*AHEMblarargh*

I'm alive......hi.

So, with the EOG video released and the BTW album on the loose, do you notice a loss of momentum in Gaga? Granted, she's been working to the bone but even so, can we just observe the fact that she is losing her touch a tad bit at least?
Hey, it happens, I'm not saying "WTF I HATE GAGA SHE SUXXXX NOW!" nor do I feel "betrayed" because Gaga produced something that *GASP* I don't like.

BUT

It's not good for her to create hype then rush s**t, she has made rather terrible decisions over the past couple months. I don't even want to get into the whole Target scandal because apparently target's leaders are a bunch of "gay haters".
EOG video was a mess in terms of the production and that's clear in the end result. She's pulling out singles are terrible moments. Judas is currently doing well in the charts now finally but that could've been accomplished sooner had she just focused on it rather then panic and release Edge of Glory. She just finished the Monster Ball and is already planning the BTW tour.

I'm worried now that this overload is just killing her career slowly not too mention her health. I seriously think she is going to be on the brink of losing it soon. Maybe I'm just being dramatic but she's changed A LOT since 2008 (in good and bad ways),she sang "I pray the fame won't take my life" and...well...it seems like she is going to meet that fate(in the sense of her career but I'm not gonna sit here and say her life isn't at stake to some degree)

But who knows, maybe I'm just rambling aimlessly. She is still producing kick a** tunes but she is starting to lose what attracted so many to her in the first place. It would be a terrible shame to see the flame that inspired so many to go out.

I agree. While I honestly was very excited for the release of the album, if it were a case where we would have gotten a generally better album in addition to her health and well-being recovering, I would be fine with it. I've stated before here in the guild that it'd be well worth it if she took a vacation just to get herself rested. Very few artists are this dedicated to their fans. If anything she's more than earned a vacation.

Now, whenever I'm able to get around to it I will put out a review on the album and my own personal thoughts on it. Generally, it's listenable and some of the songs are great, but they're really just nothing special or pushing the envelope in terms of sound. Not to mention there's a god awful amount of Fruity Loops samples in the songs, which makes anyone who's ever downloaded any free music software and played with it for more than thirty seconds will think "Oh god, she's using the same s**t that idiots on the same level as Ark Music Factory use."

The Fame Monster was brilliant and is to this day my favorite based on how thought-out and diverse it is as an album. It has a little bit of everything while not completely sounding like a different artist for each song. She worked well, she put so much of her heart and soul into it and it shined through. The Fame was a little more uniform but it was very appropriate and stuck to the subject matter at hand. Now with Born This Way you'd expect there to be a bit more depth given the spirituality and political drive in some of the songs, but it's still the same vacuous pop. Am I the only one wishing she would have just stuck to doing "You And I" the way she did it live months beforehand?

But yes, getting back on topic it wasn't a bad album but it wasn't as earth-shattering and unforgettable as promised. Some of the songs were fantastic, and some were just downright boring and cheesy. The album was supposed to be for all of us, but it feels like it was 50% gays, 10% minorities, and the rest is "zomg FASHUUUNNN". ALL OF US were born this way. She's giving a shout to the gays and a whisper for everyone else, and even the gays are now finding it patronizing.

HEWWWWOOOO heart zzzZzzzzzZ

somewhat agree/disagree/ shemahskd
at the same time, i feel like it's most of the fan's fault as well. at this stage, gaga not only has so much more fans, but more... "crazy" fans as well. much more compared to her "the fame/monster" days. perhaps gaga feels a need to "spoil" these monsters... which can never end well.
alsooo
I think her "btw" era was used by her to get more involved on politics (gay rights/marriage, etc), thus she spent less focus on her music whichhhh i also do not think was the best choice.

anybody think her voice... "changed" since her fame days? i do understand that voices mature, but her voice seems tired sad thus deeper?
i think EVERYONE agrees she should rest (even interviews constantly ask)....

on the brighter side, atleast she's "confirmed" to be a more powerful figure than before. during her fame days, more people believed she would "disappear" within a year, yet she's still here. with even more attention may it be good or bad

plus, even if this may be a "low point" in gaga's career, it'll just make her "high point" even better.

i think the next thing that will "save" her (if she is falling) is an all out acoustic/raw album, including songs such as:
honest eyes, captivated, electric kiss, living on the radio, btw acapella, raw you and i / living on the radio, fever, etcc and maybe some older repeats (acoustic pokerface, paparazzi, etc)

she hasn't been in mainstream for a long time at all. it shouldn't be expected that she'll make "earth shattering" records.... she's still just starting.... thus........ her "overly optimistic" promotions may hurt?

i'm obviously not much of a writer- look how unorganized and choppy my sentences/paragraphs are compared to anyone's in the guild..
like always, just blabbin my thoughts and always ambiguous

i will be gaga-clueless for a week now after this final post gbyee.

p.s.: gaga's message is definitely more meaningful/in depth than it was during the fame. You can tell she's not only trying to give us music, but send us a message as well. her "fame" interviews were more silly and fun, but now she's definitely more open and serious on what she intends to use her "fame" on

The very thing that attracted me to her is slowly becoming a double-edged sword - that this lady doesn't give a f**k about what people think.

