At a Glance

Name: Nyasa Freeman

Nicknames:

Gender: Female

Age: 21 22

Birthday: February 17

Sign: Aquarius

Gemstone: Amethyst

Bloodtype: A

Occupation: EMT Gang member

Fav. Food: Fried food, Pickles, French Fries, Anything caffeinated

Hated Food: Candy (Chocolate not included), Jello, Meatloaf

Hobbies:

  • Studying/Practicing Medicine = As a former EMT, Nyasa already has a better then average understanding of first aid. Although she has quit her job, her dedication to the Negaverse and desire to be useful has resulted in Nyasa embarking on a self-education of medicine. When possible, she spends at least a couple of hours per night pouring over textbooks and viewing instructional videos.

  • The Word on the Street = There are a lot of opportunities out there for those that know how to find them or make them, and Nyasa does both. She seeks out the people who can be paid to not ask questions. She finds the less reputable pawn shops where stolen goods can be sold. She can find landlords and employers willing to turn a blind eye to her comrades' youth.

  • Clubbing = When Nyasa isn't patrolling, studying, or gathering information, this is the one leisure activity that she still engages in. Dancing is a form of exercise, an excuse she uses to justify enjoying it. Of course, there's really no way to justify her alcohol consumption and other party-related indulgences, a fact she tries not to dwell on.

Virtues:

  • Dedicated = Nyasa takes her role as a Negaverse officer very seriously; very seriously. She wants to be known as a loyal, useful, and efficient soldier. Nyasa’s civilian life and leisure time play second fiddle to her Negaverse duties. She studies continuously, improving her medical knowledge to provide better aid to her comrades. She is rarely idle on patrol, exercising or working on human contacts while waiting for an opportune time to collect energy or attack Senshi. She has quit her day job so she can dedicate more of her time to the Negaverse.

  • Practical = All of the carpet in Nyasa’s apartment is covered in plastic carpet protector wrap and her living room is home to a vinyl reclining beach chair. Why? Practicality. Due to her service in the Negaverse and her role as a Negaverse medic, blood is a common sight in her apartment. Cleaning and/or explaining blood stains is a hassle, so Nyasa sought to avoid the problem all together by covering her carpet and obtaining a cheap piece of washable furniture. It’s not pretty, but it works, and that’s all she cares about.

This practicality extends to other parts of her life as well. She doesn't believe in doing things that don't serve a purpose, like whining; whining is never useful. She can keep secrets with her to the grave, but only if she sees a point in doing so. She has no qualms with blurring moral lines - stealing, killing - if it'll give her an advantage or if it serves the greater good.

  • Calm = Nyasa seems like a cool cat. It's hard to get her ruffled. When everyone else is angry or panicking, Nyasa is able to keep a level head. She doesn't fall apart under pressure and can think on her feet. This was a great asset when she was an EMT. It is also useful in her more recent gang dealings, hiding potential weaknesses from those that would exploit them while letting her seem confident and in control of the situation. She still hasn't gotten over the heebie-jeebies that dead, preserved things - trophy animal heads, organs in jars - give her though. As of late, Nyasa has also begun to find regular civilians to be trying.

Flaws: ((Note: Heading towards this.))
  • Disconnected = Nyasa doesn't really form close connections to people. She has trouble truly seeing people as people, so instead of caring about their personalities, feelings, or virtues, her is instead interested in people's usefulness and competence. For example, she might feel a twinge over the fact that her comrade's parents died, but after what she considers a reasonable period of time - reasonable to her most likely being very short to others - she expects them to be back in action and on top of their game.

During her civilian interactions Nyasa feigns interest in others, but as she spends more and more time surrounding herself in her Negaverse duties, her mask is slipping. As a soldier of the Negaverse, she considers herself apart from mere civilians, seeing them as something akin to sheep. When forced to interact with them, her polite nods and half-smiles are often coupled with blank or cold eyes, which can understandably turn people off. Also, Nyasa's calmness and patience with civilians is begining to shorten. After all, why should she waste so much time and energy on sheep? If a civilian manages to irritates her - and they can do so far more easily then a powered character - she's more prone to snapping at them or draining their energy.

