Thaliawen Loki was supposed to be cleaning his room. Supposed to be here meaning that he was not cleaning, and instead he was plotting (as usual) to frighten his mother. He had cleared off his desk at least, where he had been listening to music on loop to keep his mother out of the room. It was his idea of dark music (the boy was still determined to impress his father by being entirely evil and wicked, which, though the boy knew he wasn't, had to act like he was. In order to impress his father--and avoid his twin brother's stupidity). So to keep his mother from walking in on him--as she had done countless times to show him that he'd forgotten to put his laundry away, or that he needed to go shopping with her to purchase a new set of underwear. (It really was amazing, how many times a week she decided he needed new underclothing, did women go through it so quickly? Or was it just because his father stole it? It sounded like the evil sort of thing Matth would do.) I've been watchingI've been waitingIn the shadows all my timeSo how would he frighten his mother this time? Spiders? Nah, that was too cliche. Carebears? No, carebears were going too far. They were terrifying, those bright colors and smiling faces. They were almost as frightening as teletubbies. (Loki was absolutely certain that custurd they ate was filled with arsenic). Lately I been walking walking in circles, watching, waiting, for something. Snakes? No, his father would suspect something. Especially since their grandmother had a certain...talent, was it? A talent with snakes of a certain--giant breed. He might have been able to attract animals (whether he liked it or not). On the third time of listening to the song on loop (thank the gods for Youtube, whichever one had made it, even if it did have to buffer because his computer was so slow. He'd have to see about asking Dad if he could buy a newer one--but Matthias wasn't known for his fondness for technology. I feel that I should go and play with the thunder Somehow I just don't wanna stay and wait for a wonderMaybe he could convince his Nemean lion cub to pounce on his mother; something told him if he put Kitty's steak near where Risa was, the large dog sized kitten would attack. Not enough to harm her--the Nemean lion was harmless, really! Wouldn't hurt a fly! I've been searching I've been living For tomorrows all my life. The hairs on Loki's neck rose. He glanced to his right; Kelani was curled up like a cat on his bookshelf, along side of her albino shadow. To his left, was Kitty, who had taken residence in his closet (which no longer had a door, because Kitty had decided to remove it). Behind him was his bed--he had to take a double look. Something red...humanoid... A shadow? Lounging on his bed? "Hey! Get off my bed!" Loki stood, and stared at the red being with wide ebony eyes. "DAD! There's a ghost in my room! It's on my bed! DAD!" Juridian Soul The shadow on the bed looked... tired. If a shadow could look tired. Maybe like he - at least it looked like a He - didn't feel well. At the outset, everything that came out of the shadow's mouth was gibberish - but it slowly, slowly started to fade into natural English. ~S'iidai n'dai rii'sadai. N'iirisai... es'sedaii... N'rii k'tai mr'see that n'vair ari'tasi hard, if you n'kai.. I would appreciate if if you would tell me your name, Master. We are going to be with each other for a very long time, after all. ... Quaint place. Small, but cute. I almost expected you to be a girl.~

Matthias had been in his study, enjoying a cup of tea and a good tome in quiet and solace. He had planned to spend his afternoon in this nice, calm, relaxing manner. Sadly, fate had other plans. He heard the oh-so-familiar yell. Well, there went his afternoon. Sighing, he closed his book and sat his tea aside, slowly rising from his seat. He wondered what his son was yelling about now. What kind of animal had wandered in this time?
"Coming!" he called back as he left his study, quietly closing the door behind him. You know, he thought he'd be called on less as the children grew older and more independent. Sadly, that seemed to be far from the case. Those cherished quiet moments were even fewer and farther between. Honestly, what happened to the supposed independence in today's youth?
Matthias stopped outside the boy's bedroom door, opening the door and stepping in. "Yes, Loki? What is it?" he asked, his tone calm and controlled.

