o o o o o Teleporation
Drangonfly does not actually teleport so much as move very, very quickly over a short distance. Her natural abilities are actually super speed and super strength; she can move faster than the eye (and even most cameras) can see but she can only do so for extremely short periods of time and therefor is limited in how far she can travel. Her super strength is actually increased when moving at super speeds so she can do things like jump ridiculously high. As a result it appears as if she is teleporting. She can move fast enough to vibrate her molecules through solid objects so she can 'teleport' through doors when so inclined, but it puts quite a strain on her and the because of the time it takes she can only travel through thin walls, lest she return to normal speed midway.
o o o o o Super Strength and Durability
Although she is stronger than a normal person and can pack quite a punch her super strength is far greater when she is in super speed. Her normal-speed super strength is close enough to human that many people chalk it up to (very) intense physical training. She can jump farther, punch harder, and take more damage than anyone of her physical size she reasonably be able to.
o o o o o Keen Eyes / Quick Reflexes
At a subconscious level Daphne's mind is always working at super speed so she can proses things much faster than a normal person. Her reflexes are preternaturally fast and her ability to analyze a situation is greatly improved. However because this mostly happens at an subconscious level she will often react to things before consciously realizing why. A super speedy brain has other useful quirks as well, including but not limited to the ability to read entire novels in one sitting.
o o personality ➘➘
Daphne is dedicated to her work as a hero, often to the expense of her familial and social relationships. She comes off as much your typical intrepid reporter, always snooping around where she doesn't belong, and uses her civilian identity as an excuse for scouting before a mission or if she's caught somewhere she shouldn't be. When in civilian mode Daphne is pretty relaxed and outgoing, she has a quick tongue and uses it liberally. She is always ready with a joke or a witty comment and is most often found with a smirk on her lips. When 'on the job' she tries to stay below the radar, if the mission can be completely stealthily that would be her first choice, but if the situation calls for it she is not above getting her hands dirty. She relies on agility and distraction to win confrontations and tries to keep her opponents off balance by maintaining a jovial attitude. There has not been a lot of opportunity in her past for her to work with other heroes (despite the number of them roaming the cities) and in her civilian profession she runs a one-man-show so she is no longer used to playing on a team, though with her history with team sports she probably wouldn't be completely hopeless.

o o o o o Born and Raised in Crantel
Daphne was born the younger of two girls to a happy family in Crantel. She want to public school and ran with the popular crowd. In middle and high school she played on she school's basketball team and was the captain for both her junior and senior years. When she graduated however her priorities changed and she turned down an out of town basketball scholarship to attend the journalism program at GCU (Greater Crantel University) the top school in the city. She was a strong writer was a knack spinning unconventional angles on big news stories. After graduating she went to work for the Daily Cant but a constant difference of opinion with the editor made staying there impossible. Instead she works freelance and writes her own news blog in the interlude.
o o o o o Becoming a Hero
Her powers emerged when she was fifteen, she had been practising jumpshots in her backyard when all of the sudden she was thirty feet in the air. It was freaky - very freaky - but also a lot of fun. She worked hard to figure out how she did it and actually had a very easy time keeping control. She knew she had to keep her abilities a secret but she never really thought about using them to before a hero until one day near Christmas in her senior year. She was passing by corner store on evening after shopping for gifts when she heard yelling from inside. Daphne looked through the dirty window and saw two men point guns at the cashier and the couple of patrons. She ducked around the corner and began to dial the police when she overheard what they were saying; one of them had lost their plastic Halloween mask and the pair were arguing about whether they had to kill the hostages now that they had seen his face. She realized that by the time the police got there it would be too late but she could do something. She grabbed the mask out of the cops-and-robbers set she had bought for her nephew and walked through the front door. Both of the men turned on her and raised their guns but she was faster. She used her teleportation to disarm them before they realized what was going on and was able to subdue them mostly by luck and raw power.Someone had called the police during the scuffle and she could hear the sirens in the distance so she bolted before anyone was abloe to ask any questions. After the idea was planted in her mind though it began to grow and she explored the different ways her ability could be used for crime fighting and super heroing. She transformed one of her sister's old dance costumes into a suitable uniform, made herself a better mask and hit the streets. She started small - a car jacking here, a mugging there - and quickly became more confident until she did her first 'big rescue' and the press named her Dragonfly. It has been some years now since she had considered herself a proper hero.
o o o o o Academy
Although Daphne speculated on what that building out in the middle of the bay might be she only gave it the occasional thought. She was never invited to join or even told such a place existed, which is just as well because she would not have wanted to go anyway; she thinks she was lucky to have had as normal a childhood as she did. ((If this character is ever excepted into continuity as a hero there are any number of ways she could interact with the academy. Her home city is just off its shores so its plausible that she might cross paths with students and/or teachers if they ever do any out-trips or she could come to help train students or what have you~. And hey, one more hero for the kids to be side-kicks too.))
o o appearance ➘➘
Daphne has a body built for spandex; she has long slender limbs and a shapely figure. Her blond hair is straight cut and falls to her butt when not tied back. She has a pretty but unremarkable face with bright sea-blue eyes and thin lips.
o o o o o Civilian
As a civilian Daphne never, ever, wears her hair in a plain ponytail. Just one safety-measure to prevent people from connecting her to 'Dragonfly'. She will however wear it up in intricate knots, braided ponytails, or low-tied ponytails. (She has also been known to rock the occasional pair of pigtails.) Clothing wise she wears sleek, fashionable, styles. When on business she usually wears high waisted slacks and colourful blouses.
o o o o o Costumed
Dragonfly's crime fighting attire is a black one-piece, turtle necked, sleeveless leotard with rectangle openings cut out of the side. She wears long black fold-over top gloves and matching knee-high boots over mid-thigh grey and yellow striped socks. [best two outfit ref sheets ever] She always wears her hair in a high ponytail, tied back with a long silver ribbon with v-cut ends that falls much longer than her hair.
