He was king in his own little land. Proudly prowling along, batting away evil sticks that came along his path, following the strange alluring scent of something that dared cross into his territory. Vallormace had every intention of destroying this tresspasser. It was his! His spot! His little pretty waterfall pond! His cliff! His! His! Then again... it was spring. Someone could just be passing through. " And it is a nice warm day..." he said to himself as he approached the cool waters of the clear pond to take a drink. The red Reynard shook himself out, did a quick roll in the fine sand by the shore to deter ticks and other pests from infesting his fine coat that was practically ideal for noctournal activity in his dense section of forest, and proceeded to sunbathe in the clearing. " Mmm... Paradise... couldn't get any better than this. " he muttered, then frowned to ammend his statement, " Okay... could be. But this pretty much is ideal, yeah... "

Seirion had been in a dark mood. After weeks of fur-bristling tension between her and her parents the young vixen had been ejected from the den for good. Her meandering across the countryside for the past day and a half had been partly motivated by the need for a new territory, but just as much had been trying to forget that she was an adult now, on her own. The operative word was "had". The fox had been pacing along the side of a waterfall-fed pond (so noisy, seriously, she wouldn't want to live here even it if was the last place in the forest) when something bright had caught her eye. She'd carefully stepped over the waves to dig out a solid, glittering rock. That had been a half-hour ago. Seirion was now engaging in an activity that could be described as nothing else but "frolicking". If Vallormace looked up, he'd see a blue vixen leaping and tossing something in the air on the beach a ways away, heedless of the mud staining her paws.

Indeed he did see something from the corners of his eyes. Something blue. That wasn't a fish. A bird? Too big to be a bird. He decided to pay attention and caught sight of the frolicking female holding what seemed to be a rock of some sort. He stared.
And stared... and stared... and stared.
Holy cow! That was a female!? Never mind the sheer sleekness of the female, the rock was pretty awesome too. And wasn't this his land? Oh right.
Thinking himself quite smug and sure of himself, Val wandered over and sat down near the muddy shore where the girl was parading her rock around.
" That's mine~ " he said with a very sly and charming grin. Or as charming as one could get while doing the fox equivilant of mentally undressing the girl. He was lewd, what could be done? A tough act that was probably easily transparant, but he was just...doing...the right thing...right? Maybe... dang it was getting warm in here~ .

Seirion had finally cornered that dastardly rock and was about to land the finishing blow. She hissed, drew herself up, and -
"Gah!" Leapt about a foot in the air.
She turned to the male who had spoken, crouched down slightly, ears halfway flattened. "Uh". Oh no. Was this the holder of this territory? He had to be the holder of this territory. She'd hoped she could just pass through without encountering him, but...well. s**t. Crap, how long had she been holding still? "Uh, w-well..."
Seirion's shoulders tensed, preparing to run. But what about the rock? She couldn't just leave it! But could she even fight this male? He looked tough and she was the trespasser.
She placed a paw on the stone. "You talking about this?", she asked, then winced. She had intended to sound challenging and brave, not faltering.

So cute~ He caught himself and coughed, puffed his chest out then deflated in confusion. She was defending...a rock? And apparently lived in her own little world. My~ What a cute little slice of...
He coughed and pointed his nose in the air, watching her carefully while trying not to give away that he was blushing... Though with his naturally red fur it would be hard to detect. " Yes. " he answered.
Gathering himself up, he walked over as gracefully as he could, totally noticing his own body doing weird quirky twitches, which included swatting flies away with his tail. "Mine... Just like everything on my little plot of land. Though... what should I do with you? " he purred. Circling around the vixen, he let his tail brush against her. He was teasing. Heck, he had no intention of hurting the girl.
It was a girl. They dealt with the babies. You're nice to the womens... Sometimes. " I can't just let you have that rock~ "

Any attempts at aggressive posturing flew out the window when the red stranger approached. Seirion fell backwards to sit awkwardly on her haunches. In the cold, now-muddy water. She shivered. Great.
She sat very still (or as still as she could manage) as the male circled her but her thoughts ran a mile a minute. Was he...twitching? Did that mean he was stressed out and angry oh goddess oh goddess oh goddess if she lived she would give thanks to Sylvia every day wait what? Was that his tail? She flinched.
"O-oh, this rock here?" She laughed nervously. "You don't want this silly old thing here, do you? Just like me, a silly old rock, I mean thing, I mean surely I-I'm not worth bothering your important self about!" The desire to hoard the precious sparkly was decaying by the second, and now she was glancing around, looking for the best escape path.

