It was still early in the day and the sun had not yet warmed up this side of the mountain. A small bird was chirping in a thorny bush, but there were no other sign of life until a large white lioness appeared out of nowhere, scaring the bird away. It was always a weird feeling to teleport from the mountain of the Gods to the mortal world, and Veri liked to make the transition easier by aiming for a mountain. She shook herself and started to groom the otherworldly snow from her fur and wings. She was in a good mood, and a slight scent of fresh blood surrounded her. It had been unexpected to meet Nemanja again, but she was very pleased that she had run into him.
His presence was oddly refreshing and she felt much more equipped to deal with the world after having her feelings numbed by his presence for a while. Oh, she felt everything again now, but it was like the scents of the earth after a rain. Richer, fresher feelings somehow. The same feelings, but washed clean from not being used for a while...
She'd clean up and maybe allow herself to adjust to the different temperature here before running or teleporting closer to the place where she had agreed to meet the mortal Mith'ando. It might be cowardly, but she did not plan to expose herself as a Goddess to him. She didn't need that kind of attention right now. Sure, she had promised to help him, but not in an attempt to lure him into worshipping her. She did expect to get something in return, but she figured it would be easier to talk to him about his views on life if he thought he was talking to a fellow mortal. And when they got to the pride she might even try asking those living there about life and death. The journey there would be practice.

Kucheza Kivuli made her way through the trees to a new spot to dance. She always found a new place to dance cause she felt it helped her express herself differently and not to mention stumble upon new things. She loved collecting bones and feathers or unique odd looking stones. She was often criticized by her father when she brought dead animals back. It made her angry, why did they care what she found. Besides he always said that everything has a purpose and a spirit. Kucheza just believed that nothing should go to waste then. It made sense to her at least, and besides she didn't like being around her family much. Her sister was so frail and weak and her brother was to overly protective and too much like her father. It was just something about the way they lived that made her sick she didn't understand their perspectives of the world. She made her way pass a tree with a black bird in it, she looked up admiring it's dark feathers and beady black eyes. It studied and watched her back before pushing off the branch and flying into the cool breeze. With the breeze Kucheza picked something else up a scent. It was a scent she was familiar and rather fond of, blood. She made her way towards the scent using the wind to guide her, as she neared she could hear something. It sounded like someone was here and she no longer felt alone. Kucheza was never afraid of the unknown and she made her way into the open to the sound. "Hello there" she said her voice a dark hauntingly beautiful tone. She eyed the stranger in front of her curious who they were, where they were from, and why they smelt like fresh blood. She guessed she would find out.

Veri had used this mountainside as a stepping stone between the worlds many times in the past, and she had never met anyone living there except smaller animals that never tended to stick around. How long since she used this place last? Could be years or months... Perhaps it was unwise of her to assume that it was still as deserted as ever, but she couldn't possibly keep track of every group of mortals that decided to relocate.
She was still in the process of preening her wings when she realised she was no longer alone. It was no use to try to pass as a mortal now, she assumed, so she did the next best thing and tried to look as large and imposing as possible as she turned toward the one that had greeted her. It was just a lion cub, and Veri wondered if the little one had assumed she was just another lioness or if she was in fact cocky enough to greet an unfamiliar Goddess.
Being a Goddess she was larger than a regular lioness, and with wings slightly unfolded she occupied even more space. It would have been even more impressive if her wings had been larger, but it wasn't the size that mattered if you knew to use what you had. And if the sight of a huge winged lioness wouldn't startle the dark cub before her, she figured her claws would do the trick. Walking around with unsheathed and slightly bloody claws seemed to be off putting to those of sensitive disposition for some reason. Her snake was not with her, but Veri was confident in her own ability to be intimidating.
"Greetings mortal," she said in a stony voice, hoping that the small cub would just skitter away and leave her alone. That was usually what happened at least.

