Above a single, nondescript door in the side of a not-so-nondescript building hangs one of the most horrific signs among the games and rides of the floresctival. In bright pink flashing lights, a curling script spells out ‘Haunted House’, surrounded by blinking multi-colored bulbs that form crude flowers and hearts just to spice it up.

The building itself rises from the ground like a colossus strung in festival lights, completely in theme with the games and booths around it except for that single atrocious sign.

Just through the door is a large entrance room barely lit by dim bulbs glowing from foggy sconces, shadowing the entire area. The floor is covered with three inches of a swirling pink fog that trails down from the central winding staircase in the center of the tower and gives off a faint yet sweet smell of flowers. The pale walls are patterned in swirls of something that just barely reflects the dim light in the room – oh jack, is that glitter?

There are only two ways to leave the foreboding entrance room:
1. An archway to the left of the entrance that leads into a hallway. The hall takes a sharp right just past the archway and begins to dip down, leading students on a path that burrows into the ground beneath the main structure.
2. The swirling staircase in the center of the room that leads up to various floors of the tower above ground level.

Both have periodic landings or floors but appear to be nearly endless (or so long that no end is in sight) otherwise. They are both laden with traps and tricks designed to frighten even the most hardened of Halloween citizens. There are also various locked doors on every landing – what could those be for?

The haunted house will operate as an open roleplay where you can have your characters interact with the environment either solo or in groups. It is semi-GMed, meaning that random events will happen throughout the course of the roleplay but we are also allowing you guys to make up scenarios for your characters as long as they stay within certain boundaries.

Random Events
  • Will be posted by a ToTer character only
  • Can be a game to win festival-themed minipets or actions such as traps, tricks, or surprises designed to scare specific characters/groups.
  • Will happen depending on the amount of RP and will only affect characters/groups that have posted recently in the thread

Player Events
  • Can be created by anyone, but only for their own character or characters they are interacting with
  • May only be actions such as traps, tricks or surprises designed to scare specific characters/groups
  • May be posted at any time one or more characters are active (though please try to respect ToTers if they are holding a game in the thread)
  • Can only be small scale! This means things like ‘monsters’ popping out of nowhere for a limited time, new environmental factors (bubbles or the sounds of mewling kittens in the air), etc. Please do not try to rewrite the architecture of the building, have parts of it go missing/collapse, or anything else of the kind. If you have an idea for something that you think might push the limits, feel free to contact Felyn or The Professional Prophet.
  • Should keep with the theme! Scary things to Halloweeners are what we would consider adorable, sparkly, happy, etc.
  • These are just to keep the RP interesting without needing constant GM interaction, so please respect the freedom we’re giving you guys

Your character should pick the hallway or the staircase and stick to it, but neither have any more benefits or drawbacks than the other. They are just a way to keep multiple groups from bumping into each other and give all the characters a space to breath and play in. To keep the rp simple and easy to understand, please try to follow these guidelines!
  • Post (Staircase) or (Hallway) at the top of each of your posts so that other players know which path you have taken
  • In your posts, please bold the names of any characters you are interacting with
  • Try not to quote whole posts, as it makes the thread messy and hard to read

At any time, if you want your character to exit the haunted house for any reason, they may simply turn around and head back out the way they came. You do not have to RP this entirely, you may simply post and tag the end of it with (EXITING). Once they exit the building, if they wish to re-enter they must start at the beginning again. You don't have to leave just because you are going to be AFK and it is perfectly alright to post in this RP as well as any other threads or games at the same time. This is just an option we are providing in case you need it.

Otherwise, let the games begin!

Minnie was just strolling around, until she saw that 'haunted house' sign. From the inside, she hears strange noises that she never heard of. She stopped in front of the sign, read it, and looks at the building.

"Huh? Doesn't really look like one.... But... Maybe its fun!"

And so, Minnie opened the door, and she could see nothing but swirling pink fog on her feet. She could see what's in front of her, just not really well.

"Hmm... Not quite what i expected. But, maybe i should explore around here. Where should i go... I can't really see well..... And... Is it me, or is there a flower smell? Quite delightful, actually."

