Yofiel nosed around the little pride/town that she had found. It all looked so well organized and proper. She could not say she knew what proper was, but if it was anything like she imagined this must be it. Every lion seemed to know their place and have something they were doing or somewhere they were headed. There were even ones with "fancy" attitudes that seemed quite self important as they walked around.
She had yet to figure out what they were doing and she was not going to ask and point out she was an outsider. So far, everyone seemed too busy to really take notice of her. Every time someone seemed to give her a second glance she would move to another spot or walk off as if she had somewhere she had to be. That had worked pretty well so far and she was amazed at that. Just do not look lost and not many seemed concerned with you?
Yofiel was sure that had to be a temporary condition, but she was not going to complain if it kept working out. This allowed her to keep looking around and trying to figure out the structure that seemed to be under this whole thing. She had seen prides before, but each one seemed to have its own way of doing things. None had been quite as interesting as this one was so far. She had heard talk of colonies, and wondered very much what a colony was.

Etihad walked through the mainland calmly, eyes averted from meeting aristocrats, though they watched the male curiously. He wasn't an oddity, some new thing, but rather what J wanted from the mainland had the nobility anxious, barring a few whom knew he ws tied to the Governess in some form.
But Etihad knew others, taking thew time to study facves that came in, and when he spied a new one, his ears pricked, padding towards her.
"Your a new sight, miss."

Yofiel had been looking at something in another direction when the male had approached. She had noted him earlier but not even those she thought handsome or interesting had been bothered by her as she was still trying to keep to herself here. Because of this fact, the male speaking to her was not an expected thing, and a little amusing.
The lioness quirked a half smile. She had been "caught" so to speak. It had taken quite some time, but had to come eventually, right? She was amused by finally getting noticed and also by the fact that it was a rather handsome male that in some respects reminded her of her best friend Athena. All that wonderful fluffy fur made her wonder if the male might be as fluffy charming as Athena too.
"Am I a new sight? Perhaps I am just an old sight you had yet to notice. Or a misplaced sight.... or even a figment of your imagination." Yofiel's eyes twinkled as she spoke. She had no qualms about meeting any lion's eyes full on. She feared nothing. Her life had been less than pleasant in the past, and she figured if anyone had a problem with her gaze they could come make fools of themselves if they wanted.

Etihad blinked, his eyes older, tired, but he smiled kindly, letting her keep the gaze.
"I'm quite certain your new." He chuckled. "Very new indeed." He smiled a bit kindly. She reminded him of his mate, long ago.... And momentarily his heart ached.

Yofiel chuckled at how easily the male took her attempt at confusion in paw. This one had some experience. That could be a good thing for her or a bad thing depending on what she had stumbled upon here. She still was not quite sure with what she had been seeing. It looked interesting enough, at least. The lioness sat back on her haunches to watch the male.
He certainly did not look threatening, so that was a good thing. "Quite certain I am new, huh? Well, you are the first one to notice, and I have been here looking around for some time now." The big question was should Yofiel trust him with her name, or be paranoid about it? Eh, paranoid was overrated. She grinned and put a paw to her chest. "I am Yofiel. As you already know, I am not of this place, not really of any place."

"Call me Etihad." He bowed politely, and adjusted a bit.
"If an Aristocrat hasn't spotted you yet, that's good. They eould turn you into one of them, or send you to the colonies to live a life only slightly better than a slave's, and fill your yead with silver-tounged lies about it until you get there." He sighed.

Yofiel tilted her head to the side like a bird and blinked there was that word again. Colony. What was a colony? An aristocrat she was sure she had heard before somewhere, but colony, no. "Aristocrats... high ranking, snobby? That kind of aristocrat? I am sure they cannot all be bad... but what is a colony?" She really did have to get an answer on that or it was going to drive her nuts.
"And why would one be sent to it? I do not wish to seem dense, but it is not something I have heard before." Yofiel realized the head tilt and straightens herself back up. She really did need to quit doing that. She would end up looking like a bird if she kept it up. Of course, once her attention was diverted for a moment, rather than listening raptly for the answer to her questions, she decided to eye up the male in front of her again. Eye candy should always be appreciated.

Etihad smiled kindly at her questions.
"Ah yes, that kind of aristocrat." He chuckled. "And a colony is a small extension of a pride living in claimed territory away from the pain area. In our case we have five islands." He smiled again.