Vallormace couldn't hide the wince as such pretty fur was covered in mud and water. Ewww.... Tadpole water. He did however, clear his throat and try to give her a very dashing smile. Tried. It probably looked like he was in pain. Smiles were hard.
"No... well... if you want the rock you can have it. " Really. There were so many rocks here and there that one missing wouldn't be too bad. Another one will eventually fill its space. Or it'll be a spot for a toad to sit in on a hot day. No real big deal. This was thought of after he caught the hint that she wanted to run away.
" There are better shinies on the other side of the pond though. " he fibbed and sat down on the bank, out of the mud, at a polite distance away once he was finished his 'inspection' of this woman...thing...pretty blue vixen. "What's a pretty thing like you doing out in the denser part of the forest anyways? " Smoooooooth.

He was backing off? He was backing off. He wasn't going to fight her! Yay!
Seirion cautiously reached out and scooped out the rock from its indent in the mud before answering. More shinies? Huh. This was his territory, she supposed, he'd know all about it. "Well...I didn't mean to invade your territory or anything," she said. Lead off with an apology first, it was only polite and prudent. "I was just passing through." Probably not wise to mention that she had no den of her own yet.
She carefully stood up and shook the mud off her paws, taking the chance to study the stranger out of the corner of her eye. He didn't look mean, by any means. She leaned over and gave him one last look before delicately taking the rock in her mouth and leaping onto the bank herself. Quite gracefully too - if the mud on her paws hadn't made her almost slip into a fall.
"Urk!" Th rock fell from her jaws as she set about cleaning her paws and pretending that she wasn't blushing.

His head tilted to the side when she mentioned she was just passing through. Really? In this forest? Mental dialogue being what it was, Vallor looked around the glen, an eyebrow ridge raised in suspicion. She might be a spy sent from his neighbor to take his lawn. That won't do.
Though she was a pretty spy...and very clumsy. Heh. All the more reason to totally show off how fantastically awesome he was! And just! And cool ... like and stuff. But how? "Well... I guess you can rest here before you move on back to wherever the heck you're going to. " A lone wanderer was quite suspicious. Especially a female... maybe he could snatch her up and form a femme harem? Ooooh that'd be nifty!
and a lot of work. But the shiny rock caught his eye. Vallor stared at it for some time, poked it with his nose to get a better scent.. then ... Well flopped onto his side and basked in the sun. "I'm Vallormace... and you are? " he purred as he rolled onto his stomach, stretching out onto the sweet bank grass. Paws reached up and closer to the vixen~ Hmm...maybe he could convince her to stay~. For the night anyways.

"Really?" Seirion had not expected that offer at all. She perked up. It was pretty late in the afternoon, anyway, and aimless wandering can only take someone so far. But..."Well, I wouldn't want to trouble you," she murmured, ducking her head. "Vallormace? I'm Seirion. Pleased to meet you."
She studied him as he...sniffed?...at the rock (HER rock!), then fluffed her tail over her front paws as he moved next to her. She leaned over to sniff his scent. Yes, this definitely was the one who marked this area. What a nice red coat, she noted absently. "So how far do you control around here?"
Maybe he knew of some regions that weren't under control around here. At this point, she'd settle for a pile of rocks if she could call it home.

"Oh yes~ " he said with a grin as wide as a crocodiles. " There are wolverines out and bears... Wolves too. It would be a shame to the world if such a pretty tai--...thing as you to be lost to them." He blinked, "thought the rocks should have something to fear. "
With a lazy yawn, he stayed on his back, front paws fluffed onto his chest. " Runs a little south of the pond and falls..and west all to the cliffs to the churning waves of ocean. " He frowned, thinking how to explain his very small, but long sliver. It was very pretty in the evening. " The sky turns red when the sun goes down down by the cliffs. I've been looking for a way down to the sand below, but... Haven't found it yet. There are some very shiny objects down there. "
he found himself to be rambling, then sprang to his feet and puffed himself out. " Lovely name, Seirion. Now! Onward! To the rocks! .....Maybe..." he purred and intentionally brushed against her. He jumped onto the lower bank of the pond and trotted around, hopping over the poor excuse for a beaver dam to get to the other side where the really shiny rocks and shells were. He would wait, wag his tail, and admire the pretty purple girl.

