. They exchanged pleasantries as Kia dropped off the herbs requested, along with a few extra that she thought would benefit the school; after all, she couldn't thank the Academy enough for helping her get where she was. After a few moments of polite banter Kiarei gave a small bow and excused herself.
Humming softly Kia strode down the halls again, admittedly not paying a great deal of attention as to where she was walking due to her fascination. From recent memory she new to round a corner to take her back towards the front doors and did so, not bothering to look around it as she did. She gasped as she collided into something quite solid, something that she soon recognized to be a person, not a statue or pillar. Her hands flew to her mouth in distress over what she had done; how could she be so inconsiderate?
"I-I'm so sorry! Are you alright?"

For Rajih, It had been another beautiful day at the academy. Ever since he joined he had been slowly getting a more normal grip with what he liked to think of his...powers. He had been careful in the academy, very very careful to hide his siphoning. He only took when he felt weak and drained, careful not to let the raging beast inside him take over and go on a rampage of witch heart hunting. It was difficult if not exhausting his being, but it was made up from the sheer joy of meeting other students that accepted him regardless of him being a Majin.
He was slowly ever so slowly returning to his dreamy romantic self. In his hand he even carried a few romance books, so that he could read of true love all over again. He also carried spell books, books of astronomy and those on herbology. He was after all at an academy where magic was taught and he was intent on finding a way to channel his siphoned powers into a more solid theme of magic.
So deep in his thoughts of reading, studying and learning the craft, he had barely registered that a girl was headed straight for him and when they collided, was more stunned by the fact that he had felt another nauseating wave of powerful magic. A monoke. That was his first instinctual thought, though it was quickly cleared as he noticed that his large pile books laid scattered at their feet and the girl was apologizing profusely at him. His hunger for magic had been sated at the moment, though he wouldn't deny that the magic that the Monoke sent off did tantalize him in a small way. He busied his hands with something else so that he didn't take from her that which she hadn't allowed him to have.
"Ah." He bent his head down to peer at her, the little lady was certainly on the more gorgeous side, white hair with white ears. A odd dress he was sure was called a kimono, her red eyes we're surrounded by odd red markings but overall, she was a pretty little thing. His eye's, usually a deep broody green lightened as he gave her a small smile. "I'm sorry about that as well Little Lady, Did I hurt you?-" he chuckled as she asked if he was alright at almost the same moment he did and bent down to start retrieving his books, "Oh I am fine little lady. Your too small of a build to do any damage, plus it was just as my fault. Daydreaming about books again." He smiled softly again, looking up at her from his bent position on the ground as he gestured to the large amount of them on the ground, "Afraid I've been caught up in all the excitement of the school."

Kiarei watched him bend down to pick up the books and bit her lip, crouching down in attempt to assist him. However she couldn't seem to quite figure out where to put her hands or which book to pick up to avoid selecting the same one as the boy. Thus, after a few moments she stopped trying altogether, frustrated tears rising in her eyes before she quickly wiped them away; now was not the best time for her to get emotional.
"I-I... I'm fine." she answered softly, lowering her gaze to the floor in embarrassment and guilt. "I-it was my fault too... I... I used to go here... So... I got a little nostalgic and..."
Kia bit her lip before slowly moving to stand again, especially since it was pointless for her to be crouched down as she was. After all, he was probably perplexed by her odd nature and attire, as well as her appearance. Over the years she had grown used to the looks and the awkward situations, but she didn't want to cause any undue discomfort. At the mention of classes she slowly tilted her head, her tail flicking a little in interest.
"O-oh... Yes... It is quite exciting the first few years..." she bit her lip, absently toeing at the ground before looking back to the young man before her. "I... I just deliver herbs here now... But... I miss walking the halls here... and being a student..."