Kucheza eyed the lioness as she spoke, she had sensed something different about her and she was correct. This lioness as she had not at first realized was indeed no mortal but a goddess. Kucheza's eyes wandered over her black wings that were so beautifully decorated with red...or blood. Her larger frame was white with some red markings on her body. And she did not fail to take in the size of her claws coated in what seemed to be fresh blood.
Most lions, and especially cubs, would perhaps be afraid of this female. She could just imagine her frail sister crying as her protective brother hovered over her defensively, hiding the fear behind his eyes. However Kucheza wasn't like them, she wasn't like any other lion, or so she liked to think. She eyed the goddess with admirable eyes, taking in the power this lion had.
She was jealous of the power this goddess had, to be feared by many. She wanted to be like that, she wanted to be immortal. Kucheza took a few steps closer to the goddess inhaling the scents that surrounded her. She looked up into the females silver eyes as she spoke"What name do you go by?" she asked curiously not taking notice to the females tone of voice nor attempts to intimidate her.
She was infatuated with this goddess and the powers she had and it would not be easy to chase her away. Kucheza was never one to step off a path once it was set. She kept her eyes fixated on the female taking note of the items in full detail. The brown rope with ruby red beads and silver feathers and teeth.

It soon became evident that her usual intimidation tactic was not working on this cub. Veri noticed the shine in her eyes as the cub ventured closer instead of shrinking away. You could practically feel the scent of her excitement. Oh, bother. She was one of those... They usually weren't this young, as far as she remembered. Since Veri usually tried not to reveal herself to mortals she was not used to deal with them in situations like this. She wasn't rude, however, and she decided to humour the cub for a little while. Her powers would not pose any danger to the cub. Yet.
"I'm called Veri," she said in a resigned voice, "Goddess of Blood."
It was slightly unnerving to be watched like this, but to teleport or fly away would be too much like fleeing. She was a Goddess, for Mdoki's sake, she was not afraid of cubs! Not even those that stared... She briefly wondered if her snake would have been able to swallow a cub this size. Possibly. But that was not an option. It had been a long while since she killed anyone on purpose, and she was not about to start now.

Kucheza grinned as the goddess spoke, the domain only suited her too well. She did not know much about gods only from the stories her father told her, he had met many in his life time. She wondered if anyone at home would believe that she had met a goddess. No. Instead she would not tell them anything, this would be another one of her little secrets. "Hmm Veri..." she said repeating the name as the word stuck in her mind. Her eyes already showed less excitement in them and rather started to show something else. Her mind was working behind her ice blue eyes. Thinking and conjuring up thoughts and ideas.
"My name is Kucheza Kivuli, call me Kucheza though" she said as she walked a bit closer and around the lioness studying her large size. So many questions she wanted to ask but she did not wish to annoy or scare her off so soon. She sniffed at the blood taking in the scent and looked at the goddess with questioning eyes. She gave a slight grin and chuckle as she stepped back and sat down.
The silence was nice to her, perhaps awkward for the lioness but that was just how Kucheza was. Sometimes she felt she didn't have to say anything at all.

"Kucheza Kivuli," she repeated and nodded in greeting, "Pleased to meet you Kivuli."
She wasn't all that pleased, but she did have some manners. Perhaps Nemanja had rubbed some off on her while she chewed on his tail as a cub. She grinned at this thought, without realising that this might encourage the cub. It was silent now, but still watching her. Veri sat stiffly facing the cub Kivuli, unsure what to do next. She re-folded her wings, and then sheathed and unsheathed her claws a couple of times. The cub stayed silent. Pro: no annoying talking. Con: she couldn't possibly know what on earth the girl was thinking, and why she was looking at her like that. That in itself was annoying.
"So..." she began, when the silence really started to get on her nerves. "Was there anything you needed."
She had hardly said it before she regretted her choice of words.

