The great circle had raised to the highest point of the day, the pack was out hunting, the pups were asleep with the baby sitters, and the higher ranked members are either lazing about or out on patrol, re-scenting the pack lands. The charcoal-blue-hued beta had found it a perfect time to lay down and relax. His idle paws had carried him through the pack's main area as his mind was more focused upon thoughts, ideas, and concepts. Phrixos and he shared a special place now. Mythrila, a new female who has wandered into their lands, has been spending more and more time with Deimos and himself. It was a peaceful time and yet his mind seemed... troubled.
How did the pack, Deimos' family, see their long lost son? How did they see his relationship with another wolf? A male. A small, lean male who called the harsh, unforgiving North, his home before he was found.
It troubled him further.
How did Deimos' family see himself as a beta? He recently came here with lingering members of the Einsame Lykos and became a beta in this new pack, purely because he was the mate to the alpha. Did they acknowledge it or simply tolerated it because Deimos was family. Did he have to pull strings or jump through loops to do it so?
The thoughts nagged at his mind at every chance they could get even when he was able to sort them out when he was alone at the secret spot. He needed answers. He needed to talk to Deimos about them. He needed to ease these burdens. Yet... He was afraid. He was afraid of the answers the family would give. He was afraid that Deimos would get upset with him for having these thoughts. He was afraid that these burdens would never ease but only grow heavier as time passed.
Still, he smiled for everyone, laughed and grinned, wagged and barked, howled, hunted, patrolled, and babysat, he did his best to 'guise his troubled mind. It was his troubles, why add his onto anyone else's, especially if they do not care for it.
The blue wolf's sights fell upon a very large, familiar form. His tail raised, wagged, a smiled repressed his clouded mind as he bounded toward it. Without any hesitation, he nuzzled against the large form's broad, purple back, as he murred affectionately before flopped over the form's side, wagging on his hind legs. The large brutish creature that had followed the pack from the Einsame territory was a sight he could never forget nor would he want to. Next to Deimos, he was one of his favorite cuddle-buds. Considering time of day, and who it was, he was probably lazing about like the rest of the pack since many were either off duty or off on duty.
Ehrek gave a playful whine as he laid his head upon Kekarn's body. "Hi."

Kek was indeed lazing about the afternoon, not wanting to do much during the hottest part of the day. Moving so far south was quite an adjustment for the purple wolf, whom had always been more accustomed to cooler climates. His thick fur didn't help in keeping him cool, even after shedding the longer winter hairs. It was too damned hot . . . so doing absolutely nothing was the best course for the day. It was also one of his favorite past times. While he was a playful giant, so long as he had no duties to attend, if he wasn't goofing off somewhere than he he was lounging around and being somewhat lazy.
Now was one of those moments.
The purple wolf had his eyes closed, though his ears were pricked and alert. He was doing his best to ignore the heat of the afternoon, and was taking time considering all the new adjustments. Kek had always been a private individual, but he had only grown quieter and more reserved with the official loss of Einsame Lykos, and the great move. While he was glad to see be in the company of his favorite friendsd, Deimos and Ehrek, in all honesty the violet wolf hadn't taken the move well.
Where he had been comfortable as a staple member in their previous home, the quiet guardian that never much left the packlands and was there to keep guard when members were roaming, or there to happily greet a members return. . . now he was just some wolf. Some straggler who had followed Deimos and Ehrek in to new lands.
While he knew he was an accepted member he still couldn't help but feel a bit outcast. Now that they were here, Deimos was reunited with family, and a big one at that. While he was happy for his friend, the subject of family had always been a touchy subject for Kek. It wasn't something he ever spoke of or mentioned, but he had his own thoughts and views with family. While he considered Ehrek and Deimos and those of Einsame family, it was different now.
He wasn't really anybody's family anymore. He was just . . . Kek.
Like Ehrek though, he kept his worries and uncertainties locked away. This was Deimos' families land, after all, and they had graciously accepted all of them in to their territory. He didn't dare want any of them to think he was ungrateful for the hospitality, nor let Deimos witness his uncertainty. The purple wolf wasn't often uncertain or intimidated, but lately he couldn't help but feel unsure. He just didn't know where he stood anymore . . not with Acropolis, not with his friends, not with Therin.
Oi.
Thankfully though, he heard the sound of familiar paws and wasn't at all surprised when Ehrek bounded over, cuddled up, and rested his head on top of his own. Opening his eyes, he gave a lethargic grin and let his bushy tail wag a few times on the ground. "Well hello there," he greeted, still not bothering to move or disturb Ehrek's cuddling. "Fancy meeting you here, stranger."