  • Deceptive = No, Nyasa doesn't care about your love drama or school trouble. She'll say she does, listen, and nod in all the right places, but she doesn't really care. Maybe you'll be grateful she listened; Nyasa finds grateful people useful. If you're her superior, maybe it'll earn her brownie points, which she understands the value of. Nyasa has no qualms faking emotion and sincerity if she feels it'd be useful, and she also has no qualms with outright lying. She has long since developed an excellent poker face and uses it frequently. That's not to say that her bluff is never called though, and for some strange reason people tend to be less then thrilled when they realize they've been played.

  • Why So Serious? = Nyasa doesn't have much in the way of a sense of humor. She occasionally indulges in sarcasm and banter, but she has no appreciation for things like slapstick or knock-knock jokes. As a result, she sometimes has trouble telling when someone is joking and humor is often lost on her. Start talking about two Jews and a bar and you'll just get a blank look from her.

Also, there are certain things that Nyasa deems frivilous and silly, and thus doesn't do. This includes things like joy-riding, window shopping, playing board games and video games, and more. Her being all serious and looming in a corner is kinda awkward at best, so it's best to skip sending her a party invitation.

Stoic sounds too positive right now. It highlights how her lack of emotions allows her to function better in the Negaverse. Make sure you add in why, specifically, this causes problems for her or has a negative effect on her daily life.

Quote:
Self-Destructive = Nyasa isn’t interested in getting herself killed or getting in trouble with her superiors, but at the same time she doesn’t take very good care of herself. Between studying, patrolling, and hitting the streets, she doesn’t have a lot of spare time and doesn’t give things such eating and sleeping a high priority. She doesn't mean to work herself until she drops - she knows she wouldn't be useful then - and yet she doesn't pay as close attention to her health as she should, flirting with the red zone on occasion.

I think this one is too positive as well. I underlined and bolded the issues for me. This is really a trait about how she is really dedicated to the Negaverse, which is positive. You say that she sometimes overdoes it -- but then you immediately backtrack by saying she doesn't do it "until she drops" and that it only has a negative effect on her "on occasion." This seems too positive, I think. Is she irritable? Does she ignore everything else? Does she lose track of important things because her schedule is so crazy? Is she slowly killing herself with training and no sleep? Make sure you don't give her a big out of a flaw. Saying it is not typically an issue for her negates its importance as a flaw.

SELF-RESTRICTED and STOIC read like they are saying the same thing right now. I would combine them to talk about how she is emotionally detached and how that causes problems for her.

Otherwise, this is solid to me!

Changed and consolidated some stuff. Is that better?

Self-Destructive seems more like a collection of hobbies than a negative trait. You need to put how it's an unpleasant part of her personality, and how it negatively affects other people, as the main focus of this flaw! I'd recommend addressing Casey's questions again and attempt to show how this makes Mica unfun to be around: right now it's all very solitary and won't affect RP with other characters much.

In addition, Stoic could probably use just a little more sprucing up to make it seem more negative. You could easily expand on her coldness and say that she's as interested in other people's emotions as she is on her own, so she's not the best person to talk to about your problems?

I would also recommend adding a third flaw to keep her profile balanced. You shouldn't have more virtues than flaws! Having a character who is all stoic all the time makes it kind of difficult to figure more things out... so just as a suggestion, I'd recommend something that makes it possible to break her otherwise cool composure. She can handle huge crisis situations just fine, but does she have any mundane pet peeves that can be played on?

Updated. I changed a lot with the flaws. I think refocusing on where I'm heading with her helped with the flaws. I feel like the flaws are there now, I'm just not sure if I sorted/worded them properly. If anything her virtues might need help now. xD
