With a swipe of her paw Laelia batted away a pesty fly that was currently trying to go up her nose. My gosh what an annoying little thing!, she thought as she wrinkled her nose with irriation. Maybe it was the weather that was currently making her miserable. In parts her fur was fuzzled well the other half was slicked with sweat. Brown eyes narrowed as she thought of the fastest way to cool herself down and the answer was: the watering hole. Now to make it there with out passing out that was the key.
She loved her fur, but sometimes... it was the devil when the sun was out. It made her fur hotter and things more unbearable. She cautiously made her way out of her shady cave-like home and noted that it was mid-day out already. She had slept in later than usual. " Now to travel in this unusually blistering weather!" Laelia spoke with fake cheer inorder to make it better on herself. The watering hole was located a ways from her home and she could feel after walking for sometime that the effects of the sun were making her dizzy as well as disorientated. Maybe just.... a little rest... here. Laelia collasped by a tree that gave partial shade.

Kivumbi embraced the heat against his pelt, he was glad for the light colors the gods had blessed him with. His red eyes scorched the earth for any signs of waters, his mouth felt dry and almost sticky. He made his way to the waterhole a fellow avian had told him to look for. He knew this would be a rare chance for him to get a drink and he would take full advantage of that.
He picked up his pace as he felt his paws get hot on the scorching ground. He could just imagine the cool water on them and over his pelt. As he neared he noticed a tree and just below it a lioness. He could tell by the smaller sleek pelt. He looked at her and almost passed by certain she was sleeping. but he gave a second glance and he noticed her body looked awkward.
He made his way over concerned for her, though he would never show it. As he got closer his thoughts were confirmed, the sun had clearly gotten to her. He sighed and used his paw to nudge her, when she didn't respond he started to feel a little uneasy. He looked around and saw no one near so he pushed his head to her side. He felt relief to hear her heart beat and breathing.
He lifted her up and placed her on his back, he knew this partial shade would not be enough. He trekked with her dead weight to the water hole, many trees provided shelter and the cool water would be nice for when she awoke. Besides he started to feel drenched with heat with her on his back. He felt a sort of pity for having her pelt color in a dessert like this.
He made his way to a clump of grass and gently placed her down. He would let her be for a while so she could cool down, until then he would dip his own cool paws int he refreshing water.
He made his way down and felt embraced as the cool water lapped at his paws and then at his belly. He was happy for the water hole and slightly happy for the company, err at least he guessed.

Laelia felt a slight floating sensation, the ground below her wasn't as rough as it was before and she struggled to keep her eyes open. She opened her mouth to scent the air and what she got back was a strong smell of male as well as water. Suddenly she was moving again downward falling softly on to grass. Fluttering her eyes open she took her fill of the stranger who had saved her from the heat. " Thank you." Her words were soft and cracked from dry mouth.
"I...owe you a great debt." She managed out and felt her lids lower a bit. He really was a handsome fellow, very easy on the eyes. "Water... please?" Laelia hoped he understood that she was thirsty, her throat was becoming sore from talking so much.

Tere had been traveling for some time now just wandering around the rogue lands out of pure boredom. When suddenly she passed a female passed out on the ground. Pausing she just watched the other female seriously debating whether to help out the somewhat dead-looking creature on the brown grass. The summer had been harsh this season and you could see that be the looks of the earth.
A few minutes passed and Tere let out a grumbling sigh. She couldn't just leave her like this and so with an eye roll Tere wandered to the water edge and gathered a huge leaf to collect water inside of it.

Laelia sputtered awake as water suddenly came down upon her muzzle and up her nose. Coughing she tried to glare out at who had done that and nearly squeaked in fright...that is if she could. Squinting at the imposing figure above her Laelia croaked out a moan. A female leopard with scar like pattern's on her shoulder and eye. "D-demon?" Her fear got the better of her for a moment and oh how she wished she could take those words back when she saw the other snarl.

Tere felt her lip curl as she listened to the word "demon" come from the others mouth. "Oh, how nice. I come to save your sorry hide and this is what I get." Her voice gruff in sounding, it really was deeper than most females. She watched as the blush stained the other females cheeks "What happened to you anyways?" Tere looked around at the deserted area. Only trees, grass and water as far as the eye could see. " You alone? Gonna leave soon, it will be dark and best kill is at night." Tere spoke in boredom not really caring but more in awkwardness... she never really was good with being around others, social skills she did not have at all.

She eyed the other strangely before shaking her head to clear the moth balls. "Um, well you see...there was this male and I must have passed out because of the heat and then there was and you... when-" She paused here to raise her eyebrow. "I was awoken by water there was you and no one else... I can't believe he left me here alone." Laelia muttered and tried to atleast sit up on her own without help, it really didn't look like the other would have helped her up anyways. Laelia didn't know what it was but the leopard made her feel uncomfortable. She found her eyes widening at the killing comment. " Uh, no..no! I have someone coming for me." The lie came out of her mouth easily as she didn't feel it necessary for the other to know she was truely alone. "Thanks for your help."

Tere found her own brows raising as she did not expect a thank you, she was not used to them. "Yeah, sure. It's what I do." She may have said that but her expression clearly said the opposite. "Look, I gotta hit the road soon as I'm getting mighty bored and hungry. " As if her stomach heard those words it snarled quite loudly. Tere almost laughed, a rarity, when the other female before her jumped as if poked. "I won't be eating you dear lioness of that you have no worries."

Laelia watched the other wearily while muttering with some sacrasm. "Please, don't let me stop you." Curling her tail closer to her body in comfort she started edging away and to her utter embarassment when the leopard's growled causing her to jump. A blush crept along her cheeks curse her sometimes jumpiness. Now she appeared weak in the others eyes and that made her frown. She moved over to the water, eyes still on Tere, and took a sip of water before speaking again. "That is good to know.. Well, like you I must be going. It was nice...um..meeting you." She jerked the words out before heading out making sure the other feline was always in her sight incase of a sudden attack.

Tere watched as the other drank and spoke of leaving. Sighing mentally she nodded to the other female and gave her own goodbye with a nod and gruff bye. Once the other was out of her sight a scent hit the other cause her nose to flare at the glorious smell. Food. It called to her in a hauntingly wonderful smell, a grin slowly crepted along her muzzle. Cantalope. She would eat well tonight that was for sure.
And like her companion she too melted off into the darkness to satisfy the hunger in her belly.
END.
