First and foremost this is a Player run event. Though approved by the shop and GM's they are in NO way connected to this little event. It is for fun only! Your character might win money and bragging rights in character, and there may be some fanart given out oocly, but there are no shop prizes or anything shop related. It is a good device to power through some of you growth rps though and meet new characters!
Youma Hunter of the Month Compeition Quote: June 30th, 10pm. Just under a week before a strange message had rang out on senshi cellphones all over the city. When the day on the mysterious flyer arrived interested parties were quick to realize that the message had been updated to include a gps location as well to follow.
The old warehouse wasn't the most elaborate of places, old dim lights doing little to warm the interior of the abandoned building. But the slow stream of life and energy did a lot to cheer up the place as senshi of all types slowly made their way in and found places to sit or lean as they waited.
A makeshift platform had been made with little more than a podium, a squire keeping a watchful eye, and a few large boxes resting on top of it. Their host, after making rounds among some of the wandering senshi finally made her way up as the clock drew nearer to the scheduled time. Standing primly behind the podium the eternal senshi of magnetism, Sailor Polaris, spoke a few words of greeting, before going about unsealing boxes. "Thank you all for coming, I'm so pleased to see such a large turn out. We are going to go ahead and give stragglers about five minutes, so feel free to mill about and meet your fellow senshi. We will begin at 10:05 promptly"
As assumed a few senshi continued to straggle in as they waited, having either got lost or not particuarly caring about punctuality. The pale haired host didn't seem to mind, simply waiting until the time she'd suggested. Though if one looked hard enough they might have noticed the soft way she fidgeted with the podium and her own hair.
Precisely the moment the clock stuck 10:05 Polaris cleared her throat in warning, before lifting her voice as loud as she could manage. The large room helped in that feat by carrying her voice far. Really she didn't want to repeat herself if she didn't need to.
"Welcome to the very first large scale Youma hunting contest! I'm Sailor Polaris, eternal senshi of magnetism and I'll be the host and judge of this contest. I'm sure you're all very curious so I'll get right to the point."
"Anyone that decides they would like to participate will be given a camera. Please try your best not to break them, you will be emailing the photos directly from the device. The goal will be to take a quick shot of any youma you encounter before you dust them. I realize that most youma won't want to pose for a shot so I'm not expecting a glamour shot or anything. As long as you can vaguely make out some feature of yourself.. a skirt or glove.. hair.. whatever and enough of a youma to identify it."
She paused a little, waiting for some grumbles or complaints. In truth she knew it was dangerous making them take a picture first.. but it was the only way she'd figure out how to keep a tally of things. It was unfortunate, but hopefully it wouldn't turn out to be too much of a problem.
"As with all senshi work I highly advise working in pairs or groups for safety. In fact if two people are taking down the same youma it will count as a youma for each of them, I believe working together is always a smart strategy not a handicap, though in the end of course only one can win!"
"I'm sure prizes are the reason most of you are here. As stated the one senshi who kills the most youma will receive $500 cash and the prestige of being Youma hunter of the month. Your picture and name will be sent out for everyone to see for ultimate bragging rights, very much like the message I sent around for this meeting. Second place and third place will also receive $200 and $100 respectively" It was her summer waredrobe fund, but it was for a good cause, she could shop cheaper or wear last year's clothes.
Polaris had really be uncertain what to offer at first as a prize. Money seemed a good prize to those that might be more hard off.. but for people like her.. little trust fund princesses.. prestige was infinately better. Still would either prize garner much attention? She had been hopeful.
"At the end of each week you can send all the pictures you've taken that week to an anonymous email address by clicking this button here in any area with wifi" She motioned with one of the cameras lightly. "If you don't have wifi at home many cafes and establishments around the city have free wifi that you can use"
"I hope this will prove to add a little fun and competition to your everyday duties and give everyone a nice little challenge. I know sometimes patrolling can get boring or overwhelming but it is necessary to senshi and it's about time some people got recognized for their diligence and effort. I will be participating as well, but only for fun and I'm always happy to help if anyone finds themselves in a sticky situation. Just give me a call."
"Regardless of the winner everyone who wants to come will be treated to some nice food and refreshment during the closing ceremony on August 1st."
It seemed to her that she had covered the necessary information, so after a moment she motioned to the boxes. "Everyone is free to come forward and get your camera. If you have any questions feel free to ask them now, nice and loud so everyone can hear please."
This thread is prodominately for rolling and keeping track of information. You are free to post with what your character thinks of the idea in solo style or do some minimal talking between a couple characters or IC question asking. But it's an rp in the loosest of terms, after the first couple of posts this thread will mostly be filled with rolls and links. As long as you post enough words though it can be used for a solo or regular rp.