"Er, my name's Loki," Loki explained awkwardly. "Listen, I'm not your master or anything--I don't have a pet ghost. And hey! I'm not a girl!" Stupid ghost! It had thought he'd be a girl? Couldn't ghosts tell what gender people were anymore? Honestly, he didn't think this red one was that smart. "And what do you mean we'll be together a long time? I didn't ask for you. Can you go away now, ghost? Before Dad sees you? I have enough pets, really."
Ah, Dad. He was always reliable when Loki had some sort of issue. "Dad, there's a ghost," the young fae pointed in the shadow's direction. "It's blood red, I think it might be one of those evil ones. He's not very nice at all. He says my room's quaint and he almost thought I'd be a girl. And he calls me Master! I told him I don't want any pet ghosts, but he seems lazy. Can you make him go away?"

Loki rose off the bed in one smooth motion, and made his way over to the other Loki. He reached out to slide his hand deceptively gently into the boy's chest, and lean close toward his ear as he gripped the beating heart inside.
~He can't see me. Nor can he hear me. You're the only one that I can interact with right now - and I swear.... if you call me a 'pet' again, we're going to have some problems.~
Very, very soft pull. Enough to ache, but not to cause real damage.
~Do you understand me?~

Now, while Matthias didn't see anything in the room...something had to have scared the boy. His son was nearly as pale as he was, and his freckles were almost as dark as his hair. It didn't matter whether this ghost was real or not; it was real enough to frighten the boy this badly. He had to do something to comfort his son, to reassure him. Had to find a way to make this better.
"Loki...I can't see anything." he admitted, his face filled with concern. "You don't need to worry about ghosts, regardless. They can only hurt you if you allow them to." That was a bold-faced lie, and Matthias knew it. But, if it would make the boy feel better, it would have to do.

Loki had gone almost as white as Matth; and that was saying something, since he had inherited his mother's skintone and freckles. "What do you mean, he can't see you? Make yourself visible! I don't want to look like I'm insane! Why can't you talk to him? And I can't help it. Usually everything that follows me home is a pet. So I assumed--well. You don't really look like an animal..."
"He is hurting me! I didn't say he could, he just stuck his arm into my chest and--" the fae shivered. "He says you can't see him. Why can't you see him? Can't you fix it? You can do anything. Make him leave me alone! He can bother Milo. Milo'd like a p--er. A ghost. He says I can't call him a pet or there'll be problems."

Loki licked the boy's cheek, and let go, pulling his hand out. Then grabbed his face, and planted a kiss directly onto the other Loki's lips, passionate, but quick.
~If that was your first kiss, I apologize. You're just so... cute. So cute and mortal. By the way...~
He turned to look at Matthias, and narrowed his eyes a bit, speaking in a very soft tone - out loud, but only audible by Loki. However... directed at Matthias.
"I think you should go get your son an ice cream cone, then vacuum his room so that he doesn't have to do it. Oh, and before you do that, turn around three times, and bark, then say 'I am a strawberry tart' before leaving the room."

Matthias wasn't sure what to think. What was he supposed to do? To say? "Well, I would need time to research and look up a solution." he said, his tone as calm as he could manage, his concern masked as well as he could manage. "I am sure there's something we can do in the meantime, though. Do not worry." What was he supposed to think? There was no evidence that anything was actually
And then it happened. Matthias looked alarm as he suddenly found himself turning in circles. Once, twice, three times. And then, he barked. And, to make matters worse - "I am a strawberry tart." Something was definitely up here. Under no circumstances would he ever say that. Ever. "Loki...what's going on?" he asked, his eyes narrowed in annoyance. Not at his son, but at whoever else was in the room. He was now fighting the urge to go get his son ice cream and grab the vacuum cleaner.

Loki wasn't sure how he was supposed to react to the ghost thing licking his cheek, and was even more confused when he was kissed; and pulled away quickly, making a face. "Don't do that!" he gasped, baring his fangs in warning. "I'm not like that! And I'm not cute. Nor mortal. Honestly, you're not a very smart ghost. I'm a fae."
"Dad! Don't listen to him! He just kissed me!" The boy gave a shudder, and watched in horror as his father followed the ghost's directions. "I told you there was a ghost! Couldn't you fight it, Dad? Don't worry! I won't tell anyone what you did." He was too horrified to tell anyone, anyway. "I don't think I'd mind the icecream, though. Do you want one, ghost? Or can you not eat? I don't know much about ghosts... What's your name anyway?"

