Hello Amazing Camp Participants!

Below you will find Camp Solo/RP prompts. A few prompts will be posted throughout camp. They are meant to give you a general idea of what is going on, and also provide you with a base to build rps or write solos. These are entirely optional.

If you want to use a prompt, by all means go right ahead! You may respond to ANY piece of information provided, whether it be one single sentence or paragraph which inspires you! (Though please try to refrain from any plot-breaky actions, such as seeing one of these powered negas draining energy, unless you want to be run out of camp bounds! Or you are a civilian and don't understand/can be convinced it is a dream.) You may post your solo in this thread, your journal, or a new thread! Whatever floats your boat. Prompts will be posted in a shout, so please keep an eye out for them!

Camp Prompt #1

The first night of Camp was uneventful. Staff, exhausted from setting up, were tired. The first evening was relatively quiet. Everyone was still adjusting to their new environment and the people in it. Children went to bed, after some coaxing, and woke up the next day feeling fresh and energetic!

Throughout the day though, little by little, their energy began to drop. By dinner time, roughly one quarter of the kids were yawning and ready for an early night sleep. Perhaps it was all the exciting things they had been doing! The kids who were feeling so drowsy had been playing sports nearly all day. That had to be it. Certainly, no one expected anything remotely sinister.

On the 2nd night, almost all of the camp was soundly sleeping, though they were not safe in their beds. Creeping from cabin to cabin were Negaverse agents. In the middle of the night, they snuck into each cabin to drain a small amount of energy from the unsuspecting campers. The campers tossed and turned, whining in their sleep. Must be bad dreams. When it was time to wake up, many refused to acknowledge it was morning. Others began to wander the camp, feeling a bit like a zombie, until their stomachs were full from a sugary breakfast.

Little Brothers...

He was moving slower than usual, and it was bothering him. Even with his cup of coffee during breakfast, it still wasn’t enough to have him up and about like he wanted to be. He even did something he didn’t usually do and got two cups of coffee, but that wasn’t really helping, either.

The past two mornings had been spent eating breakfast with Paris… who wasn’t looking all that great, either. She told him she was fine, but she looked as though she’d hardly gotten any sleep, too. It was just going to be a long day for everyone, it seemed.

Christopher yawned as he made his way out of the mess hall, second cup of coffee in one hand, and his clipboard in the other, checking the schedule for the day’s activities. He and Blake were supposed to be setting up the field for the children to take turns playing baseball.

He didn’t know where Blake ran off to, though. He sure seemed much more chipper than the rest of them… His girlfriend, too. Maybe they were having energy drinks along with coffee, or maybe his bed was just bad for his back, and therefore he couldn't get a good night’s sleep? The camp didn’t exactly have the best beds, anyway. They all seemed cheap and old, even in the much nicer senior counselor cabin.

Either way, it was annoying.

At least the day was nice. That was always good.

Chris paused by the stairs leading down from the building, looking up and over the grassy lawn and past the flag pole — the American flag flying high up on its pole, while a smaller flag for the camp flew beneath — and down towards the lake. Some of the counselors were already getting ready for the water activities as the campers went about, finishing up their breakfasts. It was going to be a long day and Chris wished that he’d had a better night’s sleep. Maybe tonight he would just go to bed earlier?

“Peter, what are you doing?” he asked with a frown, trying not to seem too annoyed or exasperated, seeing his brother laying in the grass under the flagpole, a piece of toast in his hand, lifted away from the ground.

“Watching grass grow,” was the muffled response he got back, which resulted in a small sputter and frown.

“What’s your first activity?” Chris tried, staying where he was at the top of the stairs. No, he hadn’t expected his brother to show up at camp, but the least he could do was make sure he was getting to where he needed to go.

“No idea.”

Chris sighed, glancing down at his clipboard again. In the past two years he had taken care of the campers as a junior counselor, so now that he was a senior with more of a floater’s responsibility… he sometimes didn’t know what to do with himself.

“Peter, get up off the ground, finish your breakfast, and go find your counselor. And brush your teeth,” he added, not wanting him to start bad dental habits at a young age.

