 Well now, if this wasn't all ridiculous. First Corinth...then Apollo...and now Balios had wandered off too?
Adonai was pretty confident that Balios had no intentions of joining the warrior pack. He was, as he had told Galahad, fairly certain that Balios's motive had been to try and talk some sense into Corinth. But that didn't matter, because if the pup (Adonai insisted on thinking of him as a pup although he had grown into a rather handsome young man over the winter) stumbled across the wrong wolf, he would be so much shredded meat.
He hadn't chased after him himself -- he know quite well that if he was caught skulking around the boundaries that Varia would somehow find him and wear his tail for a hat -- but he had wanted to. He'd left it up to Galahad to straighten that mess out. He was the new alpha, after all. Let him deal with this messy alliance business.
He thought it prudent to have a chat with Derecho, though. Knowing the male's temper, it seemed all-too-likely that he might run headlong into danger himself. If Terreis was any indication, Derecho and Adonai shared one personality trait in common: a unique talent for pissing people off.
So with that in mind, he made a wide arc away from the border he had been patrolling and set off at an easy lope to track down his would-be son-in-law.

 Derecho was in a fine fit of temper this morning, not only had Corinth completely disregarded his orders and left anyways but Apollo had apparently been lured away by one of those wretched sisters as well. Granted he hadn't had a chance to speak with Apollo yet but he'd figured out enough from the rumors floating around to make a good guess at how things had gone down. Terreis of course would be pleased by the whole thing - but Derecho had hoped that his sons would have enough sense to stay here in YMCA where life was good....or if they insisted in wandering off at least not wandering into the path of slave life. It was horrible to think about - his children being treated like drudges - and a part of him, a part that was growing larger by the hour was considering referendum, he'd get himself a good group of angry wolves and go down there and drag his sons back where they belonged. Huffing in thought he continued to gnaw on a deer's leg bone the way he wished he could gnaw on some of those sisters necks.

"I'm guessing by your expression that you've heard the news?" Adonai asked, with a slight smile -- trying to keep the tone light-hearted until he could gauge just how angry the other wolf was.
He glanced over him, saw the intensity with which he was gnawing at the bone, and his smile caught a wry edge.
"I told Galahad about it. He's off to chat with his lady and do some sort of diplomacy business. Better him than me, I suppose."
He did believe that, now. Most of his idle jealousy of the new alpha had dissipated, replaced with relief at his own general lack of responsibility. Besides, he reminded himself, he didn't need to aspire for lovely untouchables like Chivosi. He had a nice little lady all to himself out in the woods.
"Anyway. Thought I'd check in and see how you were holding up. I'm guessing your mate isn't offering the most sympathetic ear."

'Ha!' Derecho chortled in a bitter tone "Sympathetic ear? She's pleased as a bear robbing honey from the bees about it all" Of course she would be - two of her children had gone off to take their 'proper place' in the world, never mind that Derecho was fairly sure Corinth had done so only to gain some of her affection. Poor boy just idn't realize that now that he was a true slave and stuck in the northern pack...that he would never see any such affection.
Standing up Derecho kicked the deer bone under a bush with a hind leg before pacing in front of the other wolf "Apollo...Apollo I can somewhat understand, at least he did it for love and by all accounts managed to negotiate himself a fairly good deal - he can come and go as he pleases between the two packs..but Corinth...by the gods Corinth! That boy went and signed away hi entire life..I have half a mind to go down there and drag him back myself!"

"Not a good idea," he said, lightly -- he knew Derecho probably had the sense not to do anything, though. He hesitated a moment, not sure if it was the right thing to say, and then plunged forward. "Balios...has turned up missing, as well. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing he went to try and talk sense into Corinth."
He knew that Balios had always favored the chubby youngster.
"But, anyway. Like I said -- Chivosi will work it out. I suspect they'll be more apt to talk to her."
Stupid females. Stupid warrior bitches. How had he ever even gotten tangled up in such a mess?

Derecho snorted slightly - like that Queen in the north would ever dare lay a bit of harm on him! It would cause more then a bit of friction between the two packs if she did, and anyways Derecho didn't think that Pen was that sort of wolf. some of the others though..some of the others might not be so willing to listen to sense if half the stories and rumors he'd overheard were true. By all accounts one of the worst of the bunch was Adonai's own daughter. "I expect your right..Balios will be back, I don't think he'd leave the pack"
At least he hoped not - Derecho didn't think he could stand it if any more of his sons decided to up and become a slave..where was their sense of dignity? Their self worth? Hadn't he raised them better then that? He supposed not. Well there was one way to deal with this of course...and Terreis wouldn't like it. Not at all. Despite Adonai's words that his mother would find a way to work it out Derecho was still torn and since Adonai was presently the only one around to talk about it with Derecho decided to use him as a sounding board and get his opinion. "your daughter wants more pups - doubtless so that she might have a daughter since I failed so epicly in providing her with them the first time around.....but I don't know if I can stand the thought of having more and watching them grow up and make decisions such as this.."