Had Rajih noticed the tears of frustration, he would've offered another gentle smile and pushed a book towards her to pick up, but he didn't and so moved quickly to pick the books up, the same gentle smile was plastered on his face as he stacked them back up to hold, the weight not a problem at the moment.
"Ah did you really? I've heard that the academy takes in many students, to see such a powerful witch as yourself stem from here gives me great hope for my future magic enhancement!" He would've patted her on the head, but such familiarities were reserved for friends, family or a lover and since he was none of the three above, he settled for moving the books around and speaking gently to her. "It must be nice to come back like this every now and again, do you live nearby?" He continued to smile gently at her, trying not to worsen her already sad mood, and for some reason, he felt that she was an extremely delicate flower, one that need very good care and patience lest she wilt into something else.
"Ah, That makes it even more comforting to hear! Again I have heard a great many things about the academy, I'm glad to know i came to such a good place. Especially for a rouge like myself." He winked at her, though his words had a lilt of sadness in them. He would've said outcasted but he didn't know the girl and wasn't going to burden her with his own emotional issues. "Herbs? ah, do you practice healing magics then? or maybe potions?" He peered at her curiously before thinking of a good idea. "Ah well, If you miss walking the halls maybe you can help me with something! See I do have too many books to carry and a long way to go, Would you like to help me carry them to my dorm? That way you can walk around and see things from your past, and I can learn more about the prestigious Academy." he offered all of the above with the same gentle smile. He wasn't afraid of her rejection if she did give it to him, he could understand nervousness and wariness in another being. "My name's Rajih by the way. Its a pleasure to meet you Little lady." He chuckled.

"P-powerful?" she blinked at the comment before flushing a little and averting her eyes. "I-I'm not... Really all that powerful..."
Kiarei felt oddly soothed by the boy before her, but was still upset due to her carelessness. She needed to remember to always look around corners and pay attention, like she did when she was going to school. It was never good to forget everything one learned at school after so little time had passed since her graduation. Perhaps it was a good thing that the Academy wanted her to make more deliveries in the future... So she would not forget her roots or the lessons she had learned within the walls of the school.
"Oh... Yes. I live in Clarus Arbor." she admitted softly, eyes sliding to the ground, then back up the boy before her. "It is a wonderful place to broaden one's knowledge concerning magic."
Her head tilted a little at the boy's tone, expression sobering a little as he spoke. There was something different about him though she couldn't quite place what caused her to think that. Perhaps it was the way he emphasized a word here in there or, perhaps, the way that he seemed so polite and kind. Very few of the boys in her graduating class had ever showed her such kindness and even fewer of the girls.
"Ah.. Yes... I am a healer." Kiarei smiled at the boy before her ears perked a little at the suggestion. "Oh... That would be nice, indeed. Some days I really do miss it... Attending classes, making friends..."
Honestly very little lasting friendships had come from the school and, even the ones that lasted, hadn't lasted for long. Despite her train of thought she smiled at the boy before her and held out her hands in offering. She was short and a little slight of build, but she was far from physically weak. She did tend to a garden all day, after all.
"My name is Kiarei. It's very nice to meet you as well."

Ah, she had flushed. Rajih had to resist the urge to pat her head again, in pure affection. She was too adorable and it was sad that he wasn't able to get to know her as a student, but wouldn't dwell on that. His past after all always lead to one thing, a reminder. Majin.
"Yes powerful. I hear Monoke's are very rare prodigies." He stated that like a fact and smiled at her again, "There are things that you could do, that would take years, if not ever, for me to learn." He shifted the books too look at her.
"Oh that's not bad of a travel yes? You must like the walk though otherwise you wouldn't do it." He grinned at her, thinking of how she must travel all alone, and though she was a powerful witch, he hoped she kept safe in between the academy and the town.. "Ah, you do keep safe on those walks yes? Sometimes roads can be dangerous." He let worry crease his fore head bringing his brows down together in thought.
Ah....Her ears. He noticed them now as more expressive features as they twitched in, what he thought was happiness at the suggestion. "Do you not have those same friends in Clarus Arbor? I don't see why anyone wouldn't like to visit such a nice girl like yourself!" He let her take a small stack of books and joined her side companionably, though he didn't get close enough to touch here. Safe rather than sorry.
"A pretty name for a Pretty little lady. Kiarei." He let it roll of his tongue before the small soft smile replaced his deep thought, "Ah, well tell me about the Academy then? I can see its a very interesting place so far. Your the second full witch I have met though. What was your favorite thing here?"