“You’re not my mom,” the brat replied and Chris lifted a hand to rub at his face.

He needed a nap already…

Jerkface Older Brothers...

He hated camp. Or rather he hated this camp. Other camps were fine because they were always within range of some kind of cell phone tower or internet station or something. He liked camping with his Cub Scout Troop a lot better than this nonsense. Seriously… no internet?? These people were just… barbarians…

Peter had spent most of the day yesterday looking for a spot around the camp with internet, but to no avail. He’d even wrapped his phone up in a couple plastic ziplock bags that his mother had packed his shampoo in so he could go out onto the lake when they were canoeing and check for a signal there. But nothing.

He was so bored… Not even the prospect of a water fight or playing baseball could seem to cheer him up. He’s seen a really awesome bug earlier and he had no idea what it was, so, as he usually did, he pulled out his phone so he could look it up and add it to the list of bugs he’d seen… But with no internet service, he couldn’t find out what it was!! All he could do was take a picture of it so he could find out later. In two weeks. Two, long, miserable, internet-less weeks…

He was going to die…

Die of boredom…

Peter stepped out onto the deck outside the mess hall, frowning at the good-for-nothing lake with its good-for-nothing lack of internet. He had a piece of toast in his hand, because despite feeling as though he didn’t get any sleep, he was too restless to just sit around inside and wait for everyone else to eat. His scowl moved from the lake to the flag pole, watching as the flag waved in what little breeze blew past.

Suddenly, he had a great idea and he hopped down the steps, making his way over to the tall metal pole. It looked high enough… Maybe it was high enough for him to get reception from…? He’d seen in a movie how some awesome person had climbed to the top of a pole by using some rope… and some other show where kids were lifted up by their boxers… Yeah, he wasn’t going to do that, but he did want to at least try to climb it.

Sticking the piece of toast in his mouth, Peter grasped onto the pole, pulling himself up a little, but slipping down because of the butter that had gotten on his hand from holding the toast… Ugh…

He dropped back to the ground, taking a few steps back and just… flopping back onto the grass. He hated his life…

“Peter, what are you doing?”

Oh great. Now Mr. Goody-Goody Two Shoes was going to nag at him to brush his teeth or something. And he’d been so glad when he’d moved out of the house.

“Watching grass grow,” Peter replied, rolling his eyes, although it went unseen since his back was to where his brother’s voice was coming from. Yeah, right… As bored as he was, he wasn’t desperate enough to sit and watch grass. Maybe the stuff in the grass, but not the grass itself.

“What’s your first activity?”

Yeah, like he knew… He didn’t keep track of what was going on. He just followed people around, checking his phone every so often to see if there was any reception. Once he thought he had one bar, but then it disappeared…

“No idea,” he grumbled, wishing he would just be left alone to his boredom without being told to do things he didn’t want to do.

“Peter, get up off the ground, finish your breakfast, and go find your counselor. And brush your teeth.”

Aha! That’s what he’d been waiting for! Of course Chris would tell him to do that. What a lameface.

“You’re not my mom,” Peter called over his shoulder, pushing himself up from the ground so he could wander off, making sure his brother saw that he was going in the opposite direction of his cabin. Take that, killjoy.

As if the camp didn’t kill all the joy he had, already.

Camp sucked.

Camp Day 1.

Istas hadn’t been interested in the sports. However, she was interested in some of the arts and crafts that seemed to be suggested and she spent her time outside playing mostly running around and occasionally playing by the water. The fact the camp had all this fun stuff planned out was awesome. She loved roasting marshmallows last night, she even snuck some back to ********* happily. She knew the cat would love these. Having placed them into a Ziploc bag, she had secretly slipped them into her backpack.

The next day Istas had gone directly to the flower pressing and painting and sketching. Istas had pondered, dance but she ended up going to the improve activities. She giggled camp was so much fun. In her free time she was coloring in some of the books she brought over, and finding others to play with. She’d seen some people catching bugs she was curious with those but she never did actually attempt to catch any. She just watched curiously, and hummed occasionally sneaking food to ********* and making sure Ridley was having fun as well.

