It was a cloudy day in the swamp, as if it too was mourning the damage caused by the recent flood. While many were gone away elsewhere to help clean up the mess, Green Sun, well... wasn't. He had a rather comfortable perch on a fallen and rotting tree, and saw no reason to move from it. Death was just another part of Life, he'd tell himself. He saw no reason to grieve over what Nature chose to give him.
His seat overlooked a babbling brook, through which tiny aquatic creatures darted. That! Now that was interesting. The way they moved, the places they'd hide, even the way they mated, it was all a learning experience for him, and there was little he loved more. "Stop that, you," he'd find himself saying every so often to his single companion--a swan, not very different in colour from himself, but certainly of lesser intellect. From time to time it would peck at the water, trying to catch whatever small fish passed him by. His master was, of course, not pleased by this, as every time the silly bird disturbed the tiny ecosystem, it would send every living creature off to hide for an annoyingly long amount of time. That simply would not do.

Peregrine was spending this day just like every other day. Walking around the swamp, offering his particular skill set to any kimeti that was interested. The buck felt in a bad mood today, his home was just ravaged by gallon after gallon of water. However Peregrine was lucky that he had given up a permanent residence long ago, and thus had lost nothing. At the corner of his vision, Peregrine noticed a peculiar looking kimeti. His dark coloring afforded him no protection through camouflage against any agressors. Peregrine looked down at his own colors and laughed; he didn't blend very well either. The neon kimeti seemed extremely invested in what was going on in the brook below him. That's my kind of Kimeti there, perhaps he would be interested in my services?
Walking over to stand below Green Sun's perch, "Good day my friend," Peregrine would say.

"H'lo," Green Sun said without looking up. His eyes were trained on an interesting pair of tiny tadpoles. They seemed to be playing together, and their dance was so wonderfully entertaining. After several moments of this in-and-out twirling, the pair finally dispersed, and he felt inclined to peer over towards the source of the voice. It was a dark buck that stood before him, the stranger's colours nothing even close to his own. And yet, he felt a pull. "How may I help you?" His voice was flat but not without some tiny tint of interest.

Peregrine listened to his surroundings; the sounds and smells soothed him for reasons that he couldn't understand. The kimeti noticed that Green Sun had not averted his attention from whatever he saw in the water. He looked down too, curious what Green Sun had become so thoroughly enthralled with. The only noticeable event to Peregrine was two fish, swimming closely together. They appeared to be invisibly intertwined, attempting to undo some unseen knot. Peregrine bent his neck down, losing interest in the fish, and taking a long drink of the cool, refreshing water. "I am Peregrine, a simple Purveyor of Insight. Lifting he head, he turned to face Green Sun. "Would you like to know what the future holds for you?" Peregrine smiled in a friendly way, hoping to share his wisdom and perhaps help out a fellow swamp denizen.

Green Sun clicked his teeth. The ripples made by the thirsty stranger would certainly ensure that all life would hide for much longer than when his simple-minded pet meddled. He took a moment of pause and decided not to be cross, since the buck, whom he now knew to be Peregrine, had offered some new interesting thing for him to learn about. He shifted his position to turn slightly more towards his new but perhaps only temporary companion and nodded. "If you think you know, then please, by all means, tell me," he said.

Peregrine smiled kindly, settling down, resting on his legs, eyes now closed. The kimeti allowed himself to be dipped into what he called 'the void'. In reality, the void was just Peregrine's mind in a deep meditative state, where his vivid imagination could be allowed to run free, giving him the impression that he had a 'gift' for fortune telling. Breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly, the kimeti slowly opened his eyes. "I see a single tree in the swamp. The tree stands alone from all others, a lone apple hanging from it's branches. You, cautiously approach the tree, hoping to eat the apple I assume. The apple is hanging low, allowing you to retrieve it... and you take a bite..." Peregrine's voice trailed off, distracted by the appearance of his comrade, Triage, a scoundrel of an eaglehound. Triage strolled casually to his master's side, peering towards Green Sun's familiar with a lustful and dangerous look in his eye. Peregrine noticed Triage's malicious intent and tacitly discouraged any aggressive behavior, after all Green Sun was Peregrine's first willing participant since discovering his 'talent', and he simply wasn't interested in having Triage ruin the opportunity with his bloodlust.
