The sun shone down it's brilliant light onto the clear waters of a beautiful oasis. A few fish and amphibians could be seen beneath the crystal clear surface, swimming about without a care of many predators. For you would have to be pretty desperate to make a journey through the many miles of desert surrounding this paradise. Not unless you were used to extreme heats and long travels.
This was the case for the bright mare huddled under a tree, her head hanging down in a quiet slumber.
Yasmin was used to being out in the desert. She'd always shone in the sky just above it. She only finally got a taste of it when she'd fallen. A lone traveler found her, thinking her a miracle from above, and captured her for himself. Together, she managed to bring him good luck, soon earning him a title as a high Horse Master in a royal court. He had decided to take the final leap, journeying across the desert to a nearby community to breed Yasmin herself to a magnificent stallion and start his own grand bloodline.
Always loyal to her master, Yasmin consented being lead behind a plain horse for the journey. Her master's luck, however, ran out during the journey.
It was near this very oasis they were attacked by bandits. The savage men had seen the opportunity to increase their own luck with the purse of money on the rider, along with his beautiful mare behind him. She was sure to fetch a good price in the sales.
But they had failed. Only managing to get away with the horse he was riding. Yasmin was left with a dead master, in a beautiful oasis. Blood flecked her coat and the tack she wore. Though she'd been here a while on her own, she didn't dare taunt the waters with the blood.

As a great Hawk Angetenar soared above the desert riding on thermals, eyes many times sharper than most could see even the slightest movement of the desert sands. though his wings grew weary and his mouth dry as he continued his flight, Trees a head, an oasis came the answer far beyond the dunes, trees only a hawks eyes could see.
Tilting his tail feathers he circled high angling his wings toward that far place. The Alcor stallion was used to traveling but this was his first time in a desert and his hawk form proved more useful than that of the tiger and its thick fur. His mother Arei had taught him to shift as she did, and his other mother Azha to navigate with stars if he must travel during the night.
A white form became more apparent as he neared, circling the oasis once, he landed on a tree branch near the mare but out of reach of her hooves. She was a beautiful sight, where their always such beauties in the desert alone Tenar found himself wondering. Brushing it off as nothing more than a passing thought, the prince called out in hawks voice trying to get the mare’s attention.
“What brings you out here covered with blood?” asked Angetenar the hawk.

Yasmin was away from the beautiful world around her. In her dreams, she was back with her master. It wasn't one of those complicated, strange dreams with a hidden and deep meaning. It was just a grassy meadow. Full of bright flowers of yellow, orange, and red. Like the setting sun. She always loved those colors. Like the colors of the tack her master bought for her. Always in reds, yellows, and oranges. Like royalty.
Her tail swished on it's own account in the waking world. The noises around her slowly penetrated her wonderfully dream and she was forced to return to the real world. Immediately, the white mare cringed slightly as her sore muscles sent a message to her brain. She shifted her weight. Her scraps and cuts had healed, but her bruises still remained. As did the mental scarring.
Her dark eyes found the source of the noise, perched nearby. Stumbling backwards in fright, she nearby toppled over into a bush behind her.
"Are you in alliance with the bandits?" she demanded, trying to narrow her eyes in suspicion, but failing. Her fright over the entire experience was still too fresh. She wished she could leave the scene behind her. But she was afraid of wandering in the desert by herself. She didn't know the way on her own.

He hadn’t expected to frighten her, nor had he realized she was still terrified and ready to bolt “Calm yourself fair desert maiden," he spoke softly with nobility and strength "If I was," talons released the branch he was on taking a flap of his wings he lifted himself into the hair and landed in front of her taking his true form gracefully his wings receding into his back revealing the white tiger stallion draped with cyan cloth and jewellery "You'd not be standing there."
His long elegant mane fell back along his strong neck once he finished his transformation. Perhaps in his still rather formidable form she might feel better though he doubted it no matter what form he took. Tenar took a step forward placing his horn in the pool purifying the water as ripples expanded across the water’s surface. Another something one of his mothers had taught him, cyan eyes moved back to the mare. "Come the water is clean again." His voice unchanged
With a smooth motion he moved from the water to allow her to drink the purified water. "I am Angetenar, Prince of the moonlight heard, and you desert maiden or shall I continue to call you thus?"

