Drox had wondered where his master was. He woke up that morning in the dark cave which he had called home for so many years. His master was no where in sight, which was not like his master. Every morning his master would order him to do some training as well as recite the Sith code. He wasn't sure if he should go after his master or just wait for his master to return. It could be a test to see how loyal he was, Drox thought. Apprentice should always be fully loyal to their master.

As he was about to stand up and go after his master, he heard a noise outside the cave. Before he could investigate his master came in. In his mouth was a lion, about Drox's age. His master tossed the lion in the corner of the cave. Drox could sense his master's anger at the lion. He couldn't help but wonder who the lion was and why his master was so furious at him.

"Drox, watch our prisoner while I go find something to tie him up with," His master ordered, his voice harsh and intense. Drox nodded his head and went closer to the lion, keeping an eye on him. His master left once he was sure that Drox had the situation covered.

A'lan coughed weakly as consciousness slurred in coming back to him. The way his head was swimming wasn't helping either. The first thing he noticed was how heavy the air was, it was making his breathing slightly labored. But the stark feeling of DARK chilled him to his core. Where was he? How did he get here? .... Who brought him here?

He took a moment to recollect himself and still his emotions.

Taking a deep breath (ignoring the slight wheeze to it) he opened his eyes.

Drox stared at the prisoner in the eyes. There was something about him that was different. Darkness wasn't with this one, he thought as he inched forward. Since being abandoned by his parents, Drox had never had a chance to really to be around others, except for his Master. His Master had forbidden him to seek out others. He wondered if his Master brought the lion in to train him. It was highly unlikely, because his Master always said that there could only be two of them. One Master and one apprentice.

Though if his Master made an exception than he wouldn't be so lonely. That was the worse part of being a Sith, always training. His Master would leave him for days just to train. With another apprentice training wouldn't be as dull.

"Are you here to train?" Drox said in a whisper. He couldn't imagine what his Master would do if he caught himself talking to the lion. His eyes kept looking to the cave entrance just in case his Master did come in.

He froze at the sight of the other lion. He was about his age! But why was he saturated in darkness? Was- Oh. Oh no. Was he a Sith?! He had heard tales, but he never thought he would meet one this soon!

But when he looked into the Sith's eyes, he felt something else.
He had always been good with others, from reading emotions to just being there to listen. His Master had told him that the force had many ways of manifesting in a Jedi. Secretly, he found it ironic that it chose to manifest in him this way; his parents ignored him.

But in this Sith's eyes, he felt that loneliness that was so familiar from those years ago. Someone who didn't feel loved.

So, when he asked about the training, A'lan was startled out of his thoughts.

"Tr-training? I-I don't-" He was cut off by a few harsh coughs.

Drox jumped closer to the lion when he coughed. He did not want this lion to die while on his watch. His Master would not be pleased with him if the new prisoner were to die while he was watching him. "Are you all right? Do you need me to get you something?" He asked worriedly. Quickly he looked around the cave in hopes his Master came back. There was no sign of his Master or anyone else. It was just him and the prisoner.

He had never had to deal with illness. The closest he came was when he, himself was sick. Of course his Master wasn't around to help so h had to try and heal himself. He had discovered that he had no natural healing talents. If the other lion was dying than Drox wouldn't be able to save him.

Drox walked around the lion to see if there was anything else wrong with him. If he had any scraps or cuts he could at least clean the wounds. He had been able to learn how to do that from his training.

A'lan was surprised by the concern. Albeit it most likely held some other agenda behind it, he was still a bit touched. "N-no," he cleared his throat when his voice cracked "I'll be okay, its just the air." I hope. He quickly thought.

Unfortunately, he had a reputation of getting sick a lot back at the Temple.

It didn't used to be like that, he was always a very healthy cub. But while on a diplomatic mission with his Master, he was infected with a highly fatal disease. Where his life was able to be saved in time, he got sick much more easily. The Healers told him that it would stay with him for the rest of his life.

As the Sith circled him, he got a little nervous, even if it didn't feel predatory.
"My name is A'lan, whats yours?"

"Good. If you were to die while I was watching you my Master would have punished me." Drox said with a harsh tone. He stopped circling around the other lion and set himself down across from the lion. "I can't fix the air so you will have to learn to deal with it. If my Master allows it I will take you out for a breath of air."

He hesitated when the lion asked for his name. Why did the prisoner want to know his name? A'lan already told his name, so it should be all right if he told his name. "My birth name is Drox. I haven't received my new name from my Master yet."

