The evening air was crisp and clear as students began to leave the building of their dorms, the unusual sound of scuffling dresses and heels clicking along the stone pathway breaking the silence of twilight. The pumpkin sun had long since fallen to a blood red at the edge of the horizon, mostly veiled by the web of trees of the surrounding forest, and the sky had just begun to fade from a sun-kissed lavender to the pitch black which would soon shadow the entire night sky. Indeed, even the moon was beginning to come out, large and orange for the harvest tonight -- a treat for this special evening. Light was fading quickly, although surprisingly it looked as if some friendly gnomes had set up purple and orange... christmas lights? ... along the sides of the winding pathways, guiding their students to their destinations.
The night of October 24th had finally arrived.
Upon first approaching the Auditorium building, it doesn't seem like much has changed. Two flickering white lights hang idly on each side of the wall, illuminating the large brown double-door that allows you passage into the main lobby. And it is here that the show begins. The Prom Committee had spent the entire day decorating and baking, culminating in the event that would be held that evening. The faint smell of delicious cuisine wafts in the air, coaxing students closer. But it is the inner set of doors that catch the eye, demanding all attention and focus with a regality that is likely to leave a student with chills and a little knot of adrenaline in their stomachs. Standing there, looking at the doors to the main room of the auditorium, students would be shocked to find that the door has been completely replaced. In it's stead, a glowing neon-green double door of gnashing teeth greets you, framed by cackling orange skull-dice.
Now all you have to do is walk through. Welcome to Boogie's Dice Room~

Off to one side on the stage, a half-moon podium has been set up, a high-tech sound system blaring music across the revolving dance floor. With a mischievous smirk and a press of a button, a cascade of multi-colored lights shower the room, a light fog beginning to mist the empty stage. Inside this booth, two ghouls scratch out a beat, each complimenting the other... although does it seem to you like perhaps there might be a DJ war on the horizon? Only time will tell~ AshWhen the party starts bumpin' and that music is thumpin' it'll be ScreeJay Ash delivering the phat beats with a direct feed straight from the speakers to your feets. Being dead won't stop her from becoming one with the music and rocking it all night long. CadyScreeJay Cady's out to bring the house down- literally. What does this big red button do? Let's find out! Seriously though, who gave this ghoul a mic? The staff would like you to know they can't be held responsible for what she does - or doesn't - do with it.

**THIS SECTION IS CLOSED!!!! -- THANKS FOR VOTING GUYS!** Off to one side, where you may not have noticed before, a large pair of orange dice sit propped up by the main entrance, looking particularly innocent as they blend in with the rest of the props. Or they would have, had there not been a GIANT sign with the words 'VOTE FOR PROM COURT HERE' right above it. Well, not everyone can be inconspicuous, now can they?
Upon approaching the dice, the first thing you notice is that there are sheets of card stacked on one of the dice, along with a cup full of Snake Pens. The next thing you notice is that the other dice has a rectangular slot cut out the top, with an arrow pointing to it (for those who might not be the sharpest tooth in the mouth) -- it seems that after you fill out the form, you're supposed to drop it in there. Easy enough... Prom Court is simple -- all you have to do is vote! Each person (not character) gets to vote ONCE -- one vote for a prom king, one for a prom queen, and one for a jester -- so think carefully about who you want to vote for! You have until Wednesday, June 29th to PM x_Nata_x with your votes, after which they will all be tallied in order to announce the winners. Please note, you cannot vote for your own character -- Sorry for the inconvenience. ICly, your character may rp walking up to the giant dice and slip their vote in the slot, however, please note this is NOT mandatory! The announcement of the winners will be made in this thread, and a notice will be posted in the title as to which page to see for the results. At that point, the winners will be asked to gather on stage to be crowned ICly by Nuk! As previously noted, the winners will be determined by popular vote. The King nominee who has the most votes will be named Pumpkin King, while the Queen nominee who has the most votes will be named the Pumpkin Queen. The second highest King nominee will be named Prince, and likewise the second highest Queen will be named Princess. Jester is self explanatory! NOTE -- THESE VOTES ARE NOT BY COUPLE -- YOU ARE VOTING FOR THE INDIVIDUAL. That means it is entirely possible for the Pumpkin King and Queen to have NOT come to prom together! As an extra bonus, four of our LOVELY artists have volunteered to do Prom Court pictures! The 'couple' who wins Pumpkin King and Queen will get first choice of the four artists, the 'couple' who wins Pumpkin Prince and Princess will get second choice, Jester will get third choice and a random person from those nominated will be raffled to have art done of their character with their date <3 Below are the artists with examples of their art! Was that just colored fog? It wouldn't be so strange if the shapes of music notes weren't lazily forming in the curly wisps...or if it wasn't faintly pink. Following the little cloud back to the ScreeJay booth one would be able to immediately find it's source. Glowing faintly (and not just because of the black lights) a ghostling dances in spot behind the booth, holding a pair of headphones up to one ear as she plays the next song. It's ScreeJay Ash, and when she notices you looking her way she gives you a flirty wink and a grin before going back to what she was doing.ScreeJay Ash will take song requests only when she is IN DA HIZZY and must be made a day in advance so they can be added onto the next day's playlist. Who's the ghoul you see flailing in the dim, multicolored light of the DJ booth? It's that new kid, Cady! Apparently her buddy Ash put her up to watching the booth while she was gone. The way she claws at the buttons ineptly in the strobe light is almost mesmerizing... She seems far too interested in all the shiny things on the booth to notice what's going on on the floor.
DJ Cady copypasta'd this info from Ash and therefore the same rules apply- song requests can only be made when she's HERE, and must be made a day in advance so they can be added onto the next day's playlist. PM any requests to me only if you see they are open.

