User Image The one bad thing about Aiken was that she didn't feel the need to do anything. Talk? Why bother, it wasn't like her words would change a persons life or opinion. Express emotions? Why bother? They hardly helped anyone. Leave Takashi's back? Why? It was a free ride and she had nowhere else to go. Aiken had no family to go to, no home to settle in. And he hadn't protested once, actually, he put her on his back!

It all started when they had an encounter. They had met a few times and yet neither had known the others name until the day he slipped her onto his back, and even then he certainly would never have known her's if a friend hadn't screamed it loudly. Yet that never bothered her. Names were just labels. She hadn't been bothered at all by the fact that she had known his name but he didn't hers, if she had she would have told him. Wait, that was a lie, she didn't express how she felt ever.

That was another strange thing. She had allowed flickers of emotion on her face once with Takashi. Why? Maybe because he was quiet and never asked much from her. Ever.

He let her down for bathroom breaks, food, and water, and that was all she needed. He seemed to understand her well, because whenever she even thought slightly she needed something he would set her down. It was silent communication, and refreshing. For once someone understood her and even was like her. Right now she wanted food and water, but she was content with laying on the bigger males back as he traveled for a bit more.

User ImageTakashi knew he was a very odd fox.

He thought of his family. One the female side his mother was like a mafia boss. His little sister was like a mafia boss-in-training, and his big sister was a mixture of different/alientated and happy-go-lucky/caring/gentle/ditzy. On the male side his father was a mixture of damsel-in-distress and dancing ninja. One of his brothers was loud and kinda implusive, another was....also loud and impulsive, but at the same time highly silly and romantic. His last brother he really didn't know all that much about, but he was willing to bet Chronos would be like the rest of the family.

And Takashi? Well maybe he got some of that implusive, but it was like everyone in the family got the chatter genes and all their quiet genes got shoved into one fox. If more than 100 words had come out of his mouth since the day he was born, it would probably send the world into shock. It wasn't that he couldn't talk either, or that it was difficult. Takashi just tended to react on a more subconsious plane. Few foxes realized how much they gave away by body language, and speaking was more for pleasantries.

Maybe that was why he had bonded so instantly to Aiken. In his family he had always been closest to Peri, even shared a form of nonverbal communication with her, but it was nothing near the level he and Aiken had. It was to the point where their names really didn't matter much to each other, and Takashi could have easily gone on without know Aiken's name if she hadn't felt the urge to tell him. He would have found a nickname or something to give her when his thought-train wandered that way, and in fact did occasionally give her a nickname in his mind.

Ah, speaking of. He felt the slightest of tensings in Aiken's muscles. Oh, perhaps he should have explained why he had her sitting on his back... Well she'd just seemed so overwhelmed as her friends crowded around her, that he wiggled under her, stood, and walked off. After that it just never occured to him to put her down. She was quite light and small anyway, and no real burden.

Back to the muscle tensing. Judging by how much time had gone by, and past experice, she was probably ready for something to eat or drink. Takashi paused to sniff the air, then changed direction. Tasty plants tended to grow near water, and he was quite sure there was something up ahead...

Aiken blinked when the male changed direction, wondering if he had caught on. He was smart and noticed things, this was a part of the reason why Aiken felt content where she was. She didn't need words. Of all the people she had met they demanded words, save Xesani, a vixen she had met recently, and of course, Takashi. Xesani was nice, yet, but she didn't understand Aiken's silence, she couldn't decipher it. Takashi could, and in return Aiken could decipher his own silence. Out of the two he was the more talkative one, barely. Aiken would be perfectly content being mute for her entire life if someone never asked her directly a question.

Her headphones nearly slid off, caught by Aiken's teeth quickly. Ah, when had she started carrying these around? Probably because she just never bothered to take them off. As usual. Things came with her because she just didn't bother to let them go. Sort of how she became Takashi's new heat warmer.

Takashi paused at the sound of something scrapping against fur, able to hear Aiken's teeth clinking together in the sudden silence. Ah, her headphones must have slipped. They didn't do it that often, but often enough that Aiken was pretty quick at catching them.

