(Fact: Riyo has been known to skip across magical rainbow bridges lovingly made from unicorn farts)

AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Riyo (Last name? What last name? Screw last names)
Nicknames: Just Riyo.
Gender: Female
Age: Appears around 18

Faction/Race Demon - Bakeneko
Natural Ability:
• Minor Magic: capable of minor hex magics.

Personality: Withdrawn and anti-social, Riyo prefers to keep to herself and leave the social interactions to her other demon peers. She has a general distrust of most people, keeping to the idea that everyone is an enemy until proven otherwise (though very few have been able to prove otherwise). If anyone were able to prove otherwise, however, they'd find a very loyal acquaintance tucked underneath the ruffled fur.

Pros:

Curious, loves learning new things - Riyo tries to keep herself well-versed in knowledge, so whenever somebody surprises her with a new factoid, she's more than willing to sit and listen if only to prove she knows it at a later date. How far is she willing to go to learn about a subject? Ever heard the saying "Curiosity killed the cat."? Though, this is a perfect way to break the ice with her... As long as your pick is sharp enough to break through an iceberg.

Hard worker - Riyo completes all of her assignments/tasks in as timely a manner as she can. Lazy she is not (though will enjoy a nice cat nap on occassion). If put on a group assignment with nothing but slackers, Riyo will do the work herself just to prove she can (even if she's just proving it to herself).

"I'm not racist" - Riyo just hates everyone equally. Whether it's another demon, monster, or otherwise. Likewise, she doesn't care what gender you might hold. She still can't stand you (though she has more trouble interacting with flirty boys).

You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours
- Yes, she's anti-social, but the feeling of being indebted to someone is something she cannot stand. If you do her a 'favor', even if she didn't ask for it, she'll pay you back. Likewise, if she happens to do something nice for you, whether accidental or through the kindness of her heart (HAHA, FAT CHANCE), you better give her something in return.

Cons:

Emotionally Unstable (We're gonna need a cart for all this emotional baggage) - Riyo... Has problems (don't we all?). Her mother was not the kindest of people and happened to keel over from... Mysterious circumstances (cough). Her father? Who knows. Riyo doesn't remember him since he disappeared shortly after she was born, and therefore has major abandonment issues and certain triggers (may go into this if I type up a background). Like a bull, if you shake the metaphorical red sheet in front of her face, she's gonna charge and s**t's gonna get real. Which develops into...

Impulse control (or lack thereof) - Riyo gets what Riyo wants, even if she has to jump through a hoop to get it.. And if she wants to cut off all your arms and legs so she can beat you with them until you're this little bloody smear on the concrete, she'll do her best to see that vision through. It's where her instinct and intellect collide, the intellect usually being the loser. Bad ideas? She knows them when she sees them, but that's usually not enough to stop her.

Prude - She knows what feminine looks like. It looks like WHORE. WHOOOOOOORE! The only times you'll catch Riyo in a dress is in your dreams, because this cat prefers to cover up as much of her body as possible. Insecure doesn't even begin to cover it. It's the only area she feels inadequate over. Which means she stays far, far away from relationships (and touchy-feely men).

Secretly lonely
- SUCH A LONELY DAY. AND IT'S MINE... Riyo has a hard time admitting to herself that sometimes she yearns for companionship of some kind. Sure, talking to yourself is great (and she does, believe me), but it's hard to surprise yourself with an unexpected answer. There are days she wants to break down her cold and unforgiving exterior... But the fear of being hurt keeps her from it. Oh, and she is-

UNFORGIVING - Names? Riyo isn't good with names, but she'll never forget a face. Especially a face that spits at her or causes strife. It's like trying to put a cute little bonnet on your particularly unfriendly feline friend. Once it's done, they're never gonna look at you the same way again.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? The simple reason is for more control and bettering the ability to manage her own life. Things of monetary concern? She has that covered. Knowledge? She reads books for fun. Fear? Well, considering her fear backfires on her, that's a little iffy. There's also this teeny weeny itty bitty part of her that realizes she can't stay locked in her home forever, and eventually she'll have to deal with others whether she wants to or not.