The child frowned, though eventually the lack of TV and internet seemed to drill in around the last free time of the day. She couldn’t find much she wanted to do and sat there with a sigh looking at her paper bags, eventually pausing wondering if she hadn’t brought more of them. Oh well, she started cutting out construction paper and making bag puppets. Rolling out yarn for hair and looking at the bags she had made with a pause and pondering what she should do next. They needed a box. She looked around before going to the mess hall and digging around for a large enough boxes eventually asking staff if she could borrow a big box with a square cut into the side of it. She explained what she wanted to do to one of the members and they gladly helped her. So after she managed to get the box she was carrying it, the box was sitting on her head. As she walked looking out the side that had been cut out for the screen, It was just enough to be able to see a pair of butter yellow eyes, a small face and a mass of curls. Most of the rest of her was hidden by the box. She could make it look like a little TV on a table.

She hummed as she sat the box down in the cabin and crawled out from the back. She then decorated it so it looked like a TV sitting on a table beside a fish bowl, and then she grabbed the paper bag she was now sitting in the box watching for the other girls to come in. She had a flash light as well that looked more like a lantern that threw out enough light to illuminate the puppets and everything else inside the box as well. The child looked proud of what she’d done.

Camp Begins — Camp Prompt # 1

The first day at Camp Larkspur had been very exciting for the ten year old. Although it had started off very bumpy when they first arrived, after everything had been settled and things had calmed down the child was able to relax. Introduction had been important and Ainsley had made sure to make those to the other girls in the cabin immediately, which hadn't taken much work since she had already been familiar with Istas and Ridley from the grade three class at school, but she'd been able to meet a new girl named Jenna who also expressed a desire in seeing a bigger animal. Maybe a big cat? Ainsley could dream but the child knew the only large cat she wanted to see was Big Kitty.

The tour of the camp had been interesting but the part she looked forward to the most was the Camp Fire Marshmallow Roast with Sam and the Sing-a-long. Sam had promised to roast her marshmallows, and in return she did enough singing for the both of them. It was the perfect snack and activity to tire out the children on the first day and send everyone to bed without much of an issue, at least it did for Ainsley. She fell asleep without even having a chance to read any of Redwall, sleeping without a sound.

On the second day at camp the child woke up full of energy as soon as the sight of dawn had pushed its way into the windows of the cabin. She'd barely been able to hold in her excitement as she quietly exited the cabin and then released it as she pranced her way down to the mess hall for breakfast. She wasn't tempted by their sugary treats, and instead she found the healthiest thing on the menu and had that with a glass of orange juice.

After breakfast and into the afternoon the child had snunk into Improv Lessons, and then took a peek into the Dance. She didn't take part but there was a small smile lingering on her face as she thought about December and her time with Gwenliana. Was Gwenliana here, dancing her way around all the children with her smile lit on her face, waving towards Ainsley to come join her? She certainly was, Ainsley couldn't see her but she felt like Gwenliana had snuck her way out of the freezer at home and latched onto her heart, following her to this very spot. The memories had been pleasant but tough and she found herself content watching and dancing by herself under the trees, feeling the cold touch of Gwenliana on her hand as she held it up into the sky. Small tears in the corner of her eyes went unnoticed as the child danced clumsily with all her heart.

As the day ended and the night began to creep into the sky Ainsley settled down in one of the bean bag chairs, cozy and eyes locked onto her book Redwall. She had gotten quite a few chapters in and before she knew it, it was already time for lights out. Hesitantly, she'd gone into bed and while staring up into the ceiling, she soon fell asleep with Octavian Oswald by her side. That night Ainsley had slept peacefully, at least until the creepers had crept creepily into the cabins. The creepers did a good job creeping creepily as they crept around the cabin, not managing to wake up the child that was sleeping peacefully in the single bed nearest to the door. She might have been their first target as they tested those waters. She had tossed, and turned but it wasn't the dreams that had caused her to do so. It was like she was begging to wake up, but her body unwilling to do so as her energy was slowly drawn from her.