She was pleased when the great goddess said she was pleased to meet her. A smile spread across her face at the words, whether they were genuine or not. She watched as the lioness sat in silence just taking her time to re-fold her wings. They were so beautiful to Kucheza with the dark black feathers that were visibly stained red. And her claws as the flexed them were so powerful and sharp. She envied them so much, they looked deadly to her and she could only imagine the damage the could cause as they raked through someones pelt. Finally she spoke up and she listened carefully. The goddess had offered her something and immediately she soaked them in. Her smile turned into a grin as she thought about the answer.
"What are your powers Veri?" she asked the goddess with quizzing eyes. She was not afraid to hear the answer, no matter how gruesome. She knew what to expect, then again she was asking the goddess of blood. Perhaps one of her powers could be useful to Kucheza Kivuli, maybe something she could leave her with for life or at least for a little.
The thought made her paws tingle and she couldn't help but push them into the ground a bit, feeling her little claws dig into the dirt earth. She felt more connected to this new stranger then her own family.

Now, this was actually becoming more interesting. The child knew about Gods, that much was clear, and she seemed to know that they had different powers since she wanted to know Veri's. She paused to think before answering, but then made a mental shrug. Why not tell her the truth? It could hardly do any harm as far as she was concerned.
"Mortals bleed easier in my presence," she said, keeping her face blank and devoid of emotions, "And I can also make them bleed if they displease me."
There, those were the more gruesome aspects of her domain. Making others bleed. She could enjoy it too, if she did it on her own choosing. She forgot to mention the scent of blood that always seemed to surround her, but it was so natural to Veri that she usually didn't think about it at all.
"I can also give my blood to save someone worthy," she added in a grave voice that suggested that not many could be considered worthy to her, "As well as the usual... Flying... Things like that."
She didn't elaborate what the usual things were, assuming that Kivuli would either know already, or ask if she wanted to know.

She had never met a god or goddess before however her father has and he has spoken many stories of them to her. Usually her siblings were fast asleep and her father would tell her those tales to try and help her ease into her dreams. As Veri spoke to her Kucheza listened with eager eyes and ears. She was curious to if it was true if they bled easier in her process, she almost contemplated testing it out but then thought better of it.
She looked at the goddess and gave a large grin as she spoke about making them bleed if she was displeased. She could not imagine what it would be like to have the power to make someone suffer at your leisure. This must have meant the goddess was not displeased with Kucheza, she looked at herself, she was surely not bleeding anywhere. Then she spoke about giving her blood to someone worthy, at these words Kucheza was fully intrigued. She was curious about this power especially. The flying part was cool too but she was mainly interested in the giving of blood.
"What does giving your blood do to the person worthy? and have you ever found someone so worthy?" she asked curiously very careful to make her tone calm as to not annoy the lioness with her questions. She wanted to know as much as she could about this goddess, she had found a sort of fascination with her and her powers.
Kucheza sat down closer to the lioness as she waited for a reply, she didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable but rather get a closer look at her. The stench of blood was stronger here and came off in powerful waves off her pelt. She twitched her nose waiting for it to adjust to the smells but it never did, she however did not mind the smell. It just reminded her of the fresh kill her father brought home.

Veri tilted her head and studied the cub as she asked about her ability to give her blood away. Well, well... She hadn't expected that. It was interesting, really. Mortals came in many shapes and sizes and there was no domain to give a clue to what made them tick. Gods were simpler in some ways, not as complex. Hmm... Perhaps this was not a total waste of time. She had gotten herself into this mess because she was curious about mortals after all.
"I only give to those in dire need," she said, trying to think of a way to explain this to someone that wasn't as familiar with blood as she was, "I'll try to explain. You know that there is blood inside every living creature? Rip their throat or break their hide and it will come gushing out."
She looked expectantly at the cub, to try to see if she grasped this concept. The cub must eat, and it was usually a messy business, so this part shouldn't be hard to understand she hoped.
"If there is not enough blood left inside the creature will die," she continued, "Sometimes quickly like an antelope with a slashed throat, sometimes more slowly. If a creature is injured but is starting to heal it might still die if there's not enough blood left inside, even if they are no longer bleeding. I could give some of my blood to replace what is lost in a situation like that."
