She'd been asked via groanspring to teach the petite doll-like Baku a few methods of defense and/or attacks of the basic nature. Levi had seen this ghoul up close and she really wasn't the fighting sort by the looks of things... yet she wanted to learn. That was step one; if Xiu had the drive to learn how to take someone down, the tatzel was glad to help her try to do so.

Looking about her dorm room, Levi nodded in approval at everything being tidy and in order before going around with her watering can to feed her vines. With her door wide open as usual, the faint sugar smell of candy corn could be caught on the draft. In preparation for the training, Levi wore black bands on her hands and feet as well as black leggings and a white tank top. Ready for action. The ghoul figured slimmer clothing would help Xiu to see movements more easily than if she was in her fluffier wears. She binded her hair back into a ponytail to continue this thought. It was all about the practicality when dressing.

Once her work was done, the white haired ghoul walked barefoot across her unfinished wooden floor to a corner of her room where a slew of pillows crowded the space. This would be their base for practice. Dropping down among the pillows, Levi flipped the switch on her now-working SkeeV and curled into the pile, resting idly before her company would arrive.

To say that she was nervous would have been a severe understatement--she was so pale that it looked as if she were about to pass out. Right after Levi had accepted her request over Groanspring, Xiu had immediately began to regret her decision. What had she been thinking? She couldn't fight! She was too small--too weak! Not to mention that now that she thought about it, she felt like she was imposing on the Tatzel with her unusual request. She was certain Levi had better things to do than trying to teach a little Baku how to defend herself, like...um...

...Dance? She was truly ashamed that she didn't know much about the other ghoul beyond the fact she was an amazing dancer.

However, despite all of her insecurities, Xiu found herself wandering into the monster dorms at the appointed time. Though she had fought with it for a long while, she managed to get her long hair into a bun, and settled on wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt instead of her usual dress. If there was one thing she could claim to know about fighting, it was that the less loose or dangling things there were, the better.

Before she even reached the room, the Baku ghoul caught a whiff of the faint smell of candy corn. Hm? C-could that be...? Trailing after the smell, it wasn't long before she found herself in front of an open door. A quick glance at the doorplate determined that she had arrived at the right place and, with a deep breath, Xiu raised a hand to knock and alert the other ghoul of her arrival.

"L-levi?" She asked meekly, peeking her head hesitantly through the doorway. "I-I'm sorry to keep you waiting..."

There was a faint knock on the door soon after the first show had ended. SkeeV shows were something she was interested in for at least the first 20 minutes... then she'd fins herself dozing off or up and about again doing something. If it weren't for the voice following the knock, Levi might have dismissed it for a sound coming from the show and drifted off.

Oh- aye! Xiu! No worrin' none at all! Her ears perked up and she moved to stand up and greet the ghoul. Welcome welcome n' make yerself at home! Eh, can I offer ya anythin'? Drink er a snack? Got some spookies n' candy corn juice on tha table if yer needin' a peck n' a nibble. It was only right to offer the petite ghoul something, being Xiu's first time in her dorm and all. Surely, the ghoul was feeling a bit nervous from what Levi had seen of her so far and the tatzel wanted to uplift her confidence; Xiu was willing to fight. Levi was happy with that much knowledge.

Placing a hand on Xiu's back gently between her shoulders once she'd decided on if/what she wanted from the kitchen table, Levi gestured for her to take a seat in the pillow pile with her for a moment to brief the situation. So... why'd ya think ya'll needed ta learn defendin' n' all anywho? She wasn't saying she disagreed with the choice, but if Xiu was being hassled by someone...

Xiu hastily held up her hands, palms out, and shook her head. "N-no thank you, Levi! P-please, you don't have to go to any trouble!" True to Levi's assumptions, the little Baku was indeed very nervous, as her stuttering and fidgeting probably indicated. Playing with the bottom edge of her shirt, she shyly peeked up at the taller ghoul from beneath her bangs. In all honesty, she was still kind of surprised that the Tatzel had been so willing to accept her request.
"Um...t-thank you, Levi. For agreeing to teach me, I mean. I-I really appreciate your help!"

