ITS LOGGG ITS LOOOOGGGG Chobi Exams and prom and all sorts of stressful things went round and round the gryphon's head as she sat on a bench out side the main school building. Her failure to push her self to attend more classes and get out more to clubs or social events. Tahki had successfuly avoide socializing most of the school year by hiding behind her head phones or books or even her game boil. Her dorm had also been a great shield to prevent the dreaded awkward socializing. Though at the same time she hated her self for avoiding others. It felt empty avoiding strangers who could very well be friends. A sigh escaped her and she found her self holding her head in her hands. Thoughts drifted in and out of her head about what the year could have been like if she had worked up just a little more nerve. Now it felt as if the friends she had made were about to pass her by. "Its your own fault don't sulk," Oh great.. she was talking to her self now. That got a small smile though. Maybe she'd go crazy. Wouldn't that be something? King Almost a full year passed since Bul had encountered his first fellow student at Amityville. Tahki was a familiar face in all his classes but not someone he ever really talked to. This was of course the case for a lot of students he met but... He remembered Icky. Icky was one of those people that he just knew by face, an occasional groanspring or text but the boggart had gone completely missing since the island. The value of these fellow Halloween Towners was growing on the half beasts' mind. The thought of the first few faces he met was starting to haunt him and he genuinely wondered to himself how his first encountress was doing. Fortunately though he wouldn't have to wonder too much or wander too far as he passed the gryphon outside the school on a relaxing stroll. "Tahki? It is Tahki, right?" he said to her. "Oh er.. Im not bothering you am I?" he asked, realizing the air around her was about as distressed as his thoughts of Icky. "You doin alright?" Chobi Tahki was in her mind floating about the vast amount of worries she'd worked her self up on. Something dragged her out of her mind though and sent her spiraling down in to her own body. Her face lifted out of her hands and she found her self staring up at Bul. "..." It took a second for the gryphon to understand what was being said to her. "OH!! Umm.. Yeah. I'm just uhhh.." She met the half beasts eyes for a moment with her own before looking down at her feet. ".. Your not bothering me at all." She scooted over to make room for the half beast on the bench. King Turning his head some, Bul could tell through their eye contact that indeed something wasn't right. He sat down beside the ghoul and jimmied his legs trying to figure out what to say without treading on what was bothering her too much. "I haven't talked to you in a long time heh. Just seen you in classes here and there. How have you been, you getting in touch with your inner gryphon?" he teased lightly though didn't realize that was the issue. Chobi Bul had hit the bulls eye with out even meaning to. A slight surprised look gave a hint of what was going on in her mind when Bul teased. "Inner gryphon?" A small smile folded out on her face. Silence filled the air for a brief moment again before Tahki took off her headphones and placed them around her neck. She rarely took those headphones off, usually she used them to block out other people or escape but she was feeling brave right now and her inner battle was starting to make her want to reach out. Maybe just this once. "I get sick of being me some times... Do you ever want to be different then how you are?" It surprised Tahki she had just opened up. She hadn't ever said anything like that to anyone. Not even Amrita her best friend. Bul had stumbled upon a rare moment. King Taken back by the very powerful expression that she now gestured, Bul stopped jimmying and kept focused on the ghoul. Sick of being me.. Bul reached a hand back to brush through his hair. "Well.. maybe.. maybe sometimes. Not any time recently though.." He felt rather bad to not admit it though he didn't recall the last time he actually felt so strongly. "I wish I was different as in I could be strong enough to kick some a** at scaring but.." What else could he say, he was pretty full of himself. "Why do you ask? Are you telling me you dont wanna be a gryphon?" he joked but leaned forwards now, close to his knees. "I mean.. what do you mean?" He wanted to help and give words of wisdom but he also didn't want to just fill her with superficial sympathy. "You can tell me yanno. As an unbiased aquantence." Chobi Tahki felt a little silly now but she cracked another smile at kick some a** at scaring. Its what she wanted to in a sense. More then anything Tahki wanted to be brave but it was hard. Tahkis hands clenched in to fists and she faced the half beast with a determined look you might get from a child. "I want to be brave!" Whoah had she just said that? "I .. I want to kick a** at scaring too I mean I want to be ... I mean. I like being a gryphon." Oh geeze she had just said she didn't want to be her but she hadn't meant not being a gryphon. She meant more in the spiritual sense. But the gryphon quickly waved that away and went with it. "I mean... I want to .. uhhh..." Tahkis nerve was falling and fast. Why had she just confessed to all this again? Her hands started to go for the headphones around her neck but she stopped her self half way and sat on her hands instead. King "Brave?" Brave was hard in the face of that island and Bul knew it could be tough sometimes but Tahki really lacked bravery? That just seemed odd, weren't gryphons extremely bravehearted? "Kicking a** will take a while to get too though if you're thinking about the level of kick a** that I'm thinking of.." he paused to think. "Hey hey hey wait.." he said and reached out to stop her but was beaten to it. "So... what do you think you can do to be more brave and kick a**?" His first thought would be to work on centering in on his FEAR but... he hadn't done that at ALL since starting at Amityville at least not voluntarily. The only time he'd really used it and it was at a near non existent level was on the island when the portal wasn't working. Chobi Tahki blinked when he pointed out gryphons were supposed to be brave hearted. Bul was right though she was supposed to be brave being a gryphon. He was completely right. "Be brave and kick a** hmmmmm...." She'd been asking her self that with out knowing it for a long long time. The answer seemed to be one that wasn't quite in her grasp let alone view. "I'm.. ... I don't really know.. What would you do Bul?" Tahki tilted her head slightly.

