OK, so apparently a show called Durarara is going to be replacing Kekkaishi on Adult Swim. Alot of people seem to find this as a big deal?

If I still watched TV I might... I kinda stopped following all of the anime on TV. Not sure why, maybe because after Toonami went away I was devastated. Also, InuYasha needs to just end already.

Zero the Crimson Dowager I'm not sure what the issue is, one bad show is just being replaced with another. o 3 o Not a fan of either of them I take it? I hate Vic Mignogna as a VA, he always sounds the same no matter what character he voices. As soon as I heard him in Kekaishi I winced, but managed to get through the first episode. Then I realized I just didn't like the show, in the middle of the second episode, so I didn't bother with the rest.
Durarara! was the same, but not as bad. I watched the entire series out of pure stubbornness, but didn't find it that entertaining.
There are way better shows out there than what [AS] is offering us, it makes me wonder how they choose their lineup. DD:

Aside from recently on Gaia I've never heard of Durarara! before. I'll admit some of the shows (like the ones they just keep playing over and over) are rather tiresome, but not all of their shows are bad. I rather liked kekkaishi, plus Fullmetal alchemist and Bleach are good (at least in my opinion)

Kekkaishi isn't all that bad, I just think it has more of a childish tone to it. More directed for little kids, like Byakugan, that the kids all get excited over and such. I thought Durarara! was pretty good, although, I kind of oppose the English version, it's not really the same. The newer anime dubs kind of suck, compared to FMA and Bleach. They did a better job there. Although I kind of disagree about Durarara! being bad. It was really good, but kind of like Code Geass, it takes some getting into a complex types of plots isn't for everyone.

It may just be that his voice in particularly irritating to 'me' so I notice.
Now I 'do' like FMA, it's a great story and Bleach I use to like. But when series go on for hundreds of episodes and there's a ridiculous amount of filler, I just give up. :T

You're probably right about it being aimed toward children, but why show it on [AS] then when all the other shows are geared toward adolescents and above?
And I can't watch that many dubbed animes. Not that I'm trying to be a purest or anything, it's just that the pool for talented VA's is small and I don't like hearing the same voices over and over again.
Also, Code Geass was an awesome show! I loved it, but how does Durarara compare? I don't think the plot was 'that' complicated and there was none of the excitement that CG had so where was the appeal?
This is all my personal opinion of course. 3nodding

Dowager: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I don't know, maybe they didn't have enough money to try and air another show. No, it's fine. I can completely understand that. It is very small, and hearing the same voices can get tiring, but I hthink there should be the option of adopting japanese voices into some animes rather than trying to change them. Like Kuroshitsuji, one of the best animes, I've seen, like Code Geass and D. Gray-man. The top 3 animes Those are the top three aniems I've ever seen. I loved the show as well, I can understand that. I doesn't really compare, but the plot was more on a serious role, I think, and if you were into a personal, more realistic, but somewhat supernatural type of anime, then maybe you'd like it, but that doesn't apply to many people. Not many people like or understand the point of an anime that close to life, the little bit of supernatural was like the spice in curry, I guess. It's really not all that bad, I enjoyed it, because it was several different stories in one. It may not be that great to you or many other people, but the fact that someone could pull through that type of show, different from most other types of animes, made it interesting to me. I guess that's where I get the likeness from Code Geass from, the fact that it's different from most other shows.
Yes, personal opinon is good. It's what makes life go around and people from going insane because without an opinion, things tend to get dull. rolleyes

Odd, I rather enjoy the whole..."Why does that voice sound familiar....Oh that's ......." I thought it was rather humorous when it took over a year to realize he played the voice of Ikkaku in Bleach, but I knew the person who played Sasori's voice in Naruto almost instantly. Yeah FMA does have a good story. That's a shame about not liking Bleach over it's fillers, but to each their own.