The stage was set. The auditorium had been ready for the evening for quite some time, in fact, the Prom Committee Volunteers having long since left to get ready for their own dates, ready to dance the night away. Only a few remained, no more than four or five scattered individuals dotting the room, fixing a few things or marking things off a list. By the stage, Nuk was pretty sure he could see one of the Djs working with the sound system, confirmed as the heavy-metal instrumental version of the well known 'This is Halloween' began playing in the background, the volume steadily increasing. It would be playing for a while -- it was just a filler, for now, a welcome for the guests who would be arriving soon.
Even those who knew him might not have recognized the figure standing off to one side at first glance, straight black hair brushed to a raven-shine, dressed in an orange vest and black dress shirt and slacks. Although this was exceptionally uncommon, it was the lack of pelt and the presence of SHOES that was really offputting for the image of the skinwalker, leaving him hidden in plain sight. In the soft glow of the neon lights, Nuk himself was one of the few who stayed, leaning idly against one of the walls as he gave the room a long, idle look over. He had to be -- while technically it was the Student Council who was hosting Prom for Amityville Academy, mostly that just translated to the responsibility falling to him. Well, he and his lovely assistant, anyway.
Flicking his eyes over to Riley, he gave the ghoul a slow once-over before lifting his eyes again, cracking just the hint of a mischievous smile. He let whatever had been lingering on his lips die, however, instead folding his arms loosely across his chest, taking a slow, steady breath before releasing it in a slight sigh.
"Well... ready or not, here they come."

Riley was twisting a long, thin balloon carefully in her hands when she heard Nukpana's voice. She turned her head, just as her nail caught and snagged on the rubbery outside of the balloon, puncturing it. The pop in her hands barely startled her, as the music was so loud she almost didn't hear it.
She felt it, however, and her fingers rubbed against each other sorely. Balloons are stupid. Was her odd, slightly angered response, before she lifted her arm and rested her elbow on Nukpana's shoulder. Her other hand rested on her hip, and her eyes fell on the door expectantly.
I don't know what you're talking about. I was born ready. She purred, raising her hand up and tugging on one of his braids. Stop worrying. It looks fantastic. You did an amazing job, as expected.
The hand on her hip lifted and covered one of her ears, straining under the thrum of the music that filled the air.
Does it have to be so loud? She mumbled unhappily. Either Riley was unusually sensitive to sound, or just being an old hag.
Both were equally as likely.

After having helped set up the room, Jericho stepped out for awhile to go fetch Levi from her place as well as to get dressed himself. He was rather happy with the way the place had turned out. There were plenty of dice. He made sure of that.
Once everything was all set, the dragon swung by Levi's room to pick her up. Before too long, he was on his way back towards the auditorium with her.
---
Again, Shun found himself if it really was a good idea to be doing this, but it was far too late now. It was already too late when he said he'd do this for her. Even so, there was still that little part of him that was loathing the idea of a Prom. This did not stop the reaper from stopping outside of the white haired girl's room, knocking on the door to see if she was all set.
As he waited for her to answer, he stood by with his hands in his pockets. Bent-Tail unfortunately had to be left behind for the day. No doubt the mouse would have sensory overload or something along those lines at the dance.