Sinking into the pillows beside Levi, Xiu chewed on her bottom lip and considered the question thoughtfully. "Why? I just..." How was she supposed to explain this? "There's...no specific reason I want to learn. I mean, no one has tried to attack me or anything but...it just feels like something I need to know." What would she do if she was attacked one day? With how she was right now, her only choices would be either to flee or to hang around and be a burden on her friends. Sure, when she was desperate, Xiu somehow managed to throw a good punch or a kick...but that was luck. Was she wanted was to develop a skill.

"...I-is that strange?" She frowned, tilting her head the other ghoul questioningly. She knew that her parents wouldn't approve of her learning to fight--they would call it barbaric for a Baku ghoul such as herself.

Levi nodded with approval as she listened into Xiu's reasoning for wanting to learn to fight. The need to know was a great reason and the tatzel would have no trouble attempting to teach the baku with this in mind. She abruptly stopped nodding when Xiu asked her if the request was odd.

Ain't odd- no no! 'think it'sa great reasonin' fer wantin' ta fight. Gotta be prepared, eh? Was it peculiar that a petite ghoul such as Xiu wanted to fight? maybe. The tatzel hadn't pegged her for being a rough kinda ghoul. Would Levi deny her the right to try and kick someone large than her in the guts anyways? no.

Levi's tail came up and over to Xiu then, curiously picking up the baku's tail and flickering it side to side like a hand would when examining something. She tried to be as gentle as possible as to not startle the ghoul by her prodding. Usually she wouldn't be concerned- but Xiu was a sensitive case, she figured. It didn't look to be too muscular, but Levi would give her the benefit of the doubt. How do ya find movin' yer tail? Ever try 'ta hold somethin' with it? The tatzel had to ask; alot of her personal moves consisted of using her tail like another limb so it was proper to investigate the potential in Xiu's tail.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 21, 2011 3:28 pm

Relieved by Levi's answer, Xiu allowed herself to relax slightly, her tail giving a little flick as she smiled up at the Tatzel. "Y-yup! Just in case!" What basics she knew she learned from Roch, but the little Baku definitely needed a lot more guidance. She knew where to aim now--she just needed to make sure that her punches and kicks was actually accurate.

She was a little startled when she felt something pick up her tail, but quickly calmed down when she realized it was only Levi. She stared the other ghoul's tail with a look of awe, tilting her head to the side as she watched the way it moved around like another arm. Xiu was so distracted that she nearly missed the question.

"Wha--o-oh, I'm sorry! My...my tail?" Gently sliding it out of the Tatzel's grasp, she flicked it back and forth and frowned thoughtfully. "Moving it is fine--I can wrap it around things, at least--but...n-no, I've never tried to hold anything with it. I-I'm not sure if I can..." All it took was one glance to see that her slender tail was far weaker than the other ghoul's more muscular one. Drooping a little, Xiu took her tail in her hands and eyed it with a tiny frown. Would she be able to do the things that Levi could someday?

She smiled at Xiu's tail movements; the ghoul seemed downed by her own abilities though. Ghoulie, I've seen boils with less active tails. That ain't so bad at all! She persisted on Xiu's tail maneuvering by doing a little test. C'mon now- try 'this.

Wriggling her tail on the ground like a snake, she tapped the end of it on the floor for a moment before letting it go limp. Try ta wrap 'round it 'n lift if ya can? Even young tatzels had to be trained in using their tails at first. If ya can lift me, yer tail might'even be useful in fightin'! N' it'sa good lil' trick ta have fer tha usin'. Her tail had been handy in alot of her battles thusfar on campus. With this test, Xiu could at the very least have enough power in her tail to whip at someone fairly well, Levi figured.

She cheered up a little at the reassurance, pulling her gaze up instead of letting it rest dejectedly on her tail. W-well if Levi said so...then surely there was hope for her yet, right?