King "What would I do?" Bul didn't have to think long and hard about this but he couldn't give a clear answer either. "I uh.. I'd prolly do everything I could and try and work my inner FEAR or something." The image of himself powering up like in his scarecade games made him beam on the inside. "I know that we aren't taught much about em right now.. unfortunately but.. it seems like that's what kinda saved us at the island yanno?" But what he didn't realize was there it was the entire reason he was getting targeted and attacked. If anyone explained this to him he may have felt a bit powerless. "But I have a problem with being too brave sometimes, the wonder of being a boil," he snickered. "Just I dunno.. keeping my goals in mind always serves as a reminder that I'll one day be able to reach them." Realizing he was just rambling at this point the half beast twisted his lips into a frown. "Eh.. too vague right?" Chobi Tahki frowned a bit at the mention of the island. She'd heard some stories from those that had ventured out and it did not sound pleasant. Tahki had gone on the boat ride but hung back on the beach while the others explored. Her and Amrita had drawn pictures in the sand to pass the time. There was no need to admit that to Bul though. "Inner fear hmmmmmm.." The gryphon looked thoughtful for a moment as she listened to the boil go on about being to brave. "N-nononon your not vague at all! You make sense... " Tahki gave Bul a firm nod to show she agreed, " I ... I think about goals too. I just can't get past always thinking I'll fail at something though. So then I freeze up and get to scared.... I think I'd rather be to brave then to scared," Being to brave may be a bit to dangerous though now that she thought about it. Playing it safe you never went any where though. The inner conflict continued. King Bul was a walking testament to over doing it on the brave. Well maybe not bravery but ignorance managed to get him stuck in a lot of sticky situations like gym and Cricket's class. "So you gotta fight back the freezing huh? That's pretty good, it's a start yanno." Bul proceeded to stand and stretched his limbs out, doing a number of toe touches as if he was about to run a marathon. "Let me ask you this, are you willing to break a few rules with me? We can work on our FEAR some as long as we don't get caught.." Surprisingly enough Bul was willing to meet the consequences, granted he didn't know just how high they were for doing something this gritty. Chobi Breaking the rules? Tahki felt a bit of a shiver down her spine. Did she want to take such a risk. Bul wasn't asking her to get up in front of the whole school and do a dance at least. "..." She was silent for a moment before hopping up on her feet too and stretching, or trying to mimic Bul's stretching. "Y-yeah.. I mean YEAH! I .. I need to take the first step. I can't sit here and feel sorry for my self if I don't try... right?" Her tone at the end was a little unsure. King "Heh alright now that's the spirit!" Bul grinned and gestured for her to follow him. "We just gotta go somewhere kinda sealed off.. but prolly outside.. hmm.." He tried to think of where they could practice with the least chance of getting caught. A dorm room would have been suitable except that it posed the risk of utterly destroying it so it had to be somewhere outside. "Hmm.. the bog maybe.." Bul had last bumped into Calder there so it wasn't garunteed to be secluded but he would be near something that would activate the need to use his FEAR. Bul treated water like it was its own entity of malicious power. If Tahki needed someone to relate to he'd risk the terror of drowning in order to help her with her own bravery. Chobi The bog? Tahki blinked it seemed like a pretty good spot. She'd not heard many people say they were going to head down to the bog. Though to be fair she didn't talk much to people or made any attempt to be around them. Her peer group was a bit of a mystery to her. "The bog ... ? O-okay!" She nodded. "Which way is the bog, " She looked to her right and left as if she was trying to figure it out on her own or reason it out. King Bul threw his hand out and bent his elbow in a beckoning notion before skittering his way in the direction of the bog. "It's just outside the campus but its not sealed off to students or anything. If anyone catches us we can just say we were doing homework.. er.. or something." It seemed like a legitimate excuse but it depended solely on WHO caught them. On the way there the boil looked back and sighed. "I havent actually tried this yet... not the way we're gonna at least. I hope we don't like.. ******** something up.." Bul was talking about using up raw FEAR without any specific direction but should they need to he'd be willing to spar as long as nobody got hurt. Chobi Oh right! Teachers! It would be bad if the duo got caught playing with forces that were they did not fully understand. Coming up with an excuse like home work and what not would be a good thing. "We'll think of something if we get caught," Her voice was so small saying the if we get caught. She did not want to get caught at all. Once she had gotten detention from professor blue and it had not been the funnest thing in the world. "I don't think were ******** up, " She at