I always loved her for that and incorporated that thought into my head every time she did a performance where she went crazy. Now, in interviews, she talks about not wanting "new fans" and not basing her music off of any "reactionary" feedback? Yeah, it's art, but don't you wanna make better/different music off the reactions of your fans?

My point is .. it feels as if the label "new fans" means people like me, despite the fact that I'm a very old fan. It feels like there are the Little Monsters, and then there is me - I don't consider myself a social misfit, I am not gay, I don't give too much value into fashion .. and I'm not a female(Scheibe, "if you're a strong female, you don't need permission"). I just love her for other fundamental attributes she represents. It feels like she's not communicating to me anymore.

As for all the rushing .. I'm not sure. She just seems to be her own hype-machine now and is overzealous about everything. I don't think she truly understands that even one tweet from her can be considered enormous hype, especially when she says each video will be basically better than her last, or this album will be the best ever, etc.

I'm on a constant basis of praising her that I forgot how it felt to just be real for a second. After watching a commencement speech like Conan O'Brien's to Dartmouth college, I get tired of Gaga's cliches about acceptance and believing you're a superstar. The only thing I've latched onto ever since her BTW era was that living in half-fantasy, half-reality makes everything better. Maybe I've fantasized too much about Gaga and her work as of late.

As for a solution that I would like to suggest to her if I ever had a chance .. it would be to disappear for a bit and come back with material that no one really knows too much about. Just like the old days how artists used to do it. She's overexposed.

Wow, your rant was nothing compared to mine, Sam. Sorry for the ranting, and the negativity on Gaga, especially after all the hard work she puts in for us. I just had to let it out after reading these posts.

To Miss Fiendette: I generally have to agree with your review of the BTW album. Some really good songs on there but it's generally not worthy of the hype it received.

To Ninjaboyjeff: Don't get too bent out of shape about it, we want members to be entitled to their opinions granted they stay mature about it. Gaga can't please everyone but that doesn't mean we can't express disappointment where it's due.

Understood. The apologies are just a symbol of the fact that I still love Gaga.

agreed. especially the bolded part.

i feel like she praises her gay fans more than the rest of her fans.
i'd hate to sound mean but i feel like the whole album is IT DON'T MATTER IF YOU'RE GAY. LOVE YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU AREEEE.
and for your nationality too, i guess. gonk

To be fair, a lot of the more "articulate" users are college students (myself included). If you're in high school or younger you'll more than likely get better as you progress in life, and if you're currently in college then perhaps you're just more of a concrete mind than an abstract one. 3nodding

Well, I have to agree/disagree with you guys kind of.

Well yes, I think this album is for one majority of minorities, I think Lady Gaga released this album for herself. Writing is a really, REALLY selfish art, and when you stop writing for yourself, you feel weird, ya know?

I think she partway wrote this album to get involved with the world, while she partway wrote it for herself. Yes, she did write this to be a political album/religious views and all that stuff. I just think that she needed to write for herself. Think about it. Most of the songs are about her, Marry The Night, AMBJ, Highway Unicorn, Bloody Mary, and others are written for relationships, Fashion of His Love, You and I, Judas, Edge of Glory. From what I've read, the only song written about her fans was Bad Kids.

I just think that, we as fans, can and are allowed to look into the message, but as music lovers, we must enjoy the music.

I can say by my opinion, this is better than the Fame and maybe the Fame Monster.

But everyone, remember, there is a reason why Stefani Germanotta didn't get on the radio.

The people controlling the radio didn't like it.

People (idiots) die for fodder. No one wants Wonderful on the radio. Because no one wants us to grow a brain about music. The higher-ups control us and brainwash us.

I think if people like us controlled the stations, we'd get more ballads, more stuff that we would want.

I do think Gaga needs a vaca, and maybe more insight on timing, but I have to say, I still love the woman and her music.

Good point, I understand where you're coming from. It's just that people have a hard time remembering or focusing on the viewpoint of the artist himself/herself. Gaga repeats in interviews over and over that the album was for her fans, but I don't think people understand what she really means and how she really goes about writing the material. Weird thought, but a lot of Little Monsters have psychologically turned Gaga into their slave, yes?

Yup, I feel that. She needs to calm down. Her fans love her, and if she takes a week or two down time, I don't think anyone would flip.

But understand this, the music is beautiful, the music industry is not. She has managers, security, etc etc telling her way to do, stay put, this has to be done by, etc etc, blah blah blah. This is the career she chose. But I too, hope she slows down. Takes a breather. Have some awesome sex. Lay down and reflect, do some yoga, etc etc...