She did wake up, many hours later after the sun had been in the sky for several hours. She was tired, and hadn't wanted to wake up but with Octavian Oswald unusually on top of her chest as if he had been trying to protect her, she forced her feet over the side of the bed, dragging them along with her clothes for the day. What a shameful sight it was for the senshi of sleep to be so tired! With as much haste as the child could foreigh, she made her way to the mess hall with Octavian Oswald in tow and found herself some breakfast. The sugary treats looked awfully tempting but the child managed to stay away from them, eating breakfast once again with a glass of cranberry juice. Her eyes couldn't help but linger towards the pancakes of another camper at the table across from her.

"Mmm," she said. They looked so good!

Did Octavian Oswald think so too? She looked around for him on the table but she couldn't find him there. Where had he gone? She hadn't noticed but he had been brushed off the table and on the floor in the direction of the camper with the pancakes. She'd finally found him and with more energy in her she found herself giggling. He definitely thought so! She'd given him a little tap on the nose and picked him back up into her arms. No pancakes for him! At least her energy seemed to have returned, readying her for the new day.

Early to Bed, Early to Rise

Something about camp was messing with his sleep.

Paris wouldn’t really call himself a morning person, but he was usually capable of rolling out of bed at six or seven o’clock in the morning -- after stumbling in from a party or club only hours earlier -- and lacing up his shoes to fulfill his recently acquired habit of going for a morning jog, and then going about the rest of his day without so much as a yawn. With how much he stayed out of the house, he was pretty sure he’d managed to condition himself to function on as little sleep as possible.

But something about being at camp was changing that, and he wasn’t sure what it was.

He chalked it up to always having something to do. He’d never been responsible for such a large amount of children before, and while he thought he was doing pretty good keeping them in line, there were always going to be incidents whenever kids were involved. Someone was going to get hurt, someone was going to do something stupid enough to require a lecture from an authority figure, and someone was going to drag someone else into a fight. He’d been expecting all that. What he hadn’t been expecting was for it to be so exhausting.

It wasn’t as if he were staying up very late – long enough to make sure all the kids were safely in their beds, but after that and a quick “good night” to Chris, he was usually in his own bed and out in a matter of minutes. He supposed the bed itself could be giving him problems without him realizing it. He and Lily had their own cabin, yes, but it was old and more run down than the others, and only a step above uncomfortable. He hadn’t complained about it only because he was relieved to have a place to sleep, and it wasn’t as if he’d never slept in such poor conditions. He’d passed out in places even less pleasant than this during his many nights out on the town and, really, sleeping in the back seat of Chris’s car would have been far worse.

He went over his schedule in an attempt to figure out if anything he was doing was causing the sudden lack of energy. He woke up at 6:30, jogged along some of the paths for about half an hour, and was in the shower by 7. Then it was time for hair and make-up, which he always made sure to spend a little extra time on nowadays, just so he’d look good for Chris (he hadn’t missed any of Chris’s glances toward some of the other girls – one girl in particular – and Paris refused to lose his new means of cash and a good time when Chris had been the one to ask him along in the first place). By 8:30, he was in the mess hall for a quick breakfast of toast and assorted fruit. Then it was a day full of crafts, lessons and sports, interrupted only by lunch at noon and dinner at 6.

After that, things began to wind down, and Paris spent most of the evening by the camp fire listening to Chris play the guitar and making sure the kids didn’t get too close to the flames as they told ghost stories and had sing-alongs and roasted marshmallows. When 10 o’clock rolled around, the kids who hadn’t gone to bed already trudged back to their cabins, and after cleaning up a bit Paris and the other counselors followed their example. The camp was nearly silent by 11 pm. If it wasn’t, Paris didn’t hear a thing, so deeply lost to dreams that he could have slept through just about anything.

Maybe it was the excitement of the day. Maybe it was the result of all these new experiences he was having, one after another in such a short period of time. Maybe it really was the kids, sucking the energy right out of him until he had nothing left to give. If that was the case, he began to wonder if this was how his mother had felt before she left.