FEAR: Riyo's ability consists of literally 'letting her emotions out'. All the disdain she feels takes shape into ugly little cat-like monstrosities (cat-like is used in the lightest terms, considering they have no legs and slide along the ground, leaving puddles of drool and black ooze in their wake). Her problem is that she can't control them for very long, and sometimes they'll turn back and attack their creator. She can only summon one at this time.

Physical Description: Slim/slender with a thin black tail to match. Black feline ears on either side of her head. Height is around 5'9". Body is slim. Chest size just above small.

Eye Colour: Crimson

Hair Colour/Style: blonde hair that hangs straight down. Lower back length.
Skin Colour: Fair

Clothing Style/Colours: Riyo prefers very covering clothing, her favorite outfit being a slick-looking trenchcoat, long pants, and boots. (Mens) victorian fashion is what she generally leans towards. Her favorite piece of fashion, however, is her top hat. It's a necessary item if she's going out in public. Hail the top hat in all it's savvy glory! Her usual colors are red, black, and dabs of gold.

Extra: N/a

Hobbies and Likes:

Fiddlin' - Yes, she can play The Devil Went Down to Georgia. No, she won't if you ask her to. Her love of the violin comes from a man she'd met briefly on the streets. The first time she heard the bow lovingly caress the strings, she knew it was something she had to learn. And, like the stubborn bull she was, didn't give up until she had mastered the wooden instrument... Much to her maid's and servants displeasure for the first few months.

Books, of course - Though she secretly leans more towards fantasy. It's a guilty pleasure, considering the fact that she has an imagination is kept on the down low. It's not like she'll ever use it for anything...

Creature watching - Some days she'll simply sit next to her window overlooking the street and watch people pass, imagining what they might be saying to one another or where they're going. It half makes up for her lack of real interaction with others. Only half.

Cats - NO, REALLY? Obviously, Riyo feels some connection to felines of lesser intelligence. That doesn't need a huge explanation. Though it should be noted she doesn't openly hate any specific animal species (except cannon cats... She's recently learned... ).

Confrontations
- The best kind of attention is negative. What better way to sabotage your own image and make people WANT to leave you alone? It's also a subliminal ego-stroke whenever she ends up conquering the opposing team. Though... She generally avoids it if the other party puts up little to no fight. Or at least, she tries to (try being the key word).

Dislikes:

Physical contact - As everybody knows, there are co-dependent cats who enjoy affection and a good scratch behind the ears every now and then... Then there are the independent felines ready to redecorate your furniture with claw-marks and bite you as soon as your hand comes within inches of their face. Riyo is the ladder, and therefore avoids touching people (and people touching her) whenever possible.

Awkward Situations - (not that anybody really likes them) When Riyo finds herself at a loss for what to do, instead of calmly trying to think it through, she ends up with a brain fart and a state of panic. Which is why she tries to stay at the top of her game mentally... Not that she can be prepared for everything.

A Lack of Clothing - No. Just no. Riyo will not go anywhere without something to cover her arms, legs, torso, and feet. And if she can pull it off, there will be layers in case of a wardrobe malfunction.

The words 'Dress(es)' and 'Skirt(s)'
- Generally, she has no trouble hearing them (unless they're in the same sentence as her name), but saying them is a different thing entirely. It's like a small speech impediment, because 99% of the time she stutters when those words are on the tip of her tongue.

And You. But that was obvious.

Pets:

Sabbath
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Sabbath is a good-for-nothing independent little hellion that Riyo happened upon when leaving her house for work one day. There he'd been, just sitting on the steps as if he belonged there, grooming himself. When the owner of his stoop reached out to pet him, she promptly received a deep scratch on her hand.

At first, Riyo had been mad... But the more she stared at the creature, the more she realized... That was pretty much her. To a T. She didn't know why the cat was the way he was, but she imagined his distrust of people was most likely well-founded like hers. All she had to do was walk back in and set a plate of meat down. After that, there was no getting rid of him. To this day, she still can't reach out a hand to pet him, but at least he doesn't try to maul her like he does everyone else.

