The day was over now and the sun was setting over to the left of him. It was a beautiful sight one he was enjoying as he knew what was to come. Nightfall spread across the sky bringing out millions of twinkling balls of gas which he had found out had been called stars by a passing lioness on her way to lands unknown. He rested upon his front paws as Zarion looked his fill into the night sky. Many stars shined down upon his current laying area, though you couldn't tell he was there as he blended real well with the dark.
Lazying about on a tree branch he let his tail dangle swinging it back and forth every so often. Deep in thought Zarion wondered about his lot in life. Many of his companions had moved on, wheither it were from mating to finding prides of their own. While he... he was still continued the same way from cubhood. It was rare to spot him smiling or laughing as according to him, and if you did then you were of the lucky few. His golden eyes gleamed into the night, like little beacons of light among the darkness.

Night had fallen, the lands were silent and she was hungry. Having spent most of the day slumbering or watching the world go by, her apetite had finally peeked and coaxed her down from her perch. This was typical of the leopardess, who often hunted at night when the vast majority of creatures were more sloth like and easy to catch. In the grand scheme of things, this particular leopardess was not much of a worker and as a consequence - tended to favour the easiest options.
Suffice to say, if there was a fight, then she would take her leave... Disagreements required too much energy.
Alas, this evening she had a good feeling and sincerely doubted she would encounter any disagreements. As a result, the leopardess puttered forward and headed in the direction of the plains. She had a gameplan to say the least; she would survey the plains and see what the current atmosphere was like, if the preybeasts were still do alert then she would leave them be and head to the river. Either way, the exercise would be good for her, regardless of what food she elected to dine on.
Unaware of Zarion on any immediate level (he simply blended in too well), the leopardess proceeded on towards her destination...

Zarion was so relaxed and enjoying his time amongst the quiet that a foreign scent hit him immediately. Slowly his head turned, ears perked up on his head, and he took a deep breath of something that was simply put: divine. Not too strong but something that was welcoming for him, a female leopardess. The scent itself was something he had never smelt before, therefore, he concluded: Stranger.
Caution made his approach slow, it wasn't uncommon for female leopardess to attack unknown males for merely being in the presence of them. After stalking for sometime Zarion decided to come out of hiding when it was clear that the unknown female wasn't going to do anything rash. "Hello." His words were simple and to the point; which was to make himself known. He stepped out into a stray moon beam and waited to see how the other would react.

Her powers of observation left much to be desired and if he hadn't said a word, it was highly likely that she would have completely missed the leopard as she walked by. Fortunately for Tia, Zarion had elected to introduce himself, or more accurately, he had taken measures to make himself known. It saved her the hassle of becoming startled, thus preserving some energy and consequently, she took an immediate liking to him. Oh, one couldn't be so bold as to claim she liked him in any deep and meaningful way but she did have a good feeling about him - after all, it wasn't often that another individual was considerate enough to do something so thoughtful!
Alas, it still took her a number of seconds to locate him and if it hadn't been for the stray moon beams and the flicker of his markings against him, it was highly unlikely she would have spotted him without considerable delay. A momentary pause followed as her gaze fixed on the darker male and then she hazarded a smile, taking an opportunity to assess Zarion from her vantage point. She made no move to approach but she didn't retreat either, consequently, one could be safe to assume that this was a good sign.
At the very least, she wouldn't claw his eyes out!
"Good evening," she replied and gave a small nod. "I didn't see you there, that's quite the talent."

He watched and listened as the female acknowledged his presence but came no further. Zarion stayed where he was as well opting to not scare her off by crowding and he also didn't feel like fighting off a pissed of female by cornering her. "Yes I always did have freakishly good sight from birth." He spoke bluntly as he tilted his head as he observed the other female. The smile, though it looked somewhat forced, suited her face and he found himself answering her smile with one of his own.
"I don't think I have ever seen you around here before, I do have a good memory afterall. I never forget a face, names on the other hand are a bit trickier for me." He paused to sit and make himself comfier. "I am called Zarion, it is nice to meet you female." He was trying to make conversation, it had been sometime since another creature had made contact with him as he was mostly a loner.

There were bound to be feminists in the world who took offence at his accidental objectification, after all, the simplest of words could be offensive depending on the individual. Fortunately for the leopard, she was a female that regarded this as a total waste of energy and she had the intelligence to recognise that he had only made an observation - for a start she was a female and he didn't know who she was. Granted there were probably more polite or subtle ways of striking up a conversation but she'd met more abrasive males in her life. In fact, by their standards he was actually on the middle ground - socially a little awkward, but not deliberately exasperating.
"I'm not one for exploration," she replied after a short delay, taking a moment to seat herself and to coil her tail around her paws. "I usually stay at home but I decided to go for a walk this evening - well, actually that was a couple of evenings ago," she mused and shook her head. It really had been a spontaneous decision on her part to explore but she was beginning to miss the 'monotanous' life that existed at home. It was comfortable, it was warm and it was easy!
"Mmm, regardless, my name is Tia'Moyo but most simply call me Tia," she introduced herself at last and tilted her head to the side. "I'm assuming that if you know everyone in these parts then you are definitely a local, no?"

