When everyone woke up Wednesday, they were discouraged to see rain falling outside the windows. It came is waves, sometimes slowing enough to run outside to visit another cabin, or make it to the mess hall before another down pouring that obliterated the sight of other buildings came in. There were a few counselors that were determined to keep the kids entertained, so letter writing and friendship bracelet making were offered in the mess hall instead of the tables outside. Nary a bird was out though, and the whole cabin seemed to take on a gloomy feel. Unless you were in the campers' cabins. They were busy bouncing off the walls from stashed candy reserves. For once, everyone had energy.

Castille was in Hemlock Cabin, her hair pulled out of it's double buns and wrapped in a towel. She had spent some time over at Daffodil Cabin, making sure the kids weren't trying to kill eachother. But she had chosen a poor time to run back to her own cabin, and she entered the cabin, soaked from head to toe. Her shoes lay upside down on the ground, and her clothes were in a soggy pile on the floor. She had changed into a plain green tee shirt, covered with a overly large grey and crimson sweatshirt with "WSU Cougars" printed on the front. Paired with loose jeans and warm dry socks. She was sitting by the window, watching the droplets fall and imagining them racing.

Griffin had been caught in the rain, and was miserable because of it. She'd been in Azalea cabin trying to entertain her girls, and when the rain seemed to stop, she chose it as the opportune time to go back to Hemlock. However, as soon as she was halfway between the two, the rain came down in buckets, and she knew she was defeated and just walked back. She opened the door with a heavy sigh and pulled off her socks and shoes, which were sticking to her feet. She looked up and saw Castille an said "...Puddle," knowing that it would be all the explanation needed for why her shoes were sopping wet.

She plodded over to her bed and grabbed a towel to do her best to dry off, but it hardly helped. She was so cold for summertime! She took a sleeping bag and wrapped it around herself, outside in. "Augh, it's so miserable outside." Only her face was poking out of the sleeping bag cocoon and she envied how warm and dry Castille was. "What are we supposed to do in weather like this?"

Griffin came in soaking wet, and Castille was sympathetic towards her. She looked miserable, so Castille tossed her a towel and said
"Yeah it's pretty nasty outside. I was soaked just getting from Daffodil to here." It landed on her cocoon uselessly, but hey, she had tried.

The rain came down in droves, and the rain hitting the rooftop was quite loud. She had no idea where the rest of the counselors in their cabin had went. Maybe they were taking refuge in the mess hall, or with the the kids.

"So I take it you were checking on your kids?" She asked, unwrapping her hair and running a brush through it.

"Oooh, thanks." Griffin drew the towel into her wrapping and began to scrub her head with it, and then also took in a brush and worked on her own hair. Usually she didn't mind rain all that much, but that was when she was prepared for it and wearing a rain coat instead of being soaked to the bone. It was just bad luck that she'd gotten soaked, she thought.

She too wondered where the fellow members of Hemlock cabin and thought of them like lost soldiers, fallen in combat or missing in action. What tragedy!

She nodded when Castille asked about why she'd been out. "Yeah, I just wanted to make sure they were all safe and dry. I had to put a pot in Azalea cabin under a leak in the roof." She shook her head, they really should have checked that earlier. "But other than that everyone is warm and cozy- well, except for me." She laughed, "they're all restless, too." She expected that the kids would all be bundles of energy the next day, but surprisingly everyone had been very tired in the mornings as of late. She even felt it herself, sometimes. How strange.

She nodded sagely, saying "Yeah I know what you mean. There's a flower pot over by the doorway here." She pointed to the entrance to the cabin. "And Daffodil cabin had a small garbage can under a leak by one of the beds. I feel bad for the girl who's sleeping by the window." She actually felt bad for all of the kids. They were cooped up while the rain poured down on them.

Castille figured they would tire themselves out eventually, but maybe she should check on them in a little while...

She laughed, saying "I finally warmed up. All it took was like four shirts a sweatshirt. And a bunch of socks." She wiggled her toes trapped in two pairs of socks. She rolled away from the windowsill, and flopped on the bed spread eagle. "Man I'm bored! This rain sure puts a damper on things doesn't it?"

Griffin thought how funny it would be if the flowerpot had been in a different cabin and with the corresponding flower planted inside. She was glad there was no hemlock in the one in their cabin, though. She too felt herself growing warmer and warmer. Slowly, albeit, but surely.

She wiggled in her sleeping bag and freed her face more so that she could breathe easier. Her face was too warm, but the rest? Not yet. She heaved a heavy sigh. "Sure is..." Her eyes fell to the floor and she hung her head.

