Karis sat fishing. Well, she had been fishing. In all truthfulness, she was actually napping on a thick tree branch nearby. She had left a make shift pole pitted in the shallow river bank. It hadn't had many bites since she didn't get out to the river till late that day. The morning breezes fluffing her fur had made her feel drowsy, so she crawled up the nearest tree. She trusted probably no one would come by and steal any fish away.

Jarek laid at the top of his waterfall. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the air clear, and the wind had the perfect breeze. Being the lazy olf he was, he sprawled on a rock to soak in the sunlight. He loved lazy days. Every now and then he would look over the edge to watch all the fish in the river below. This time he looked, there was a few fish in the shore and another creature in the woods. He was not used to seeing other creatures besides fish in his neck of the woods. He debated on either yelling to it, or diving from the fall and seeing who it was. "Hello?!" He yelled, but was defend by the falls roar. So he took a running leap and dove into the river below

Her ears gave a most certain twitch at the sound of a splash. Her head perked up and she looked around her immediate area. Then, she thought about the sound. The splash didn't actually sound that close by. Still, she grew alert, and her body started to tense up. She slid down the tree until she thumped the ground. She skidded off and trotted over to her fishing line. She pulled the string up with her paw. She frowned to find that splash hadn't been something catching her line. She despairingly dropped the line back into the water and turned to go find a nice hiding spot. She circled the tree she had been napping on a few times. She luckily found a little nook between the big roots. The nook didn't really cover her at all. Just the larger root in front of her just blocked her when she lowered her body down all the way. If she had sat up anymore, it would have not been of any use to shield herself. She then started to dart her eyes around, fearing some undulucans or worse.

He swam to the surface with a lound inhale. "Wow," he thought "I must have dove 60 ft. That is a new record." He paddled threw the water, he knew in the vacenity where he saw the other creature, but as he pulled close all he could see was a line, with a fish on it. Jarek swam up and bit the fish, and started to cary the fish away.

Karis then sat like a cat waiting to pounce. Her body trembled and quivered with the adrenaline She then dashed at the speed of lightening at hte ripples of another body emerging from the river. How dare they! No wonder she wasn't getting any good bites.. because SOMEONE was eating them all! Well, not really, only she was jumping to conclusions in all her befuddledness from hearing that distant splash. Though a voice murmuring and the blue blur that started to fill her vision made her not know how to react. She had planned to run up and be mean and fight with whoever it was. She really wanted to demand they return the stolen fish at once. However, the face was familiar. His horn on his forehead was plucking at her memory from the winter past. As the memory of ice fishing came to mind, she found herself unable to yell at him. Her truer and nicer nature started to rise up, and she was only able to stomp the ground with a cough and an "AHEM...." Then, she tried to assert herself. "If that was on my line, then it's rightfully mine you know. If you wanted fish, you should just help fish. You shouldn't just take it from my line!!!" Well... she had still gone into a rant a bit.

Jarek looked at her, and his eyes got big. There is no way, it could not be her. She left, and he knew he would never see her agian. "Karis?" He asked her. "Is it really you?" The fish fell from his mouth and swam away. His face darted to the water and after teh fish. "Err, sorry abouth that... I didn't realize this was yours... umm........" He was in a delima, if this was Karis, he would jump from the water and hug he tightly, but is this was not her, he did not knwo what to do... people don't just wander into these parts.

Karis felt tremendously surprised. He remembered her as well. He remembered her name. Immediately she hadn't remembered his and quickly tried to comb her brain feverishly in order to recall it. Her thinking of it was almost immediately distracted by the way he was looking at her. Though she was terribly humble and meek almost 99% of the time, her nervousness inspired her to attempt to deflect her befuddled condition she was in. She tried to posture and make herself appear more calm and collected. She fidgetedly sat down and held a paw at her chest. Her friendly smile surfacing as it was really hard for her to be anything but most of the time. "Of course... I believe... I am the only Karis for ... some expanse of this region. If there is another, I haven't met her yet. Though when others meet me, I have yet to hear that I have the same name as another they know." She had intended to say this with as much arrogance as she could. She failed since it wasn't really in her nature to be that way.

Jarek could tell she knew him, but he was kind of confused on her scarcasm. "Umm.. Yea, I guess your right..." He scratched his head with his paw. Deviently he looked from side to side then sprang from the water yelling JAREK ATACK and pulled Karis into the water,

Karis was so surprised that she couldn't help but let him pull her in. The shock of it also pretty much cast aside her little show she was trying to put on. She then felt a little fright of the sudden pull into the water and clung to him. She did of course know how to swim from all the years of solitary fishing. Any good fisher had to sometimes be a good swimming in order to prevent things from being swept upstream by suddenly strong currents. She tried to catch her bearings as quickly as possible. When she did, she tried to let go and swim up to the surface. She wasn't angry, sad, or anything like that. Just shocked... could almost be called shell shocked.

"Hey!" He splashed her back. "Wow, I have done nothign but lay here and swim around." He shrugged "My life is pretty simple" A little fish swam by him and he sgagged it inbetween his toes. "But you were always on my mind."

Karis was about to tell him about her adventures with Chiyuki and Chrno, but then... She had left them nearly a month back to do some herb gathering and seemed to have lost her way from their trail. She decided maybe that wasn't important to share. "I used to have a simple lifel ike that." Then, she splashed him some more as his flattery did sway her a tad. "Really? That's amazing.. Usually noone remembers me unless they're seeing me eveyrday."

"I have a pretty good memory, I always remember a person who makes a big difference in my life." He winked and splashed her a bit harder. "Girl, I tell you now, you will not win this fight.

Karis then grinned down hard. She hadn't intended it to be a fight. "You did yank me in here after all. You deserve it.." She playfully stuck her tongue out at him. Her eyes watching him. A big difference in his life.. huh? She then ducked under, swimming by underneath him to pull on his legs to splash him under the water; then swim away.

He floated to the top. "No leg pulling foe you little missy!" He laughed, dove in and pulled her afloat
She smiled brightly at him with giggles spilling out. "So.... are you implying that if I did start a water fight.. that.. you can beat me?"
"Yes." He dunked her under the water and brought her back up.
She came back up and spit out the water that went up her nose and in her mouth towards his face. "Hah! That was mere child's play... It would have been super effective if I didn't spend so much time swimming..." She punctuated it by swimming away barely a few inches, and then she flipped onto her back and backpedaled.. jsut to show off to him how good a swimmer she was.
He giggled as he watched her. "You know, I could teach you a few things. I can not believe you are back. You do not knwo how happy I am." He hugs her in the water.