A look of determination came over her face when she was presented with the task. She had never tried picking anything up with her tail before, so this would be her first attempt--an attempt that she was praying went well. Since she didn't have the longest tail though--it didn't quite reach the floor--she had to stoop a little first. "I-I'll try my best." She promised, before curling her tail firmly around the middle of Levi's. Then, with a deep breath, she tried to lift it.

She did manage to lift it upwards, but not very high--perhaps about 4 or 5 inches at most--and it was clearly very straining considering how violently her tail shook in an attempt to keep up the sudden, extra weight. Once Xiu decided she couldn't take it anymore (which was after a few brief seconds), she looked up at Levi wide-eyed. "C-c-can I...c-can I let go?"

Indeed, the thinner tail of Xiu rattled like a half beast in the bog while clutching hers. Levi nodded at Xiu to show she approved of the ghoul’s efforts. Sure, let’er go now. S’alright. Actively raising her tail gain to ease the weight off from Xiu’s, Levi offered her a pointer when attacking with their swaying extensions. Attackin’ ‘s ‘bout just as important as pinni’. Ya see- yer tail ain’t gotta be the thing ta pin, but ya can attack with it once ye got ‘em pinned ‘least. I figure that ain’t a problem seein’ ya workin’ it. That’sa fine tail fer whippin’, yep. Indeed, the thin length of Xiu’s tail coupled with whatever little strength she did have it in looked to be enough to get in some hopefully damaging … lashes… while she… hopefully would be able to pin her opponent down…

…hopefully.

Say, Xiu…whaddaya know ‘bout attackin’? Ever watched a good fightin’ before? If ya got any idears on what kinda things ya liked n’ tried ‘em… Afterall, that was how Levi had learned basically all she did; by observation and then practicing on it. Boils back home didn’t give me a’lick ‘a trainin’ maself. Learned all I know from watchin’ them critter move ‘n makin’ it better than what they could ‘all muster up… lookit me jabberin’ along though. Er- ‘bout pinnin’. Know anythin’ ‘bout it? Ever seen a critter get pinned? Attacking and pinning; did Xiu have any knowledge of what the two were really?

Relieved when the weight was lifted, Xiu released her light hold on Levi's tail. She hoped that that had been a decent first attempt, but before she could dwell on it for too long, Levi had already begun teaching her about things she would need to know. Things that Xiu was having a hard time understanding, as shown through her knit brows and slight frown. Pinning? What did the Tatzel mean by that?

...And what was this whipping business? Did she mean that her tail could be used as a weapon? The Baku turned to stare at her swishing tail behind her, eying it with newfound excitement and appreciation. She never knew that it could be used as a weapon! The thought had never occurred to her--for the most part, the only limbs she thought that she would use while defending herself would be her arms and her legs.

"A-attacking? I-I um...well, someone did give me a few tips. L-like where to aim and what some of the weak points are." With her currently low physical strength, aiming for someone's weakest points seemed like the best strategy for someone like her. "I've never watched a fight though, no. A-and um...n-no, I've never seen anyone or anything pinned. How does it work?"

Lots'a different ways a' pinnin'. Levi tapped her chin, sitting up on her knees now trying to think of the best way to describe the act of pinning to Xiu. Pinnin's for when ya want ta take 'em out. Like, so they ain't movin' no more. The tatzel decided this wasn't going to be enough to get the proper idea across. Alright- lemme show ya a pinnin' Rising to a stand, the ghoul briefly peered around the pillow pile for one roughly about Xiu's size in length and relatively puffy all around. Levi stood the pillow high in front of her which still allowed for Xiu to see most of Levi.

Let's say this 'ere's a fellar givin' ya a hasslin', eh? Well- bugger won't leave ya 'lone so- Levi swiped at the bottom corners with one of her calves in a sweep kick as if they were feet. Grabbing at the falling pillow with one clawed hand, she jumped to allow her feet to impact the pillow's "waist" before she and it fell to the floor with a thud. Spreading her knees and hugging the pillow under it's top corners with her forearms, Levi had pinned her pillow foe.