He shook that thought from his mind quickly. That was dangerous territory he didn’t have the time or the energy to explore.

He knew one thing and one thing only: camp sure was exhausting.

The first night proved hard to get Ridley to finally go to sleep. By the cover of night and even after last rounds were made by the senior counselors. The orange haired girl was under her covers trying to find some way to sync the not-as-bad-as-she-thought senshi phone to her iphone for any sense of a signal out. She wasn't as internet dependent as some of the other children in the camp, but knowing that something got out from somewhere was worth a try.

It wasn't until a groggily thrown pillow hit her in the head that it was time to go to sleep, and that she was bothering her cabin mates with the soft glow of two cellphones. Bunking with several other girls had slipped her mind.

The next morning, she had all intensive purposes to simply play outside the whole time and emerse herself in the sporting activities. She had gotten a few in - as well as decking Billy with a handball in a little vengeance for Istas - but Istas had insisted she join her for a few of the arts and crafts. They were .. kind of fun but pressing flowers really wasn't - even though she lied to Istas that the activity was a total blast. At least there was ********* feeding come lunch time, and the two girls managed to sneak a decent portion to the manx when they managed to get away from their peers.

Ridley fell into the small collection that were a little warn by dinner time, a crowning achievement for the queen of energy. Perhaps it was all the fresh air, the sun that beat down and the massive amounts of sports she had gotten in before and after her painting with Istas - and managing to break another camper's nose on accident. Not many would be able to tell there was something lacking in the child, perhaps now that she was at what would be deemed normal levels... but there was something a little off. Not that she was yawning up a storm or having a hard time staying awake as she sat at the table for dinner. But, she was asleep sooner than usual.

And she woke up the next morning, actually a little groggy and not way earlier than the other girls. It was still early, but not enough time for her to do the morning rounds she had the previous morning, signing loudly to the other girls in a merry way about how awesome camp was. Nope, it was like.. she had normal energy. Enough to jump from her bunk again, but enough to chirp little greetings to her cabin mates as they all got up and went to breakfast.

But, at least breakfast helped, a full stomach was enough to rejuvenate the orange haired girl by bounds and leaps, even if she saved a good portion of it for the cat that was more likely waiting in the woods.

Lily groaned at the sun which danced across her face waking to greet the morning light with a scowl. She looked around feeling slightly irritable and a bit confused. She wasn't one to sleep, even being a senshi didn't often keep her in bed late. That she had slept in was a bit surprising even if it hadn't been too long. Rolling over she glanced to Paris' bed to see he was already up and gone before rolling back over and sitting up.

She frowned at how the world seemed to be in slow motion as she went about showering, getting dresses, and pulling her hair back, which was out of character for her, but was becoming a common re-occurrence for her in the past couple months. In what was a relative short time, but felt as though it was forever she was off to breakfast, happy to down a banana and some granola versus the sugary sweet substances which appeared abundant.

A quick hello, to all the familiar faces and she was off. There were events to be started and duties to attend to. She was not at all looking forward to any sporting event, but crafts, yes she could do crafts.

Lily only found during the day the the opposite proved to the true. She much preferred her own sweat and a little dirt to glue in her hair, sitting in wet macaroni art, finger painting on her the back of her shirt. She was extremely grateful to get out of the craft with the younger kids. She was usually good with kids, but not all the camp kids seemed to agree. She hoped for a better day in the coming days.

The best part of the day by far had been roasting marshmallows and singing campfire songs. Lily loved to sing and their was even music to sing to, so of course she sung. She tried her very best to remember every camp song she'd sung as a camper so very long ago. She would always love this part of camp even if she was dead on her feet. She encouraged, poked and prodded and greatly enjoyed all the laughter while it lasted. The kids were tired and many did not stay to good an amount of time, but Lily did not mind. Soon ghost stories were being told and Lily not being much for them when to help with clean up duties elsewhere, bidding Chris and Paris farewell for the moment.

