CATCH OF THE DAY

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Though the door to this strange excuse of a deserted booth is closed, a sign on the very front clearly states SCAREFARI: COME SHOW OFF YOUR CATCH OF THE DAY AND TELL US HOW YOU CAUGHT IT. A notebook is left lying on the table, perhaps something needs to be written in it?

RULES:

- Post the BBCODE of any minipet you catch from the scarefari!
- You can only post ONCE per day MAX. If you are the first person to catch that minipet in the scarefari (even if its an already existing minipet, such as a ghost dog, but is still found IN the scarefari), you will get a Floresctival Seed for your effort
- That means for CUMULATIVE UNIQUE minipet caught and posted, each user can get a FLORESCTIVAL SEED!
- EXAMPLE: User A catches a ghost dog, User B catches a demon cat from the scarefari. User C catches a ghost dog too and posts. User C will not get a prize, but user A and B will
- YOU MUST ROLEPLAY YOUR CATCH OUT, simply leave a photo of your minipet behind, or bring in the actual pet, and a small story of how you possibly trapped it, creativity = a bonus and might attract OTHER unique prizes!

There had been a bit of confusion surrounding the tumble weed not held gingerly in Hadiyya's hands. Was it a pet? She wasn't sure. It had come from the Scarefari, from a trap she had set, and didn't fit the surroundings. She was guessing it had just sort of.. rolled in. Easiest catch ever if it was indeed a catch.

Figuring it was better safe then sorry, she decided to bring it in to be checked.

The quiet reaper padded across the floor over to the book that was mostly unfilled. He narrowed his eyes slightly as he held a small photograph in hand. He had been surprised when he had caught the small mini earlier but no matter. Kazuka laid the photograph onto the book then wrote a small entry in the book.

~I had set up the trap out of curiosity of the odds that the simple trap had of actually catching anything. It was a simple trap of some rope, a small try of food and a well used area of minis. The goat had wondered in as if in a trance before it's leg got ensnared in the rope.~

After he brief recap he then simply left to return back to the Scarefari and back to his training.

Riley didn't know what, exactly, had gotten caught in her scarefari trap. She felt a little bad for it, being that it didn't seem to be fighting very hard, but.. if she had more of an understanding as to what it was, she probably would feel a little more sympathy.

As it was, she held the thing by two fingers, and dropped it down to get checked. The notebook laid out to be written on, and as she scribbled with an elegant flourish, the - what WAS it, really now! - kind of rolled against the page lopsidedly.

It was clear this was a rather easy catch.

Artemis was genuinely confused at how this had turned out. He thought traps were supposed to catch pets, but he caught an acorn? How weird...

Figuring he should at least report it, the Tattoo Demon wrote his find down on the notebook, before rummaging the acorn out of his pocket and setting it next to his signature. It seemed to pulse a little as Art walked away. Very strange indeed...

After laying the trap, Carmine had come back to find this under it. He wasn't entirely sure how it got there, since it had no legs or other ways of moving, so he snatched it up, reset the trap and carried about playing with it as though it were some sort of toy airplane.

Kallos had set out a little, bush like trap a while back, not expecting anything to be in it when he returned. The very fact that Kallos had been brave enough to go out into the scary, scary woods was an achievement itself, after all. Much to his surprise, there had been a...bottle? A RIP memorial of sorts for some kind of canine, it seemed. (Oddly fitting that a ghost like Kallos should find a ghostly minipet.)

In any case, Kallos gingerly carried it over to the deserted Scarefari booth, immediately noticing the notebook. Fishing a pen out of his pocket, the ghost quickly wrote down where he'd found the creature, what trap, and all of the information he deemed necessary. It looked a little like this, actually: "Wild Ghost Canine (Perhaps of a specific breed?), found as a memorial with a bone and a ball next to it, trapped(?) in the dark Forest area, using the Bush-like trap, which is activated via a string-pull system. It looks to be a common sort of creature." And then he sketched an image of the memorial in the space next to his entry. There, perfect.

Feeling rather fulfilled, Kallos pocketed his pen again and carefully carried off his captured minipet.

When I returned to my trap I was not expecting to find much of anything. Outside of a lump of coal that had mysteriously appeared in one of my traps, everything else seemed to avoid it like the plague. Leaving behind their tracks in the earth to taunt me. Guess I just don't have that hunting prowess in me, huh?

So when I found a mushroom, at least that is what I think it is, in my trap, I decided to take what I could get. If worse came to worse, it can join the lump of coal on the shelf.

Decided that was enough sharing, Ishie put down the pen and dug a snap shot out of his pocket. He left it atop the notebook and turned to walk away. Maybe someone else would get a kick out his story.

How long had it been; minutes, hours, months, YEARS? No, definantly not months and years. He may have been out of it from all his waiting, but he wasn't THAT out of it. Hours, yes, hours seem reasonable, for now anyway. But how many hours? Too many to count, but he wasn't about to give up yet, oh no. He was going to catch a minipet no matter how long it took him.

Trap, after trap, after trap, they all failed him and wasted his time. He watched in annoyance as some didn't work properly, others broke, and then the most annoying of all was when the creatures would just dance around his traps or walk over them. Oh, how he just wanted to dart off after them and ring their necks. And he did try, once, but ended up being attacked, so he stopped.