least hoped that they didn't ******** up. Tahki didn't fully believe her own words and it showed in her tone, "I'm not even sure how we get started with our fear. How do we fully know what our ability really is?" King Of all punishments Bul had recieved he'd yet to land his a** in detention. That didn't mean there wasn't room for change. He would certainly face some of detention level if he were caught meddling with the powers of FEAR as a first year. "I couldn't really tell you how just that you will feel it.. itll feel right and youll be able to kinda pick it out... I think." Once they reached the bog he did a little scouting around the area to make sure they weren't being watched by a sneaky little gnome then crossed his arms and turned to Tahki. "I remember at the island in a moment we all had to focus our FEAR. It had something do with these.. pendant thingies but I don't think we can find those anywhere." How in the world was he to describe this to Tahki in a practical manner? "Hmm... Lessee, you got anything that just really sets you off? Makes you super angry?" Chobi The smell of the bog had hit Tahki before they had gotten there. Half the time the gryphon girl held her nose as the two walked. Not that bad smells usually bothered her, her best friend was a rotting corpse, but the boggy earthy stench was something new. She'd live though. "Angry?" Tahki didn't have to think about it to long, "..... I frustrate me and that makes me angry. Invisible glass walls!" She gave a serious nod. Angst angst angst angst. That hadn't completely been probably what Bul was looking for. King Bul didn't mind the smell but he wasn't the most perfumed monster at school either. "Hmm... I uh.. don't think that considering yourself the source will be useful... you might implode on yourself or something.." he chuckled. "Wouldn't want to have to be responsible for that.. uh..." Try explaining that to the headmistresses with a straight face. "Got something a little more tangible maybe? Like.. ******** I dunno, bats?" he said, "It's gotta be something you can target and attack. I've got a couple of things I can think of uhm... like the shadows cloaks from the island.. I mean but that's just one thing. It helps to have a few.." he tilted his head to the side to give her some time to think. Chobi Tahki lowered her hand from her nose. The bitter earthy smell wasn't growing on her but she was getting used to it little by little. It was becoming more of a back ground stench now. Images of the gryphon ghoul imploding on her self burst in her mind quite vividly. The images played out like a gorey fire work which to say the least was not a pleasant thought. Tahki shuttered. "....Hmm.." What did she really hate? What did she really want? The cloak figures she had missed during the trip but the gryphon had heard all about them and their bastardly ways. It had angered her to hear such horrible things but not as much as those who wittenessed everything first hand. "I hate... " Tahki closed her eyes and thought really hard. "... I don't know? I think I hate what happened but I uhhh..." Tahki trailed off still not really wanting to talk about her time on the beach drawing in the sand while her friends had been slaughtered. What rolls down stairs alone or in pairs, and over your neighbor's dog? What's great for a snack, And fits on your back? It's log, log, log

King "What happened... you mean at the island?" he asked. "Well you don't have to know exactly what they looked like but if they're a good target then I think we can make this work," Bul smiled. Little did he expect though that he and Tahki would have a really hard time summoning any lick of FEAR worth while. In fact they'd probably find themselves too exausted after one excertion that they'd pass out. FEAR was far too much for a first year and they'd find out the really hard way. "Okay so let's just say its the cloak shadow guys since we can make any which on of these tress be them." He stood and tapped his chin thoughtfully then analyzed his next motion. "First I think.. we outta take some deep breaths and focus, see if you can stand perfectly still and-" Bul actually shut his eyes for this and blew a long tuft of air from his lungs. He didn't say anything else but clearly was going deep in thought. ...nothing happened. "...huh.." Bul shut his eyes again, and tried to focus once more but nothing happened again except his spines standing on end which was normal of the half beast when he was alert. Chobi Tahki listened to Buls every word. The island, the cloaked figures. She couldn't imagine what everyone had gone through. Some students really had come back to school with more then they had ever expected. Tahki had come back with out learning anything new. "Okay." Tahki nodded and took a deep breath of her own only she held it. Moments passed and the gryphons face started to turn blue. Quickly she released her breath and panted in time to watch Bul's spines. The gryphon blinked and shut her eyes trying to focus on her own fear. But, of course, the gryphoness wasn't entirely sure what it was she was looking for exactly. What were the signs you were close to achieving your fear? Fear was everything and everyone in halloween town. So why was it so hard to find that special tap on the inside?