When she entered back into her special 'cabin' she was so tired, she paid no heed to anything around her. She wasn't even certain if Paris was in the room as she changed, but when she laid to sleep right before she was out for the night, she did bid her friend goodnight.

"Goodnight Paris," she said before the consciousness she clung to gave way to dreamland.

Lissy had been ever so bouncy when she had got to camp, she had got herself into trouble twice on the first day, well more then that if you include her telling Billy he would enjoy the mud and well... okay so she had got in trouble a few times. She had found her cabin though and met the other girls. She was happy to be sharing with Istas as it was nice to know someone in the room though the other girls all seemed nice enough.

She had curled up in her bed and fallen asleep easily, she woke up feeling far from refreshed though and it irritated her. She had got her swimming stuff and ran down to the lake, she had heard it was open for swimming all through the day and so she had gone down to have her swim. After all swimming was one of the few things Lissy took seriously and as Tallulah could tell you she knew what she was talking about when it came to swimming.

Lissy managed to annoy at least one of the lifeguards. This wasn’t overly surprising but she had enjoyed her swim. After all wasn’t swimming like the best thing in the world? It was only once she was out she realised that if anything she was feeling more tired then normal and swimming normally made her feel so much more refreshed! She wasn’t liking this, maybe there was too much fresh air up here.

She went in search of some food, she knew there was some in her bag as she had sneaked some in and so she ran back to the cabin and had a few snacks. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do next, part of her just wanted to fall back asleep and well... maybe that wasn’t a bad idea.

She tried eating some chocolate as apparently it gave you energy, whether it really did or not was something Lissy would be happy to debate with anyone. She was sure it didn’t but whatever those ‘experts’ say must be true. She would ask Peter at some point he would probably know the truth around it all.

She laid back on her bed trying to decide what to do next. She picked up the piece of paper that she had been given with all the different activities on it. Meh nothing seemed to take her fancy but then that could be more because she just didn’t feel like doing anything. She pulled out her notebook and looked at some of the prank ideas she had written down ready for camp but she didn’t even feel like doing any of them.

Something was wrong. Maybe she should just ask to go home? No she had been so looking forward to coming to camp but she felt so tired....

She woke up when one of the girls entered, apparently they were serving dinner? Had she really slept the day away? She shook her head and let out a soft sigh, well maybe she would be better tomorrow if she had slept so much today. Maybe she was ill? Oh that would be typical and would suck big time.

Good Kitty, Bad Dreams

Despite Ista and Ridley's protests, there was no keeping the cat in the cabin. There were too many risks involved with the manx napping amidst the plush animals. ********* was smart enough to realize such a thing. So after tending to that text message issue with Ridley, ********* had went on her way to explore the area. She eventually found many of the best hiding places for a cat her size. Spaces underneath the cabins, cracks in the walls of older buildings, and dumpsters meant for the trash from the mess hall all were potential hiding places for her during the day. The dumpster didn't exactly leave her fur smelling like a daisy or anything, but ********* had smelled worse in her lifetime. However, even with all of those safe places to hide, it strangely felt safest to go hide in the woods.

She did have the basic senses of an animal, and as she went padding along the path, sniffing about, she couldn't really smell any animals that seemed dangerous. It was a bit unexpected actually. Weren't camps supposed to have bears in the woods that the campers were supposed to be wary of? Shrugging it off, the cat managed to find a hole in a nearby tree. She carefully managed to crawl her way up it to the appropriate branch, then scuttled into the hole. It was a perfect fit! Snuggly, she curled up and closed her eyes. It was time for a cat nap.

A very long catnap. As she slept, things were happening that she could not see. However, her senses weren't completely asleep. There were bad vibes that were overwhelming her senses, causing her to twitch, toss, and turn in her sleep. If only someone had kitty-dream-goggles, they could have told exactly what in her dreams was causing such a reaction. Alas, the world would never know.

All ********* knew was when she woke up the next morning, she didn't feel rested at all. It wasn't the fact she was groggy, but her dreams had really seemed to drain her. And she couldn't remember her dreams at all. Alas, her sleep-self knew more than the cat.

Today was a new day. New days meant she'd be able to get more food.