The white mare was finding it difficult to do as the strange told her. She still stood as still as a rabbit who spied the fox slinking through the grass. And she was treating him as such. Not even when he proved to be the same as her-an equine from the stars-she wasn't convinced that her guard could be let down. Her shoulders and flank continued to tremble, but her voice was rock steady.
"Is that so?" came her reply to his claim of being able to kill her swiftly if he wanted. Yasmin could belief it. What other forms did this one have up his sleeve? Or powers? She was nothing more than a regular horse, down on this earth.
The water was inviting. She wasn't thirsty so much as tired of carrying the blood of her former master on her beautiful coat. It ruined her color. And brought her vivid images she didn't want to see. The mare didn't want to ruin the crystal clear and pretty water of the oasis with her tainted coat. But if this stranger could purify the water after she was done, she wouldn't feel so bad.
Obviously reluctantly, Yasmin approached the side of the lake. Stepping one dainty hoof into the water, she wadded out until she was knee deep, leaving a small red trail in her wake. Dropping down, she ducked her head and whole body down into the relaxing water, swishing about enough that the blood lifted off her coat. When she emerged back up, her pure whiteness shone like the moon in a pitch black sky.
"...Thank you." Refusing to look at him, Yasmin kept her eyes on her reflection on the surface. "I didn't want to taint the place more than it already is." The request for her name she ignored. That was something he would have to earn by showing her he meant her no harm.

She still seemed like a cornered mouse and refused to give her name "Quite," he finished. Pleased as he was she did finally step into the water; once the blood was washed off Tenar Bent down to purify the oasis once more. With that he simply gave solemn nod in response to her thanks. "Water is one of the easier things to purify fear not making it dirty." her white coat seemed to shine now with the blood gone and her hide clean and it was true the blood was not her own. Washed away also some burden from left her with the blood.
“Why do you look down Maiden?” he asked as she seemed to refuse to look at him, this action puzzled him more than her not giving her name his feline tail flicked idly to and fro. But more to the task at hand, she had indeed been attacked by someone though the blood was not her own perhaps a dear friend had died if only to allow her an escape but this wasn't a poor topic to start. Tenar knelt and lay in the shade of the desert palm.
"I see I must earn your name Maiden, since willingly you give it not." He spoke as though to reply to some sort of challenge. Earn it he would indeed, she seemed to be quite an interesting mare.

Yasmin stayed where she was in the water, merely turning her head to watch the horned stallion with her black eyes. It would take a long time or a huge act to make her trust him enough to give a name. There was one bit of good news he could look forward to, however. At least she didn't believe he was working for the bandits who had killed her master. At least not too much. A mare of her standing would be worthless dead. If they returned, they would need her alive. It wasn't uncommon knowledge that he had gained all his fame and fortune shortly after finding her.
No. She still couldn't even bring herself to go closer to the stranger. Not just yet.
Swiveling her ears back, Yasmin nodded her head at the last comment. "That is my business," the mare answered, keeping her ears pinned back.

Tenar watched the mare stand in the water still not willing to come out. He was after all still a stranger but from his current cat-like posture didn't look overly threatening either.
"So it is," he agreed simply not wishing to press further lest she decide to run off instead. "Come," he bade "Come sit fair desert maiden," arching his head like a cat "Perhaps we can find a conversational topic we both enjoy." His feline tail flicked carelessly back and forth he himself was quite relaxed soaking up the sun. Though he found himself more at home in the moonlight, the suns warmth was still quite welcome.
Adding only "Unless you'd like to talk from there..." The way things were going it seemed as though even getting her name would take many days, but Tenar was compelled to try, he couldn't leave her here alone without some sort of protection if whatever was after her decided to show up again and finish the job. It was wholly against his nature to leave her here, therefore he would guard her whether she liked it or not.

Yasmin was secretly grateful for the company. Though she wouldn't even admit it to herself. She was stuck here. And didn't wish to stay stuck for too much longer. The desert was so vast. Her hopes of getting out on her own and making it back to civilization wasn't slim. Very slim. It would be a miracle if she did manage the feat.
But she couldn't bring herself to trust a stranger. Not even one of a rare breed of her own kind. For regular horses couldn't shapeshift. Nor did they have horns and feline tails.
She allowed her ears to move forward, again. It was easier to hear, after all. From the water, she didn't move. Merely turned around so she wasn't presenting her back to the stranger.
"What do you want?" the white mare asked, the trust clearly absent from her voice. He looked like he belonged to someone noble. His whole appearance and demeanor shouted royalty. Perhaps he was sent to fetch her for his master. That was possible.
Yasmin chewed on the bit still in her mouth for a bit, a nervous tick she'd acquired. The tack wasn't always uncomfortable unless she was wearing it often as she was now. She continued eying him, watching his movements for anything threatening or would give away his true intentions.

Not an ounce of trust in this mare it seemed to Tenar, she didn't move aside from turning to face him. Tenar rose gracefully as he was asked what he wanted. "Nothing, maiden." came his answer for everyone wanted something, so perhaps it would indulge her. "It goes against my nature to leave a maiden such as yourself alone in a place like this, believe what you might but I still mean you no ill will."
Tenar moved into the oasis water slowly as not to spook the mare. "Since you do not wish to sit I can come to you just as well." he added still keeping a respectable distance between the skittish mare and himself.
He didn't mind getting his feet wet but his feline tail was kept well above the water; he disliked the feeling of the wetness upon it.