But wait! She inched off of her bed with the sleeping bag still wrapped around her. "There's board games in here! In the drawer of the table!"

She was momentarily distracted with the thoughts of the prior days at camp when the sun was shining when she heard Griffin say "board games". "Oh there are?" She responded, bouncing off of her bed and running across the wood floor. She slid dramatically, coming to a stop by running into the table instead of stopping in front of it. Tom Cruise she was not.

She threw open the drawer, and eyed the beat up boxes. They were mostly kids games from what she could tell, but better than nothing! She removed a few of the games, taking care not to tear the already worn sides of the boxes.

"Well, we've got a selection here." She said, laying the games out one by one and trying to do her best salesperson impression "Though if you don't see what you like here, I might have something in the back." She offered a cheesy grin, gesturing toward the string of games.

Griffin pulled out a box and dusted it off. "Well here we have Trivial Pursuit..." she read the box, "...From 1983..." She set it back down and looked at the other boxes. "Hmmm. This'll be a tough choice." They weren't that bad of games, but she was 18. She tilted her head, read the titles again, and shrugged. "I'm game for whatever you want."

She took her time to clear off the table so they could spread out whatever Castille chose. She pulled a deck of cards out of the drawer on her side. So many options! Hopefully they wouldn't have to play through every game in the time it took for the rain to stop.

Castille laughed at the lame pun, looking over the titles. "1983 huh?" She said, picking up Trivial Pursuit. "If I were my mother, I'd be awesome at this version!" She laughed again, placing that particular game back in the drawer. There was Candy Land, Jenga, Playing cards, and Life. She sighed as if she were truly at a loss as for what to pick. She snagged the Life game, throwing the lid open and unfolding the board.

When she had settled to board onto the table, and the spinner in it's rightful place, she looked at Griffin and said "Well, let's see if we fail at life."

This day was going to be filled with awful puns.

Griffin laughed with her. It wasn't so bad, she guessed. And Life was a good pick. It meant that if anyone came in and wanted to join that they'd be able to tell them that they couldn't play life. Too mean? Nah. She snatched up the blue card without another word and put in a pink woman-peg, but on the right side of the car. She held it up proudly, and with a thick (and terrible) accent, she said, "Look, I'm British!"

She put her car down on the board and wrapped her sleeping bag tighter around her. "Not to brag or anything, but I'm pretty good at Life." Also meant to be a pun, as she was just ok at the board game. She didn't remember the last time she had played.

"After you." She resumed her terrible accent and gestured to the spinner.

Castille laughed as Griffin became British before her very eyes. She picked up her car and placed her pink peg on the right side of the car as well, and said with an equally bad accent "Hai! I am Japanese!" She pressed her hands together in a praying motion and bowed her head slowly.

Her japanese car was placed next to Griffin's british car and she spun the spinner, it clicked to the number 4. As she drove her car into the college part of the board, she said "I'm the master at life!" Then she made an ugly face as she had to pay for college. She took a coupe loan bills and set them in front of her.

"It is your turn Griffin-san!" She said in short, sharp words.

This was going to be fun.

Griffin spun the clicker, too, and landed a nine. She stuck her tongue out at Castille and chose the non-college route. "SCREW COLLEGE, I LEARN EVERYTHING I NEED TO KNOW FROM THE STREETS." Now she was apparently 'from tha block'. She went through the routine of picking three cards to choose an occupation and salary from.

Teacher. Artist. Rock star.
Artist, obviously.

$30,000, $70,000, and $60,000.
Drats, she didn't draw the 100 grand.
Well then $70,000, duh.

"Your turn, Miss Castille." Back to the British accent. Maybe it was the rain making her feel silly. Cabin fever, she had it.

"Aw man, I love being the artist." She said, spinning the wheel. At least the 100 grand wasn't taken yet. She spun a seven, and finished college. It was her turn to pick a career!

Police. Salesperson. Teacher.

"Hmmmmm, I do like my options." She said, pondering with her hand on her chin. She picked up the police officer card and said "Alright! Now for my salary...."

$30,000

She groaned, leaning backwards to fall on the ground "Man, where am I a cop? Middle Of Nowhere, Wyoming?" Her voice changed to that of a Southern accent and she went on "Well, not much ts do but chase 'dem kids outta Old Man Fillmore's carrots again. Mmhmmm."

She put her cards in front of her, then looked around "Say, where's Talia? You think on a day like this she'd be in here catching up on her beauty sleep."
