The Academy stood tall and white against the rest of the island. As of yet, the building was still quiet and peaceful, only with the occasional seasoned student quietly walking down the halls, and a stray boom heard in the distance from the training grounds. But with the impending arrival of all the new students, this would surely change soon.
A mass of people suddenly stirred the calmness of the Academy, but unlike normal, this was not a group of students. It seemed that the entire ensemble of teachers, trainers, mentors and even the three founders had decided to show up. But then again, this was a big day. A lot of new academy students were coming in - new sidekicks.
The group settled naturally on the front steps of the academy, founders in the front, and mentors, teachers and trainers filling in the space behind them in an unspoken hierarchy. The odd current student could be seen watching the new students with judgemental eyes from the windows, before quickly disappearing from the keen eyes of their mentors. Some mentors were smiling, others were frowning, but most seemed at least somewhat pleased to see new students join the ranks.
This was it. Not just the beginning of a new chapter in the book of the Academy, but also in life of all the new students.

Damien sighed and crossed his arms. Why he needed to be there for this... 'event', he did not understand. Those students he would need to meet, he would meet in his classes, correct? The rest would not even remember his name, nor would they care. He honestly did not understand the need for such an event at all. Certainly, most of the children would rather just be shown to their room, and then start mingling with their new classmates. None of them would have much interest in meeting their new teachers on top of everything else.
He sent a moody look to the founders, wishing that perhaps he had had some other ability. Like mind-control or lasers coming out of his eyes. He would even have traded with the Invisible Cat, if just for today. Being a were-pard wasn't of much help right now. Although, perhaps he could edge his way towards the back, change form, and then slink away with no-one worse for the wear. He glanced around, calculating the possible rate of success. On the other hand, that look The Captain had just shot him certainly suggested that he should probably stay in his spot in the front row, along with all the other mentors. Escape plan failed.

‘Now, this is intense’ Zone thought to himself while discreetly glancing around with clenched fist at his side. He can’t believe he was nervous on this day, that this meeting actually made him tense than starting a fight or being in missions. He concluded that it was harder to stand still in this place than charging into an enemy territory. ‘Was it this troublesome when I first got here?’ he tried to recall. He noticed Damien’s uneasiness, ‘Is he just excited to meet them or does he want to take the loo?’. Zone failed to see that Damien does not wish to stay here and was rather looking for a way out, because he was the one excited to meet the new recruits even if his face said the opposite. He was so anxious that he cannot crack a smile, instead he frowned and some of the children avoid making eye contact with him. If someone would compare the two, Zone would look like the one whose forced being here.

She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, careful not to touch any of the other students. She didn’t know what their abilities were and she didn’t need one of the carefully trimmed hedges spontaneously combusting because she gave some kid a power spike. She wasn’t too worried about what affect her powers might be having on the students around her because all things considered she was pretty calm. There was a lot to be nervous about, she was just starting at new school full of new people far away from and everything she knew (not to mention the act that everyone around her was super powered), but this was a decision she had made and there was no point worrying about things that hadn’t happened yet.
Many of the faces she could see on the steps were ones she recognised; heroes she had seen on the news and in the papers. These were going to be her teachers. The thought was absolutely ridiculous but they were the only people for the job. Who else could be expected to teach them to use their powers? It was expected, Dani knew, for many of the students to go on to be heroes but that wasn’t why she was here. (She wasn’t really the daring rescue type.) She kept her eyes on the founders – the ones who were clearly running the show – and waited with polite attentiveness for the assembly to begin.

Straffe had a good feeling about the Island Academy and the warm welcome mats stretched out before the other new students, like him. He felt relatively at ease in the crowd of other students, afterall, they seemed as bright-eyed and new as he was! This could be a great day; the nice weather, the feeling of fresh meat, the smiling teachers and famous heroes from television! What wasn't to like? He inhaled the smells of the academy, letting some of his pleased smile show on his face. And the best part? Truly... the best part by far? No five year olds running under his legs and knackering him with robot plastic toys that had unnerring nerf-ball gun accuracy for eyes. Straffe had a small, happy sigh. There was a lot of shuffling and moving around as people got their gear from the various transports the students had arrived on. Straffe wondered how many would be boarding and how nice the rooms would be. Would he have to share, or get a whole room to himself? A whole room. That was like... peace and quiet. And sleep-ins. And no bed wetting! But it wouldn't be all fun and games, his eyes widened as he saw some of the teachers outright glowering- yes, some of these teachers wanted to train you in discipline and the way of a hero. Although he was sure he would get along just fine- afterall, he was a willing vessel to be filled. Still, he might have to work harder if he wanted to get along with all of the teachers. Or would he get along? Straffe shook the thought out of his head. Hard work and a smile would no doubt work! He just had to believe in himself. Mr Einreihard shifted his bags at his feet. God, he really had just thought that! Hopefully no one could read his mind and knew exactly how cheesy it had just gotten in there.

