Uumi sat near the path that lead up and down pride rock, he was waiting for Kiuma so that they could leave. He had no one to say goodbye to other than his parents, so he was ready to start his adventure.
The last few days had made him increasingly uneasy, something told him things had been going horribly wrong, or would be. He had not told this to his sister though, why bother?

Kiuma padded slowly down the side of Priderock, her steps heavy. Her bright eyes were dark as she started at the ground before her paws. Bones clicked in the necklace that hung around her neck, and she carried a string of more boned in her jaws.Near the top, Sarabi watched the two silently, her eyes sad. Still, she couldn't let them leave with out watching, even though the sight made her heart bleed. Sighing, the golden queen curled her tail around her paws, prepared to sit till they were out of sight. Coming level with her brother, Kiuma dropped the string at his paws, pausing to lick her chops with a sigh. "There, those are the bones you wanted. Mother made my necklace for me..." She shifted self-consciously, hearing the bones click again. "So... I'm ready to go when you are, Uumi..."

He eyed her a moment and one of the crooked smiles split his maw for a moment. "It adds charm to you." He finally said, excited to finally be gone. He let his expression fall back to neutral and slipped the bone-bracelette onto his paw.
"And I am ready, as well sister." He didn't look up at their mother, he couldn't. He'd said goodbye, and now he must look forward. Not backward. He began to pad, heading the quickest route toward the boarders. His quick trot slowed after a bit though, his breathing already hard. Slow going, this would be. He glanced toward his twin, wondering if everything was alright.

Kiuma shrugged, sloughing off the weighty feelings like water down her back. There'd be time enough to be homesick later, when she was done exploring the world. Her own crooked smile slid onto her maw as she trotted to catch up, bones rattling with her light, dancing steps. Reaching level with her brother, she slowed and took up the steady pace that would strain him the least, yet get the most speed. This was comfortable and familiar, walking with her twin. It would be a comfort to her in the long miles ahead, when nothing was familiar.

Uumi shifted a little, indeed this was a good pace. "Kiuma.." He hesitated, he didn't want to ask for favors. "We have to.. to stop somewhere, I need.. to know something." He wasn't about to say what. "Or see someone, rather. So do you think we can change out plans a little? head utmost south, to a ..newer pride?" He watched her out of the corner of his eye.

Kiuma frowned, flicking her eyes to her brother. "Someone you want to see? I guess that's fine..." Who could her brother possibly want to see? He didn't get a long well with most other lions... at least, not that she knew of. "We don't really have a plan, so there aren't any to change... nothing to say we can't go where we please at any time..." At this thought, her smile came back in full force. She felt like invisible wings were opening along her back, stretching muscles she'd never used before. Is this what true freedom was?

"Ah, you're right." He nodded slowly. It was true, they didn't need to have a set plan. It could change at any time. Uumi fell into a light silences, in a while they would cross the borders and be into the free land, and from there it would take them about three days to get where they wanted to go.
(O_O;; sorry for small post.)

((xD no prob))
Kiuma smiled and let the comfortable silence stretch. Grass rustled at their passing and the sun slowly moved across the sky. From time to time, Kiuma called a short stop to rest. She never said why they rested, though it was obvious to both it was for her twin's sake. Still, it let him save face by not mentioning his weak state.
When they reached the border, Kiuma heisitated. Her body tensed with the strain of not looking behind her. Gritting her teeth, she stepped out boldly and crossed the border for the first time in her life, giving a little sigh as she did.

Uumi never mentioned why they stopped either, he hated admiting to his weak body and his need for rests every now and then. He was greatful that his twin didn't say anything about it.
He had no problem crossing the border, he slipped out with out hesitation and moved a few steps past Kiuma before glancing to her questioningly. He didn't know she'd never been past the border.
(-pokes the dullness that is starting out from leaving- xd )

Kiuma raised her eyebrows as her eyes foung her brother's. "What?" She moved past him, glancing back before picking up their pace. The sun was reaching the horizon now, and they hadn't gone very far. They'd need a place to rest soon, somewhere with shelter...

"Nothing." He murmered softly, following at herside with out explaining himself. He almost wanted to laugh out, explaim that they were free to do as they please and go where they wanted! But something still bit at his mind and churned his stomach uncomfortably.

~ a good deal later, just outside the Kusini'mwezi lands ~
Kiuma paced furiously, ripping into the turf with extended claws to vent her anger. Her thoughts whirled furiously in her mind, chaising each other around and around. How could he? She howled silently. First, he gets her pregnant, now this? The crimson adolescent let out a low snarl, her eyes dark and gazing inward. She didn't know where she was going... but she kept walking as though trying to outpace the hurt that nibbled at her heart.
Uumi was all but literally her other half... he was the one creature in this world she cared about more than any other. She would have given her life for him, and never regretted it. She told him everything, and the spines that kept all others at a distance were never turned to hinder him. Her entire life, she'd thought he felt the same love for her that she felt for him, the same completeness that only came by being with the other... But now, he wanted her to leave him. He wanted to stay here with that two-bit, trashy princess. She wouldn't have been suprised if the tramp had seduced her brother to get with cub, and there by have some hold over him.
He'd shown her that he didn't care for her feelings, only for his own. Looking back, she could see other times, other situations. It had always made her smile, the way he ruthlessly manipulated others for his enjoyment, making them think it was what they wanted, when it was really just what he wanted. Now, though, she could see times when that will had been used on her, like the time they had spoken about leaving. True, it was what she had wanted, but he'd prompted her to set a date, and held her to it.
It rankled her, the realization that he'd done to her what he'd done to so many others. No... he didn't care about her. He only cared about himself, his problems... What was she to him but a means to an end? Someone to take care of him, even as he resented it? He'd used her...
Kiuma's eyes flashed with cold fire, a snarl in her throat. No more. He could take care of himself. She would go as he wished, leave him with that female he cared for so much. And his cub. Her nephew...
One day she'd return, but not for him. Her nephew deserved to know at least part of his other family, part that wasn't just his father. She sighed, finally settling back on her haunches and curling her tail around her paws. Beyond her, the sun sank slowly below the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant reds, oranges, and purples.
