Memory didn't usually dislike the rain, after all it was part of the life source that fed and protected the earth. It helped plants to grow and thrive, it filled the rivers and lakes, it even gave young foals puddles to play in.... but today was different. The rain was heavier than normal, slapping at her pelt as sharp as needles. She was soaked, and part of her feared that the freshly laid ink tatoos upon her pelt would start to run and distort in under such continued torment. It was because of this that Memory found herself seeking shelter.
The trees had thinned, leaving little canopy cover for her to hide below, and the rain was so heavy that the leaves had already started allowing water to drip through their grasp. She sighed and looked around, surprised to discover she had walked towards a lake with a magnificent waterfall. Memory had heard stories of such grand creations but had never seen one for herself... it was.... magical. It stole her breath away. The leader of her herd, her grandfather, had told her and the others as foals a story about a waterfall. It had been about a warrior seeking a rainbow to save his kindgom, but one day he followed a rainbow into a waterfall... finding a cave hidden behind.
Memory couldn't help but wonder if the tale was true... if it was then surely she could find refuge from the cold and the wet, at least for a little while. Suddenly determined she trotted forward, taking care on the slippy and slim covered rocks that lead the way to the mouth of the waterfall. Part of her feared that all she would find was a solid wall of rock... that somehow that would taint the story of her grandfather. It was for that reason she hesitated. Spray from the waterfall slapped her pelt as more rain poured all around her. She was too wet and cold to remain still... which left one option.
Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes and hoped for the best as she entered the waterfall and whatever lay beyond it. Relief washed over her a few moments later when she realised that she had not crashed into anything. "I did it...." She whispered, "....I walked into a waterfall." She turned to look at the entrance. Water continued to cascade from the top to the bottom, roaring in her ears as it splashed upon the sleek surface of the water below. Memory simply smiled, while her damp body began shaking with the cold.

Dallon Dallon had found refuge behind the waterfall right as the first few droplets descended from the cloud infested sky. He could easily tell by the angry gloom that there was going to be a downpour. So, while he could he slipped inside his hideaway, closed off from the world by a solid wall of water. Sure, the echoing roar was near deafening but who was there to talk to other than rocks and cave bugs. The situation seemed to become foreign to him though as a mare slipped into his hidden room, causing him to freeze and just stare at the intruder from the shadows. She seemed kind enough, and hadn't quite registered that she wasn't alone. "Congratulations..." he praised her for accomplishment before relaxing just enough to allow his body to lay on the cold rocky flooring of the cavern. From what he could see in the dim lighting she was normal. Well, except that mountain of hair on her head and rump.

Memory jumped and spun around at the sound that interupted her, a slight squeak escaped her. "oh... eh...." He cheeks filled with a bright blush, but she hoped the stranger couldn't see it since she could barely make out who had spoken. From the voice she was guess male, the voice had a smooth masculine chorus of tones that was pleasant to hear... or at least she imaged it would be since she had only heard one word. Memory started shivering from the cold but did her best to ignore it as she addressed the stranger, "Thanks..... I..." she paused for a moment, her eyes slowly adjusting to the gloom that lingered near the rear of the cave. A beautiful creature lay on the rock floor, a thick mane littered with dark colours and a single wing that looked more elegant than that of a wind breed.... could it be.... a half-angeni? The idea stole her breath away, her mother had always told her that such creatures were rare since the Angeni rarely fell from the heavens. Gods in horse form. Stammering a little she continued, "I hope I am not interupting..... it's raining." She felt stupid pointing out the obvious, but it was too late.

Dallon The high pitch tone that escaped the startled mare's mouth made his eye twitch in the slightest bit. It had been quite unexpected, though, fitting. After all he seemed to be a beast hiding in the back of a cave behind a waterfall. It only seemed suitable that she would suspect a monster in his place rather than a stallion of angeni decent. He was definitely his fathers son, cloaked in dark colors though fashioned with his mothers purple hues. The girl was nothing more than a silhouette, dim light from a stormy day seeping through the water as it feel from the heavens it seemed. Still, it was plain to see the mess of lucious locks she had and what he assumed to be stripes on her body. Slowly the stallion rose up on his hooves, taller than the female he was certain but that was only by a bit. He was average sized for the most part, hardly intimidating. His unamused eyes flicked towards the waterfall before landing back on her. "Still? If it continues like this I fear we'll be flooded out," he stepped closer, more towards the entrance of the hidden cave and towards the light. He came up beside her, positioning himself on a certain side of her that would cause the girl to look towards the light if she wanted to maintain eye contact. Once he had light shining on her face he was taken back by her intriguing markings and the interest showed dully in his eyes. "You're welcome to stay..." he softly spoke, wanting her to remain out of the storm, for her own safety.