How simple was life?

CAMP PROMPT #2

The days went by quickly and before the kids knew it Monday had all but come and gone. They were more tired each day they woke up and found themselves wanting more sugar and caffeine. The kids that did arts and crafts also were finding themselves more tired than normal. Though after healthy doses of sugar the kids were ready to go and there was a triathlon at the lake today! Including things like distance swimming, diving and a race around the lake. The Kids that wanted to participate were all dived up into teams, and those that didn’t were allowed to watch on the sidelines and cheer for their friends.

Prompt 2!

Castille woke up early, stretching. Today was triathalon day! If the campers weren't tired before, they would be at the end of today! Castille did notice though that the kids were having a hard time meeting their same energy level as the day before. Maybe it was because they weren't used to being so active. Or maybe it was because their beds weren't as comfortable at the ones at home. For whatever reason, some of the kids were looking a bit raggid come morning. But after a quick breakfast and seeing their friends, most of them perked right up. It was still strange though...

She showered quickly, towel drying he hair and putting it up in her usual double buns while it was still damp. By then the other counselors in her cabin were waking, and she could hear footsteps and muttered "good mornings" in the next room while she brushed he teeth.

It took a minute for her to find a clean counselors shirt. She pulled it over her red tank top and after putting on her shoes, she was ready to go! Castille was so excited, she had forgotten about breakfast.

The triathalon seemed to have woken everyone up quicker then the usual sugary cereal. Kids were running around excitedly, screaming and laughing toward the starting line. Castille knew the stages in the triathalon were swimming, diving, and running. There was a course marked with brightly colored bouyes out in the deeper end of the lake. The second leg was near the dock, where equally bright objects were placed below the surface. After retrieving those, the kids had to swim back to shore and then run a trail mapped out around the camp. She wasn't sure of first place prize but hell, many of the competitors probably didn't either. But the lure o competition and the promise of something shiny made the kids flock to the dock where a big white line had been taped across the slick boards.

Castille took her spot on the side of the lake. She was supposed to watch and make sure no one drowned, and help if hey needed it. But in her excitement, she would rather just watch the race, cheering on the girls from Daffodil Cabin, the one she was in charge of.

A counselor (she couldn't tell which) stood at the line and all of the kids lined up. This was it! She was brimming with excitement, as were the kids around her. They were calling out peoples names, cheering for them. There was a pause, and everyone fell silent. Then an air horn blasted over the lake, and the kids ran a couple steps and jumped in while everyone shouted.

It had begun!

Prompt # 3

It’s raining.

The rain began early on Wednesday morning. By the time most of the camp was awake, which was a little late for many, the rain was coming down hard. The weather had otherwise been divine, but today it was raining cats and dogs. Those that dared venture out of their cabins ended up being drenched. Did anyone think to pack an umbrella? It seemed like very few had planned for that possibility. Even the counselor’s cabin was ill equipped for such a downpour. A few cabins were even leaky… Kids were using their coats and large pieces of cardboard to keep themselves dry between running back and forth from the mess hall. They had to eat after all!

Through the course of the day, the weather never let up. Most of the daily activities had been cancelled. Campers were staying in their cabins, entertaining themselves with board games, letter writing, and the occasional game of truth or dare. A few crafts were still being offered in the mess hall, for those that wanted to brave the weather. But as far as anyone was concerned, the rain was just an excuse to stay in and take it easy.

Surprisingly, taking it easy was just the thing many of the campers needed! Their energy levels were steady through out the day, almost normal.

The rain continued on throughout the night. Before lights out, some junior counselors went to check on each cabins. Bright, happy faces were all they found. The tired, listless children were replaced with perfectly content ones; just the same as they had been when they first arrived.

The weather was vile enough that Negaverse agents were reluctant to go preform their nightly task. Any attempt to do so was questioned by the regular ‘civilian’ counselors. Why not stay in? Have a cup of hot chocolate? Which is exactly what they did.

The next morning, the rain had finally stopped. The grass was slick and wet, but it was otherwise a nice sunny day. The attitude of the campers matched the new day. They felt more rested then they had all week. Weird, huh?