How it will work:
1) This will run 1 month ICly (July 2011) and roughly 1 month OOCly (June 30th - early August?).
2)~ Having received a message on their phone interested senshi will gather to learn about a contest. Characters will be given cameras in which to document their youma run ins. A character is only required to take a picture of themselves with the youma in the background for it to count. It can be assumed that once a week pictures are emailed off to some anonymous email or something. Whoever has the most at the end wins.
So how do we determine how many youma:
** Each week people participating will randomize a number based on how many days that week their character went on patrol.
If you're a regular senshi -1 from your number before you roll, if an eternal +1 to your number.
Chibi senshi are weaker so have an even higher handicap. Regular get -2, and super -1 for the number before it's rolled.
(Ex - Say your character patrols 4 nights a week.
If a regular you would randomize a number out of 3, if super randomize a number out of 4, if eternal randomize a number out of 5).
This is the number of youma your character encountered this week.
3) To be eligable to win the contest, for every 10 youma your character kills, atleast one of these kills should be rp'd out.
(Don't stress about this, even with perfect 8 rolls every week the most rps would be 3, most likely it will be 1 or 2 required for the entire month)
4) That said, you can get bonus points for doing rps above and beyond your required few! :3 Bonus points work like this:
* A solo with your character finding or killing a youma = 1 point
* A regular battle rp = 3 points
* A rp that isn't an official battle (for instance only one powered character) = 2 points
To make sure people don't abuse this there will be a limit of 10 bonus points possible. If there is a lot of interest however the number might be raised a bit.
5) At the end of the month everything will be tallied and a winner announced ICly. Some raffles for OOC fanart will be rolled as well.
Rules:
1) Please be reasonable with your guesstimate of how many nights a week your character patrols. Is it really IC for your character to patrol 28 nights in a row without a break? If so, good for them and go ahead! But I can't imagine very many characters would do that without a driven reason.
2) When I post for each new IC week feel free to roll your number for the week. I will probably do this every 3-5 days OOCly but I will give warning and you have a month to finish all required rps. Post all related rps in the thread as well please.
3) Please be a good sport. Everyone knows sometimes the dice suck A LOT. You might get screwed thanks to the dice, it sucks.. but please be a good sport about it. Fanart prizes will be raffled from everyone and you can earn bonus points.
4) You may join the game after it's initially begun. You character is assumed to have been at the first meeting but you don't get to makeup the rolls you weren't around for. (so if you start the second week in you only get 3 rolls)
5) For your rps and for flavor it's more then okay for senshi to share youma. As long as you both take pictures it counts for both of you (this doesn't actually add anything extra to your OOC count however)
6) This is open to EVERY character with a cellphone (sorry knights!). So whether you're a brand new senshi or eternal you're free to enter.

FAQ's
Out of curiousity, are we required to RP every youma kill we roll?
Nope! Only one out of every 10 you roll needs to be rp'd out. :3 You can do more than that for extra credit though! (so if you kill 23 youma in the month only two rps need to be done)
Bonus points work how?
You have to do a certain amount of rps to be considered for the win (1 for every 10 youma your character gets), but if you do extras they count as bonus points.
Here is the point run down
* A solo with your character finding or killing a youma = 1 point
* A regular battle rp = 3 points

Week one rolls are done, so does that mean the rp is finished/I can't post in it?
Nope! The rolls are happening in a rather OOC way. The rp that's going on now will be available of posting for the entire month, but ICly it only stretches an hour or two, at the meeting on the night of June 30th. You can continue to post and play all month and it's unaffected by which week we're rolling! Join at any time

Positioning herself at the edge of the platform, Polaris dug into one of the large boxes, producing two camera's that she held out for the first who might come to take them. She hoped that people would be interested and enjoy themselves too. What a perfect oppurtunity to inspire some diligence and drive in senshi that might have otherwise been just drifting along. Not to mention introduce herself to a huge new population of senshi.
Hopefully she'd be leaving with tons of new friends and allies. And the streets of Destiny city might even be a little safer than usual!
((So I'm going to go ahead and do Polaris' first week roll so that everyone can get the idea!
Usually she patrols 6 nights a week. But since she's still dealing with injuries from camp she will only be going out 4 nights this week.
As an eternal senshi she gets a +1 bonus. 4 +1 = randomizing from 5
So Polaris killed 2 youma this week!))

Niflhel watched over the boxes and the senshi gathered mainly there to make sure Polaris didn't hurt herself worse as she handed out camera's helping when the crowd got too chaotic, if only to get them away from the stage a little faster so others could claim cameras.
Occasionally he'd stop to watch the people working with the cameras. Wondering if they would just be here for the swag or actually participate. He wouldnt''ve even been here if Polaris hadn't told him what she was planning on doing. He shrugged softly though to himself and continued to help occasionally seeing people glance at him as if they were unsure which side he was on.

