It was at least quiet other than a few random noises erupting from a pair of books locked up on a shelves hidden deep within the library they were not books Joachim felt the need to go looking for. Books were not meant to eat students or chew of random fingers or spit up some sort of slobbering mess. Besides the whole point of being in the library wasn't because he wanted to read some dusty pages his goal was to take a nap. The dorm was still rather lively and each time he tried to pull the sheets over his head and drown out one noise another seemed to rival it deepening the frown on his face so he went to the only other place he thought students wouldn't be.
He propped his feet up on an old table that was tucked in an unused area of the library as he propped one old book open across his chest another he held open in his hands resting in front of his face feeling rather comfortable but un-gentleman like. A passerby would have just mistaken him as someone reading unless they looked closer noticing his eyes were closed and his head hung tucked into the corner of the antique cushion chair. The only problem was despite looking asleep he really wasn't.
He tried to resist furrowing his brows or giving a disgusted look as the thought of still remaining a wake was starting to fringe on his nerves but he wasn't having any luck.
"Jackdamnit.." He hissed throwing the book from his hands across the table as he slouched further down the chair until he was only halfway on the cushion the other half of him propped up on the table.
"Please…I just want some sleep…."

"Why don't you go back to your room?"
If the boil turned around, he would find himself face-to-face with the small Baku ghoul who had spoken up. Careful to keep her voice soft, she offered him a small smile and polite nod of her head. "I-I'm sorry for intruding suddenly, I just overheard you, is all." Looking a little sheepish, she leaned down a bit so that he wouldn't have to stare up at her (granted that she was pretty short as-is, but shhh, don't burst her bubble). "But surely it would be more comfortable to sleep on a bed rather than hunched over on a chair? Why not retire to your dorm room if you're tired?"
The reason Xiu had decided to come to the library herself that day was to brush up on her botany knowledge. She carried a small stack of books in her arms, the titles all pointing to different herbs and their uses. In fact, when she leaned down, the topmost book slid off and landed with a loud clatter on the floor. Squeaking in embarrassment, the Baku quickly ducked down to retrieve it, grinning sheepishly at the boil as she shoved it back onto her pile.
"A-and...while the library is rather quiet, it can never be completely silent with so many other students milling about."

"ACK!" If it wasn't for the fact that he has so far slumped in the chair Joachim would have fallen out not realizing that anyone had been paying attention to his ranting. He had merely assumed that whatever he had been saying was in the privacy of his corner, apparently he was wrong. Immediately his face turned a crimson shade as he looked up at the ghoul who had spoken to him, "Errr... hi........ no its ok I mean... it's a library right?" He grew even redder as she leaned over slouching even further down into the chair to the point that he was really no longer sitting in it.
"Errr........ I tried sleeping there but there was too much noise...... besides it not like I am going to be able to sleep anyways so it doesn't matter I guess where I try to..." He gave a her a bit of a half smile that just looked more like a frown with the corners turned a bit. He winced a bit as the book clattered on the floor and made an attempt to reach for it however stopped as she quickly picked it up realizing that if he moved any more he was likely to end up on his butt on the floor.
"Well... at least the library is quiet for the most part right?...... Soo... you are studying plants?" Joachim noticed the topics of the books in her hand.

Oops! Seemed like she had startled him! Holding up her hands, the ghoul smiled nervously, her expression apologetic. "S-sorry, I...I didn't mean to scare you!" She shouldn't have been surprised though, considering that she pretty much just sneaked up on the poor boil like that. He was also looking a tad red--was he sick? Xiu frowned in concern, tail drooping. "A-are you alright? I didn't startle you that much, did I?"
She was a little puzzled by his words, but her attention was turned to her books when he mentioned them. "Hm? O-oh, yes! I like to research herbs, so..." She trailed off, smiling down at the stack of books. As strange as some people would find it, Xiu was genuinely excited to start leafing through these heavy tomes. "I've always found botany to be interesting!"
Before she could start blabbering, the Baku put her books down on the table and leaned forward towards the boil, taking in the dark shadows beneath his eyes with a small frown. "I-If I may be so bold to ask...what did you mean when you said you wouldn't be able to sleep no matter where you try to?"

Joachim shook his head as he attempted to prop himself up on his elbows a bit so he wouldn’t slide on to the floor. “No no, errr no you didn’t startle me I just wasn’t aware someone was there that’s all. It’s quite… quite ok really… I am the one who should be sorry I shouldn’t have jumped.” It really was his own fault it was a library why wouldn’t anyone else be there?
He couldn’t exactly tell but he assumed that her love for botany was about the same he had for dusty old pages of sheet music. Joachim loved finding them tucked away in books of composers or even his grandfather’s library squeezed between some of the old tomes it was almost as delightful as receiving a gift. “I think having an interesting in something is…. Good thing. I mean…… I can’t say I am a fan of botany myself but I must say I am fonder of music.” He gave a bit of a nervous laugh hoping that what he said didn’t offend her; really he had talent in killing plants then getting them to grow.
He was surprised, surprised and rather flushed in the face knowing for sure she could feel the heat rising to his cheeks as she looked at his eyes. “Errrr…errrrr……………… I can’t sleep… I mean I try but I can’t for the most part specially at night…. I mean sometimes I can sleep during the day but…. its short naps not really a deep sleep….” He felt a little awkward trying to explain this to her.

Music? The Baku perked up some at this, tilting her head to the side. "Oh, really? Do you play and instruments?" She seemed interested upon learning this fact, looking at the boil with a hint of curiosity. "I quite like music too, but...yes." Grinning, she fondly pat the stack of books that were now sitting on the table, "I'm more into plants, I suppose."
Her brows immediately knit together again, though for two reasons this time. One, because the poor boil was turning red again (really, did he have a fever?) and two, because he revealed that he had problems sleeping. "Is it insomnia?" Xiu wanted to know, frowning and tapping her chin thoughtfully, "Or perhaps you're just sick right now?" Again, she misinterpreted the blush on his face for something else. What didn't make sense to her, however, was that...well, wasn't someone who was sick supposed to sleep more? But this boil here looked like he hadn't had a proper night's sleep in a long time, if she were to judge by appearances.
"Oh! And um, also..." Trailing off, she held her hand out to him, smiling. "My name is Xiu. Xiu-Ying, actually, but most people just call me Xiu. And you are...?"