xxxx━━━━━━━━━━━━ xxxxBasia Hartington xxxx━━━━━━━━━━━━ xxxxxxxxx◆ Gateway
When their helicopter was finally rescued, powered up and on their way towards the academy, Basia started getting a little uneasy. Sure she'd been excited at first, getting to see what was out there and not being stuck in a house until nighttime, but she was about to go to a school, with students, who had powers; that was the scary part. Of course, even being in the helicopter with the two students had been somewhat scary, especially considering one of them had showed her his powers and she'd sent him down into the water. The girl hadn't talked, and seemed somber so Basia had been unable to ask her what her power was. Thankfully, the rest of the fight proved to be quiet, and no more purple tentacle fighting for today, but Basia was exhausted mentally, this was a lot to take in on a single day.
When they did land, Basia was the first to be sticking her face into the glass to stare at her surroundings. Students were making their way over to the steps and a pack of them had already gathered. Their teachers, also heroes, were on the steps and Basia recognized a few from the newspapers, she let out a little 'wow'. The helicopter door was opened and Basia stepped out first, the guy who had opened the door pointed towards the other kids, that was her destination. Basia would have waited for the two others, but they were probably already a little late and she needed to hurry if she didn't want to miss anything. Basia reached the end of the mass of students, then carefully made her way closer to the front, she finally settled beside a girl and waited for some sort of announcement.

_ _©ⓛⓐⓘⓡⓥⓔⓡⓔ ± ©ⓛⓞⓦⓡⓔⓨ ⓔⓘⓡSo this was Sidekick Academy.
And those around her, would be her classmates and professors.
"It's reeks here. Like that cat." "You sure that's just not all cat? I mean it was like hugging a block of cheese." Diluted browns eyes watched behind shaded lenses, at the looming shadow by her side. The teen of 15 years of age, smiled at him, going on: "C'mon, it'll be fun. New places to explore, new adventures to be had..." "New trials to endure." The girl blinked, noting the shadow's grave tone, before surprisingly, she laughed. "You can make even something foreboding sound SO fruity."
Cudoroy let out a sigh at her amusement of him, arms folding with discontent. After a glance around, he'd already deemed this place 'trivial'; all these brats around them, and the idea of a foundation of heroism was...Well, for the most part, sounded ridiculous to him. Then again, he only cared about one brat in this world, and she wanted to be here bad enough...He didn't have much chance to protest. He patted her head of brown hair; although he had no physical body to speak of, the notion was comforting to both Corduroy...and Clowrey.
The young adolescent moved onwards, towards the square at the front of the Academy. They had yet to take their first true step on Academy Life itself, and several students were already crowding at the front. "You shouldn't have gotten so distracted by that cat," Corduroy commented. "Well we're here, aren't we? And nothing has started yet." The two bantered off for a little while longer, the both of them forgetting that Corduroy had a voice and form only to Clowrey...No one was really looking, anyhow.
"Bah--It's too ******** bright today..." Groaning a tad Clowrey took off her transition glasses, and rubbed her irritated eyes. When she opened them again, they had become pitch black..."That's better," she grinned, tucking away her specs. At that moment, Corduroy caught sight of a boy in a silver costume..."Should you have worn some sort of 'Heroine' attire as well?" "What? Naw--I'm not the dress-up type. I'm not the only one either...So there's no harm in wearing regular clothing." "I don't know about that..."