Europa had responded to the message in a heartbeat - partially because she was feeling competitive but mostly because it was from Polaris, and Yay Polaris. She held no small affection for the other scout - in fact, when encountered, her soonest response was to run squealing across the room and hug her like the high school girls they had so recently been.
But this was Polaris's schtick, and she did not want to steal the other scout's thunder.
Oh screw it. Europa bounded over to the stage and took a camera from Polaris. "Oh, my god, this takes me back to two years ago," she gushed. "So, we're playing Peter Parker all over again? This is awesome. Polaris, you're a genius."
((I'm going to roll my weekly totals? Europa's an overachiever, and with everyone else at camp, she's been picking up slack. Five nights a week. Plus eternal, so randomizing from 6.))

Sailor Pasiphae was much more nervous about this meeting than some of the other Senshi around her. She had recieved the message and, dutiful as she was, could not bring herself to resist its summons... even if it did mean that she wasn't going to get the dishes done by morning, as she'd promised her dad she would do. Unless she stayed up into the early morning... well, it was cheating, technically, but it would get done and he wouldn't let him down?
She moved from her own thoughts, however, whenever Sailor Polaris introduced herself. Another Eternal Senshi... someone as powerful as Europa. When she heard the reason for being summoned, however... her brows knit in confusion. A prize? For killing youma? But it was the duty of the Senshi to hunt youma, to protect Destiny City; all of the Senshi Pasiphae had met seemed to take this responsability very seriously. Putting money to the cause... competition... it just seemed... wrong.
The teenager didn't like the sound of this contest... but, if it helped other Senshi feel better about fighting youma, inspired them... who was she to object? She kept her judgments to herself and smiled nervously as she came to Polaris. She did not take the offered camera, but instead replied, "I'll gladly fight as many youma as I can find and help other Senshi fight, but... I don't really want the money. So, um... if you could give the camera to someone else?"
(Rolling for Pasiphae's youma - she doesn't have a set patrol, so I'm just using 3 days a week. -1 for being Sailor, so out of 2.
Also, if anyone would like Pasiphae to HELP them battle youma/anyone wants to help her battle, she'd be game. Just approach her and ask! She's not interested in the prize - so this officially means that she wouldn't win, even if she has the most. 3nodding )

It was a sea of unfamiliar faces, a sad reminder of how many senshi she didn't actually know. But as the sea parted one very familar senshi appeared, and even with her healing wound and attempts to be a respectable host Polaris couldn't help but return Europa's enthusiastic greeting. Her arms wrapped around the senshi of the deep in one long squeal of girlish delight. She couldn't even begin to express how happy she was to see the other girl there! If she had come for moral support then she had definately succeeded!
She had been forced to leave for the stage when it was time for announcements to happen but when Europa returned again, this time to grab a camera she laughed a little. How nostalgic indeed! To be handing out a camera now after the circumstances of their first meeting...
"I promise the email address is quite safe this time though atleast, so there shouldn't be any worries like back then."
She was truly grateful for the compliment and vow of confidence and it was evident from the way she glowed. Polaris really was a ham for praise and power. "I hope others agree with you and we have a very productive month!"
The eternal senshi of magnetism was more then a little surprised when Pasiphae approached her and the words left the mouth of the fledgling senshi. Pleasantly surprised of course. She withdrew the offered camera softly, nodding her head at the girl's decision. "That's very refreshing to hear, I wish more senshi felt that way."
"Maybe some day we can patrol together or something? I love working with other responsible senshi"

Of course Maia was there, it was Polaris and so she came. The idea seemed excellent and since they had to patrol and kill youma, Maia really didn't see why anyone would not show up.
She listenedly patient as Polaris spoke, but as she was finished and started handing out camera's Maia quickly shuffled up the pair at the front.
"Hi Polaris," she said happily, before looking to the knight, "And I didn't catch your name at camp, but hello to you too. And congratulation on the upgrade."
More shyly she looked at Europa and said, "Hi Europa, looks like congratulations are in order for you too."
She took her camera and grinned at Polaris, "I have to talk to you later this week. Its about what we talked about not to long ago. You were right."
The message was cryptic, but Maia didn't want to dregde up bad memories or feeling at the moment, beside she was sure Polaris knew what she was talking about and not only that she was smiling. That meant good news.