"Islands... why would anyone wish to surround themselves in water? I like a good swim every so often as well as the next feline, but I cannot imagine being surrounded by water all the time." Yofiel gave a little shudder at the thought. Of course, she had never been on an island before, but still the idea was disturbing to her. She was suddenly very glad she was a rouge. They could not send her to a colony if she was not part of the pride afterall.
She stood up and made a circle around the male to examine him again. "You do not seem a bad sort, rather handsome and fluffy... and friendly I have noticed. I did not actually intend to come into your pride lands at first, but I am quite curious about them now that I am here. Although I really do need to be keeping the important tasks in mind as well... how do you feel about cubs?" She had been trying to find a male to sire cubs for her before this. She needed to continue that search and hope she did not end up dead without having ever had cubs!

"Ah, many do mot mind as the colonies are rather loarge. Plenty of dens."
He chuckled. "Not so small, you don't have to always see water."
At her question, after her words, he suddenly slumped a bit, ears drooping as he looked down, closing his eyes.
"....Cubs... Are a blessing. I had... Cubs. But they and my mate were murdered."
The murderers... Shortly after fell to his claws, but the male still grieved.
"To have cubs again...."
More sadness.

Yofiel reached out her muzzle and licked the male's cheek at the sadness she had caused. Apparently cubs were a sore subject with him. At his comment about having cubs and lost, she could certainly understand his sadness. She had yet to have cubs of her own, but she would definitely not want to have them only to lose them again! That would be awful for any parent, let alone one that had be so unlucky as her to not have cubs for so long.
"Plenty of dens sounds like a good place, even if there is water to cross to get to these colonies of yours. I have never had one I would call a mate, nor cubs, I am sorry." Yofiel sat back on her haunches again and her ears drooped as well. "I do not know the extent of your loss, but I do know I would not wish to experience such. I wish you had not had to either." What could she really offer the male of comfort? She did not truly know the extent of what he had lost, so while she could empathize a little, it was not nearly enough.
"Cubs are a blessing that I am sure any female would be lucky to share with you, handsome. You seem like a wonderful and caring male, thus good father material." The lioness really hoped she had not just upset him more with her comment. It was meant to be comforting, not hurtful. Her black lined eyes closed halfway as she listened to the male further. "You said to avoid nobles, so what are you in the pride, if I may know?"

Etihad smiled sadly, nosing her to try cheering her up.
"A curse I never wish on anyone else." He smiled softly. "Especially a new moither and father."
He touched her paw.
"Thus my change of name once. As for what I am, I am the priest of my colony, and a descendant of one of our gods." He smiled gently.
"And the dens are warm and anyone is welcome to them. Feline, canine, even hyena. We welcome all breeds to the colonies."

Yofiel purred at the nosing and her ears perked back up. She had not offended him, that was definitely a good thing! The last thing she needed was to offend someone, especially a nice male, in a prideland. "Priest... gods... You mean those lions with the funny looking wings on their backs... THOSE gods? I have seen a few of them in passing. Some of them are nice, some of them should be avoided at all costs."
Yofiel could not see worshiping the gods really, but then she had never had a lot of contact with them. She had heard enough warnings to know that unless one knew which god they were approaching it was best to avoid them. There were a few of them that could be not only hurtful, but down-right deadly to get close to. It was not a risk she wished to take anytime soon, that was for certain. "I hope you are descended from a nice god." That she meant sincerely.
The lioness let his paw remain on her own black one. It was a nice sign when a male started touching like that. It meant they were interested. With this one, she thought perhaps it was less a bit of fun, and more a permanent arrangement he would wish. A mate was not something she expected to have the chance at. This could be a wonderful opportunity for her. Even if it required a pride, she would not regret such a chance. "I bet your den is only for special sorts though." She had to tease him a little.

"Wing Zero was good, I feel--winghs?" Ge looked perplexed. "Only three of them had those and their present ioncarnations do not.,"
He was confused. Lions didn't have wings normally! Silly girl... But a kind one and he nosed her lightly.
"Special, hardly. I am no better than anyone else. I merely walk the path best suited me." He smiled calmly.

"Yes, wings... I have seen much in travel. Including lions that are called gods, majority of which have wings and can fly. I thankfully have heard more of them that what I have seen." Yofiel shrugged. Maybe their gods were not the kinds of gods she had seen or heard so much about. Odder things had existed in this world than gods without wings that were reborn within a pride.
She grinned at being nosed and licked the nose in question when it pulled away. "You are sweet, especially for a 'holyman,' hard to get to take a compliment though, it seems." She grinned again and put a paw on his chest. "My comment meant, that I bet you are mate material, not someone that takes whatever female is the flavor of the moment."
That had come out a little blunt. Yofiel was sure that sounded better in her head. Maybe she should mull those comments over a little more next time. She did hope she was not going to ruin the very good start with that comment. Ick, she had never had so much trouble speaking to a male. All because this one did not really seem like the type that one could flirt with brazenly.
