]Among the bright lanterns and hanging streamers of the festival, a single booth stands rather out of place. At first it might have been mistaken for some old boards that had been set up and not cleaned away in time or maybe a old shed that had fallen in. Was someone gathering timber for a fire? Upon closer inspect, the booths were nailed together and in fact a booth. Made of old warped wood that looked as if they were drug up from some lake and were now covered in moss, the booth stood (by some miracle) among all the pretty lights. The old tarp nailed showed it to be one of the many students running for a seat in the Student Council.

It seems something has happened. A pile of old boards and a tarp now remain. Seems this booth is going to be closed for a bit.

If you want a leech or button, you can still come to the booth and examine the ruins. Just rp that you pick up a button or that a leech stuck to you as you check out the remains of Calder's booth. Remember to post your minipet username.

On the counter, several leeches were crawling about, but one in particular, looking especially big, plump, and sporting a little straw hate, stared with purpose at you. Fester regarded each and every person who came and as instructed, would move to shove one of the many buttons littered on the table.

The buttons seemed to be made of painted bottle caps and safety pins. Still, the message was clear and the purpose served and the little leech was proud to be by them and the large mason jar of pins.

In fact, many of the leeches were rather curious of all the lovely blood-bags coming and going that they didn't at all mind grabbing on to anyone that came too close.

((Note: Leeches are free and all you need to do is come in and make a rp post of either looking at the booth, taking a pin, or whatever else and having one of the leeches crawl on - either unnoticed, unwillingly to your character, or as a happy new friend. Yes, they bite, but luckily not too hard. Post your minipet profile name at the bottom of your rp post. These are limited to one per person.))

It also seems that someone left a pretty plushie package for Calder, who smiled at the miniature versions of himself and lined them in the driest part of his booth.

Calder wasn't rich. In fact, he rarely had many seeds in his pocket on his best days, but that just meant he knew how to haggle, was thrifty, and could make whatever he needed if it came down to it. This was his platform, but while handling money was one part of the job, Calder was more interested in the fundraising - or the excuse to do events. He had so many ideas he could do with having the title as Treasurer as an excuse. Often times he would smile suddenly just thinking of one, but the competition was stiff to be sure. He had been around last year when barely a few people had run and now there were campaign booths all around.

It didn't help that most people were nicely dressed and NOT COVERED IN GLITTER! He had taken a break from setting up his booth and jumped in the river to wash the glitter off, but it was still all through his hair and tail, not to mention speckled on his nice (though now wet) clothes. Frowning, he took out a comb and started to brush his hair out from behind his booth, waiting and trying to make some progress on the glitter removal.

She had slipped off on her own despite everyone else deciding to stick in groups. She had plans, she had ideas, and a group around her would just ruin all of those plans. Candace just needed to find one game that she could play to perfection. She had to make the best of this seed on the off chance her plan didn't work. But where the hell was she supposed to go? There were so many booths?

And so many of them were about voting. Was this really a festival to celebrate a fish? What were they voting for? Who had the best fish? She snorted to herself as she trotted along, trying to ignore the way her hooves made soft clip clops along the ground.

It's for student council at a school near here. I guess they're having elections soon. Ohoh! Maybe some of them have minipets they can give away! Candace stopped walking to raise a brow, one of her ears perking up. Oh? People here just gave away minipets?

This was promising.

Calder had been combing glitter out of his hair and watching as people passed his booth, frowning a bit as he continued to get the irksome stuff from his tail and mane. The bad thing was that he only had one comb with him and he had to stop every so often to pull out glitter form it's bristles and then start combing again and then there would be glitter on his hand. It was after a good half an hour that he managed to get most of it off him, and then brushed his legs and jacket to continue his work.

It was during this time, in the glimmering orange lights of the festival and the wild laugher and howls of various creatures that he heard the steady clip-clop of hooves.

The world moved in slow motion, powering down as Calder's ears perked to something very familiar. Eyes rising, sound seemed to vaporate around him to the low tones of some harmonious melody and somewhere the screeching of bats sang their beautiful song. The hooves with polished black like black coals, rising up to inky fur of the most slender and firm legs he had seen in a good while. It was a pity that he only got to see as far as the ankles before traveling up a pair of jeans. Nice jeans. Could-be-tighter jeans. A hoodie above and like the jeans, hiding most everything but leaving plenty to the imagination. Then there was a face, and ooohhhh what a handsome face it was. Perfect complexion with short hair - something VERY strange for a kelpie but it looked refrshing, dashing, and new. Lovely little flowers were decorating both sides with long ribbons. The hair was deep black, and Calder felt his heart stop. A fully grown kelpie. Still young, maybe a year or so older than he was, but here he was walking by.