Shehk had really debated just hiding in her room for prom, going home early, calling in dead...there were a lot of excuses that had cropped up as prom had grown closer and closer. But no, it would be another three days before the train would even go past her stop to go 'home'. Nowhere was home. Shehk's opinion stated she didn't have a home. She couldn't even remember that place.
But none the less, despite her fussing and whining, and hoping maybe somehow she would get an excuse to not go, she'd fixed herself up, pulling her hair over that raw spot on one side of her head and across it to hide it. She'd checked it six times. Whether she'd done it out of misguided rage or misguided idea that she could make Samantha feel better about herself and stop hiding underneath hats, it looked horrible.
It felt even worse, she'd admit, but it was mostly hidden now to the barest of glances. If someone looked at her for more than 10 seconds, however (and if they could get their eyes up past her neck), it would have been commentable on.
She prayed nobody would.
When her date had come to pick her up, Shehk had smiled, tilted her head to one side, and made a point to, at the very least, be a presentable and lovely date that she hoped wouldn't embarass the hunchback. She wasn't going to let herself be embarassed by the fact that her date wasn't who she had actually been expecting to go with when Prom had first come up.
But there had never been a chance for them.....
She wore the lightest of frowns when she and Christof stepped into the room, a deep feeling of loathing and woe in her chest, causing her stomach and heart to sink (she was pretty sure that wasn't a literal feeling and that she didn't need a check up, her organs had been pretty good about staying in place despite being dead) and her grip tightened on the patchwork's arm.
Anxiety.
Despite everything she was doing to try and seem like everything was alright, it was completely within her grasp to possibly still try to run for the hills, disappear for 10 weeks, then come back. It might have even been mysterious for her to suddenly vanish.
She'd put in the paperwork to explain her absence to the school already, so it wasn't as though there would be anything..too horrible about her vanishing in terms of getting in trouble (She hoped), but.. .... .....
her hands wrung together and her lips tightened into a smile that hopefully didn't make it look like she was in emotional pain to be there at all. But unfortunately for Shehk, the emotion on her face was pretty obvious to read;
Shehk Strigoi would have rather been anywhere else in the world but in that room, and it had nothing to do with Christof. She had no shame about that. She just didn't want him to see her. That probably could have been solved if she ripped out his eyes and kept them in a mason jar, but she didn't exactly have one of those... and it was such a pain to ruin a good face.. ... ....
Even if she wanted to stab it for causing her emotional turmoil not once, but twice.
====
To be exact, Tomoko didn't have a date. Nobody had actually asked her to come to the dance. But it seemed like it would have been a shame for her to not be there. Junko-chan had such a nice dress, and she at least thought she could come and see her and Seiji-kun dance! It was a rather nice idea, that was. It gave her glee as she clapped her hands together.
CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP.
Though not very loudly. She was in a delighted mood, despite not having exams with everybody else. She didn't worry about any of that stuff in the slightest. She was happy enough to just go with the flow of things, even if her tails had started itching lately. She scratched at one anxiously.
She just couldn't seem to keep her hands still anymore when she was suddenly without something to hold. Tomoko had actually forced herself to put her ball of stars down in her room and walk away. She'd gone back three times out of paranoia and reminded Mononoke and Kawadesu to watch out for it, before returning trying to leave.
It had been a long process to actually get herself to make it all the way to the auditorium, however...

"C..coming!" Mitsu called nervously. The dress Lizzy had helped her make was....cute. Very cute. Mitsu couldn't say she didn't like it because it was no secret that she loved it, but she hoped it would be okay. Making sure the half mask she had was in place, she slipped on some simple black flats and went to the door.
She hesitated for a moment before she reached for the handle and pulled the door open peeking out to see Shun waiting for her. "S...sorry to keep you waiting." Quickly she stepped out of the room before Ziggy had a chance to dart out at the reaper and closed the door behind herself. For a moment she was afraid to look up at his face, not certain what Shun would think of her outfit but finally her eyes caught his own outfit for the evening. "You look really nice."

Looking up as Mitsu came to answer the door, Shun paused for the moment, thrown off by the different mask she now wore. It wasn't bad by any means. He just wasn't quite expecting it, especially since it revealed the lower half of her face.
The comment the werewolf made also had him hesitate briefly before nodding to her.
"... You do too," he said quietly before glancing down the hall, "Are you all set to go then?"
The reaper seemed to pause there. Was he supposed to offer his hand at this point? He didn't really know and his fingers twitched within his pockets at the thought.

Sin was present because...well because it was prom and she had to be there. Her parents had urged her to take plenty of pictures and have fun with her friends. She flicked back an errant strand of hair and then picked up the train of her gown and glanced at her date. Rosc had of course asked her to the prom, though she had worried for a small moment that he wouldn't. Oh not because he didn't want to go with her, but simply because she doubted he actually wanted to go at all. Oddly enough the closer prom got, the more she shopped for the perfect dress, the more she saw the court nominations...the less she wanted to participate. She felt oddly selfish for dragging Rosc into the whole public, dancing, spectacle that was prom. They would probably both be happier enjoying a private moonlit picnic near a black lagoon somewhere and dancing to the soft strains of haunting cello music. A pang of guilt had hit her and she had to force a smile, after all Rosc had thought of her and he had brought her to prom so she had best be happy about it.
Her eyes skimmed over the decor and she spotted Riley flashing her a smile and gentle mental whisper. Everything looks amazing Riley hopefully she'd pass the message to Nukpana as well.
She spotted Shehk and offered her a tiny wave before looking back up at Rosc. "Shall we?" She was curious to explore, see, be seen, maybe dance a bit...and then oddly she was hoping they could slip off and enjoy the rest of the night alone, together.