"Hm," Zarion stared off in to the distance enjoying the earth as it welcomed the night. "I see, so you are lost?" Maybe he misunderstooding but the way she had worded the 'few nights ago' seemed like she took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up where she was now. "Nice to meet you Tai'Moyo and to answer your question yes I am a local. Well, the rogue lands are quite huge so I technically only know felines in a small area which is from the waterfall you may have passed to the Peke'Na lands. So about 1,400 feet of it if you wanted to know numbers."
Zarion paused in his babbling, he usually was not like this...talking. "If you are lost maybe I could help you find your way to the right path?"

Was she lost?
Even she took a few moments to ponder over this query! However, after a short while she concluded that she wasn't. She may not have known precisely where she was, but she was aware of the direction that she had come from. With that in mind, she was capable of back tracking to her previous locations and from then on, back home. It was simple, but it was also logical and had served her well a number of times! So no, she wasn't quite lost, just a little...wayward?
"Oh no, I'm not lost," she waved a paw in the air as if to dismiss this point and nodded towards the way she had come. "I just didn't expect myself to wander so far, it's not every day I go exploring the beyond," she explained. It was at this point that she set her paw back down and smiled, her eyes creasing just a touch. "I do thank you for the concern though, the offer is appreciated even if I can find my way back..." she concluded. However, as he made reference to certain locals she did have to stare at him in a puzzled fashion and shook her head.
"Peke'Na...?"

"Oh I see," He spoke while nodding his head a smile spread across his face softening it just a tad. " That is good then nothing like getting lost and not being able to find your way home." He came closer to her enjoy the sudden scent of her as it was soft and feminine. He felt relaxed...more relaxed than he had been in a very long while. " Yes, the Peke Na belong to the wild dogs it is their lands in which they live. I am what you call a traveler, I enjoy meeting and seeing new things that is how I know some of the lands out there."
He flicked his tail and watched her in the corner of his eye with interest. "I am assume you have just traveled the rogue lands only which is absolutely fine as I know some that enjoy these lands most." He also wondered if he should bring on the charm as he was very interested in her lovely self... but he was never that good with flirting or mating or so he had been told. Those thoughts made him frown before he shook off those thoughts. Oh well no one was perfect.

"I see," The leopardess replied as he explained the identity and origin of the Peke'Na. The whole issue of prides was still a bit of a foreign concept to the female but she was beginning to understand what they were. While she might have prefered ger own company for the majority of the time, she could appreciate that there were a number of creatures in the world that thrived on a sense of community. These Wild Dogs were one of those animals and while she'd only ever met one, even that female had expressed a desire to find more permanent company in passing. It seemed that the further she wandered from home, the more like preybeasts everything became.
Everything had a pride, pack or herd!
"To get lost I would have to stop walking in a straight line," she said at last and offered a warm smile. No longer regarding the male as a threat, she didn't budge an inch as he came closer and instead, tilted her head to the side curiously. "I don't meander much, I only went out for a brief walk to find some gossip, although the 'brief' has become much longer than intended," she conceded with a small chuckle. Alas, they had thoroughly beaten the subject of her wandering into the ground and instead of pursuing it further, the female raised a paw and pointed it directly at his chest.
"As a nomad you're bound to have interesting stories, no?" she continued after a small delay, shuffling her weight to make herself more comfortable. Honestly, now that she'd sat down she didn't really feel inclined to move much and it would take a considerable amount of time to motivate herself again. This in mind, why shouldn't she simply hang around for a little while until the male got bored? After all, she had left home to find company and gossip!
"Why don't you tell me some?" she asked softly, her eyes creasing in a smile...

He settled his body in closer to Tia enjoying the fact that she enjoyed listening to his stories. Usually most animals thought that he was full of hot air or just indulged his need for talking. He answered her smile with one of his own and than began to speak about most of his travels in his youth all the way to his current times. Some were funny, some serious and he found himself laughter. Actually laughing! along with her and before he knew it the night had turned to day. Yawning he turned to see Tia watching him with droopy eyes and he suggested sleeping was in order. He moved his body in a familiar resting position when he felt the warm of Tia's body settle along side him.
This was the life.
END.