Calder breathed deep after nearly passing out from not breathing properly and then tried to decide what to do with himself. Stand here. Just so? Maybe over - Oh drats he was dropping his comb - wait, he caught it - maybe - wait - oh he caught it again. He'd just put that comb right here. Or here. On the table. No. He'd think he was vain. He'd put it under the table right here. Yes, Jimaridin, you watch that and don't get any leech slime on it. Was his hair okay? Jacket nicely set. He smelledddd good. Check. Did he have anything in his teeth? Eye junk? Fester? Tell him? Okay. Wait. Was his hair okay? He already checked that. Why was a kepie doing here? He didnt' see a kepie? Was he enrolling? Was he a townie? Never saw him before. Was there a clan nearby? Passing through? Oh no, a clan.

Calder stopped his flustering to look down at his anklet. If that boil saw that, he wouldn't even TRY being with him. Ugh. He...he had to do something. Looking about, he spotted one of his plushies and grabbed it, ripping the cravat off of it and tying it around his anklet to hide it. There. Now it just looked like he tied a piece of cloth around it. Yeah. Totally worked it. Nothing suspicious!

"I should go over there." He said, standing behind his booth and watching the boil. "....I should go over there and introduce myself." He took a deep breath. "I should go over there and introduce myself in a really cool way." Calder watched him and then slowly started to sink down till he was crouching, looking over the top of the counter. ".......he's so hot."

Eyes. She felt eyes on her. This normally wouldn't be such a big deal in a crowded public place but for some reason the intensity of the stare she was feeling in the back of her head was just...she couldn't not get curious. Someone was staring. Could they tell she didn't belong here? Did they know who she was? Was this the end of her mission? She sincerely hoped not. She had to do Aria and Caelius proud. Especially Caelius.

And Aria.

...Okay, so many she wanted them both to love her equally.

Especially Caelius.

Her ears gave a flick, jet black tail flicking side to side as she looked over her shoulder. Her hands were tucked into the front pocket of the hoodie, she was relaxed, she was..being stared at by a booth with ears. Candace blinked, turn on her heel hoof to face the booth. It was definitely not as fancy as the rest of the booths around here. It looked a bit pitiful. Cheap. Run down. It was sad, really. She raised a brow and began to trot closer to the booth, ignoring the clip clop of her hooves on the ground as best as she could. It wasn't that she hated the sound itself, she just hated that it was coming from her. This golem was so unsettling.

It could be worse, she could be a roadkill gnome.

These ears were pretty great, though! She could just barely make out the mumbling, enough that she knew that it was happening anyway. He shot? He shot what? "Hello?" She stepped up in front of the booth and put his hands on the table, being careful not to much too much weight on the construct in the event that her weight broke it. That would be bad. But what was this? A creature that looked somewhat similar to her golem! Ears, a tail, though she couldn't see its feet to tell if they were hooves or not. Its hair was pretty...it reminded her of Caelius' hair. She nearly sighed dreamily. "Everything okay over here?" Speaking was hard. She had to try and make her voice sound at least a little manlier. It was barely successful.

She had no idea she was making this creature's day.

Calder had been watching and sank down a bit more when he was noticed. Please don't come here. Please don't come here. Please done come here. The hunk of handsome turned and headed directly to his booth, causing his heart to beat with every hoof-fall from the other boil. Please don't find me. Please don't find me. Please don't find me. He wasn't even prepared. It wasn't like every day the gloomy skies darkened and dropped down such a gloriously grim creature. It must have been some special pumpkin that had created this boil.

Just as the hands fell upon the counter of his booth, his ears dropped and he sank to just being a pair of moss-green eyes looking up, ears flat and face turning red. WHAT DO I EVEN SAY TO HIM?!!! He was staring at him, here, RIGHT HERE, and TALKING to him. Say something. Stop being a total dork. He's going to think you're brain is rotten or something!

"Uh...uhh.....uh......HI" Calder bolted up like a daisy, gripping the edge of his coat tightly as he stood perfectly straight and rigid. Everything's Okay! How Are You?!" WHY WAS HE TALKING SO LOUDLY??!!! AAAHHHHH!!!