Minnie decided that she follow that fog. And the fog leads her to a swirling staircase.

"I might as well climb this. Who knows what might be up there!"

And so she did.

Marosa folded his wings behind him as he arrived, noticing, with a sigh of relief, that hardly any students were around. With that bit of good news, he didn't have to worry about any touching or accidentally bumping into people. He'd had enough of that at home.

This was his second excursion to the school, which he was still very intrigued with, and still wanted to attend. Of course, his father also wanted him to attend, which he didn't agree with, but it was what it was.

He glanced up and noticed two paths; one seemed to lead upwards, and the other down. He decided to go up, to where the possible open sky was, and simply enjoy the air. He wasn't really a ground creature, so the ground floor didn't interest him in the slightest.

As he walked towards the stairs, Marosa took a deep breath in of the swirling pink fog, smiling slightly at the sweet smell of flowers. He then noticed the glitter on the walls, raising an eyebrow in silent reply to the strange antics of the wall. What in Jack was it thinking, with that color of glitter on those walls? They didn't match at all.

Pressing his knuckle to his lips and shaking his head in a disturbed manner, Marosa walked forward, up the stairs.

THUD!

Minnie felt he bumped into someone. She quickly apologizes.

"Sorry! Hey, who are you anyway? Or at least, what are you?"

((OOC : Minnie can't see very well due to the light and the fog.))

Hallway

Artemis was immediately attracted to the Haunted House, seeing the disgusting pink sign with it's terrifying floral designs. If he could make it through this place, he'd have bragging rights forever. Steeling himself, he stepped through the threshold, met by scenes terribly horrifying.

The pink fog almost caused him to jump, and the floral scents were making him nauseated. Only a truly devilish mastermind could have come up with something as scary as this. Art had the sneaking suspicion it was a certain bunny...

Seeing the archway that led to the hall, Artemis went forth. trying to anticipate whatever could possibly pop out. Please Jack, no teddy bears...

Archway

One could suppose that whatever it was that would draw people in here, it would be morbid curiosity. Now, such a thought had occurred to the young Ghost as he danced his way towards the Haunted House on rather light, slightly more delicate feet. Said Ghost in question was none other than the resident Dream Catcher spirit student Kala Itar. The boy was honestly curious to see what horrors might have awaited within such a thing, because....well....Morbid curiosity, right? His deep brown/black hair was rather messy, fluttering about in his golden eyes like a veil to keep those wicked golden eyes hidden from the world. Tonight, there was no darkness swirling about him, more a pale blue mist, and it accentuated the white over-robe he wore quite well.

Making his way up to the main entrance, he looked it over, head canting to the side, full lips parting in a bit of a smirking grin. Fangs peeked over crimson lips, and he couldn't help the slightly maniacal giggle that escaped his mouth, "House of Haunting~. Fun-sounding." He'd yet to experience the joys of this school, and was fully intent on having his fun this evening. The spider-webbing of black veins on his face stood out in the slight glow of that dream-mist that surrounded him, as he made his way over towards the room. There was some sort of sweet smell coming from the odd staircase, and when glitter hit his eyes, he couldn't help the tiny squeal of glee. He couldn't help it....easily distracted and all.

Looking back between the archway and the staircase, he seemed to think, lips curving into a delicate frown as the dilemma hit him. Up or down? Follow the ghoul and boil who'd just gone up? Or make his own way down. Tapping bare toes against the floor, he listened to the satisfactory noise, letting it help his rather active brain ease into thought. The best idea, or so he thought, would to be to go down. Moving towards the arch, Kala took a deep breath as the arch took a sharp right, and he began to feel the incline,
"Much fun, yes. Will be~."

Hallway

Hearing the tapping of a foot, Art jumped with a bit of a squeak. Oh Jack, what was it? Animated teddy bears? Glitter blobs? PINK FAIRIES? Oh Jack, why why why why? Anticipating the worst, Art clenched his fists and bit his lower lip. If this visitor's pass didn't suppress his natural abilities, he would blind the offender with a good splashing of ink. Then he'd look the hero, wouldn't he? He jumped and spun around, assuming a fighting stance.

Oh.

