The thought had crossed Mayrah'kirra's mind lately that it would be beautiful if she could have pups of her own. Especially since there were pups running around left and right, lately. Her heart had slowly began to become set on the idea, and eventually, she just decided. She wanted to have cubs, and she wanted to have them with Kero. This was what brought her to that little sunny crag that he'd showed her, the soft, pretty spot that she figured that eventually, he'd bring himself. Hopefully this woulnd't take too much explaining....
Kero yawned as he strolled out to his sunny spot. He didn't have anything better to do for the moment, and though he wasn't exactly tired, a nap in the sun sounded wonderful regardless of his energy levels. He didn't expect to see Miss Rainbow's End there, but there Mayrah was, and his ears pricked up when he spotted her. Oh boy oh joy oh wonderfu day miss Mayrah Rainbow's End was here! Overjoyed, he bounded forward, forgetting any and all propriety he might have known in his sheer happiness at seeing her. "Hi hello I didn't know you were coming out here are you okay do you need to rest some more can I do anything for you what should I do to help you?"
She laughed as he bounded over, getting up and moving over to him, rubbing her head under his chin, and gently nipping it, her sign for him to be quiet, "Kero, dear. I'm fine. I've just been watching the Pack lately. It's nice, seeing all the pups coming into the Pack. I was kind of thinking..." She was slightly flushed under her pelt, and her paw kind of toyed with the dirt, "...I was thinking that you and I could have pups of our own, Kero." Her heart swelled a bit at the thought of being with pup. It would make the Pack very happy.
Kero fell silent to let Mayrah talk, folowing his cue. But when she mentioned pups he had to speak up again.... if just to express his confusion. "Us? But... how would that work and why would you need me? Don't you dig the pups out of the ground?" The question would have been hilarious if it hadn't been genuine. As it was, Kero truly thought that was how he and all of his siblings, both littermates and not, had been born. What did Mayrah need him for? He knew he had a dad but he wasn't really sure how he had contributed to it since pups wre dug up in hs mind.
She blinked, looking at him. A bit incredulous that he was even asking, "....Kero...Pups come from inside a female....We give birth to them. You don't dig them up." Sighing, she licked his ear, "And males are needed for making the babies..." The femme wasn't sure how he DIDN'T know this, but since it was Kero, she supposed it made sense.
Kero tilted his head and blinked. "Oh. So the males do help! I couldn't figure out how and no-one ever told me they just ignore me it's kind of frustrating really I'm sorry that I don't know really is it something I should know by now is it something I can learn?" He trailed off after a moment, realizing that he had been chattering again. He really needed to work on that. But he still wasn't entirely sure how he was supposed to help Mayrah with having pups and how did they come from inside the mother anyway? That made less sense than digging them from out of the ground! Which brought to mind another question. "But if they're not dug up then how is their fur painted the right colors?"
She smiled a bit, and seemed to think slowly, "Well....I can teach you, I suppose. It;s not too hard to figure out." This was making her a bit uncomfortable, but more in the embarrased way, not in the 'ogawd' way. Pawing at the ground, she thought, "....Their fur comes from their parents, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. At least....that was how my mother explained it to me. The Gods choose their colors while they're in the female."
"Oh, I get it now! That makes more sense than what I thought before," Kero said - he didn't have any reason to doubt Mayrah, after all. She was one of the few in his life who he could completely trust. She wouldn't lie to him. He couldn't say the same for his brothers or sisters, or even his parents, really. He still didn't totally understand, but he would do anything he could to make Mayrah happy. "You're be great with pups though, I know that. You'd be great with them and they would be wonderful and gorgeous just lik you and smart and nice and special and amazing and so many great things!"
Mayrah laughed lightly, and licked his ear, "They'll be the perfect pups, alright. And I hope one is a little chatterbox like his daddy." Smiling lovingly, she got to her paws, trotting over towards a secluded area, where no one could potentially spot her and Kero, "We'll gp pver here." This was going to be SO odd for her. She'd never mated before....What was she supposed to say? Well...Hopefully there was some semblance of instinct there that would take over.
"Do you really think one would talk as much as me? I'm not sure that's possible I mean I talk so much about so many things can there really be two of us, I don't think it would ever be quiet around here then and that could lead to bad things, very bad things because even I know that you have to be quiet sometimes but I didn't as a pup and it would be like starting all over again except there might be more than one and how would anyone ever keep up?" Kero asked, his long winded, babbled question more a sign of concern over future pups than anything else. "I bet they'll be really smart though so very smart and sweet and kind and talented and lots of them will be just like you and do really well and I hope there are a lot of girls!" Only then did he notice that they were walking towards something of a private area. "Oh is this sommething we do in private because I guess that makes sense since that's what happens before pups are ever born I never noticed that before!"
