Xiu hummed to herself as she head back towards the demon dorms after a day out. A bag containing her day's goods swung from one hand, while her other hand grasped a piece of paper. "Mmm, well, I don't think I forgot anything," she mused, furrowing her brows as she scanned her grocery list, "Got that, got that, I should have more of that in the fridge, and--eep!"
Considering that the Baku wasn't the most graceful person on her feet, it shouldn't have come of any surprise that, combined with her lack of attention, Xiu ended up stumbling over...something. She wasn't sure what it was that her foot had caught itself on, but the next thing she knew, she was sent staggering forward. Fortunately, she managed to right herself before she actually tipped over and smacked the hard concrete, but her groceries were not so fortunate. Her bag had slipped from her hand, spilling all it's contents all over the ground.
Xiu stood there staring blankly for a second before emitting a forlorn sigh, her tail drooping sadly as she stooped down to gather everything up. The only silver-lining in this situation was that none of the packages she bought had torn open from the impact.
"I'm so clumsy!" She pouted at herself, dumping small packages and bottles back into her big bag, one at a time.

Mitsu had been heading back to her dorm from the reaper dorms having just got done with a study session with Shun. Her backpack was held close to her back as she trotted away, her masked expression rather focused on the monster dorms up ahead. At least it had been until she heard an 'eep' followed by the sound of tumbling items.
Ears perking trying to figure out where the noise has come from Mitsu turned this way and that until her eyes finally settled on Xiu in the distance. It...looked like she had dropped something...a whole lot of something.
Picking up her pace Mitsu headed toward the baku, determined to help if needed. "Ah, Xui!" Mitsu had actually managed a fairly high volume....at least for her. "Are you okay?" She finally asked as she came to a stop by Xiu stooping down to help pick the items on the ground....what was all this?

She instinctively looked up upon hearing her name, and quickly scanned her surroundings. The look of confusion was replaced with a friendly grin when she recognized the ghoul who was approaching her. "Mitsu! Hello!" Forgetting that she was currently holding something, Xiu raised a hand and waved to the lupine with a box of food coloring.
"Thank you for your help," She gratefully took the items that Mitsu picked up, laughing with embarrassment, "I hope you didn't see me trip just now." After a glance in her bag determined that everything had been safety returned, the Baku sighed with relief. Good! Now she didn't have to go back out to buy any of these ingredients again.
Noting the look that Mitsu directed at the items, Xiu grinned and stood back up, holding her bag to her chest. "I'm making spookies!" She explained, her tail waving back and forth, "I found a new recipe, and I have a bit of a sweet tooth, so..." She trailed off, tilting her head thoughtfully. Was Mitsu busy tonight, she wondered? If not, perhaps she could invite her over! They could make a few batches together to give to others!

Mitsu's masked gaze had followed the food coloring for a moment before she continued to help pick up the remaining items strewn about. Thankfully it seemed like everything was okay. Nothing was busted open at least.
"O..oh you're welcome." Though Mitsu quickly shook her head at the baku's second question. "N-no I didn't see you trip..." She had heard it but would it be right to say so? The lupine thought that over for a moment but decided to keep that information to herself. It wasn't like it was very important anyway.
"Oh, you're making spookies?" Now she sounded interested. Mitsu liked sweets as well. "I didn't know you could bake." Though she didn't know Xiu very well yet. "I like to....try to bake....I'm not very good at it." Like she thought herself not very good at most things but in this instance she was very correct...she was not good at baking. In fact, she was horrible at it.

"I love to bake," She admitted, the expression on her face suddenly becoming a little shyer when she blushed, "I volunteered to help with the food for prom too. It was mostly Junko--she's really amazing!--but I did help cook some of the dishes." It looked like the food at all been a hit too, especially the sausages.
Xiu wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing. But that didn't matter: she was making spookies today, not sausages.
Learning that Mitsu was interested in baking enforced her decision to ask the ghoul over. "I was going to start right when I got back to my dorm." She hefted the bag up and balanced it on her hip, freeing up the use of one of her arms. "If you'd like, and if you have nothing else to do, do you want to make them with me?" Xiu grinned, holding her hand out to the other ghoul, "I could teach you if you'd like. Spookies are very easy to make, so it's hard to get it wrong!"

Mitsu was smiling but it really couldn't be seen passed the mask. "The food at Prom was really good." Mitsu commented remembering all the tasty treats.
Her ears perked at the very top of her head at Xiu's next comment and following offer. It left Mitsu a little dumbfounded for a moment having not expected anything like this. "I..I'm free. I..I would love to come make spookies.....are you sure you want me to come though?" She wasn't the...safest to be around. Clumsy was a constant state of being for the lupine.