His nostals flared a bit as he breathed harder, trying to calm himself. Be cool! Don't blow this! He tried to be cool, setting one hand on the counter to lean in what he hoped was a very suave way. Instead, the combined force of three hands on his counter made the entire booth creak and start to lean one way. "Eep!" He grabbed the edge, holding it and digging his hooves into the ground and steadied the booth, looking up to judge if it was going to come down. When it seemed safe to let go, he did, and slowly eased his hands away. He wished he had more nails.

"Ah....Sorry." His voice was rather high pitched from nerves, but otherwise neither masculine or feminine. It could either be he had the voice of a young boil or that of a deep-toned ghoul.

As for this keplie's voice, it was LOVELY! Everything about this stranger was lovely. Calder could find no fault in him. NONE!

"aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH."

Robert landed face first on top of Calder's booth, rolled right off of it, and landed on his feet. Then he scuttled off before anyone could say a ******** style="font-size: 10px">ow-ow-ow-ow-"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 15, 2011 11:49 pm

Calder had tried to keep his booth up, and thought that after saving it once, he was in the clear. He had no idea a undead gnome was going to hit it like unscheduled hail and then roll off, and bounce away. It would have been amazing if it didn't cause his entire booth to creak and sway violently. A blow like that didn't agree with the poor construction and soon Calder was grabbing the counter and noticing that it was too late. Reaching out, he scooped up as many leeches as he could and jumped back, using one hand to grab the other kelpie's hand and drag him back as the entire structure toppled over in a massive heap. Buttons and plushies fell down as everything crashed inward.

Calder stood, looking at the mound of boards, tarp, and his various attempts at plushies. "Everyone okay?" He called out, and from the pile, leeches started to crawl out. No one seemed damaged. Sighing, Calder looked down and quickly released his hold on the other boil's hand. "SORRY!" He said, leaning down and setting the leeches down on the boards. It was as better place as any to put them.

Sighing, he looked at his booth. Maybe holding everything together with a few rusty nails and ropes wasn't the best idea. It wasn't like he could afford a batch of good nails.

Gah! Jumpy and attacking?! Candace's eyes widened and she gasped a little as the horse thing jumped up from behind the booth to greet her, ears perked on high alert. ******** horse ears. Er, kelpie ears. Kelpie. Kelpie. She was a kelpie. What did kelpie do? This student seems to be a kelpie as well. You would do well to learn from him, young one. Candace tried not to react to Atropos' strangely said comment. Young one? Seriously? Where the hell did she get lines like this as a weapon? It's not like she watched television. Her ear flicked at the kelpie's loud voice. Eugh. What the hell, kid?

...Was this a boil or a ghoul? She honestly couldn't tell.

"I'm okay, just checking out the festival and stuff. Was thinking of trying some games for some minipets." Her brow furrowed with what could be misconstrued as concern, but really it was her trying to think of how she should be acting. She knew nothing about friggin' kelpie. Sorry kids, Candace didn't spend her time reading up on what was supposed to be mythical creatures of legend and lore. She was busy doing big kid things. Things like, y'know, working at a goddamn career. Though look how wonderfully that worked out for her, now she was going to be doing this the rest of her life. A life that was apparently on the verge of ending right that second as the booth began to creak and groan unhappily from the Kelpie Thing's weight, taking a cautious step away from it. Help? Psh. This thing had it under control.

"Hey, it's okay. Don't worry. Your booth's looking a little--" Suddenly there was a scream gradually getting louder and louder.

..She knew that voice.

Before Candace could even look for him there was a gnome smashing face first into Calder's booth, completely obliterating it in a matter of seconds. It all happened so fast! The booth collapsing, Calder getting the leeches, Robert walking away...it was all too much. She laughed as her hand was grabbed and she was pulled away, stumbling alongside the other kelpie. Ahaha! "Oh man! Ahahaha! I know that gu--boil ahaha! Oh crap. That was just...s-sorry about your booth but PFFTAHAHA!" She gently pulled her hand away from the kelpie thing's to wrap her arms around her middle, nearly doubling over with laughter. ********! Robert! First you're a lawn decoration come to life and now you come out of the <******** SKY!? AHAHA! Best. Night. EVER.

"Aw man. Yeah." She chuckled and wiped away a few tears, grinning from ear to ear. ********. That was priceless. She'd have to go tell him he just made her day later. "I'm just fine. Oh man, that was hilarious. Real sorry about your booth though. I wasn't laughing at that, I swear. Just..pfftahaha. Oh, go--Jack. That was priceless. Where did he even..." Had to stop thinking about it. Had to stop thinking about it.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 16, 2011 11:46 am

Calder's ears went back at the sound of laughing. He didn't think this was very funny. In fact, he was rather miserable as he looked at his booth. "You know that boil? Well, you should tell him flying around when he can't land isn't a good idea, and what gnome flies around to begin with? That's what I'd like to know. Clearly they aren't mean to." To which he gestured at the pile that was now his booth.

