It shined down bright, letting down warm rays onto his soft red fur. The wind was softly flowing through the air and making him sigh softly. It felt nice to relax once in a while, and this was helping him. No one was there to bug him, nothing to cause him to run.
Just nice.. relaxation.
And he was bored, utterly bored.
Kiongozee'Sumu's eyes narrowed as he stared without a real focus. He loved when there was somewhere there for him to annoy, to hunt. Anything. But no. It's been like this for weeks. Except during the times of hunting, he's been bored out of his mind. But perhaps there will be something different today.
Flicking his ears, Kiongozee focused his gaze now, and looked out to see if anything had changed.

Like the rest of the Gatherers, Upholi was having to range farther and farther out from the central pride lands to find food, sacrifices, and other materials. She had left her snake friend, Zo'bwa, who often accompanied her on her hunts, behind in her den. It would be too difficult to carry her over long distances, and even worse if she managed to catch anything and had to drag it back to the feeding grounds. The draught didn't help things; prey left, sacrifices were needed, the gatherers had more trouble getting them; sacrifices were substandard, more sacrifices were needed to make up for the substandard ones . . . a neverending loop. Until the draught broke.
All she wanted today were a few healthy hares; enough to take back for a few decent sacrifices, and hopefully the other gatherers would find food. As she tracked the slight markings and scent trails of the hares, she was shocked to smell another cheetah. They were rare around these lands . . . very rare. She followed, more out of curiosity then anything else, until she saw a red cheetah sunbathing.
Tentatively, she called over to him. "Are you lost?"

Maybe it was meant for him to be alone. That's what he's been thinking for a while. What type of depressing thoughts are those? He rolled his eyes and scolded himself. It wasn't the time to become depressed. No that's for later. Now it's just-- Woah. His eyes widen and he lifted himself up.
Who was that? A Female cheetah just walked by and even -called- out to him. So today was different after all. He smirked, his muzzle twitching as he tries to hold back a snarky comment.
Kiongozee padded towards her and shook his head. "No, I live here. I'm a rouge." He nodded his head at her and looked the female over as he pondered. "You don't look like you're a rogue though. What are you doing out here by yourself?"
He peers out to look around for any other cheetahs, trying to see if any one had followed her. Perhaps she's part of a cheetah only pride he could join.. Ah that was a dream he would love to fulfill.

"Oh. I'm out hunting. For the pride, I'm one of the gatherers. Trying for some hares. Usually we don't go out this far, but with the rains coming slowly, we have to go farther and farther out, even just for sacrifices."
Upholi had met very few other cheetahs during her short life; no family members, no one in her rank in the pride were gatherers; the only cheetah that came to mind, immediately, was a bokor in the pride. He rarely spoke to her, and when he did, it was usually a request to bring back something specific.
"I haven't seen many rogue cheetahs around, though. Did you come to this area recently?"

He blinks at this and nods, with a furrow of his brows. He's noticed that food seems to becoming more scarce around here. He only blames this on the Lions though, they're too greedy for his liking. Those overgrown cats eat more than a bear dose before hibernation. "... I understand, I've been having a tough time finding some prey for myself as well.?
An ear flicked out of agitation but he keeps his attention on the female cheetah. He nodded again, this time to her question. "Yes, I travel every fifth moon, to keep my enemies off my trail. The ones whom follow me at least. Do you come here often to ... 'gather' hares?" Kiongozee was unfamiliar with that word, was exactly does that mean?

Upholi looked alarmed at the mention of enemies, and flattened her ears, but decided against mentioning it. It probably wouldn't be polite. She was quite sure that he could talk about it if he wanted.
"Only when the hunting is bad closer to the pride. I've got to catch some live hares to bring back for sacrifices. That's why we're called gatherers and not hunters. I'm the fastest in the pride so I get given the task of bringing sacrifices back alive a lot." She let a few notes of pride creep into her voice. She might not be a lion, but she was good at what she did.

He blinked at this and raises a brow at her actions. But he ignored this and let that side of the conversation trail away.
But now his brows furrow and he looks curious. "You're the fastest? That sounds wonderful. " He grinned. "I'm sure you're proud of that. You must be the best gatherer in the pride, hm?" She began to interest him more, adn he move close to Upholi to become more acquainted.
It wasn't everyday that you see Cheetah's around here who wouldn't ignore a rogue.

"Well, some of the others are a lot more powerful, and they bring in more meat. I like to think I'm pretty good, though. At least with gathering live animals."
She smiled again at the male. It was nice to talk to another cheetah, one that wasn't scary or intimidating like the bokor or that guard who was always with his leopard brother.
"My name is Upholi by the way. What's yours?"

"Bringing in meat killed, isn't useful for sacrifices. Being careful and sure.. is much better." He tried to give her another compliment, wondering why it seems as if she isn't giving herself enough credit. Perhaps the others in her pride caused her to think this way. He scowls to himself slightly before getting rid of it and grinning again. Red eyes blinking at her as she said her name.
"Kiongozee'Sumu. I know it's long, but you... can call me whatever you like. "He laughs at his horrible attempt at flirting and shakes it off. " Kion is fine with me." Nods at this and tries to pretend he had not said that line earlier.

"Kiongozee? I think I will stick to Kion. It's much easier to say, I think." Her ears perked up a bit at his attempts at flirting, and considered flirting back. She had been flirted with before, but Fon Youn was a Poupe and kind of had a reputation for flirting with everyone, and the cheetah and leopard brothers were very intimidating, and they scared her a bit, the way they were always together, even if one never said anything. This cheetah seemed nice, though.
"Do you like living here, all alone?"