~My name is Loki.~ he told the other Loki, a slightly amused tinge to his voice. ~No, I didn't steal your name. You, if anything, stole mine. I am a little over four-hundred years old... But that's not important. I can't eat right now - but I'll be able to in the future....~
He staggered a bit as he stood there, and it looked like he pressed a hand to his head. ~Nnnn....~ A flash of something zipped into the other Loki's head. A wall of flame, oppressing heat... then gone. Nothing else, like the vision was never there in the first place.
~... Do you mind if I sit on your bed again?~

"No, I couldn't fight it." Matthias muttered through gritted teeth. The annoyance had grown into anger. It was well controlled; the heat of agitation hadn't reached his face. But, his eyes had darkened noticeably. His arms crossed, fingers digging into his own arms as he tried to fight the urge. He may not be able to overcome it, but by hell he was going to procrastinate. And he was going to research how to exercise and/or destroy a ghost as soon as he got a chance. No one was going to control him in his own house. No one.

"Are you okay? And are you sure you didn't steal my name? And are you sick? You don't seem like a very healthy ghost. My mom's a healer, if you like--" Loki didn't know if his mother could heal ghosts--and he didn't even think she would be able to see him. "You won't be mean to her, will you? She's going to have a baby, so...You can be mean to her as soon as the baby's born, alright?"
The boy made his way over to his new ghost friend, concerned. "You should rest. Lay down, I don't mind. Dad... I think the ghost's sick. His name's Loki, too. Maybe he's the Norse God! That'd explain why you couldn't fight it. He's a god! But he doesn't seem like he's in good health... Do you think you can help him? Hey ghost, do you have a headache? I can help."

~I just need to lay down. I'll be okay.~ He snapped, releasing the compulsion from Mattias, along with a briefly worded apology right to the man's mind. In a very soft and wavering voice. A boy's voice.
Retreating to the bed, he curled up on it, facing the other two, and watching Matthias and Loki for a moment. He winced again, and curled up even tighter. Still forming. Still becoming whatever it was he was going to become. And it hurt. Every memory had to go through his head, every thought he'd ever had, and his body... It had to form again. It wasn't pleasant.
~I told your father sorry for you. I was just showing you what I could do - I meant no harm.~

As quickly as the impulses came, they dissipated, leaving only a small, whispery apology in Matthias' head. It was a young one? Hell, how was he supposed to stay mad at a child? The man sighed, running one hand through his hair. Anger, he knew how to handle that. Awkwardness? Not so much. Confusion, somewhat more, but still not much. "It is...alright." he responded, ignoring the awkward feeling of speaking to empty air.
For a moment, he was about to tell his son that ghosts didn't get sick, but the notion caught in his throat. "Well, I am not sure I'd be much help. You know as well as I that a healer I am not. That is more your mother's area of expertise." he said, frowning lightly. Hmm, was their new friend a Norse god? To be honest, he highly doubted that. But, whatever their new house guest was, he was powerful. Hn.

"Are you sure?" Loki asked, concerned. The ghost might have claimed to be fine, but the boy doubted. His ghost friend had been playful--if not entirely frightening, and now-- well they fae was pretty sure ghosts couldn't die... "I'm sorry I was mean to you. You don't have to leave." Maybe that would make the ghost feel better? "I can be your Master, if you really want me to be. I don't think I'd make a very good one though. I've never been anyone's master." Unless he counted Kitty; but judging by the ghost's reaction to being called "pet", he didn't think Ghost-Loki would appreciate being compared to an animal.
"Listen, ghost, if you tell me what's wrong, I can help you." He wasn't sure how to help a ghost--but he was sure could, if he was told how to go about it.
"Dad, can I keep him? He's sick... and he needs somewhere to stay until he gets better, at least. And we can be friends. He won't do that stuff to you again--" the fae sat on his bed, and moved to gently hug his new ghost friend. "Please be okay?"