Mr. M
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Like Sabbath, Mr. M was another charity case that Riyo stumbled upon. Riyo has no idea why he refuses to come out of that damn box, but she's not about to take it away from him. After all, she hides in a shell too. Only hers is made of expensive cloth. He's easy to please. All she has to do is sit a small bowl in there and she gets a 'mew' in reply... Though he's very hard to cuddle with, smelling like wet cardboard all the time... It's probably better that way.

Mr. M is a weird name, isn't it? Well, that's not his full name, but considering Riyo tries to appear professional, she only refers to the cat by his full name behind closed doors.

Felix
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Felix is Riyo's little stalker friend who followed her home like a lost puppy one day. One minute he wasn't there... and the next minute... He was standing in her shadow. Staring up at her. With those green gas-mask lenses...

And still, the cat follows her everywhere. She can't seem to get rid of him. While it is refreshing to have the companionship... It's also a little discomforting

Long-Winded History:
TL;DR: Riyo's mom sucked, but it's okay because she's dead now.

The 5th year was when things started getting rough.

Riyo could barely recall a time before the first day she realized how grim her situation was. That one comment woke her up from the blissfully dumb coma of childhood.

Her interactions with the one she called mother were scarce, considering Anne was a demon of business. The fact that she had a child was often purposefully ignored. There were maids and servants to deal with that. Anne had almost always been absorbed in her work. Almost.

There had been a time when she was ready to give everything up to live a simple life with a special someone. A handsome, though just about good for nothing, scruffy little cat with enough charisma to fill all of Halloween. The fact that he was a jobless slob had disturbed her at first, but the more he persisted, the more she was intrigued. He apparently saw something that the greedy bastards she worked with couldn’t. There was more to her than just money.

They got married and had a child… And at first, Anne had slowly started neglecting the company she’d worked so hard to build. But as short, almost insignificant years passed, the realization that she was sacrificing her hard work with no profit sank in.

Little by little, Anne’s obsession with success returned, and little by little, her husband got sick of it. Eventually he told her to choose between her family or her precious business.

It’s not hard to guess what she chose, though the fact that he had denied her the pleasure of having her cake and eating it too crawled under her skin and started to fester. He wanted to take their daughter.

Well, he could screw off.

If this filth was going to deny her of what she wanted, she would do the very same. It wasn’t hard. Being the successful business owner she was, keeping custody of a child was easy as a snap from her clawed fingers.

The best part was, with as young as little Riyo was, it would be no problem to convince the little girl she’d been abandoned. That would teach him, oh yes.

Demon nature was one thing, but as Anne’s spite grew, she became downright sinister. The small part of her that remembered she was a mother ebbed away slowly but surely, until the girl was nothing but an inconvenience that selfishly devoured her hard-earned funds without so much as a thank you.

Ever notice how bad things always pick the worst times to happen?

It just so happened that Riyo’s 5th birthday was around Anne’s grim realization. Up to this point, Riyo had been well-tended to by the maids who apparently couldn’t get enough of the cute little ball of fuzz. In fact, they’d all pitched together and made her a pretty dress with cute little black cat buttons and stockings to match.

Even though she was from a rich family, Riyo didn’t get many gifts, so this made her ecstatic. “Why don’t you show your mother when she comes home?” It wasn’t hard to notice the cold demeanor of the child’s mother, but none of them would’ve guessed she was that cruel.

The thought they planted in Riyo’s mind stuck. Maybe looking this nice would make her mother find her acceptable. Then they could spend time together! Maybe she’d take her to work so she could help her do all the fun stuff she did there. At least… She assumed it was fun, since that’s all she did.

Anne didn’t come home ‘till late, like usual, but Riyo was determined to stay up. When she heard the car pull up, and the door slam, she immediately ran out of her room (much to her caretaker’s disapproval) in her new dress with a big smile on her face.