Memory blushed as he approached, she couldn't help it, but it soon became clear that he was far more than a monster or a normal angeni... and she couldn't help but feel as if she had insulted him in some way.
Trying to push away the thoughts her body began to shiver uncontrollably from the cold, her teeth chattering together... especially as a breeze seemed to flow through the cave sending an extra spary of water towards them in the form of large droplets. The hit her already soaking wet pelt and mane increasing her shivering. She knew she couldn't go back outside... and eventhough she felt as if she was not good enough to remain she was not a fool to leave. "Tha...nk... y....oooo...u" She said, between the chatter of teeth, "I.... thi.... nk.... it.... is on.... for.... th...eee.... ni...gh...t." She wasn't sure if he would understand her, after all she was having difficulty understanding the sounds that actually managed to escape her cold form. The blush on her cheeks seemed to flash hotter as her embarassment flared. She was a mare that usually prided herself on her control, on her ability to be the 'perfect' mare by the standard of her herd... but perhaps it was fitting that with the loss of her family she would lose those skills as well.
In an effort to retain some kind of dignity, she attempted to share her name with the stranger, feeling it was the least she could do for spoilling his quite time. "My... naaa....me.... is.... Mem....or....ry...."

Dallon Dallon for the most part was dry, or at least dryer than this mare currently was, and it made his heart sink in his chest to see her so vunerable to the ice temperatures. A small sigh escaped his parted lips before he allowed his eyes to shut. Disapproval was apparently on his face as he shook his head and came up beside the girl to blood the mist of water that fell towards them. "Come. It's warmer back here..." he showed her to the rear end of the cave and allowed her to take the spot on the rocks he had warmed already with his body. It was obvious she had been hinting that she couldn't go back out in the storm. She wanted to stay here, with him, in this cozy little nook. The female gave her name so readily it caught Dallon off guard at first. He sighed and lowered his body to the floor of the cave. "Dallon," he said simply, though when he realized how she shivered a small wave of guilt washed over him. Cautiously, the angeni mix lowered his heavenly wing upon her, draping it over her back to share the heat he held.

Memory didn't know what to do or say but knew in her heart it would be rude to ignore his request, and as her cold and tired body touched the warmed stone surface she feared she would never want to leave. The contrast between cold and warm made her shiver more for a little while... but that was nothing to her reaction when he placed a wing over her. She froze, her eyes almost popping out of her head and she turned away so he couldn't see anything upon it... she had never been.... held, for lack of another phrase, like this by anyone before. All of her family had been grounded and she had never felt feathers upon her. It was strange. And even through her embarassment she couldn't help but notice the relutance in his approach of her... first with the disapproval that had covered his face, then with the lack of care with his name and finally with his caution at his winged 'embrace'. Memory couldn't help but feel like a burden, she had never felt so worthless or troubled in all of her life... when she had had a herd, a family she had had a purpose.... now all that was gone, and this lost little mare was alone in a strange world that apprantly had different rules to her old one. Unable to hold it back a tear started to roll down her cheek just as the warmth from his body started to warm her up and stop her shaking.... what was she going to do?

Dallon Dallon scooted closer still, side pressing against hers. To him it was uncomfortably cold but he knew that to the mare it was a blanket of warmth that she very much needed. This girl seemed so kind, and to Dallon, those who are kind come from good lives. He would have never thought that a life so tortured could result in such a precious girl. Perhaps rules were bent for the fact that her life was good before that faithful tragedy. Still, Dallon was unaware of any of her past and left in the dark. Well, that was until he glanced at the female's eyes. His red orbs adjusted quickly to the dark they laid in and he could see distress beyond the haze of blackness that shield them. "You are crying..." he stated the obvious, just to help her realize that he wasn't unaware any longer. Besides, it should have helped her feel better about stating the obvious before. He even did it every once in a while, just to avoid any awkward or wrong movements. "Are you in pain?" he asked this because his last guess would have been that it was emotions. Emotions never truly effected him, not to the point of crying at least.

Memory felt her cheeks flare with a blush... he could see her crying? In the dark? The idea stole her breath and for a moment she couldn't find the words to say anything. When she did she dis so with a soft gulp first, "Sorry... I... I don't usually cry in front of those I don't know." It was true, Memory had always prided herself on the appearance she upheld.... but she supposed the inner pain within her was simply too great to hold back any longer. "Thank you for your concern... but I am not in pain. She turned and offered him a soft smile despite her watery eyes, then looked away from him to the ground before him before saying softly, almost in a whisper, "At least not physically." It was at that moment that her mind thought about her tatoos, and despite not being able to see anything she adjusted her legs before her and tried to look at the new memory tag markings upon them... for some reason they gave her comfort. And as her cold body started to warm up and the comfort took hold she found the strength to stop her tears... after all, those she lost would not want her to cry.