She had clearly just arrived, she seemed as though she had been moving quite quickly to get here too which was probably a good thing, because it looked like The Captain might begin speaking at any moment. She could tell, casting a cursory glance at the new girl from the corner of her eye, that she was probably about her age. She had a slim figure and a perky blond bob cut but her most interesting feature was easily her eyes; almost black with pink irises. How fascinating. She wondered what the other girls powers might be and how they affected her eyesight. Only one of the group she had known back home had had an obvious physical eye mutation like that and they had been able to see through other people’s eyes. Maybe this girl could do something like that too? Or shoot laser beams from her eyes? If that were the case then Dani would have to find out if they were the kind of power she was able to redirect or not. How many other kids at this school would have those kinds of powers? Dani wondered how much the teachers would allow them to do in the name of sientific experimentation and if asking other kids to shoot her was against some kind of school policy...
When her mind eventually wandered back onto the tracks she realised that she had been staring and she sheepishly turned her own – remarkably less fascinating – eyes back to the front.

If Jenner could have blended into the shadows with his ability, he would have, if only to sneak out of this damned thing. Though he'd only been a part of a few assemblies and meet-and-greets at his public school, he'd developed a distinct distaste of the events. Too many people, too many Live Shadows, and too much talking. Unfortunately, it seemed like the assembly hadn't even begun. He'd arrived early, if not on time. Brilliant.
He breezed through the mass of students, pausing to discreetly stare at a few of them that were pretty obviously not normal. Yikes. At least he hadn't been born with green scales. He moved past a few girls, and stopped towards the front of the mass of students, holding his backpack firmly in case someone tried to knock into him. He'd managed to fit the majority of his things in the bag. It made for easy moving back and forth, which he certainly planned on doing once he could figure out a way to hijack a boat...
All of these thoughts seemed to disipate when he actually looked up the steps. These were the teachers. More importantly, the heroes. Of course he recognized them. Who wouldn't? While Jenner had been quietly dreading the Academy, he couldn't shake the awe he felt to be standing in front of the heroes of their world. The Captain, Binary, Phoenix... "Wow." He muttered without realizing it, stepping back half a step. Surely they could see what he'd done in the past, right? Wasn't that how super powers worked?
Crap. He was never going to fit in with these hero-types.