He stared at the lion thinking about what he was here for. It was obviously something important. His Master had never trusted him with such an important task like this before. "Are you someone important? Do you know why my Master brought you here?" He hated waiting for information. Since he was young he had always been impatient.

He frowned a little, ignoring the hostel tone of the other lion. "Why would you need a new name? Drox sounds like a nice name to me."

The mention of Drox's Master bringing him here made him stiffen. He glanced at what he assumed was the entrance to the cave they were in. Why had he been brought here? He didn't even remember how he got here. All he remembered was this sudden dark presence, a sharp pain and the next thing he knew he was here talking to Drox.

"I-... I don't know why I'm here. The last thing I remember was camping out with my Master on our way to our next mission."

Drox grew even more irritated with the other lion. Drox was under the impression that everyone had to get their named changed by their Master once they were old or skilled enough. "It is a good name, but it wasn't given to me by my Master. I will not become a true Sith until I have been named." He explained while rolling his eyes.

When A'lan mentioned his master Drox perked up and actually paid him attention. "Your Master must have given you to my Master to be trained!" Drox said excitedly. He was looking forward to having another apprentice join him that was his age! He sat up.

"Maybe you Master gave up on you and needed a much more skilled Master to take over. My Master is very talented. He has taught me everything I know." He puffed up his chest as he said this.

The thought of his master abandoning him made his blood run cold. He knew that he wasn't the best fighter, and that he was always getting layed up. But his master had always been understanding, even helping him through a few rough patches in his recovery period. But could he of- NO! He had to have faith in his master like he had faith in him!
"Nonsense. My master believes in me! He would never abandon me!"

Drox tilted his head at A'lan a bit confused at his reaction. If his Master had given him up to a more skillful Master he wouldn't be upset. Maybe this lion got too attached to his master. That could be why his master gave him up. It was his duty to show the other lion the error of his ways. "It is okay if your master gave up on you. He still probably cares about you. He just wants what is best for you." Drox explained. He couldn't really understand caring about another. His Master had taught him that caring is a weak trait, that hatred was stronger.

A'lan gave the other an odd look. Drox had waved caring off in a way that only one who hadn't been on the receiving end of it could have.
"Doesn't your master care about you? Everyone one needs someone to care about them."

"Of course he doesn't care about me. Caring is for the weak like you and your master." Drox explained. He wished that A'lan could understand the logic behind his words, but it seemed the lion was to dim to understand. "Caring about another clouds your judgement. For example, lets say that I cared about you, more than I care about anyone else. Than you become a jedi, our enemy. I would have to kill you, however because of my feelings for you I might now be able to."

There was no way the other lion could argue with that, Drox thought proudly. He wondered what type of training A'lan had and why his master was so 'soft' compared to his. Were there other ways a sith could be taught? Unlike his Master and him, A'lan didn't seem to have the darkness surrond him. In fact he had a soft, kinder feel to him. As much as he hated to admit it Drox enjoyed the feel of it.

A soft look crossed A'lan's face.
"Is it so weak to know that you are valued by someone and that you can give that feeling to someone else? I believe that it takes a lot of courage to trust someone with this gift. But at the same time, what kind of life is there to live without it?"
Even if this lion was suppose to be his greatest enemy, he couldn't help but feel a strange connection to Drox. He couldn't really describe it, but it was almost like a warm tug toward something familiar.

Drox was about to argue back (in a childish way), when he heard someone approaching the entrance. Instinctively he stood infront of A'lan, making sure if it was an attacker that the prisoner would not be harmed. To his relief it was his Master who walked into the cave, caring in his mouth a rope. His Master dropped the rope at Drox's feet before giving A'lan a scowl.

"Drox tie one end around his neck." he ordered, staring cruelly at the young lions.

Immediately, not wanting to anger his Master, he slipped the rope around A'lan's neck and tied it tight enough so it wouldn't come off easily, but enough so he could breath. "Master, what is A'lan here for?" he spoke meekly, hoping the question wouldn't annoy his Master.

"I want another apprentice, one who can tell me all the secrets of the Jedi." He said slyly, as he picked up the other end of the rope and tied it around Drox's neck. Unlike Drox he wasn't careful when he tightened it. For a moment Drox couldn't breath, making his Master let out a laugh. Than he loosened it so Drox could breath. "You will stay with our prisoner Drox. You will take him hunting and patrolling. Do not let him escape, because if you do I will kill both of you."

He looked at both of the young lions in the eyes before leaving again.
