So! An Oh, Dickens! book club.
We want this.
We need this.
Oh baby, oh baby.
So I was responsible for a sorta book club thing once upon a time. Granted, we were middle schoolers, but the basic tenet is the same, I think!
We read a book, then we discuss it via tinychat. Simple enough.
Here's what we need to consider. 1. How frequently to meet. Most book clubs do this once a month. For longer things, we could break it up over a couple of meetings. 2. When to meet. What days and times are good? 3. What to read. We could take turns picking, maybe? Keep in mind availability, though- we shouldn't read anything too obscure because most libraries wouldn't have it. But the way we used to do this was whoever's turn it was would pick the book and be responsible for kicking off the discussion.

Oh. My. GOD.
I think maybe monthly meetings...? I am almost always available on Mondays for sure and week nights are pretty solid for me. Taking turns on picking sounds awesome too.

Weeknights work out pretty well for me, too! Much better than weekends, actually.

I've never done a book club before! I actually hate discussing books! Can I read along and just get blitzed in a corner of tinychat while you guys talk?

I love book clubs! 8U
I can, at this time, basically meet at any time on any day. LOL. I'm cool with once-a-month meet ups. c:
Also, for picking books, maybe we can agree on a genre and then nominate books? Like for a few months, we'll read Sci-Fi books, and nominate different books from that genre. OR AUTHORS. Pick one author and do a couple of his books, then swap to another author?

Bombz, you can do whatever you want. You don't have to say a damn thing about the book- this ain't like that book club in lost where things got un-fun real fast.
That is a good suggestion, Donut! Maybe after a while, we can put the picking suggestions to a vote.

AHHHH YES
I dunno if I'll be able to participate reliably every month, but I will definitely do it when I can! (and probably show up for the tinychat anyway, haha)

Can we pick something really, really bad to read?
And nothing heavy like 600 pages and with big words. Michie is dumb as a brick.

Although, it should probably still be readable at least. Bad, but not so bad that it's torture to try to get though it.

I vote we hold meetings on weekends around the middle of the day. I have stuff going on at night and in the mornings almost every day.
For the first book, may I suggest we read The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury~? I read it when I was younger and quite enjoyed it, though I've forgotten most of the details.