Kekarn was a staple member of the Einsame Lykos, when he came back from his travels around the pack lands, he was glad to see the big luge there to welcome him. When Deimos was gone, it was just him and Kekarn. They would cuddle, they would talk, they would laze. What went on when he was alone was a mysterious to everyone it seemed, but Ehrek could sometimes find an unfamiliar scent around the area of the large purple male's sleeping quarters. That smell has become familiar but the face was never put with it. Who it belonged to was also a mysterious. The same smell was around from time to time when they moved here. The more he thought about his best friend, the more he realized, he didn't know all too much about his life prior to meeting him in the North.
The smaller beta wiggled against his friend with a wag.
"I see you're like everyone else around here, today, 'Stranger'," he murmured. Nuzzling against him, he gave a tired chuckle. "At least I have someone to laze with today."
With recent thoughts, he grew more and more curious about his friend. Would it be safe to ask invasive questions? What about that scent that tended to linger around him before and now was gone. The wolf that was hanging around him was gone, but since it seemed to have come and go as they moved further south, it meant that whoever it was hasn't gotten too close to him since. Was there a relation with this wolf? Which raised another question; Kekarn was very close to Deimos and him, and he hasn't really noticed anyone else that was chummy with him... Did he have a mate? Had a mate? What was his preference?
Ehrek's wandering thoughts were making him feel rather... inquisitive.
"So, what have you been up to lately, my friend?"

Kek appreciated Ehrek's friendship and certainly enjoyed his company. He had always been an affectionate individual, had always loved a good cuddle or puppy-pile. It likely went back to the years he felt nothing but reject and how often he was turned away when his preferences and unconventional tastes came out. Times certainly had changed, with Deimos being one of the first wolves who not only accepted him freely, but was of similar mind. It had been a refreshing change, and Kek knew then and there he had at long last found home.
Tail still wagging, thumping loudly against the ground, the purple coated wolf gave a low chuckle. "It is a good day to laze, being so wretchedly hot. . . I regret nothing!" Twisting his head up, he offered Ehrek a few amicable licks in greeting, before admitting, "The company is most welcome though." And that was definitely the truth! He loved Deimos and Ehrek dearly, and if anyone ever wanted to see the the violet wolff upset, all someone had to do was threaten either or. While Kekarn was not known for his temper or aggression, he certainly had his moments when loved ones were threatened!
Completely unaware of Ehrek's curiosity, the striped wolf did have his secrets. Well, they weren't really secrets, but he wasn't prone to bringing up such subjects unless directly asked. He was private, but there were some who could poke and pry without worry.
"Not a whole lot, really. Adjusting to the weather," he teased a bit, though there was truth behind his words and it wasn't just the weather. Part of Kek had wondered where his . . .roving friend . . . had gone. He knew he had a tendency to be evasive and disappear, but Kek did miss the smaller, ebony male. It occurred to him he might need to leave the lands for awhile and try to sneak off to find the other but . . .he also knew that Therin wasn't exactly one to be sought out. He came, he went, he did what he pleased and having joined a much larger pack. . .well. . . Kek wasn't entirely sure how easy it was to enter the territory.
Oh well. that was something to continue to think about and ponder later. Right now, his attention was on the blue and black wolf before him. "And what of you?" He knew Ehrek had been fairly busy, but he wasn't entirely sure if that was by choice or encouragement from other members in the pack.

"Hunting with the gammas, babysitting the pups whom aren't so puppy-like anymore, patrolling the boarders, specifically the plateau, and following Deimos about secretly," Ehrek laughed at the thought. He has been hunting, brushing up on his skills as a hunter. Back in the North, he was a horrid hunter, he was an absolute mess when it came to hunting that the witted rabbits often got away in just two turns. The young wolf was more of a scavenger or went about on his luck. Being in a structured environment now, more so than back at the Einsame, puppy sitting was a new concept to him, but he enjoyed it when they weren't too rambunctious. Following Deimos around on his patrols was just another pass time, mostly to keep close to his mate for when he had an itch.
"Adjusting to the weather indeed... been quite some time since we've been together, and I have still not adjusted to the change of scenery." There was no snow here that he found, and it only came about a few cycles during the year and the snow would melt away to the rivers. The storms were not as violent nor was the rain as heavy. The air was warm and he often found himself panting for no reason at all. Mud clogged between his toes and caked on to the point he had to lick it off. Leaves clung to his fur. Leaves of all things, up north, there was not many but needles and pine cones. The flowers and the vibrant green was nice initially, but now it was becoming an annoyance.
"I do miss the cold north, gave me a very good reason to cuddle like this." He added, nuzzling tightly to his friend. Kekarn was a very large wolf, at glances, he often appeared larger than any of the wolves in Deimos' family. He could be a powerful guardian of the pack but Ehrek cannot see it. He was far too kind and very affectionate, the image of his friend wouldn't seem to change regardless of what happens. Kekarn was Kekarn.
"Sometimes, I think I left something back at the North when coming to Einsame with Deimos." He spoke idly as he rested ontop of the violet lug. "Don't you think I've changed since coming down here?" He chuckled. "Do you even recall our first encounter?"