The look her mother held in those deep blue eyes was intense as she noticed the daughter she rarely saw running down the steps. It was obvious there was something wrong with her..

“Momma, I gots this pretty dress for my birfday~” The small child shouted excitedly, holding up the skirt so the much taller woman could get a better look. “Do you like it?”

Anne seemed to look at the small being before her for what seemed like a century, those cold, calculating orbs slowly filling with disgust.

“You look like a little whore.”

The words ripped the smile off Riyo’s little face, causing her red eyes to practically bulge out of their sockets. W-whore? What was a whore? Before she could open her mouth to speak, Anne continued.

“By the stupid look on your face, I assume you haven’t figured out what that means.” Turning away from her daughter, Anne moved towards the case of books kept in the main room for easy access, tossing a dictionary at her daughter’s feet.

Riyo looked down at the thick book that probably weighed about as much as she did, obviously dumbfounded. She knew how to read, but not THAT well. “M-momma, I can’t-“

“You can’t what? Obviously if you’re old enough to dress like a whore, you’re old enough to take care of yourself. Why don’t you start doing that? And don’t call me ‘momma’ anymore. I can’t stand it.”

Being a child, Riyo still wasn’t able to comprehend how cruel these comments were. And the blank look on her daughter’s face didn’t satisfy Anne’s cruel intentions.

“Let me spell it out for you.” Approaching her child and kneeling down so she was at eye level, her face got closer to the now terrified little ghoul. She knew what her mother’s angry face looked like… And this was ten times worse. “Your father was nothing but an idiot. Looks like you got that from him.”

THAT Riyo understood. It was obvious from the little red beads in her eyes and running nose.

“Now take that dictionary and get out of my sight. I’ll only speak to you again when you can read to me the definition.”

Standing back up straight, Anne left her daughter alone, the child doing her best to fight off the tears that were welling up in her eyes. It took her weeks to finally find and read the definition, accepting no help from the maids. After realizing what her mother meant, Riyo immediately gave the dress back, determined to cover as much of herself as she could from that point on. That was the first memory that permanently affixed itself to her mind… But certainly not the last.

It wasn’t long after Anne’s little outburst that the maids who had been so kind to Riyo were slowly replaced with mindless servants who didn’t bat an eye to the small ghoul’s complicated situation. It didn’t hurt Riyo as much as it should’ve. By this time, she was determined to raise her mother’s ruling that she was just like her father. A thirst for knowledge overtook the small girl. The desire to impress the only family she had was overwhelming.

When her 8th birthday rolled around, something unexpected happened.

Her mother offered her a chance to prove her worth and work at the company. Riyo had to do all she could to hide the utter joy she felt. This was her chance! She could earn her mother’s respect this way!

Unfortunately, Anne’s ‘kind gesture’ was nothing of the sort. Her assistant, the vice president of their company, had been whining about wanting an assistant of his own.

It was really meant to be an insult towards him. While her equally vile vice president was a great asset to their company, he was by no means her favorite person.

He called himself B. Lyle. Most people just called him Lyle, or Mr. Lyle to Riyo...

To be continued.

The Short, (not so) Sweet Version
For the TL;DR at heart

I. Riyo’s mother Anne was obsessed with work.
a. At one point, she considered giving it up for family life with her semi-deadbeat husband and their daughter.
b. Eventually said “******** DAT” and went back to working.
c. Husband left because of it and wanted to take their daughter with him.
d. Anne said “******** DAT TOO” and took her instead.
II. Riyo has little to no contact with her mother and was raised by maids for the first 5 years.
III. Maids make her a nice dress for her birthday.
a. One suggests showing it to her mother.
b. Craving parental attention, Riyo does it.
i. Called a whore because her mother is a spiteful b***h.
ii. Insecurities develop because of it.
IV. When Riyo is 10, she’s asked to work at her mother’s company.
a. It’s not for her benefit, but an insult to Anne’s vice president (B. Lyle) who wanted an assistant.
b. But at least Riyo works hard.
V. Riyo continues to grow smarter while her mother grows more bitter.
a. B. Lyle notices, and makes a point to send the ghoul to her mother at the worst possible times.
b. Eventually, it pays off, and Riyo walks in at the worst moment possible.
c. In her mother's frustration, she tries to cast a hex spell, which rebounds on her.
i. Loses her mental stability, and the company falls to Riyo.