Dallon Females were always confusing to Dallon. He had met one who was strong willed, one who was irritably clingy, one who blackmailed him into meeting his family. Now he had the company of a girl who seemed to cry for no reason. At least, he assumed it was no reason because of the lack of pain. What other reasons were there to cry if you were not injured? Though, her final words kept him in a deeper confusion. "So... you are hurting..." he confirmed with the slight arch of his eyebrow. Silence took over the cave as he tried to think of what to say. His red eyes flickered across the dirty rock flooring and then along the walls as he tinkered with his mind. "What happened?" he settled on his response, curious as to how the girl would respond. There had to be be something wrong or else she wouldn't be sad right now.

Memory found herself once again shocked by his question, he was blunt and to the point and she supposed she would have loved that at one time in her life... but at the moment it seemed too personal and too bold, of course that was simply because her pain was overshadowing everything. Soon Memory would go to sit before the stars and let her pain go to the sky, a sign that she was ready to move on with her life... the only reason she had held off on that was because it would make it all too real, she supposed a part of her was still hoping that she was dreaming that her herd were fine that no fire had ever happened.... but that was false hope, and deep down she knew it. Turning her head softly she looked at Dallon, and for a long pause she simply looked at him, she could only make out the outline of his dark features among the darkness of the cave, though she could hear his heart thundering within his chest as his side pressed against her body in an effort to warm her up.... he had helped, even if it was reluctantly, and since he was almost positive he was at least part-Angeni in blood she felt she could not deny him an answer... after all, who denied an angel? Of course even as she made the decision to tell him it didn't make the words any easier, and she feared her emotions would overwhelm her to tears again at any moment. With one last gulp she said, "A fire.... everyone I loved.... gone... family... friends.... herdmates.... children and adults alike.... only...." She scrunched her face up slightly as tears threatened to overflow her eyes, "....I survived." She forced herself to say those two words, those two workds that made this whole ordeal unfair! WHY HAD SHE SURVIVED? The statement had been screaming in her head for so long she felt like it would never leave her, demanding an answer she could never give....

Dallon She was hesitating, Dallon could see that. Anybody could be able to see that with the look she held on her face and the way she attempted to cope with the weight on her shoulders. The striped stallion was about to part his lips and explain that she didn't have to tell him what she wasn't comfortable sharing but apparently she beat him to the punch. This knowledge was raining down upon him and usually he'd be hungry for such things but this was different. He didn't want to know her pain, the reason she suffered. Why had he asked? Maybe because he didn't expect it to impact him this much. What if his family had died in some freak fire and left him alone in the world. This thought alone caused his heart to clench and the feelings inside of himself startled poor Dallon. Sure, it seemed like a curse now to be the only one living but time heals all wounds. "It'll pass..." was his sum up. He knew it wasn't all of what he was trying to say, and maybe even made him sound a bit heartless but oh if she could see his face now. He was struggling. Wrestling with down trotted feelings that he had never suffered from before.

The air between them seemed to change, and although Memory couldn't see him properly in the dark she felt the change as if it was linked directly into her brain... and without thinking she found herself nipping his mane softly, it was something they often did in her herd to bring comfort to another... or if the tug was hard enough to simply distract them and bring their attention back to you, though in this case her intent was one of comfort. Yet even as she finished doing the act she felt a red blush attack her face... had she really just done that? She turned away, ashamed at her lack of control this day... yet even as she feared it part of her praised herself, did this mean she was slowly adapting? Before she would never had even interacted with someone out of the herd and yet here she was... sharing her soul. "Sorry," she grumbled, "I don't know what came over me.... habit I suppose....I...." Left with no words to say Memory simply left the sentence open. She had chose not to react to his words, part of her already knowing he was right... she was lucky not doomed to be alive, left alive for a reason that she had only discover... but getting over the pan was the hardest thing she had ever attempted to do in her life.

Dallon Dallon's attention had been lost in his subconscious, lingering around the reasons he felt so different all the sudden. In his daze he hadn't quite seen the female lean in and when the initial contact of her nipping occured he gave a subtle flinch, eyes widening and senses going insane. He didn't know what to do, how to react to such foreign gestures so he remained frozen as she did her comforting. In a strange twisted way it helped. Instead of focusing on the tragedy he had been presented with his mind was swirling around this strange act. His mother would n** his hair and give him affection but only her. Nobody outside his family had ever been so bold as to do so. As Memory pulled away from his shocked appearance he couldn't help but feel embarrassed for his own self. He probably looked a bit frightened, if not taken aback. "No, I apologize..." he glanced down at the floor to avert his eyes from hers. "I'm not used to your customs I suppose..." his voice was soft, lacking that usual dominance and certainty. "I thought I was the one who's suppose to be doing that to you... after all, you're the one in need..." he shook his head softly, feeling as if he weren't doing his job correctly.