Kiarei blinked before smiling a little. "Most students simply think I'm odd. They don't think that I might be a Mononoke. We're rare these days."
Usually only the most studious of the Academy students seemed to actually recognize her for what she was, otherwise she simply received odd looks for her ears and tail. Admittedly it was quite nice to be recognized for what she actually was and be admired for it instead of bullied as she used to be. Part of her hoped that, perhaps, more people from this generation of the Academy would be like Rajih and be more open-minded and fascinated with the magic in their world.
"It is not bad, no." Kia agreed before laughing softly at his concern. "Oh, I'm fine. A short walk never hurt anyone."
Kiarei took the small stack of books before blinking at the question, canting her head to the side before her eyes hooded and she looked down towards the ground. Anymore she was rarely visited by anyone that wasn't looking to do business with her. Most of her friends from the Academy had moved on and lived in the city, attempting to make their own way in the world. None of her old friends had visited her in months, since the first few months after they had graduated together.
"Ah... I don't have many friends." She answered simply, offering a sheepish smile before flushing a little at the compliment. "Oh... Thank you..."
At the request she looked thoughtful, peering around the hall they were in before giving him a small smile in response. One would have thought that she knew the school inside and out since she had spent much of her young adult life within its halls. However she was mostly familiar with the classrooms and the female doms. Kiarei had not really explored the wonders of the school like many of her friends had.
"It is a very interesting place... Though... My favorite place was the Library. I studied a lot."

"Odd?" Rajih looked over at her before frowning, "How can students -not- know what you are? Don't they read books? Or look at the teachers or other people of the world? Your not the first Mononoke nor will you be the last I would assume." He shifted his books and hesitantly reached out to pat her on the head, right between her ears. "I won't deny that your a rare kind though, not many pretty Mononoke's around the school." He joked with her, attempting to bring up the pretty part because well, she was pretty.
"Short walk might not hurt anyone but yourself, If you ever feel the need to walk late at night or don't feel safe, you should come find me?" Rajih smiled and then frowned, "Well except if you have to walk from the village to come find me late at night because that would defeat the purpose of offering myself...." he flushed and chuckled. He was sure being odd but the girl looked so innocent and he truly liked to protect those he usually grew fond of.
"I'm sorry." He stated sadly, he knew how it was now not to have any friends save a select few. "It must be because we're different." He shrugged and continued to walk.
"Odd! I love the Library as well, I am quite the reader and I like the smell of books and dust that every library has." He joked, "Though I haven't found what I want to study yet as far as magic."

"I am not certain why. However it is nice to know that some know of and respect Mononoke." Kia smiled brightly at the boy next to her, shifting the books a little in her arms. "Perhaps some simply don't really believe we exist... Or some may be jealous and thus prone to disbelief."
She laughed softly at the joke, flushing a little at the compliment and the gentle pat before shifting to begin to walk to the dorms, certain that Rajih would follow her as she did so. It had been a while since she had been complimented so much by a girl, let alone a boy. A part of her warmed a little in response to the kind words, each one making her feel a bit better about herself. It was a good thing, too, since it would be difficult to be a timid Ars Lilium.
"I think I will be alright. If anything I can transform and outrun whatever is trying to hurt me." she murmured, smiling warmly at him. "But thank you! Nobody has offered to accompany me anywhere before."
Kiarei continued to look around them as they walked, blinking at the boy's apology before smiling warmly at him. After a while she had come to accept that having less friends sometimes was better as it meant that they were closer to you in many ways. Perhaps now that she was out of the Academy she could begin to make more friends, especially since she was an herbalist.
"Maybe we'll make more friends eventually because we're different." the mononoke offered, brightening a little at the mention of their common love of the Library. "Oh... I do as well. I love the feel and smell of libraries! Maybe when you're studying you'll find something that interests you?"
It had taken her quite some time at the Academy to determine that her heart truly laid in healing and peaceful magics as to opposed to many of her classmates. Perhaps she would never be a fighter, but she would always be there to tend to those that did fight to protect the kingdom. Thus, she thought, in a way she fought for the Kingdom as well, just in a different way.
"What are you best at, if I may ask?"