SYPHON CORP.
Making your dreams come true (at the expense of others).

So just what kind of company did lil' Riyo inherit?

The BEST kind!

The kind that profits off of other people's misfortune.

Syphon Corp. specializes in employing demons of high quality (and low initiative) to fulfill contracts with would-be buyers. A buyer comes in, puts in their request, and Syphon Corp. chooses the best demon from their large line to fill said request. The demon will of course, set the price, but is obligated to give half their profits to the company.

Likewise, demons can come in and request work. As long as they agree to terms aforementioned and are powerful enough to perform the tasks asked of them, Syphon Corp. Will employ them.

The pros to being in such a position are always having work and still getting paid if you don't. The cons are obviously not having as much payment as you would going in it alone.

Where does Riyo fall into this?

Fortunately or unfortunately, she's the president. While she doesn't have to deal with the dirty work, the feline still has to keep the company running. However, her identity is a bit of a mystery to their business associates, as she refuses to attend public events. She leaves those to her vice president, who obviously doesn't care to get all the limelight with none of the work.

Does she like it? Oh hell no. Though she imagines it's just because everybody wants what everybody can't have and nobody wants what they're practically given. Not because she's a slave to her own business (and vice president). Everybody's miserable, right? Right. At least she's wealthy and miserable instead of poor and miserable.

What's gonna happen to Syphon Corp while Riyo's at school? Not much. While she'll have more on her plate, she's still gonna be pulling most of the company's weight from her desk, and whatever she can't handle, her vice president is gonna have to deal with. Will she go crazy? Sure, if she's not already there. But she knows full well that she won't be able to stay a shut-in forever, and to gain the respect of her peers, she'll need to have her act completely together.

I love her potential-plot-ness. rofl The whole company thing... I hope it's permissible! (But really, Riyo's would be awesome anyways even without it, in all her victoriantomboyclothingness and attitude problem-ness.)

I didn't read her story but she seems really well developed.

So, she stutters over the words "Dress" and "Skirt", (which is adorbibbles and hilarious, lmao) but what about things like "ladies" and "girl"? What about when other people call her "chick", "lady" or "girl"? Does that elicit any rage in her or is the appearance aspect of girlishness the only thing that bothers her about girlishness?

;o;
Ah, thank you so much for the crit!
The whole 'dress' and 'skirt' thing actually has to do with her backstory/childhood trauma. She had been given a dress for her 5th birthday by some of the maids, which received some very cruel criticism from her mom. So the very idea of them puts her on edge (let alone wearing them, God forbid).

As far as being called by feminine names, the only thing that would bother her about that is the fact that they wouldn't be calling her by her name. It's really just the (what she considers) slutty appearance that gets under her skin (and possibly the stereotypical weak-kneed 'I can't do anything for myself' type woman, considering she's had to take care of herself for so long), though her level of prude is well-above normal. I can imagine the especially scantily clad students would probably make her eye twitch.

On an amusing note, she sort of earned the nickname 'c**t' at open house, thanks to her interaction with Deacon... Which might end up being permanent, LOL.

Again, thank you muchly for the compliments and crit~

Ohh, I get it now. o3o So it's kind of just the appearance aspect that she's really set against... as for the female stereotypes, I'm pretty sure that nobody is supposed to be able to like them, ever. rofl (They really suck. I wish we got stereotypes like bear wrestling and being pimps. Instead we get stereotypes like shopping and being sluts. What a letdown, eh? At least guys have fun stereotypes.) BUT anyways that was offtopic 8'DD;;

As for her nickname. Whaaat. rofl I've heard of the open house. It would be nice if they could host another one of those, after all the new quests made this month for the customs thing, lawl. 8'D;;

It was a pleasure, and good luck! x3
