Most people would be stoked to drive a car upon acquiring their driver’s license, but Hayden could care less. She had been riding a bike for as long as she could remember and she was content with keeping it that way. Unless she wanted to become a dog—and she didn’t—she wanted to enjoy the sensation of wind brushing against her face and ruffling her hair as she raced down the streets and furiously peddled her bike. Besides, riding a bike was environmentally friendly.

She eased down the streets, calmly relinquishing her hold on the handle bars to brush her bangs away from her face. Hayden passed by stores and restaurants, but none managed to catch her eye. She idly twirled one of her braids as she yawned. It wasn’t particularly early, only a bit before noon, but she had stayed up late, watching videos, conversing with friends, and staying out late—much to her parents’ chagrin. Hayden continued to pedal as she fished around through her pocket for a list of items her mother had instructed her to pick-up.

“I wonder if she’d mind if I decided to take a break?” she mused aloud with an innocent tilt of her head. Small buildings quickly gave way to trees and plants as Hayden realized that she was passing by the local soccer field. She stopped, straddling her bike as she observed the lack of people. Huh. Well, at least there were a couple people hanging around.

She swung her leg over the seat and kicked the stand down. Hayden strolled through the grass, curiously waving at the lone man playing soccer by himself. “You look a bit lonely playing by yourself. Mind if I join?”

Sedna wasn't alone .. Well, not until now, when several males that had been called temporary teammates left the field a little while ago. But Sedna hadn't wanted to leave the field yet. Hence, the reason why the soccer ball still remained by his feet.

"Me? A little lonely? Must have been your imagination. Me, gravity, air and the goal have been getting well acquainted. Although since we're all a bunch of sweating males here, I'm sure that they don't mind a Missy joining in." Sedna gestured as he introduced his "companions," grinning as he spoke.

Obviously, his companions were a talktative bunch, considering the two-sided conversation.

She quirked her eyebrows while amusedly grinning at him. Hayden held back a chuckle as she answered, “Pardon my lack of observation, it seems I was too entranced by your dashing good looks to realize you had company. It’s almost as if I’ve fallen in love at first sight.” She playfully curtsied, fingers nimbly holding onto the edges of an imaginary dress. It was a shame she was wearing jeans at the moment, but a skirt or dress would be too much of a hindrance to properly play sports. She was grateful for at least that. “It’s a pleasure to meet you all.”

“By the way, my name is Hayden.” Smiling calmly, she took her time as she walked towards Sedna and the ball. “I’ve never really played soccer seriously, but I’ve been told I’m quick on my feet.”

"Love at first sight? That won't do-- Romeo and Juliet fell in love at first sight and look how that ended out. Luckily for me, it's an 'almost' so that means I'll have a good chance on not being sued for you taking poison on my account." Sedna laid a hand on his chest, a sigh of relief escaping him, lowering his shoulders as he sighed.

"I'm Sedna. Quick on your feet is a great start, you're already halfway across the finish line!" Sedna made a swinging motion with his hand, presumably gesturing towards an invisible one foot track as he gestured to some vague sort of half line. With a well-timed kick backwards, to the ball that rested on his feet, the ball soared from behind his back to over his head .. and promptly towards Hayden.

Hayden grinned. “But sir, it seems you have failed to notice that we are not Romeo and Juliet—so who knows how the story would end? I’m very confident that unlike a certain thirteen-year-old girl, I would not kill myself simply to join my lover in death. That is plain silly.” Her literature teacher had been absolutely enthralled with the tragic love story. While Hayden enjoyed Shakespeare’s style, she had not enjoyed Romeo and Juliet. The only saving grace, in her opinion, was Mercutio, and he died.

“Halfway, you say?” she repeated as she leaned toward the imaginary half line, as if to get a closer look. Hayden watched on as he kicked backwards, sending the ball over his head and to her. Her eyes widened as her mind vaguely registered the kick—it was rather impressive and something she saw rarely. Reflexes told her to catch the ball with her hands. Her arms moved forward, but immediately stopped as she let the ball bounce off her chest and fall to the ground between her feet. “A bit sudden, don’t you think?” She laughed as she glanced past Sedna and at the goal post.

"We're not tragic teenagers derived of sensible and rational emotions?" Sedna's face formed a surprised open-mouthed expression, a thumb pointed reversed towards himself. "Are you sure that I wont go kill myself to join my lover in death?" Sedna looked around, presumably for his "male lover." Sedna had no particular opinion about Romeo and Juliet, taking it as it was. A story. Nothing more, nothing less.

His body turned slightly to the side, one hand on his hip in a waiting posture, watching the female catch it neatly against her chest. "Sudden? No, I just trusted your quick reflexes."

He wasn't going to let her through to the goal.

Hayden briefly closed her eyes and placed her hand on her chest. “I know, it must be absolutely shocking to you, but you’ll just have to bear with it.” She smiled warmly. “Don’t worry, I’m here for you every step of the way.” She seemed horrified by the proposition and again pressed her hand over her heart. “Oh no, Sedna. That just won’t do! If you do that I will feel absolutely guilt-ridden for the rest of my days.”

She grinned, placing her foot on top of the ball. “I’m glad to know you trust my abilities so quickly.” Hayden dribbled a couple steps forward, but not enough to pose a threat. After a couple seconds of doing nothing, she cocked her head and waited another beat before rushing toward Sedna and the goal.