"Interesting way to see it, though I think it makes it lonelier for you. I should encourage people to study Mononokes then. I thought all people knew about them because you guys are considered prodigies!" He joked, a little wary of the school's knowledge base, even in his small town, Rajih had always known who was the top of the witch chain and who was the bottom, the latter being his kind the Majin's and their advancements into the world.
"Ah! I totally forgot about that! If you don't mind me asking, but what do you transform into? I imagine either a White cat or a White wolf." He cocked his head at her ears and tail attempting to recognize them to a animal. "Ah well anytime really, Such a pretty girl like yourself shouldn't be troubled by other people...." he flushed and looked down, those weren't the words he meant. "Sorry I mean, People shouldn't pick or rob you or anything like that. I mean....ah...." He slapped a palm to his forehead and just went quiet.
"Yes, The Library does set up a perfect scene for studying." He spoke again, glad to change the subject to something other then his bumbling chivalrous ways. "I have found many things though, but in truth, I rather read a romance novel at the library. Big fan of Romance." He joked again, pleased to settle in easy conversation again.
"Best at?" He thought of what he had started to excel in at the school, "Evocation magics and Illusionary Magics are where I seem to stand out. Though I don't have a clear element to call my own yet. It seems I'm talented in Shadow craft of Illusion magics though." He smiled at her thinking of the small amount of magical energy burst he could explode and then the tricks he had with Shadows, one which he was hard at developing was making a weapon mixed with the Evocation magic and Shadow together, so far it was only a mess of magic that formed into a dripping ball of his shadows and colored magic. Part of him believed that it was because of the fact that his magic was weaker then any of the students, mostly due to his complex of not taking magic from other students. "I was just looking at books to help me define if I should put my magic into a elemental status and drop the Shadowcraft."

"It can be lonely... But it isn't bad. I am a witch like everyone else, after all..." Kiarei trailed off, her eyes turning towards the arched ceiling they walked beneath.
During all her years at the Academy she hadn't really lonely per say, since she had had a few close friends, but she had always felt very different, almost like an outsider. However that never really distracted her from her studies or from focusing on what she wished to be and what she would do after graduation. Oddly it seemed to merely stimulate her urge to help others, to be a useful member of witch society, perhaps cause them to recognize that she was a good witch without judging her by her Mononoke status for good or for ill. Her ears perked a little at Rajih's question however, the words drawing her attention away from her own internal monologue.
"Oh... A wolf." she answered, smiling warmly of him before giggling softly and turning her gaze back to the floor as they walked. "Well... I haven't been robbed... Or anything like that, really. I just get teased sometimes is all. Nothing really harmful."
Kiarei nodded in response to the comment about the library. She remembered pouring over various books about the healing arts for hours, practicing when she could even though practicing on injured animals had made her feel horrible. The librarian there always made her feel better about her studies and assisted where he could, making her understand things better and get her pronunciation correct.
"Oh... I never read things like that." she mused, smiling brightly at him. "Though I'm sure many of the girls here would find that to be 'cute'."
Kiarei's ears perked as the boy next to her began to explain was what magical fields he was best at, smiling warmly, eyes hooding. She was never really good at illusionary magic... Or really evocation either. Her skills with Shadowcraft, also, left much to be desired, but, she supposed, that was why she was so good at Conjuration; one couldn't really be amazing at everything.
"I believe that you should do whatever feels right. Do what you enjoy." Kia suggested, her smile never fading. "If you enjoy what you do does it matter that you aren't necessarily the best at it?"