The compliment earned a beam and a little swish of her tail. "I'm glad!" She chirped, a soft laugh escaping her lips, "I'll have to pass the message on to Junko and Vaith too!"
Smiling, Xiu linked her free arm to one of Mitsu's, her eyes shining with amusement. "Of course I'm sure, silly! Why wouldn't I want you to come over?" Since she was given the affirmative, the Baku gave her a gentle tug towards the demon dorms. "I think it would be fun to bake together, don't you?" Besides, she really wanted to get to know the shy ghoul better, especially ever since prom. It would be good for Xiu to socialize, and she liked the idea of helping a friend learn how to bake.
She led Mitsu though the dorm's hallways before coming to an abrupt stop in front of her room. She let go of the other ghoul's arm so that she could unlock her door.
"Come on in!" She smiled, pushing open the door to her room. Directly next to the door--to the left--was a small, partitioned room that served as a tiny kitchen, and Xiu hurried into this room so that she could set the bag down on the counter top. Phew, it had actually been pretty heavy to tote around!

Mitsu gave a nod. "Y..yes I think it would be fun." She agreed. As Xiu linked her arm with hers it didn't take much tugging to persuade Mitsu to follow. Like a little velociduckling Mitsu was following the baku back to the demon dorms.
Other than visiting Lizzy Mitsu really hadn't been to the demon dorms much but it was always a curious sight. It was so much different compared to the monster dorms that were wide, spacious and.....colorful. And not always in the best of means. The lupine did her best to keep track of 'land marks' so that she could find her way back out again, though she was fairly certain she would still get lost. It had taken her quite some time to find Lizzy's room the first time.
Patiently waiting for Xiu to open the door Mitsu first peeked in as the baku told her to come in. "O...oh wow...Y...your room is really pretty." It had a very elegant feel to it and the rich color that covered the walls was rather nice. Mitsu's room was still mostly empty and...untouched as far as decorating went.

"Thank you," Xiu poked her out of the kitchen, grinning sheepishly, "I spent a lot of time redecorating when I got here so that it would be a little more...homey. Want anything to eat or drink before we get started?" A little digging through her fridge and shelves revealed that she had plenty of tea leaves and random little snacks sitting around, some of which she did not remember buying. She really was a scatter-brained Baku sometimes, but at least nothing seemed to be expired.
"So you've never baked before?" She asked, sorting out all the equipment and ingredients that they would need, "Because I would say that for me, the first rule of baking is to figure out who you're baking for. Yourself? Someone else?" In the latter case, it usually prompted Xiu to be a little more careful with the overall process--especially decorating--while she didn't care as much when baking for herself. As long as it tasted fine, she wasn't going to judge her own creation too harshly.
With everything out and organized, she turned to grin at Mitsu. "So? Anyone in mind?"

"I...I guess something to drink." Mitsu said sheepishly, though that would mean she would have to remove her mask. The thought made her nervous she had really only bared her face to Shun and Lizzy so far. With a light sigh nervous fingers took hold of the wooden mask and slowly drew it away from her face. Large shy crimson eyes looked to the floor as Mitsu set the mask aside trying to be casual about it....she was failing.
"I..I have baked once before..." It hadn't turned out well and the tone of her voice said as much. Hopefully with someone to help watch over what she was doing it wouldn't turn out as badly. "I...I guess I could make something for Shun." That thought perked her up a little though she couldn't say why.

"I'll make you my favourite," Xiu promised, immediately getting out her finest tea, "I promise you that you'll like it!" She paused for a beat when she turned to see Mitsu removing her mask, revealing her face to the Baku for the first time. However, acknowledging that staring or acting too surprised would likely make the other ghoul uncomfortable, Xiu simply smiled and returned to the task at hand. She felt it necessary to say something though, lest Mitsu get the wrong idea about her silence, so she settled for a cheerful, "Your eyes are such a pretty color, Mitsu!"
As the water was boiling, she glanced back at the other ghoul and tilted her head curiously. "Have you? How did that go?" So long as one was very careful with the measurements and with following the instructions, Xiu found that baking wasn't too hard. That being said, this was after a lot of practice and many, many failures, including one in particular.
...She didn't want to talk about it.
Xiu poured the water in with the tea leaves and let it sit for a bit, smiling at who Mitsu chose to bake for. "Shun, hm?" He was that really quiet boil who had taken Mitsu to the prom, right? Could there be something there beyond friendship? ...Or maybe that was just her inner, hopeful romantic talking. "That sounds like a good choice. Well then, I'll show you how you make Shun some perfect cookies."
The brewed tea as poured into the two cups, and she held one of them out to her friend. "But before we get started, here's your drink."