King The island was a life altering event for the half beast and as much as he detested the event, he felt that it did a lot for him. He had become more aware of his mortality for one thing but he'd also grown more close with Mei and stopped taking his schooling for granted. If he ever expected to be prepared for that again he'd get his a** in gear and take on as much as he could mentally and physically handle. Unfortunately he needed the thing that he would end up depending on the most- His FEAR. As he worked on focusing with Tahki his FEAR did literally nothing but bead from his head in a mixture of force and heat from the bog. "...is anything happening?" Bul's patience got cut short when his idea failed him. "I.. wish I knew how to do this," the boil openly admited to the gryphon. "I actually... have no idea... how to channel FEAR like.. OUT you know? Not purposely at least." When he had done it on the island it was in bulk with the other surviving students AND the horsemen... and that was tough enough. "Maybe... we're just not doing it right? Yea that's gotta be it. Right?" Chobi " I think .. uhhh.." Tahki looked at the ground. She wasn't completely sure what to think. Sure she had read about fear in books but not how to channel it. The gryphons head popped back up. "You were in danger on the island.... maybe that triggered the means to survive and that drew it out?" Tahki scratched her head. Still that didn't really tell anyone much HOW to do it. A variety of factors could have triggered a fear reaction. The tempature could have been just right or maybe there was a type of herb that was near by that had helped. Maybe.. it could have been so many more things. "Hmmm... maybe if we tried to simulate that danger some how...." What the hell was she saying. Danger? What if a teacher found them being reckless. What if they got hurt? All these thoughts started to spiral around the gryphons skull but she managed to keep as normal a composure she could. King "Maybe..." he paused to think again. "Yea well we were like.. told to channel our FEAR for a light. But... there were a few of us and some really powerful monsters.. but.." Bul shook his head. "It's a good theory I mean right now we're not in danger so." Still Bul was disappointed he couldn't summon his FEAR and help the gryphon to use hers as well. "I'm not a good teacher anyways, I bet when the professors start teaching it we'll get better who knows." He shrugged and turned to the gryphon now. "Unless you can't swim or something I don't think I could bring myself to endanger you HAHA!" he chuckled nervously. That was HIS danger zone. Chobi Tahki looked thoughtful. A professor could help. Most of the professors scared Tahki though.... maybe talking to one of them would be enough to help channel their fear.. or at least Tahkis. No that was stupid. "W-whaaa- " Tahki almost feel backwards at the very notion swimming. Not that she couldn't, she could doggie paddle at least, but getting wet just didn't seem appealing. Still Tahki didn't fully want to give up on trying to channel fear. "I.. I ve got a better idea... How about we surprise each other now and then with something the other person might need to rely on fear with?" Did she really suggest that. "The other can't know its coming though like trying to scare hickups away," Tahki couldn't believe what she was saying. Did she really give Bul permission to... but on the other hand that was giving her permission to scare too. Did she have it in her? King It wasn't a half bad idea, though sex ed would have done the job if Bul wasn't being overwhelmed by Cricket's FEAR. "That's actually a pretty good idea!" Bul seemed impressed by the ghoul. "Yea actually how bout that. I mean just lurching out of the dark at one another or something right?" he seemed pretty gung ho about it but Bul was naturally reckless anyway. "You'd be okay with that, right?" Chobi Tahki nodded, "Y-yeah! It will help us both I think!" Her heart was racing now. They were actually going to go about it this way and now she had to help Bul. The question was how was she going to surprise Bul? That was a thought for later not right now. Her heart was pumping so fast from excitement and nerves she wasn't going to be able to think much about anything for a while. "Alright! Its settled then we'll have to surprise each other." She stretched her hand out to the monster boil. Bul Bul took her hand to shake and beamed very contently but before he let go he jolted forwards feigning an attack and let out a bellowing, "AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!" Maybe that was a little uncalled for.. Chobi Tahki had accepted the hand and shook it feeling like she'd made some head way when Bul moved fast at her with a loud cry. Tahki let out a loud, "EEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPP!" Before falling flat on her a** and looking up at the beast boil. She stayed there wide eyed for what seemed like forever to her but it had only been a few seconds. Slowly a smile curled on her face. "I-I didn't feel anything but good try...." Tahki helped her self up, "I'll be seeing you around then." She'd need to think of something good to get back at him for sure. The gryphon turned and headed back to the dorms with a peppier step in her walk. She had lots of planning to do.