"That's true, You are a witch after all, and in our growing world, there seems to be many of us popping up." He winked at her. "Ah I knew it! I could kinda of tell by the ears and tail. I met another Wolf Mononoke when I was a kid, though she had black ears and a tail. She was a Ars Lilium too, and such a pretty witch. I bet you'll be as pretty as her when you grow up too." He nodded.
"People pick on you? that's just rude." He spat out, ashamed of the people who would pick on such a cute girl like Lia herself. What possessed people to do cruel things? Jealousy? Resentment? Whatever the reason, Rajih frowned at the actions that were directed at Kia. Honestly, since he had met the girl he had developed the need to protect her, which was a bit sudden but darn it, she was too cute and nice and probably naive to be wandering around.
"No romance novels?" Rajih stopped in shock, all thought of beating unknown teasers dropped from his head as he stared shell shocked at her. "Kiarei, Do you not believe in the power of love? The power of one soul mate to another, finding each other in the heat of passion like it was always meant to be?" He dropped his books to take her hands in his and stare into her eyes, "Romance novels are not cute but Serious my friend! Why, the show the true example of how men should be wooing women!" He dropped her hands as he felt the heat of her magic flow in, forgetting that he was a Majin at the moment before quickly dropping down to grab the books he had dropped just moments before.
"That is very true, but in my case, I need to excel at something so I can protect people." He smiled at her, "My magic won't be enjoyed unless I have my full potential unlocked so that I can best serve to protect!" His fist clenched as he continued on the path to where they were going, not clearly defining why he had such a need to "protect."

At the news that Rajih had met another like her Kia's ears perked and she blinked, turning and tilting her head slightly in curiosity. Yes, she knew that there were more than just mononoke in the world but knowing two wolf mononoke had to be more than a little unusual. She felt her cheeks reddening a little at the compliment the boy tacked onto the end of his sentence, her head bowing a little and eyes hooding slightly.
"I hope so..." Kiarei breathed, looking a little sad at that.
When she was a girl she had never felt herself to be extraordinarily pretty, really, especially not when she spent a rather large portion of her days assisting her parents with herbalism. Usually she could be found covered in dirt and with smudges on her face, something she had been teased about when she was very young, before she even had ears and a tail. Even when looking at herself in the mirror she never really found herself all that pretty, like all the other girls. To her she looked just like they all said she did; strange, weird, dirty... She hoped one day she would be as beautiful as Rajih predicted she would be.
She was jarred from her thoughts by the boy's next words, causing her to blink then smile a little. "Most feel threatened by what they can not have or what they do not understand."
Even to Kiarei's own ears the words felt hollow but she wasn't really certain if Rajih would be able to notice; they were words she had gotten used to reciting over the years in hopes of convincing herself they were true. However her lack of confidence always seemed to win out over simple words, causing her to revert back to believing what they all said. Though, recently, it was becoming a little difficult to believe the bad when many of those she had met seemed to only point out the good in her. It was beginning to make the poor mononoke a little confused and uncertain as to what to believe at that point.
Kia blinked, stopping so abruptly that she almost stumbled. She turned her head to look at Rajih with wide eyes, feeling, suddenly, as if she had done or said something horribly wrong. Was it bad to not read romance novels? She had spent so much time studying and memorizing the various herbs she would use in the healing arts that she had never really had a chance to read anything romantic. However when Rajih took her hands, causing the books she held to tumble to the ground, she flushed brightly, her eyes a little wide and slowly beginning to fill with tears. Quickly she bowed her head and closed her eyes, trying to force the tears back; sometimes she hated that she was so emotionally weak at times. In her emotional struggle she almost missed the shift of her magic, the slight change in its flow.
"I-I'm sorry... I never... Had time to read many books except for school books." she breathed, sounding truly guilty as she crouched down to gather up the books she had dropped, uncertain as to whether or not to bring up the instant of magical drain she had felt; she didn't want to offend him, after all...
"Well... It is good to aspire to protect." Kiarei mused, smiling at him as she began to walk again. "But make sure you are happy as well. There is no value in power without love and happiness."