It was just a ghost, a male ghost. He had a swirling mist around him, along with a white robe. He seemed... happy to be here. He couldn't let himself be upstaged, now could he? Sucking in some air (though he didn't need it) and puffing his chest out, Artemis swaggered up to the Ghost. extending a hand.

"Hey there, names Art. Care to join me in this excursion?"

Archway

Blinking in shock as he heard a squeak, Kala seemed honestly surprised as Art jumped into some sort of funny pose. Now the Dream Catcher Ghost had no idea just what the boy's issue was, and he shifted on the balls of his feet, pale lilac harem pants fluttering loosely against his figure as he waited for the male to do....well, SOMETHING. Seriously. Golden eyes gazed easily at the other, and when the other came close, with a hand offered, Kala once again became confused. Giggling, he took the other's hand, turning it over and over in his own long digits, black nails running over skin.

Oh.....He wasn't offering any nightmares. Sighing as he realized this when the introduction was given, he smiled sweetly at the other male. Art. So this demon's name was Art. An Art....Aaaaart. The word mulled around in his head, until he finally said, "Art.....AAAAaaart. I am a Kala."

Bobbing his head and letting go of the other's palm, he bounced a bit again, a trace of blue mist lingering on the boil's skin. "Join in.....Excuuuursion." Yet another new word. So strange on his tongue, the way it rolled, and he seemed to test it, moving his lips up and down, until he finally figured it out. OH! OHHHH! He wanted to go down together, "Yes! Excursion~. I am thinking go down, away from the sparklings."

(Hallway)

Prom was bad enough. The days after prom were bad also. Floresctival was quickly creeping up Merope’s list of loathing; people in two’s and groups were quickly skirted as he clenched his hands in his pockets. He was rapidly becoming less and less of a fan of school events. As an undead, he didn’t have many friends -- was it the fact he smelled like dead fish? Did he glow too much? Not enough exposed bone?

He stopped and shook his head, fins flattening against his body in irritation. Or maybe it’s because you’re too paranoid about yourself, he thought, swishing his tail. Shut the candlestick up and just... Just forget about it.

Merope slowed his steps, looking up as the bright flashing pink lights caught his attention. A shudder shook his fins loose. This was what he needed! A chance to forget everything and just be filled with so many warm fuzzy feelings he could puke puppies.

It didn’t take long for him to enter the house and be faced with the first dilemma of the house: which way? He tilted his chin up, squinting as if he could look through the ceiling. It was impossible for him to tell.

The undead leviathan shrugged his shoulders and turned, heading through the left archway. And then he took a right and stared at the hallway. Great. Great. There was nothing to do but walk, just like Christmas.

But unlike Christmas, Merope wasn’t assaulted by merrily singing trees, elves, and giant metal poles that looked like delicious candy canes. The enemy here was worse. Much worse. On one wall, surrounded by a glittery frame was a picture that Merope couldn’t look away from. It was... It was... It was far too cute for his own good. Merope wanted to hug it and squeeze it and keep it forever and ever and ever.

There were few things in this world that Riley was legitimately scared of. While a close call, this Haunted House was not one of them - but it was making the bile in her stomach rise up threateningly. What a better way to start off her trip to this festival, than by a foul attempt to frighten herself sick by being surrounded with.. pink?

She knew she could take it - but as soon as she watched Merope walk into the Haunted House alone, she felt the faintest twinge of worry pass over her. It left just as quickly - but she decided her choice in direction would be made by, subtly, following the leviathan.

Just a coincidence, of course.

When he stopped in front of a painting, she flickered her eyes up to look at it - and quickly look away. She didn't want to have daydreams about that later.

Distant relative? She had to ask.

The Floresctival. Edel was at a loss for words.
She gazed at the spectacle before her, her eyes taking in the beautiful scene of the hundreds of lanterns that decorated the festival grounds. Brimming with excitement, she treaded the grounds perhaps a little too quickly, looking rather comical in the process.

I wonder if there is time for everything... . She regretted being unable to visit all the booths at the Open house before she left the school. Edel had taken care to arrive extra early for the festival. THIS TIME FOR SURE.

