Continuation from Brother Issues
Sudi:
It was too late by the time Sudi looked over his shoulder again. Miu was out of sight and there was no tracking her. He rolled his eyes heavenward with a little growl before closing the distance between himself and his soon-to-be mate.
"Did you distract me on purpose?" he asked, a bit of humor in his voice as he nuzzled her cheek. Oh, he bet she did, at least in some part. It was really annoying, but he could live with it. Oseye could take his mind off of worrying for his sister.
He sighed a bit.
"I missed you."
Oseye:
She giggled, nuzzling into him and purring, her entire body seeming to pulse from the purr. She was never happier than when she was with him. She had been thinking of cubs even, and it scared her, but it was an exciting thought! After marriage, cubs always were next, right?
"Oh no, I was just trying to see my adoring mate to be, and see if he was thinking of me." She teased, and licked his cheek.
"I missed you too.." She said, smiling softly.
Sudi:
Sudi chuckled in response.
"Liar." But he was smiling as he said it, nuzzling and licking the side of her face and head, content as he groomed her just a bit. It was so strange, how when he was with her everything else just faded into the background. As if in the whole world it was just the two of them.
"You've been thinking, I can tell," he said after a moment. It was in the way she looked, how she carried herself. And she was cool for all her dark fur, she'd been inside her favorite part of the temple. He moved to grooming her ear and around it.
"What about?"
Oseye:
She snuggled into him, nipping his neck only just enough to tickle. She'd never hurt him. She'd sooner die. With a soft look in her eyes she grinned.
"Oh I dont lie, and you know it. Not to you, ever, anyway." She knew he was teasing, but still she said it. Thats when he asked her what she was thinking about. She gulped, and smiled awkwardly. It was clear it wasnt something she was too confident about. Maybe he'd say they were moving too fast.. But she didnt believe that.. Thats not what she felt in her heart.
"I dont know, I guess I was just thinking. I.. I thought of us, and our plans for the future.. and I wondered things is all. It was nothing." She assured
Sudi:
He just smiled at the nipping, giving her ear a little n** back as he sat at her side and continued the affectionate gesture.
"You're always thinking about the future, sweet. Can't we think about the now for just a bit?" The question was followed by another small laugh, his own teasing still in his voice. He didn't mind, really, that she was always thinking ahead, wondering about the future. He was such a now individual that it was nice having someone thinking ahead. The only thing that might have bothered him was that sometimes she rushed things.
But he could certainly live with that.
Oseye:
She inwardly let herself pull the idea back. She knew she had reacted too quickly. Why couldnt she just live in the now? What was so wrong with that? She sighed, snuggling into him closer.
"I suppose I just cant help it. I get so excited thinking of what its going to be like.. and I cant help but think of the future when it comes to us." She said, her voice soft, light, almost a tender tone.
Sudi:
Sudi tucked her head under his chin and closed his eyes, doing his own picturing of the future in his mind.
"I think... The future is coming soon enough. Let's just take it step by step," he replied after a moment. Oh, yes, he looked forward to them having their own den, to cubs that looked like her, to days too hot to leave their cuddling in the shade and stormy nights, to grandcubs and growing old together. But most of all he looked forward to all those days, and the days in between.
"Did you tell your mother the good news?"
Oseye:
She nodded, burying her head into his chest and trying to squeeze her eyes tight to let go of the thoughts. Pulling away, she smiled softly, and nodded.
"Yes youre right. Youre always the logical one." She said lovingly. She knew she could deal with that, even if that was the one flaw he seemed to have.
"I did, shes very happy. SHe wants to meet you now you know." She teased, poking him gently in the shoulder.
Sudi:
Sudi almost wished she hadn't said that. Yeah, he was sensible, but he didn't want to always be the logical one. He could be illogical, he was certain of it. He just didn't want to rush things too much. His life could pass him by if he was always looking ahead.
And he wanted to savor every moment with Oseye.
His ears flicked back when she said her mother wanted to meet him.
"Oh, now that's a scary thought. I hope she won't change her mind about being happy over us," he replied, mock-fear on his face that was quickly replaced by his playful smile.
Oseye:
She smiled, shaking her head, licking his cheek, and then sighing.
"I think she will like you. She has to. You compliment me so well." She said, her voice obviously joking, and she winked.
Her tail tickled the leg and she tried to still the rush of the pounding in her throat.
"She has to love you. Cause I do."
Sudi:
Despite her reassurances, Sudi still had his hidden doubts. He really, deeply loved Oseye and until he actually met her parents, he would worry that they wouldn't approve of him. And while he doubted anything could keep him from his heart, he did want their blessing.
But he smiled and nuzzled and licked her again, glad for her words.
"I love you too, Osy. Even when you play with the make-up I make or ruin my flowers," he replied, flashing her a besotted smile.
Oseye:
Oseye could be fair, she knew that her parents could be rather critical of the mates of their babies. They had been angry to not even know Kaume, but they had welcomed Anippes babies just the same. This was different.. She would bring Sudi to them, so they could see just how respectable he is. She just knew that if they saw what she saw, it would be only a matter of time.
"Speaking of.." She said, nudging him up and walking forward. She was walking to the little patch ogf grass, one of almost none. She smiled at him, looking down at a s mall purple flower that was obviously recently plopped into that section of the earth.
"I planted you something.."
Sudi:
Sudi raised an eyebrow curiously, standing and walking with her as she led him away from where they had been more or less cuddling in the sun. She led him to a patch of grass with a small flower in the center, one that reminded him of their cubhood.
He smiled and shook his head before giving her a nuzzle.
"You're adorable, do you know that?" he asked, showing her his smile of amusement. He bent down to smell the flower and debated using it to make a perfume out of it to give to her. But he would need more than just the one flower to do so.
And her scent was so much more wonderful than the flower. He nuzzled her again.
"You smell better, though."
Oseye:
She smiled, and it was a warm, happy smile. She had made him happy, that was what she had wanted.
"Im glad. I was scared you'd think it was oto cheesy." She grinned, nuzzling into him and giggling.
"Did I smell badly before?" She teased. A few beats later she finished, "Thank you, Sudi."
Sudi:
"You smell better than the flower, sweet," Sudi replied with a small laugh and a shake of his head. But he knew she was only teasing him, so he just snuggled closer, happy to have her with him, even if she was silly sometimes.
"I love you, Osy. Even when you're teasing me."
Oseye:
"And I love you far more than that, so I think its safe to say we are at a standstill." She purred. She headbutted his shoulder gently, smiling with a litlte prance in her step.
"Cmon Sudi! Mother is waiting and I know she is just dying to meet you." She smiled, prancing a few steps ahead to look backt o see if he followed, and the continued going.
Sudi:
Sudi just smiled and took off after her, equal parts excited and nervous. He did want to meet her mother, but what would he say to her? He had to be polite, that was certain, but how polite? Should he bow or just dip his head and smile? Should he tell her how grateful he was to have Oseye in his life, or would that be too much?
Once he got to Oseye's side and fell into step with her, he knew what he had to do. He just had to be himself, because that was what her daughter loved.