Tenar might think staying near her was the best choice, but it was making her even more tense. If there was nothing he needed from her, he would simply leave her be. Keeping close by her only seemed to increase her belief there was some alternative motive behind those bright blue eyes. With the memory of the incident still so fresh in her mind, any small signs to prove her otherwise were being easily ignored.
Yasmin continued to watch him with her black eyes. Her black, almost cold eyes. It was a color that only enhanced the beauty of her pure white coat, but given the circumstance, all warmth had left them a long time ago.
"You are welcome to stay, of course," she responded with as much dignity as she could muster. As if the water was her throne room and the oasis her palace. She wouldn't be out-staged. Or be made a fool because she was acting like a scared fool. Those of high birth, such as herself, didn't show their fear. "But I will not trust someone so willingly."

Her statement made sense, she was a creature with a broken heart, though the fiery spirit was still quite intact as she was also well spoken "Nor would I expect you to trust fair maiden you have suffered a great tragedy that much even I can tell." he spoke holding himself as would a noble, he was indeed a noble of his heard, child to the mother of shadow. "I will stay then Maiden and I thank you for the offer." he gave her a graceful bow of respect as she did deserve; such a noble mare after all despite her coldness more than a maiden a queen of the desert.
A fleeting thought crossed his mind "Perhaps you would prefer me in another form then?" each of his forms were proud and noble creatures each with their own advantages and he was ashamed of none. Pure cyan eyes stared through the mare as though piercing directly into her soul.

Yasmin's eyes widened slightly in surprise. He had more than one form? How many of these altogether? Intrigued and curious on the inside, the mare kept these to herself as she narrowed her dark eyes back where they were.
"Unless you can change to a mouse, it makes little difference." She moved her head to the side, keeping one eye on the stallion at all times. She did now notice he didn't have the traditional horse tail and ears. They looked familiar. Almost like a cat. She'd seen enough of those when her master was alive. Always roaming the city, catching mice. Perhaps the feline features meant that was another of his many forms. Was the equine the true one or was it a trick?

She still hadn’t moved from the water, and Tenar had refused to move from his spot as well " I do apologize Fair maiden I cannot appease you by turning into a mouse." Tenar did his best to hold in a chuckle, was it the way she had said it? Her tone? The stallion wasn’t sure but it still brought a smile and a laugh.
Badr Basim swam through the many tunnels he called home now he'd left the great ocean, it had taken him many moons to find this place so secluded yet he could swim to many oasis's through the underground, where many tunnels had been formed naturally though the erosion though some places along the way did still require some slow land maneuvering, he loved this place he now called home, especially when there was an unsuspecting fine young mare wading in the water.
It was strange as he swam he realized the water was pure, so much purer than it had been when he left. But he couldn’t dwell on that now...
Swimming to the surface and swam to the shallower waters beside the white mare. Badr smiled politely "My how fine you are," he spoke as he gazed across the mare's slender form "I can indeed see many males fighting to keep you as a prize, you would have fine sons." He paused, flicking his long tail under the water, waves rippled across the surface "Perhaps though you would allow me before anyone else has laid claim?" he did love the women, he had time and time again left some with broken hearts far from here.
The nova had unfortunately neglected to notice Tenar waiting near the bank.
Tenar immediately snorted at the appearance of the nova rising to his hooves, he could hear a little of the conversation and fumed, how could he treat a mare that way? Like she was nothing, in Tenar’s herd most of the leaders were female and only Lore was the sole male leader, lore and Drayus, he had appeared shortly after his birth as one of his mothers had told him.
Tenar Started into the water eyeing the nova, trying to place himself between the two, and this time he didn't care she didn't want him near at least since she distrusted him so much she would move back to the beach and Tenar wouldn't stand for such behavior while he was present.

Yasmin gave a great toss of her head, joined by a snort. So this stranger thought she was funny? She wasn't supposed to be funny. Not that she looked terrifying or even intimidating. She doubted she did at all. But to laugh at her was an insult.
The mare had turned around to give the white stallion a piece of her mind when a sound behind her caught her attention. She froze for a moment, her still half panicked mind thinking of the worst:A sneak attack from the water. Jumping back, black eyes wide, they quickly narrowed at what was really behind her. And 'specially at what was said.
One delicate hoof stomped in the shallow water, splashing water up to her knee. Tenar went forgotten, her back now turned towards him. "Hmph," Yasmin snorted, taking another step backwards. "Excuse me? You wouldn't have half a chance with someone like me."
It was at that moment, once the words were out of her mouth, did she notice her four legged companion had made a move closer. Instinctively, she did move a little to the side, still not any closer to trusting him than she had been a few minutes ago. But when the only move he made was to stand between her and the Nova, Yasmin raised an eyebrow in curiosity.