He gave her a minute to settle, then resumed walking. It didn't seem that long, probably only 15 minutes, and they had arrived at a small lake. Takashi lowered himself to the ground and, as Aiken's legs touched down, slowly back out from under her. She might need a minute to stretch, and work out some kinks. Perhaps a little privacy too. Well that was fine, he could go look for some food around the shore. Off he went.

She watched Takashi as he walked off, already certain what he was giving her. Privacy. She turned to the lake, lapping up the cold liquid until she was quenched, licking her lips. Hmmm, it'd been awhile since she had a chance to clean herself. This was a good chance. She set her headphones by the edge of the lake, slipping into the cold water and dunking her head underneath, lifting it and shaking her head. She sat down, raking her nails through her hair until it was completely untangled.

Takashi had yet to return, so the vixen moved to go and sit on top of a rock jutting out of the ground to dry herself. However, her paw hit a sharp rock, cutting the bottom paw. She didn't notice until she pulled herself onto the rock, shook herself off, and glanced down. Hmm. The water was red around her feet. Why? She stared at the water, unsure what to do.

Maybe she was seeing things.

(( Okay... she's...dim. ))

Takashi was strolling back, a fish clamped in his jaws. He hadn't set out to go fishing originally, but he'd just happened upon this one. It was floundering in the shallows, quite weak, and probably would have died even if he did push it back in deeper water.

As Takashi walked, in no particular hurry, the wind blew a new scent at him. Any familiar with his usually sedate pace would have gaped at him now as he dashed forward. In next to no time he was standing next to Aiken.

He dropped the fish, then stared at her paw. And stared. And stared. It would make anyone wonder what all the hurry before was about. Then he crouched down, used his paw to lift Aiken's up, and began to lick the wound.

((....You know, instead of Takashi, he reminds me more of Senri from the manga Anima. XD))

See, now if Takashi hadn't come forward the quickly Aiken would never have noticed that it was her paw cut. When he raced forward her ear had flicked once as an acknowledgment, however when he approached her on the rock her eyes raised and locked onto Takashi, a look that clearly spoke "what" as he approached her. His eyes were staring at her paw. Slowly, she followed his line of sight, spotting the cut. Oh. So. It had been her paw.

Now that she saw it, she felt the slight sting. That is, until Takashi bent down. She lifted her paw, wondering if he wanted to drink the water, which confused her because it was red and probably bloody. Until his tongue lapped against her cut. For a brief second Aiken stared at Takashi, then, she tilted her head questioningly. Rarely did she show anything hinting at her emotions, but this was odd. He was licking it? Why?

To disinfect maybe? Or because he liked the taste? Curiously, she licked the red water, sticking her tongue out when the bitter taste hit her. Ew. Not pretty.

(( Oh lordy, when they have kids, Senri is a name to consider. And Husky. And Cooro~ ))
PostPosted: Sun Jun 26, 2011 2:16 am

((I call Senri XD! Though gods help them if they have Cooro, Husky, or Nana-like children >_> ))

Takashi was actually fairly absorbed in his task. He felt Aiken tilting forward a little and heard her lapping at the water, but assumed she was just thirsty and wanted a drink. He didn't really find anything wrong with the taste of blood himself, since he ate his meat raw just like any other predator.

He kept up his ministrations until the blood flow from Aiken's paw had stopped, though it wouldn't take much to get it going again if she set it down too hard. Rather than give her a chance to do so though, as soon as Takashi set down her paw he wiggled back under Aiken and picked her up again.

He stopped briefly to pick up the fish, and stopped a dozen feet away from the shore. Then he just stood there. He didn't want to move on until Aiken had ate, but he wasn't sure if he should set her down yet or not. At this point in his indecision, if Aiken gave him any kind of indicator what she wanted, even the most subtle kind, he would have gone with what she wanted.

