I like the system of a down but....Some of there songs are soo political. And it kinda bugs me because almost all there songs are about how the USA government is bad and *WAHHH*... cry I think they should give it a rest. The world isnt gonna change anytime soon.

They should just sings songs about other things like..Pogo,love, mushroom people, or Crazy s**t i dont care.. Sugar was a good song because they werent talking about the government.

WOAH! Hold up, FIRST OF ALL! Sugar was pretty much about political issuses but it just wasn't a big "HEY THIS SONG IS POLITICAL" Watch the music video.
Second, They arn't gonna change there ways, never have never will. This is there passion. They arn't gonna stop singing about political issues cause basically thats what they are about. There one of the very few bands in the world that acctually have a meaning behind everything they do.
But I respect your opinion. 3nodding

Much love, cept in cuba, if system of a down lived there they would be in jail till they sagged

I kind of understand what you mean.... sometimes it can get a little bit like "Oh, ANOTHER song about war? Well done, Serjie... how.... original. -_-"
But then that part of my brain gets slapped by the other 90%, and I remember how awesome every single song is. 3nodding
These sort of songs need to be written anyway. You say the world isn't going to change anytime soon? How much longer will that time be if they STOP writing these political songs?
Change is only ever brought about by making a stand and doing things! The world aint gonna change itself, now is it? rolleyes

Sugar is a pretty political song, and it also rests on other issues.

And by "Pogo", I hope you mean Bounce, which is actually about one of the saddest times of Daron (I think)'s life.

If my life was about nothing but sex, I'd be pretty depressed gonk
(I do mean that seriously. Not alot of people understand the concept of sexual nightmare)

I don't like how political they get, sometimes. I mean I can listen to BYOB fine, but Boom! is just... I tend to just push the "next" button when Boom! comes on the CD player... Temper wasn't good either...

I love their music, and I'm as avid a fan as anyone else, but they make mistakes like the rest of us.

Though, when they are good, they are goooooooood O_O

Y'arrrgh, I be the thread pirate. pirate

A lot of their songs ARE political, but not so much about the united states. Maybe their older stuff, but now I think it's more about Armenia.

Also it's good to have constructive criticism, but nothing's really going to get old, per se, if they do it differently each album. There's still variation, no matter what.

I admit Boom! kind of depresses me.... It pisses me off sometimes when I hear those REALLY political type songs because in a sense it can be taken as being a bit hypocritical... I don't know how people can sing about the evils of modern america when they're big rock stars...

I mean, I know Serj & co. aren't whoring themselves to MTV or anything and they probably don't have massive "bling cribs" or whatever... but I'm sure they must still have a pretty awesome lifestyle, and I heard they all drive those huge evil monster cars that are killing rainforests around the globe... sweatdrop

But um.....off topic in the extreme, so I'll shut up now.

Judgig from the way Serj is, I highly doubt(yet I could be wrong) that he would drive a H3 or any other type o monster car.

I know... I can't picture him behind the wheel of one of those things at all... but i'm highly gullible and tend to believe what people tell me. I'm sure I read it in some interview or something like that.... damn my terrible memory. stare

I do not care what any of you say.

System Of A Down is not a political band.

My opinion.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 09, 2006 2:59 pm

I won't say your opinion is bad, but I certainly don't think all they talk about is politics. They just talk about daily things, you know? neutral Advertizing, orgies (daily, yes XD)... How 'political' is that? Sure, that's part of what they talk about, but I don't think they overdo it. At least, it's my opinion.