A soft smile nervous smile crossed Mitsu's face when the baku complimented her eyes. "T..thank you." She managed after a pause. "I..I look toward to the tea." It was tea right?
As far as how her last baking experience went....Mitsu was suddenly quiet as she fidgeted with her skirt. The look really said it all now that her face was visible, it hadn't gone well. "M..my brother was trying to help me. I...I added to much of something and the dough expanded....a bit much." Really it had exploded making quite the mess. What she had added to make it do that she would never know but she had continued to try to work with that she had. "...there was a really big mess....I ended up dropping everyone on the floor......then there was a fire." She added hesitantly. What a way to cap off the short story. Always with fire.
Her brother wasn't a very good cooking coach though because well, he couldn't see. So hopefully with Xiu's watchful eye nothing could go horribly wrong. She could hope anyway. Mitsu really liked the idea of making cookies for Shun but she wanted them to turn out well.
Hands reaching out for the tea Mitsu smiled sheepishly, "T..thank you." She gave the liquid a few short blows to cool it before taking a sip. Her eyes seemed to light up a little at the first taste. "I..It is good."

A very subtle brush of pink tinted her cheeks, but the obvious wag of her tail revealed that she was pleased by the compliment. "I'm glad you like it!" She beamed, taking a sip of her own tea. This really was her favourite drink, so she always took care to do everything perfectly, right down to the brewing time. It was one of the more subtly sweet drinks that she made--not overpoweringly sweet, but not bitter either.
"As for your last baking experience..." She put her cup down and reached out to pat Mitsu reassuringly, "I wouldn't fret about it too much. I didn't always always enjoy baking. Actually, there was this one time in particular that scared me out of my wits." Oh, was she actually going to talk about that failure?
Not quite. "Let's just say that it, ah, ended badly. Fire was also involved." Always fire.
"Anyhow, if you're ready to start? Oh! And we don't want to ruin your clothes, so..." After a little rummaging, Xiu managed to dig out two aprons and tossed one on. She had two sets of everything out, from cookie cutters, to measuring spoons, to mixing bowls. Finally, a notebook containing the recipe was place between the two ghouls. She tapped the first instruction.
"So first, you measure these and cream them together until they're smooth." Xiu said, carefully measuring the listed amount of butter and sugar and then mixing them in her bowl.

At least she wasn't the only one to have a horrible baking experience, though Mitsu had pretty much been ruined on the idea that she could make anything edible. But again, Xiu was here, she could hopefully watch over what Mitsu was doing.
Taking a few more sips from her tea Mitsu set it aside as Xiu rummaged around for an apron. Luckily the baku was small as well so the apron actual fit instead of swallowing her small frame. Once it was tied into place Mitsu tried to help set everything up to get ready to measure looking the book over as Xiu pointed out the first step.
"So this...and this." Mitsu gave a nod taking up the sugar and trying to measure it over her bowl to avoid making a mess if it spilled. She ended up pouring a little too much but...that would be alright wouldn't it? More sugar was always tasty, it would make it sweeter.
That part out of the way Mitsu took the butter that was needed and added it to her bowl as well and started to work away at it trying to make it smooth. It seemed to be a bit of a battle at times trying to get all the lumps. There were moments she almost toppled over her bowl but finally it was mixed into something...somewhat smooth.
"What's next?" The lupine asked looking back to the book.

"Next, you--oh, hold on." She leaned over to preheat the oven, and then turned back. "You need these." Xiu picked up an egg and a bottle of dark liquid, waving them in front of her with a grin. To demonstrate, she expertly cracked a few eggs into her bowl, measured in a tiny bit of the liquid, and then started beating everything together.
"You want to make it nice and smooth." She instructed, turning to look at Mitsu with a smile. Since this was a relatively easy recipe--and Xiu already had colored icing prepared and refrigerated--she knew that they would be able to get these spookies done quickly. However, there was one part where they would have to wait for a while.
"We'll have to chill the dough for a little bit after, so if you'd like...well, I got a few of those prom pictures printed. If you want to be the first to see them...?" The Baku had to stifle a giggle as she thought of those photos. It had been quite a night.