Rajih so badly wanted to hug the little Mononoke but refrained from doing so just in case. He always had those urges with the little cute beings and so far, All the mononokes he had met had been female. He fondly remembered the other Wolf girl.
"Do you want me to tell you about the other Mononoke? She's living in Claus Arbor now I believe, selling dream-catchers." Thought it had been awhile since he had seen the girl, and she said she had come from a nomadic clan of humans that traveled their small island. Brushing it aside, he continued to shift his weight with the books he held and looked over at her, noticing the little flush before grinning. She was cute when she blushed after all.
"Don't hope so Kia, Know so." He would've flicked her nose if not for the pile of books in his hands and instead relied on a waggling of eyebrows and funny faces. "You have many features about you that could be defined as pretty now. A slim figure, A shining kindness, you've got this faint little blush that just makes me want to squeeze you to death." Rajih huffed a breath before he scared her away. His one true weakness was Mononoke really, or anything cute. Phil fell under that category, as well as Theo. Those two were cute as well and Rajih either loved to mess with them or...friend them.
"I can relate." Rajih nodded at her comment before going into a brooding stage. He was a Majin to her Mononoke right, though she was more accepted then he was, he could still relate to the fear of what couldn't be understood. Moving on to a brighter subject, he listened to her. His books dropped as well as hers as he grabbed her hands and gave his little speech of Romance before picking them up with her.
"Ah Kia, One day when you visit again, you should come see me. I can pick many romance novels for you to read." He grinned, lamenting only a second on the fact that he had siphoned her magic. It was inexcusable but he had yet to learn his control over it after all.
"It is indeed." He smiled at her again, "Ah....one day I will find love and happiness. Maybe in the future." he nodded again, and sighed. Though who would like a Majin boy besides Phil and Graveyard?

"Dream catchers?" she questioned, blinking before smiling. "Yes, please tell me. Maybe I can meet her."
All it took was Rajih's next comment to deepen the flush that had been blossoming in her cheeks. She wasn't certain how to handle such praise aside from lowering her head shyly, trying to hide the fact that she was blushing at all. She bit her lip when he finished speaking, hesitantly lifting her head to peer at him from between the hair that framed her face. Perhaps it was all an elaborate jest? It was very difficult for her to believe that anything Rajih was telling her was correct.
"Thank you..." Kia finally breathed, opting to accept the compliment for the time being.
Her attention was drawn by he next comment, causing her to tilt her head a little, looking a little perplexed. From what she had seen so far, Rajih seemed like a normal boy when it came to Academy students, really. She couldn't see anything incredibly off about him aside from, well, his extreme love for romance novels. Most boys that she had gone to school with had not enjoyed romance at all. Other than that small detail she couldn't see a reason for him to relate at all... Unless it was something she couldn't see or perhaps something he hadn't shown personality-wise yet.
"How?" she hesitantly asked, genuinely curious.
Kia blinked at the offer before smiling a little at the prospect of coming back to visit. She would certainly try before graduation, that was for sure, but this time of year was actually when she was the most busy. Hopefully she would be able to visit Rajih before he himself graduated. If not, well, she wasn't certain where he actually lived, and she would be a little sad if she never saw him again.
"I will try, Rajih. Hopefully I will see you again before you graduate from the Academy." she mused, smiling warmly as she voiced her concerns.
At the next comment she blinked, honestly surprised, as they continued to walk towards the dorms. Why wouldn't he be able to find love? She thought he was a very sweet and charming boy, one who seemed very romantic which was any girl's dream. Kiarei offered him another smile, shaking her head a little in disbelief as she shifted and books in her arms a little.
"I don't think you will struggle at all with that." she mused, still smiling.