John Doe, or better known to the public as The Captain, beamed radiantly at the gathering crowd of students. Today was a good day; the weather was beautiful, there were new kids arriving, older kids coming back, no villain alerts the whole morning...
Well some of the other heroes were a little antsy, but that was probably nerves, judging from how stone faced they were looking. Zone, who was usually so composed, had an expression that would scare all but the bravest of people, and rocks. And Damien had looked about ready to bolt any moment, until he'd warned the were-pard with A Look. Everyone had to be here, it was a meet-and-greet for the new students after all, and it wouldn't do to have anyone missing.
But the best thing about today was the fact that - by some minor miracle - the two other founders of the Academy were here too. Normally Phoenix would be off trying to save a life, either as Dr Amelia Dane or her hero alter ego, and Binary would've given some lousy excuse about crime being an ever evolving virus to not turn up.
But today, BOTH of them were here, his two best friends, standing on either side of him.
Today was a good day indeed.
"How much longer do we have to wait?" Binary muttered impatiently from his right.
"Patience James, it'll start in good time," Phoenix said soothingly from his left, ever the pacifist. Binary looked unconvinced.
"John," Phoenix turned towards the brunette, "when ARE we going to start? Most of the new arrivals are here already, and the older kids have been waiting since awhile ago - "
"Phoenix, we've been waiting for 46 minutes, that is hardly 'awhile'," Binary said dryly.
"Oh please," Phoenix said with a dismissing wave of her hand, "you whine when the supercomputer takes about 10 seconds more to boot up than usual - "
"I do not. Whine." Binary retorted with a glare that would melt through bricks. "I programmed and calibrated the NEX myself and I am fairly certain I would know how long the bloody machine takes to boo-"
The Captain cleared his throat loudly, loud enough that silence fell over everyone in present in the field, including Binary and Phoenix. He took a step forward, smiled, and raised his arms in welcome.
"A good morning to all of you, and welcome, to the academy! I am The Captain, and with me today, are Binary, Phoenix, and the rest of the heroes who will guide you on your way to becoming the next generation of heroes."
Behind him, he heard a soft -tt- of disapproval. Oh yes, Binary didn't like children, no matter how cute or charming. It was almost as if the man had never experienced childhood before... John sometimes wondered whether James was perhaps born an adult.
"There are very few people who know about this island," The Captain continued, "and the fact that each and every one of you managed to discover AND locate this place is no mean feat. To find us, you needed motivation, a reason to be here. Then you had to do research, do a lot of digging, before you found out what we actually do here. Finally, you had to get here by travelling through a long and dangerous path, full of traps and lethal contraptions."
There was another tut, this time from Phoenix. She never did approve of Binary's "security" methods from the beginning, even though it was quite effective at keeping most villains out.
"And after all those trials and tribulations, here you are, still in one piece. You have proven yourselves to be intelligent, resourceful, and above all, determined. So today, I stand here with everyone, happy to offer you a place in the academy, a place you can call a second home, a place where you will - "
A loud wail in the distance interrupted his speech. The sound was coming from the direction of... the Sister Islands. The Captain strained his ears, trying to identify the source of the wailing. Phoenix and some of the other heroes were already running off to take a closer look, and Binary was tapping away furiously at a laptop he wasn't carrying earlier. A murmur started to build up in the audience.
"Can you find out who it is?" The Captain whispered to Binary.
"Of course I can," the white haired man replied smartly. He gave the keys a final tap and turned the laptop towards the brunette. It was a video feed, showing a large oil tanker being attacked by a whole school of sharks, plus some distressed looking sailors being assaulted by two fast moving figures.
"Blue Rose, Heartbreaker, and Leviathan."
The Captain sighed, good things never last for long, but it was good while it did.
"Well uh," he turned back to the students, who were now very distracted by the visible disturbance in the distance.
"Forget your damn speech," Binary said curtly as he packed his laptop away, "we have to go."
John sighed. James, always so eloquent.
The Captain smiled at the remainder of the crowd who still had part of their attention on him. "Enjoy the rest of your day!" he said brightly. "And remember to go explore the training grounds, we put a lot of work in them. And there's food - "
"CAPTAIN."
"Alright alright, I'm coming..."
Grabbing Binary under the arms, The Captain took off to the skies, flying towards trouble, closely followed by Phoenix on a jet ski.
Just another regular day in Megapolis.
((sorry this is such a longass post, I cut out some parts about Binary and Phoenix but AUGH still so long OTL))

It was so exciting to see the legendary heroes themselves, in the flesh, not fifty meters away- and calm and cool--- and then gone. Very gone. Sunburst watched the three heroes flying off, like many of the other new students no doubt, just a little disbelieving. Then again, fighting crime and saving the day was what they did, right? And that was what the people around him were training for.
It did make Straffe wonder if he'd ever rush off into the night, hoping to save the day from giant sand-monsters or lizardmen hellbent on destruction. First he had to learn how to throw a ball of light in a straight line, though. He slowly turned back to the adults still present- the ones that hadn't just been called away on emergency.... were they going to finish the speech? Give tours? Check names off lists?
Suddenly he felt like he was just on a school excursion, expecting the adults to be vainly attempting order in chaos. And then he saw someone with scales and a pair of fins where ears should be- no, he was not in a regular school, this was the Academy, where glowing in the dark was not that unusual.
The seventeen-year-old shifted his baggage, he just hoped they weren't standing out here all day, it had been a long trip to the Island and he'd been so nervous he'd skipped breakfast. At least the teachers didn't look panicked right? Normally when a villain caused chaos, regular teachers looked panicked. It was actually sort of liberating. Except now the students were alone with some of the less than excited looking teachers. He stopped himself from rolling back and forth on his feet. There was probably a principal, right? A speech about morals and ethics and school lockers? Or would it be about tentacles and dodging villains and then school lockers with laserbeams?
Straffe felt some of the kids around him also shuffling in attention, apparently, they were also wondering who was in charge now? Which adult would be issuing the instructions. At least this would probably get easier with time. Probably.