When he lifted her Aiken rested her head on his back, letting him take her away. She curled her paw under her body slightly, listening to his heart beats as the male stopped. She smelled fish. Her nose twitched, accepting the smell and leaning forward slightly to peer at it. Now she was hungry. Fish tasted better, anyway. She never really liked the metallic taste of blood in mammals, maybe she was weird for that. No, if anything she was weird for her lack of speaking or expression emotions.

Now that she thought about it, when was the last time she had spoken? Aiken didn't really mind, neither did Takashi, though. Or so he led on. Though, Aiken didn't mind his silence either, it was refreshing to have that silence that was both normal and both could communicate through.

((I just realize, neither had said a single word yet.))

Takashi let Aiken down off his back, and stood back to let her eat while keeping an eye trained on her injured paw. He always made sure Aiken had her fill before he ate himself. Then he'd either take her leftovers, or snag something as they walked. Really, it wasn't too hard to find a meal this time of year. He could always try to fish a bit more if Aiken looked like she wanted a slow meal and a chance to relax. He watched her body, looking for tiny shifts in the muscles that were his signals.

((XD Oh, those poor optional mutes... I'll just hope they get in at least one word before we call the RP done...))

She glanced at Takashi, then the fish. Carefully, she cut it in half, pushing some to him. Now why had she done that? It was certainty not a direct response to something he said, and most of he movements were either direct responses to others movements, or absolutely necessary. Aiken was a very precise creature. However, when she realized the male hadn't eaten and was letting her down to eat first, and remembered that he often ate after her and sometimes had to catch food for himself, she had split the fish. A logical explanation would be that Aiken didn't want to waste time, so instead of making him get more later he could eat now. Though this was improbable, seeing as they really didn't have a destination to be striving more. They were both just wandering.

So was this development? In her part at least? Perhaps. Aiken didn't so much as flicker a smile, though sometimes Takashi had caught her off guard and caused her to let a lick of emotion cross her face, something she never did. Not a smile though. Either way, her sharing the fish when there was no reasoning behind it (that she knew of, though maybe she felt guilty?) was a major improvement. And she didn't even open her mouth, merely going back to munching on her fish.

Seriously, if her mother saw her now she'd be disappointed.

(( What is it with my vixens sharing fish?! ))

Takashi just stared down at the fish at his paws. Several seconds passed in which he did nothing but stare. Finally he looked up at Aiken with his customarily blank expression. Or at least it would seem blank to most. Since staring at something for long periods of time usually meant Takashi was wondering if it was okay to touch or eat. That or he was trying to figure someone out, but since the fish was quite dead...

((No clue XD ))

Aiken spotted his stare, turning to the fish and deciding he needed to know he could eat it. So, she opened her mouth and bit the edge, lifting the fish and looking at him, leaning closer so that a piece of fish nudged the males side of the muzzle. She was showing it was for him, and hopefully he'd understand that and eat the fish now. She didn't wag her tail, didn't smile, just intently looked at him with a fish half in her mouth, just for Takashi. Most would wonder why she was being kind, but to her it was just normal. Of course she'd offer him food, he had hunted and she didn't want him to starve.

Ah. Okay, the fish was for him then. Takashi took the piece that Aiken offered him, then bent down to work on the half that she'd shoved at him. It didn't surprise him that Aiken would share. Most didn't see it, thinking she was emotionally distant and cold. Really she was very kind, and just kept what she felt behind a mask. Takashi actually found Aiken quite expressive.

Of course, Takashi wasn't the one anyone asked when it came to showing emotions...

She flicked her tail once as he accepted the food, going back to eating her own. Absently, she glanced up as he ate, content to silently go back to finishing her meal. She wondered if he ever talked when with his family, or even what his family was like. She assumed a kind one, judging by how he carried himself and acted. He didn't have scars covering him, nor did he show any signs of stress when faced with testing times. He also seemed protective. She licked her lips to clean off any fish bits, her paw stinging when she set it down.

Where we they going? Was he going home? Was she being carried to his home? When would he let her down? She didn't see any reason to leave his back. It was comfy and a free ride. Also, she didn't have a reason to do so, so why bother? She'd travel with him until he shoved her aside.