With a huff the hippogryph watched as a faint shadow approached his trap of nothing more than some foliage and a vine. Though the trap had failed many times before he was hoping this one would be different. When he heard the trap go off he quickly made his way over only to see... Was that an egg? No, some kind of plant? A rock with legs? No, what? He couldn't tell. Either way he was just happy to have it, whatever it was...

Trapping was an art that required lots of patience. But this was getting ridiculous. How long had she camped out in this dark forest, setting and disassembling traps over and over?

Too Long.

She was a hairs breath away from giving up and going back to the fields when she spotted it calmly munching on the sugar cube in her trap. With a wild cry Mandy charged forward pouncing and wrestling the minipet in an epic show of strength before she managed to subdue the mighty gist beneat-

Oh. It was just a snail.

......how disappointing.

Maybe Barth would want another one for his tank.

It was becoming apparent to Sheridan that he had a lot to learn about trapping. Either that or there was simply nothing out there to trap, he was more inclined to believe the former.

He had checked his traps several times throughout the day, with only a couple pieces of coal to show for his efforts (how did a lump of coal get into a trap anyways?). Tired and frustrated, he had left his trap while he wandered off to do something else for a few hours.

When he returned to check his trap, he was fully expecting it to be empty and/or its components scattered across the ground. He was however surprised to find that neither was true. There was something in his trap.

Lifting the glowing skull (hey, if coal could get in his trap, why not a skull too?), Sheridan carried his catch to the booth, setting it on one of the tables as he filled out a form and attached a picture.

The scarefari was a strange strange place...

He'd been here hours. And while stalking things was fun, staring at a hole dug in the ground and covered with a leafy net was becoming high on his list of the most boring things he'd done. Tyr had had a moment of excitment when something had come near, only to be spooked off at the last moment. His tail switched in annoyance as he'd had to reset the trap again.
Hours went by again and he'd dozed off somehow despite the damp mist clinging to his skin and likely getting his clothes mouldy by now. A crash sounded and he sprang to his feet, teeth bared at...nothing. Sighing, he growled and glanced at his trap. He'd thought that something had....Hey! It had caught something. Eagerly, he trotted over and peered over the edge of the hole at a...

Snail? Ugh. That wasn't a catch! The thing probly fell in as it oozed over the top. He reached in with a clawed hand and picked it up, eyeing it curiously. Well, at least it had a cool glowing blue shell. He liked blue. Ears perked and tail twitching happily at that thought, he reset another trap and trotted off to the Scarefari booth to record what he'd caught.

It had only taken her five tries since she began setting traps to finally catch something. It helped that she was slowly getting better at her trap making. Well, at least she had gone from laying sticks on the ground to setting up a box propped up with a stick.

Perhaps one of the more obvious traps she ever set up, but the moment this little critter crawled under the box (perhaps for some shade?) she knew she just had to have it. So with a quick tug, the trap was sprung and caught this cute creature.

Mia hurried over as fast as her short legs could carry her and peered under the box. If she had been a normal little girl she would have a squealed for joy because it was a dragon! Well, okay it was a pygmy dragon, but it was still a dragon!

Picking it up, she hugged it happily before taking it home to show her parents what she brought home this time.

For anyone who might have been standing near the signing book, the sound of grunts and angry, high-pitched whinnies could be heard even from a great distance, despite how the air was still around the book itself. Peering around in the dark would provide no insight to the sound -- the dense foliage of the scarefari caused the sound to echo off the bark of the surrounding trees, amplifying and warping it. It could have come from anywhere, and the gentle, whistling breeze helped none to identify the location of the sound, rustling the underbrush and whispering teasingly through your hair, making it stand on end. Not that the sound was particularly... terrifying, or anything. It was actually kind of one of those obnoxious things that made you want to make faces, like nails on a chalkboard, or that jerk in your class who won't stop talking about his so-called 'achievements' or your friend talking about how their boilfriend is sooooooo cute. Something you wanted to seriously shut up, but were powerless to do so.

Staring around in the darkness would do nothing, and it was only after that particular student had gotten so fed up with the noise that they were going to cut their own story short that there was a crash of random branches, and a certain skinwalker stumbled up to the book, holding what looked to be a... shooting star or something. There might have been the slightest raising of eyebrows too -- the boil didn't seem to be just holding it either, it looked like it was bridled, albeit poorly and... ridiculously. That look would earn the student a look of their own, molten amber eyes turning from the struggle with the minipet to the onlooker, one eyebrow quirked as if saying 'yeah, what're you lookin' at, punk?'

Except that momentary glance seemed to alert the 'star thing' that it was a perfect opportunity to get away. The next few minutes would dissolve quickly into grunts and frustrated neighing as the monster literally leaped onto his captive, wrestling with it for a good few seconds before he got up, dragging the creature towards the notebook.

That's about the time the student decided the skinwalker could go first.

WINNING
By Nukpana

It was dark. I was creepin' around in the field-place, crouched low to the ground. I crept forward, looking around for my pray. There wasn't anything around, but I knew something was out there, so I hid in a bush. Just then, this star thing appeared, so I jumped on it! It tried to buck me off, but I held on, and I tied the rope around it, but it didn't give up so I just held on! I said 'You're not getting away from me!' and I finally wrestled it to the ground and dragged it here.

The end.

I didn't even know this was in my trap for a few seconds. I was using the box with the string and it just kind of wandered in. It started dissolving rocks in the woods?! I'm not sure I want this thing, is there a pound nearby?
