Personalities: In life, Crossbones was a young and none-too talented pirate. What he lacked in finesse, however, he made up for with a cut-throat attitude and an appreciation for the perks of the job (ie, piles and piles of gold). Aspiring to be the Captain of his own ship, he died as a low-ranked crew member. In death, he was a properly vengeful, angsty, teenage ghost pirate.
As a sword, he's still pretty angry. He remembers nothing of his life as a pirate, and next to nothing of his unlife as a pirate, but running on angry twice-removed just leaves him with a lot of sore feelings and no reason he can place for having them. All of his advice is bad. At least he and Harrison have about the same scruples (next to none), although Crossbones is more concerned with plunder than the average weapon.
Harrison might seem like dumb muscle, but he has a shrewd streak and hates to lose. More bark than bite, and more rat than attack dog. The kind of guy that talks big going into a bar fight, but once things kick into high gear, he's gone. His fighting style, when fighting, consists mainly of sucker punches, backstabbing, and helping kick guys that are already down. He likes pink and doesn't like shirts. Answers to Harrison or Hughes, but never Harry. If he's got anything really going for him, it's confidence, and a complete lack of shame.
The two working together is less a Mulder and Scully checks and balances system, and more Crabbe and Goyle. Life has given them a lot of lemons, and they're a pile of growing pains and thwarted ambition.
Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter? Fired from his job as a police officer and with his career options veering quickly towards drug dealer, Harrison was all too happy for the opportunity to join the fight against the forces of Darkness. He's less driven by a personal dislike for evil, and more driven by any justified excuse to stab things.
