If there are any other FTMs here, I stumbled upon this site called Hudson's FTM Resource Guide (found here) and so far it's been a complete godsend. I personally have learned a lot about bottom surgery from this resource guide and now I'm considering doing the surgery more and more (provided I have the funds). So I just wanted to share this piece of information with everyone. I'm not sure if there is a MTF guide floating around out there as detailed as this one. If I find one I'll post it up. If you have one, then by all means, please post it up. I've been transitioning for about 4 months now. If anyone else is from Miami, I also have resource guides for the city. 3nodding

If you find a link for the movie thing we both say about the older guy and girl getting a sex change that'd help people understand. xd Super graphic but it gets to the point, I hope people can understand all of that. heart
So have you ever been nervous about getting the operations done? I know I would be thinking of having people cutting into me.. burning_eyes {Says the girl who runs from butterflies and moths as if they were trying to eat me.. XD}

x.x I would. I could barely sit still for just getting my knee sewed up. Also for my tonsil surgery. I'm definitely too fidgety for the operating room.

I haven't seen the video you're talking about but I have heard of it. There is a new show on Discovery Health that I want to see called Sex Change Hospital. There, they go over different people going through the surgeries. It's not just a 50-something MTF as most of these documentaries tend to be.
As for the surgery, it's not a matter of nervousness. I have to get it done. If I don't, I'll be miserable for the rest of my life. If I live for much longer this way, I could even die from it. Yes, I know that sounds dramatic but depression can cause people to do insane things. So, to me, it's like going in for an operation that can ultimately save my life.
I'm very happy that there are new advancements in the surgery field. I hope as the years go by that there are even more of them (in total, this will cost me 80K because insurance will not cover a dime of it so I won't be ready any time soon).

Anesthesia isn't as bad as you might think. Yes, there are risks but everything medical is going to have risks. I wouldn't allow that to stop you. Going under is like going to sleep. You just wake up groggy wondering where the hell you were all that time. xd

Sparky the Panda A lot of those articles just make me really scared about my health and how to stay healthy. cry As long as you research, talk to a surgeon, join a support group and listen to recommendations you should be fine. Take care of yourself and make sure you are making the right choices for you. If you can get online resource or if there is a support group in your area, talk to them about having surgery. It's a big decision and shouldn't be taken lightly but it shouldn't be something to fear either. You have to make yourself complete if that's what you really want.

If you need anything, let me know. How long have you been transitioning? Well, I've been on testosterone for almost four months. I didn't know about all these health risks before I started, so it's a bit shocking. I mean, I knew that there were risks, but I didn't know what they were, specifically. I don't think I will stop taking hormones because the grief of that option outweighs the anxiety of continuing. But that anxiety still preoccupies me.

There's a lot more risk involved if you aren't getting blood tested for hormone levels and if a doctor isn't monitoring you. sad

Anyway, as long as they are keeping up with your blood levels and keeping an eye on you, you should be just fine. 3nodding