Prompt 2 - 499 words

It was triathlon day!

Lissy had felt drained when she woke up and was finding this more and more irritating. She got up though and ate breakfast followed by some sugary snacks she had sneaked in her bag. The extra energy would be needed! She got dressed quickly enough, her swimming costume, swimming shorts and then camp t-shirt. She shoved her swimming hat in her shorts pocket and put her sandals on before running down towards the lake. A couple of the adults told her to keep her energy for the race but her adrenalin was going now. She wanted to beat everyone!

In Lissy’s mind the only way she wasn’t going to win was because of the running. She wasn’t a runner but in the water Lissy could be rather fish like on occasions and she was going to prove that today! She was up earlier enough and defiantly feeling rather lively - it was the first day since she got her she actually felt awake and possibly due to her competitive streak. After all Lissy was the one who was going to win today, how could anyone beat her?

She waited with the other kids to start though of course they were in teams. Why teams? It wasn’t a tag race everyone had to do it! So why is it that she couldn’t just do it on her own and prove to everyone she was the best? Stupid adults thinking kids needed to be in teams for everything.

As they were all told to line up ready Lissy smiled and put her swimming hat on. Diving, then swimming, then running to tag the next person in the team. Stupid. Though of course she was up for it, she would shine and of course get the best time as well!

She lined up, first of her team to go and waited.

And waited.

Then she was off and she flew into that lake. The dive in was so fast but she wanted to be in that water and she swam, as if it was one of those competitions that her mum made her enter. She wanted to win this and so she swam as fast as she could. She got out the other side of the lake and started running back, finding that actually running and being wet was hard work. She pulled her t-shirt off as it was really annoying her, sticking her to skin and all that. She made it back and tagged the next team member she didn’t notice whether or not she was the first one of that batch back or not she just wanted to know her time! She picked up her towel and walked over to where the times were being kept, only to be told she would have to wait. Did no one know how much Lissy hated waiting?

As it were she found she could watch the others and actually enjoy it - while shivering because she was so cold.

prompt 3 - 468 words

Rain was rubbish.

Waking up to hear the rain thundering on ones roof was never something overly exciting but Lissy woke up to it. She looked at the other girls in the cabin, most seemed to still be sleeping.

She climbed out of bed and looked out of the window. She wouldn’t be able to go swimming today there would be no way anyone would let a child swim in a lake on a day like today. She let out a soft sigh she actually felt awake. She didn’t feel tired at all but yet here she was being made to stay inside somewhere because it was chucking it down with rain.

The day was mostly spent moaning. Anyone in their cabin would have felt sorry for the other girls in the cabin, all Lissy did was moan for all the morning. It was only after lunch and seeing some worms and slugs that Lissy stopped moaning and pulled out a notebook.

She then sat rather quietly on her bed writing and completely ignored the other girls. Eventually she let out a cheer and put her notebook away.

“Shall see you girls later!” She pulled on her coat and went outside. First she went towards the kitchens where she sneaked in. It seemed the cooks had wanted to go back to their cabins as quickly as possible as well and so she was able to find what she was looking for easily enough. Picking up the jar she went back outside and headed towards the lake.

She picked up worms, snails and slugs and put them in the jar along with mud for them, she was sure they ate mud. She had no idea really this was only for a prank she would play later. After all she had to do something on this awful day right?

Once the jar was full of dirt and worms and everything else she went back to the cabin, wet and covered in mud. She quickly went in and tried to hide the jar from the other girls before heading off for a shower, she needed to clean herself up!

That evening she spent dinner and the rest playing and chatting to the other girls, it seemed Lissy was in a better mood at long last! She had a plan set out for the adults and well she felt more alive. It seemed everything was at last right in the world!

That night she had the best nights sleep. She hadn’t felt so awake in a long time. That morning she got up and ran down to the lake for her swim, the ground was soggy and slippery but she didn’t care! She enjoyed her swim and even ran back to the cabin afterwards. At last camp seemed to be getting better!