"I swear to god I won't post any of this on Youtube," Europa replied to Polaris, blanching briefly. If current Europa were to meet rookie Europa out on patrol one night, she would probably smack her past self into last year for being a complete idiot.
She gave Pasiphae a warm smile, and then turned her attention to Maia. "And to you, too!" she gushed. She didn't know when it had happened, per se, but Maia had definitely earned her Super stripes in the months since she and Europa had parted. Despite whatever prickly feelings Europa might have felt at one time over the other girl's so-called abandonment, she was already in a good mood and she gave her old friend a long hug.
"I wonder who else is going to turn up?" she asked, looking around curiously. "I want to patrol with all three of you! Not on the same night, maybe, but at some point for sure."
Europa hated patrolling alone, and now was as good a time as ever to pick up some new buddies.

Originally when she'd seen the message go out from Polaris about the competition she'd brushed it off. She had no need for money, and since she was still recovering from camp and that b*****d captain's attacks, Perseus wasn't even sure that she wanted to participate. But it kept nagging at her all day, for it one thing called to her it was competition. She loved competing. So slightly slower than she may have normally, Perseus arrived at the designated location and signed her name down with no small satisfaction. She thrived on competition.
The sailor accepted a camera and turned to see if she knew anyone. Polaris and Europa were certainly familiar faces, and Pasiphae she'd just met recently, but the rest were just kind've a blur of unrecognizable faces. "Hey guys, great idea at the contest." She offered a smile as she walked up to Polaris, Europa, and Pasiphae.
((Due to her somewhat extensive injuries from camp, she only patrolled 3 times this week so she could recover))

"Niflhel" "Maia" She motioned between the two as she said their names, blowing through the introductions because she wasn't even sure if Niflhel was paying attention or simply trying deserpately to make certain a swarm of chaotic energy didn't sudden flock to the large meeting.
A lot had happened since Polaris had last talked to Maia, but it would have been impossible to forget what Maia was referring to. But any worries that she might have had about the cryptic message were put to rest. The change her her mood and attitude from that night was like night and day. And between the smile of the other girl and the always nice 'you were right' Polaris was obviously overjoyed for her! "You give me a call whenever. I'll make the time to come and see you."
Polaris laughed a little at Europa's comments, finding it very hard to try and keep up the serious and responsible host front for very long. GOD she missed having a team! Seeing these guys all the time and being able to just.. rely on each other and have fun and be happy even as they did their job. "It's a date." She piped up with a wink, turning from Europa to offer Perseus her camera.
"Thank you very much! I hope everyone has a lot of fun" Gahhh they were feeding her ego and she loved it! Each compliment only seemed to make her puff her best out a little more, growing ever more confident that the contest would be a success!

Also I'll try to get all the details worked out on rp extra credit. I'm just still trying to think of the fairest way to make it both worthwhile but also not possible to gain 50 millions points shoving out a dozen youma killing solos XD The information will definately be solidified before this weekend is over though, so plenty of time!

Maia nodded at the introduction then blinked rather surprised when she was hugged by Europa. She stiffened at first, but quickly hugged Europa back. She had sincerely missed all of her friends and she happy after all the hurt feeling time had helped.
Releasing Europa she looked to Polaris, "I call you soon," then she turned back to Europa. "I'm always up for a patrol."
She looked to the other, she remembered her attacking Painite at camp, she gave the girl a grin and said hello before nodding at her statement. "She is right, this is an awesome idea."
Suddenly a thought stuck her and she pulled at a silver chain that had been tucked beneath her collar. "I don't want to steal you thunder Polaris, but I want to show you and Europa before I forget. Actually I wanted to show you for a while." She thought the other super would understand the crystal but she was sure the Niflhel would or the other senshi standing with them.
She opened her hand to reveal the mint crystal, "It weird it only works for me and I have to sing to make it work. It makes a rainbow brigde."

Sailor Pasiphae could feel a small blush cover her cheeks at Polaris's describing her as responsible. She didn't feel any more or less responsible than any other Senshi she had met; she was simply fulfilling the duty that had been entrusted to her. She smiled gratefully, however, at the Eternal Senshi's suggestion of patrolling together; she was always glad to have someone better equipped fighting with her. "I'd be happy to work with you, Polaris."
She moved to the side when another Senshi approached in order to allow her to take the camera and caught sight of Europa! At the smile sent her way she beamed a smile back; she was happy to see her! She seemed to be heavily engaged in conversation, however, and Pasiphae didn't want to interrupt... so she took half a step back and listened. It felt almost too much like her interactions with others at school... but then Europa piped up that she wanted to patrol with her as well. "Of course, Europa--I'll patrol with you. Just call me any time."
Call... phone! Pasiphae pulled out her cellphone and began to scan the unfamiliar Senshi around her, Polaris included. She nodded at Maia, a new face for her, and then smiled when Perseus approached, happy to see another familiar face, "I've been offering to help people patrol... if you need me, I'll be glad to tag along with you too?"