She listened intently, head cocked to one side, ears perked. Wolverines? Wolves!? If Vallormace was paying attention, he'd notice her eyes growing wide and the fur standing on the back of her neck. Maybe this wasn't a great place to settle...but at his description of territory she paid very close attention anyways. If worst came to worst, she supposed she could just move north of the falls.
She smiled at the description of the cliffs. "That sounds...lovely." Evening was her favorite time. The prey falling asleep, the breeze bringing scents to her nose, the sky greying and stars coming out...
She yelped as the male brushed against her, fluffing out her fur (which she quickly licked to settle it back in place). "Wh-what?" But he was already past her and moving to the other bank. With a sigh, she got up and stretched from her sitting posture (oops, almost forgot her rock - with a swift nab it was safely in her mouth). He could stare all he liked as she gingerly stepped across the dam and to the other side. "'ho, whe' ah aah 'e ocks?" Then a snort at the "words" coming out of her mouth, and a giggle. There was no way this rock was leaving her side, not while she'd been given permission to keep it. Maybe this fellow wasn't such a bad sort after all.

Oh she was just so... EDIBLE! It was the way she floofed so floofily cute! Preadators? Floof! Touching? FLOOF! Ha! He could do this all day...
Though the sun was getting low in the clearing. Though it was still quite warm. He blinked as she asked him a question with her mouth full of rock. Dirty mouth? Clean it up with.... "Can't hear yah, Peachy... You've got something in your teeth." he grinned, hopping a few spaces away. This would have looked dreamy and awesome if he hadn't got caught up impressing the girl. A misstep on the grass and...
SPLASH! Down Vallormace went into the water next to all the shiny rocks and shells brought from the nutcrabs. He just blinked and stared up at rock mouth, ears held in utter shame and looking hideous with the red fur plastered against his skin. " ... i found the shiny...." he muttered, just wanting to melt into a puddle of water.

"eachy? 'Ahs oh i-" SPLASH!
She just stared at Vallormace for a moment - the male who'd been so smooth a second ago and now covered with mud - then burst into laughter. The rock was launched from her mouth as her sides heaved and she shuddered on her feet. Any thoughts of him being intimidating were shot out the metaphorical window.
"Yeah, you did." She chuckled as she hopped up and sat down next to him in the water. Hey, she was already pond-soaked, what would another soaking do to her? "Here, let me - " She reached out a paw and attempted to scrape some of that mud from his crimson coat. "So this is your hoard, huh?" she asked. "Very nice." Ugg, her paw was dirty again, and she'd just cleaned it a moment ago. She shook it a bit and dipped it in the water, absently placing it on one particularly large snail shell and rolling it back and forth.

The laughter that bubbled forth from the vixen only reminded Vallormace too well of what a state he was in. Ego shattered, he hunched even more in the cold water, pathetically attempting to blend into the pool around him. It didn't work too well.
Though it was nice to have company, even if she was dryer than he was. He shot her a very embarassed glare, hunching even more and leaning ever away. " Murph..." he muttered when she attempted to scrape some of the plastered mud off his coat. He could do it himself! He was a manly man! This was degrading and ... and! and! ... he couldn't think of anything else other than to snort and look away. A toad sat nearby. Vallormace mentally dared the thing to puff its throat. And the toad blinked its eyes in that creepy amphibious way.
He was distracted when she mentioned his hoard of shnies. Oh yes.. The shells and rocks... " Yah... Kinda... a hobby really... " And it was. He wasn't invested in them. She could so totally take one the shells and he'd be fine. Another would eventually replace it, and of course it would be far cooler than the one that had been taken.
And.. in a very smooth style he flopped onto her. "oops~ "
