For Umbuji, today had proceeded just like any other day. The great, lazy, dusty colored lion had arisen from his deep sleep, meandered to his favorite rock, and had taken up his favorite morning activity of sunbathing. He loved sunbathing, the way the sun poured over his body made him feel like he was melting. His grey blue eyes liked to watch the clouds as he lay their, tumbling and turning in the sky to form new shapes. He sometimes liked to try and pick out clouds shaped in the form of things he knew. That morning, he'd seen a rabbit and a bird cloud.

After he was done sunbaking for the morning, the large lion had retired to an old, forlorn tree. He liked to relax in the tree, because the shape was perfect for his body, the branches curving in just the right way that he could be suspended in the most comfortable shape.

Oh what a life.

For Bweka, the morning had gone anything but smoothly. But that was what the orange leopardess had expected. Nothing ever seems to go her way. The morning she'd awoken in the wrong spot of her den. How annoying. The spot was no where near as comfy as her normal sleeping spot, and it didn't get the morning sunlight. Awoken in a foul mood, Bweka had taken out her temper on almost anything that came into contact with her. A passing snake had gotten a flick up into the nearest tree. A family of meerkats had one of their entrances filled in. A warthog had received a warning swipe when she was visiting her favorite waterhole and he was in her favorite drinking spot.

All in all, not a good day to meet Bweka. Tired of her morning business, Bweka had decided to find a nice tree to sit and relax in.

Ah! There's one!

The leopardess made her way over, only to find that the tree was already taken. Well, Bweka was not having any of this.

"Hey!" She yelled out. "Get out of that tree, I want to use it."

She glared at the shape with her golden eyes, wating for it to move.

Umbuji had almost fallen into a sleep, before he was interrupted by a high pitched voice demanding he get down from the tree. Who is she to tell me where I can and cannot sit? He thought to himself. The lion sighed. She certainly didn't sound like one of his normal, friendly rogue encounters, and he wasn't even sure he wanted to turn around to see who it was. But, not having a mean bone in his body, Umbuji turned from his position in the tree to see who was calling him.

His grey blue eyes met the golden ones staring back at him with confusion. What have I done to deserve to be treated like this? He wondered.

"Hello," he called out, trying to sound cheerful. "I'm sorry, but this tree is occupied, but I'm sure you could find plenty more around my friend."

Bweka's golden eyes bore holes in the back of Umbuji before he turned around. Hurry up, she thought, I want to relax! The leopardess beat the groun with her tail impatiently until he finally turned face to face.

She glared at him as he spoke. "Friend? You're not my friend," she said matter of factly. Bweka had no friends, no one could stand her.

"And I don't care that that tree is taken, that's the one I want!" Her face contorted into an ugly form, glaring, snarling and frowning all at the same time. Didn't the lion know that when she wanted something, she got it, after all, she did put up with so much trouble this morning.

What an unfortunate soul, thought Umbuji to himself, a sad expression crossing his face. Never before had he encountered someone so... difficult. He was certain that they would not end up being friends, but he couldn't help but want to try, want to try and soften the the orange leopardess.

There's no point sitting up here, he thought, and lept down to the ground and walked up to the leopardess.

"Wow," he started, "I've never met anyone quite like you. Are you always so grumpy?" He laughed in hopes that a bit of light heartedness might ease the conversation. One could only try, right?

Finally, she thought as the lion moved from the branches of the tree and onto the ground. The orange leopardess began to move towards the tree, but suddenly the lion was in her way!

"Excuse me." She spat, frowning once more, her golden eyes still glaring.

"What do you mean like this?" She queried, angry that someone had made a personal attack on her. She discarded the laughter, a failed attempt to hide his put down.

"I'll have you know that, like always, things have not gone my way, I just want to relax!" She huffed, pushing past his great body and making her way to the tree.

Umbuji was shocked that she'd taken his attempt at being friendly in the wrong way. Despite his trying, this was going just how he had imagined it in his mind. He let out a soft sigh before trying again.

"Look miss..." he started, before being pushed out the way of the leopardess as she made her way to the tree. Wow, he thought in bemusement, someone definitely woke up on the wrong side of the den before.

"Hey, so I don't know why're your so grumpy, but that's no way to treat someone!" He called after her, turning to follow her back to the tree. She at least needed to learn about courtesy!

She tried to ignore him as she lept up into the branches of the tree and made herself comfortable, but his voice would just not stop! Bweka turned her head and once more, sent daggers of death from her golden eyes towards the cream colored lion who was so persistant in talking to her. Couldn't he take a hint?

"I don't care!" she called down to him, not even bothering to turn around.

"Just leave me alone already! I'm not giving you this tree if that's what you want. I saw it first, even if you may have been in it already, I bet I saw it before you. So just leave." She sighed and stretched out her paws.

Her tail dangled from the branches, flicking in aggrevation.

Ugh! Though the cream colored lion. There's just no point, she obviously doesn't want to listen to anything else people have to say. Umbuji looked back at her in disgust, a face he doesn't pull very often, for he is a friendly lion and tries his best to get along with everyone. Unfortunately, this was just one of those case where the other individual doesn't care about anything but themselves.

"Fine," he grumbled, annoyed that he'd given her the satisfaction of the tree.

"You can have it, there's plenty more elsewhere." He nodded, and further away from you, he added as an afterthought.

"Good bye." And with that, he turned and left her to the tree she wanted so dearly.

STILL TALKING! The orange leopardess rolled over to face him again, even more annoyed that he hadn't left. Didn't he listen? She glared some more, hoping he would get the point.

"Lalalalala~" she sang as he tried to talk, drowning him out with her own annoying voice. It was obvious she didn't care she was being a brat. She'd gotten what she wanted and that was all that mattered.

"FINALLY!" She cried in happiness when he announced that he was leaving. "I can rest in PEACE!"

As the sound of his footsteps got softer and softer she called out to him. "Good riddance!"

Finally content, Bweka made herself comfortable in the branches of the tree, and dozed off into a midday nap.