"I worked so hard on that too. Had to find the planks and drag them up from the river and find nails and that tarp and put it up. Took me all day." He gave a long, loud sigh as he continued to look at his demolished booth and could very well spend the rest of the day sad, depressed, and working on getting it back up.

That was until he noticed how close he was to the other kelpie. They were talking together, and having a conversation. The other boil didn't turn up his nose at him, which probably meant he wasn't from his clan, and was just standing there laughing. In fact, this boil didn't have ANY plaid on which was really strange.

"Well.....I don't have any plans now with it raining gnomes......." He looked about, taking one hoof and digging the tip into the ground bashfully. "So...you said you were going to play games for minis. Do ya...mind company?" Please say no. Please say no. Please say no! Calder slowly looked up with wide eyes that only a pony-ish creature could give. Puppies had nothing on him.

She honestly didn't mean anything personal towards the kelpie thing by her laughter. She honestly didn't. Maybe if he knew Robert a little better he would find this situation hilarious as well. Clearly the kelpie thing didn't know Robert wasn't usually a tiny little undead lawn ornament. She snorted, keeping herself from laughing again. "I have a feeling he had a little, ah, help gaining the ability of flight." She smirked, looking off in the direction Robert had just left. But Kelpie Thing sounded really broken up about his...broken stand. It was just a booth, and a poorly made one at that. Though she could understand having something one had spent so long on just be completely in vain. Oh, she understood completely. It wasn't something she liked thinking about.

Candace didn't even realize she was so odd to look at for a kelpie. Really? Something odd to look at? Her? Really? Everyone here was weird looking! An ear perked up as the kelpie thing began going on about plans being ruined, tilting her head to one side. Yeah, an--oh...company? Ehhhhh...she didn't really want company from Kelpie Thing. Do not want. Do not want. Do not want! I bet you could use him~. What? You only have one seed. What if you lose a game and thus lose the seed? I'm sure he has extra seeds.

...Candace grinned. She liked the way Atropos was thinking! She draped an arm across the Kelpie Thing's shoulders. "Sure, why not! You can show me around, like where the best places for minipets are...oh..what's your name, anyway? I forgot to ask. My bad." Mostly because she didn't care. He was Kelpie Thing.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 16, 2011 3:26 pm

The weight of the other boil's arm coupled with his close proximety made him swoon a bit, eyes fluttering a bit as he breathed out. He was so close, and yet strangely didn't smell like water at all. Peculiar. He wondered if he just didn't have a swim recently, but he did smell.....strange. He couldn't place his finger on how he smelled. It was something rather new, and he tried to dedicate it to memory. This was the smell of the strange kelpie boil who came from the blue and was holding onto him, close by, like they were together.

And we get to spend time together.

He smiled wide at that, and eyes glimmer, he nodded. "My name is Calder. Calder of Devon." His tail flicked from side to side as he looked at the other boil. "I can show you all around. I've played lots of games already. Is there any particular minipet you want...uh.....um......what's your name?"

Candace had no idea what was going through Kelpie Thing's head, and frankly she wasn't sure she wanted to know. He seemed dazed, and there was a certain look in his eyes she wasn't sure she was quite comfortable with. Flags were raising in her head but the idea of winning over a local and making them her b***h on the first mission was more appealing than anything else. She would impress Aria and Caelius. She was determined!

Calder of Devon? What? Like...a clan name? Uh, okay. One ear lowered and the other ear perked up, raising a brow at the way his eyes shined. What the...? "Sure, that'd be great. What games are there? I haven't looked yet...and anything, really. But I'd really love some floresce, especially the..pretty rare ones." Oh yes. She definitely wanted at least one of those to watch explode again. It'd been so entertaining to watch before!

s**t. A name. She didn't think of a name! Uh...uh...! "Eh heh. My name? Ah...well...yes, my name. It's..it's a great name. Yeah. Uh." ********! s**t! Damn! Wait! Wait, she had the perfect name! "Cade." She blurted out, blushing a bit at her own stupidity. That was the worst name ever. It was basically just taking letters out of her name. Geeze, Candace. "Just Cade..."
