It seems that as the years go by, the importance of one's virginity becomes less and less important to the population as a whole. I have watched girlfriends and guy friends alike throw it away like it's nothing... Which leaves me to wonder if I am one of the only people in the whole freakin' planet who values abstinance and plans on saving it until marriage...?
This over-sexed world we live in makes it nearly impossible to stay pure in thoughts, and very very hard to stay pure physically....
But one thing that digs at the back of my mind all the time... How many GUYS stay pure and save themselves for their future wives? I can count on one hand the amount of girlfriends I have that are like me, in the sense that they plan on saving themselves, but when it comes to guys... I can't think of a single guy who isn't dying to get rid of his virginity...!!
I wanna hear your thoughts on purity, even if you disagree with it all. It'd be cool to see what fellow christians think about the topic

Well, personally, I am an atheist, so nothing stops me from enjoying safe, consent sex and having while I am at it.
Having sex has it's health benefits, too.

I used to want to do nothing but have sex idk what it is once I hit 13 or 14 thats all I cared about. I've never done anything with anyone thankfully because the most successful relationship I had was a long distance one. I'm 19 now and I think about it still but a lot less than even last year. I value my virginity I really do, and with my luck I won't be losing it any time soon (unless I go get a 2 dollar prostitute which in my county are a dime a dozen) which I am better than that.

I don't want to do something in the spur of the moment and then look back and say "Now why the hell did I do that?" If I think that a boyfriend is "the one" so I have sex with him and then in the future I realize he's not the one that's a huge mistake. I mean, sure, there's condoms and birth control and stuff, but those don't always work. Suppose the birth control didn't work and I get pregnant by someone I don't even want to be with for the rest of my life? I'll still love the child, but I'll always feel sad that there is a little piece of the kid that's related to the one I just had sex with and didn't even think about what I was doing. I'll feel sad because the father probably won't ever meet the kid and will probably just go on doing other girls and leaving them as soon as they get pregnant.
So, to answer your question, I do think abstinence is important.