Costumes or uniforms?
Zone is a bit awry with fancy outfits. He only wears wearable clothes that don’t attract attention, but having a blue camouflage pants wasn’t really common and he showing his face isn’t really good in covert missions. Well, he dressed as a nobody when in civilian and outside the academy, weird but that’s when he tries to hide his face. He’s also proud of being a hero, well a newbie hero and a newbie staff.
“This isn’t some Halloween party you know” he grunted to himself looking at the kids wearing their costumes, amazed by their effort. “At least some people trust their identities to their future school mates” he glanced towards the kids in civilian clothes.
The Captain stood on the front, adjusting himself before he makes his speech. Zone admired the founders and he was glad that the trio was complete on this important day. It was getting awkward though with Binary and Phoenix fighting and it kept the Captain from starting.
Zone remembered that he wanted to ask Binary for the details on the gadgets in the detention area. ‘I’ll ask him after the ceremony’, he thought to himself, but a loud noise was heard and they were gone, again.
He wanted to fight too. Their battle could be better if their side had a greater number. He jumped down the flight of stairs and ran to the side of the crowd after the three founders but they already took off, he turned around and saw that in this place the students outnumber their side of staffs and teachers. One of the teachers looked at him with grimace from a distance that said ‘don’t you dare leave me with these kids!’ from afar, Zone felt that beastly aura.
Zone sighed, ‘they are seasoned heroes’ he muddled on what to do. Then he saw a girl with a braided white hair wearing a horned-rim glasses, she's alone and seems lost. “Hey you!” he called out and briskly walked to her. “No civilians allowed in here! How did you-” he startled her.
Really now, he was just contemplating before about how he disliked superhero suits and now he assumed this girl’s a civilian? He noticed that she doesn’t seem like the other normal girls, this one was pale, pale hair, pale eyes and her presence does not stood out, even with that features.
Loud noise, and now someone was snooping around. He glowered once again, “Who are you?!”

"The actual speech part, or how they took off part."
". . .A little bit of both?"
Well, what were they suppose to do now? The Founders said they could just go around to explore a bit, right? But that didn't seem all that fun; some of the staff even seemed confused as to what to do now, and that only made her feel more unmotivated. Besides, Eirlys was going to be boarding here anyway--They had plenty of time to look for all the nooks and crannies.
She struggled a tad with her duffel bag and laid it on the wagon with the rest of the boxes. "Hey Corduroy, do you thi--" "Hey you!"That got her attention damn quick. Eirlys turned her darkened eyes towards a figure, presumably part of the staff, striding towards a young girl. He was loud and abrasive...and being accusatory, from the sounds of it. The white-haired girl, whom he was practically screaming at appeared timid, and her nerves seemed addled enough...
"I know what you're thinking. And I'm telling you right now, don't get involved."
She smirked a bit, though it was an annoyed sort of grin, "You know, I've never done well with authority figures."
"We just got here. We haven't even been here for half an hour yet! Eirlys, you are not..." But it was too late, the adolescent was already heading over. ". . .******** this. You're on your own." And his shadowy presence faded from her sight. "Who are you?!""Now isn't that the sort of thing you're suppose to know?" Eirlys interjected, "So much for a 'guiding, helpful, knowledgeable' staff, hmm? Or fair for that matter." She moved in front of Anemone protectively, jabbing a finger into Zone's chest; "Who do You think you are, picking on students!"

'Oh geez, a kid like me back in the days, ...except this one's a girl.' Zone's first thought when the girl who intervened spoke. If he were seven years younger, would he start a fight with a girl? 'Probably,' he told himself.
That sudden nudge irritated Zone, one of the things he hates, being touched, rashly. He would had twisted her arm by then if she was a different person, but this is a situation that he must learn to control himself.
The founders were gone moments ago, alarming sound and the school was teeming with fresh meat, who knows whether the girl hiding from that brazen spitfire's back was a spy, and that sound was just a diversion. And what if the--
'Students...of course' Nervousness tends to make Zone over think things, at least he's not acting in a frenzy, to be exact, not using his fist in this conversation. He was still vigilant in case these two starts to attack.
"Brats!" he calmed down a bit, "Fine!" he pointed back to the crowd, "go back in there, the announcements aren't done and I'll be watching you!"
'Back in the days, you still acted like a brat though...you should know better' he assumed while walking back to the group. He glimpse back at two,
'Hmm, probably? nah she's a girl, but I would've punched the teacher if it was me.' He wouldn't admit, he liked the attitude of the gutsy teen.