Of all the marvelous things that festival had to offer, there was just that one thing that stood out for her. It was Jarring. Standing above the ground and towering over the grounds was a building adorned with sickeningly pink lights and flowers and ...sparkles. Edel stood at the entrance, glancing at the structure as a wave of ....whut? washed over her.

A Haunted House apparently, Edel was clearly unimpressed. Still, it piqued her interest. She carefully made her way into the building, the barrage of pink and glitter assaulting her from all sides. Couldn't be too bad... though she flinched at the sight of one of the ghastly looking portraits hanging from the wall

As she made her way down the hallway, Edel spotted a figure of a lady (were those tentacles for hair?) and a rather familiar looking undead leviathan ahead.

The festival, although it did not entirely make sense to the lemur, was beautiful and a wonderful outlet considering what the ghoul had been going through, as of late. Her ears were poised on the sides of her head, fully exposed as growing blue strands of hair were tied up into a messy (yet, oddly neat?) bun. Her attire was simple, tight jeans, a low riding shirt, sneakers...she was not feeling up to dressing the part of Amityville whore today...at least not entirely.

The sights and sounds, and even the smells were alluring in their own rights as the lemur strolled along the paths leading to one booth or the other--stopping abruptly when her eyes met with the pink silhouette in the distance. What was that? Was it SUPPOSE to be on the grounds? White skin wrinkled on her nose as the ghoul jerked back some with her torso...but found that her feet had another idea, taking her across the grass and toward the home...building? Thing.

Instead of standing outside to ponder the surrounding, obnoxious colorations chosen for this particular establishment, the ghoul followed several kids inside--finding herself tailing the one student who had only just entered the hallway.

The image that had caught the fellow visitor's eyes stalled the monster momentarily, her gaze settling heavily on the man and the sparkles that were depicted in the portrait. Sparkling? Really? Could boils do that?! For a moment Natalia stood and merely gawked; certainly aroused by the bareness of the model's chest, only somewhat put off by the glitter effect...before she forced herself to move forward, coming upon the group of individuals who had stopped to give another portrait a quick once over.

Riley was there, a name Natalia would not soon forget as it seemed to be said at nearly every turn on campus these days. Those purple tentacles on her head could also not be mistaken for anyone but the ghoul...however, the others were not so familiar to the monster, but were waved at all the same. "Evening lovelies!" She thrummed, licking at her lips before tilting her head at the turtle in the picture.

It was...cute...*3*

Ulmuka hadn't yet seen any of the friends he'd made at the open house. Of course he'd sent a mass email at the last second that he would be attending the festival. Maybe they hadn't gotten it?

He, of course, was dressed to the nines in cream and gold but for the occasion he'd worn a stylish fish-bone lapel pin to keep with the mood. He'd been trusted enough to come alone this time (helpful words from his brother had made up his father's mind). The strix was practically ruffled with excitement over the whole thing.

He approached the 'Haunted House' thinking that it sounded positively riveting. He happened to have a soft spot for ghosts and hoped there would be plenty of ghost themed things inside to peak his interest. There were many young people filtering inside and he used his height to look ahead and pick his direction.

Though they didn't know him he spotted the tentacled, purple ghoul from the Fitness Booth at the open house. There was also an intriguing ghoul with a delicious looking tail. They seemed to be current students so as a prospective one, he followed them. They grouped together with an undead looking boil who he did not recognize.

He seemed to miss the strange pictures on the walls, instead following the individual smells of the students ahead of him. He didn't yet introduce himself to them but instead hovered a few steps behind them, his jagged grin plastered across his face.

It wasn't that he was unsociable or anything. It definitely wasn't that he was afraid...but all the same, he'd take the other path to the large group of people. (If he screamed, he definitely didn't want witnesses.) I mean, the outside was creepy sure - but it was over-the-top creepy, the kind of sparkly pink horror that was amusing in how over-the-top it was...but that didn't mean the inside would be similarly ridiculous - and there might be.....there might be cute fluffy puppies -or, or GOLDFISH. Acheron stifled a shudder at the thought, and stepped determinedly into the house. He was freaking himself out now - there was absolutely no need to do that before the house did.

The water demon tugged on his collar as he entered, walking up the stairs.