This is one sorta pinnin', see? Ain't goin' nowhere. Of course there were two obviously wrong things here to the tatzel: 1. The pillow couldn't get up on its own anywho 2. She'd played this out as if the opponent would be on their front.

Still hugging the pillow, Levi decided to clarify. It'll depend on if tha bugger is front 'er back ta ya, ...but... it'll work best if ya get 'im from the back. Front-... well...ya'll would need ta knock 'em out first, I reckon. She now came up on her knees again with the pillow now her seat cushion, looking to examine Xiu's response to her demonstration of a pin. Did she get it?

Ah- what sorta weak points ya say ya'll learned before?... Perhaps such things could be incorporated so Levi could get an idea of what sort of know-how the ghoul already had.

Oh! So pinning was...literally pinning someone down to stop them from moving? Xiu nodded to show that she understood this basic concept, but there was the question of how she was supposed to pin someone down. Did she just...leap at them and hope for the best? ...That didn't seem right. There was probably some kind of strategy to it.

Fortunately, Levi thought to demonstrate. Looking curious as the Tatzel picked up a pillow, Xiu stood up so that she could observe from a better angle. It was a little difficult for her to follow what was going on though--her gaze rapidly darted from the other ghoul's legs, to her arms, and then back down--as she went through the actions. That looked...that didn't look too hard, right?

"C-could I try that out after?" She asked, tail swishing behind her as she eyed the pillow. She definitely wanted to try learning that skill at some point, but it would take a lot of practice, she was sure. Caught off guard by the question, Xiu scrunched up her nose as she tried to recall what she had been taught.

"Well...um. T-things like stomping on feet, elbowing stomachs, kneeing boils between the legs..." Trailing off, she looked up at Levi expectantly. Was that a good start?

Well sure, screecheart- n' that'sa good'a start as any! Learning through example just as Mitsu had with dancing; that would be a way to go. The fact that Xiu had learned about a few ...interesting moves couldn't hurt. She at least had some sort of attacks under her belt to use given the chance to use them.

Lets do tha pinnin' I just did together!...er...bring up one'a them thar pillows n' come by me. Standing again, Levi fluffed her pillow again and put it in a standing position. N' place it just like this...

...we'll go slow.

Once Xiu had gotten into position, Levi slid her foot under the corners of her pillow again, showing Xiu where the legs of her and her opponent should meet for a take out (as best as possible given that the pillow didn't actually have legs). So ya start out like this- tryin' ta git both of 'em legs in a swipe.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 02, 2011 1:19 am

She obediently grabbed one of the larger pillows and hurried over to where Levi stood, nearly tripping over the end of the pillow in her haste. Fortunately, she caught herself before she could topple over, shooting a sheepish smile over towards the other ghoul. Well, that was a...good start, wasn't it? At least she hadn't actually fallen.

Putting on the most serious expression she could muster (though it came out looking more silly than anything), she scurried to Levi's side and watched very closely as she went through the first step. "A...a swipe." She repeated, murmuring this to herself as she mimicked the tatzel. She tried to follow her example, sliding her foot under where her opponent's--in this case, the pillow--feet would be. She repeated this a couple of times just to make sure that she got it.

Seemed like an easy enough first step! "Okay, I think I'm ready for the next part!" She chirped, clearly eager to go on and learn the whole thing.

Levi nodded at Xiu's swiping. That'd be tha way, yep! Just when yer doin' it actually, ya gotta do it faster n' put lots'a UNF in'ta it! She clenched a fist away from the pillow for a moment to emphasize the unf.

Then, once that get 'em fallin' ta tha ground, ya go in fer tha pin! Gotta move fast ta do tha kind I showed ya- like this. She reapeated the falling pillow catching and stomping on action, ending with her feet flat into the middle of the pillow and one hand still clutching one of the top corners. See what I did there?
