Just so everyone knows, I've been a fan of it since I was like, 5. heart And I'm talking about the American one where Usagi was called Serena. Besides searching for fellow fans, I was really just wondering if anyone else heard the fantastic news that it's coming back this fall to television (I heard that from MTV.. strange, really).

I think there's like 300 or more if you count R, S, and Super S (unless those are the same thing..), excluding the movies. I think you can watch it on Hulu. Youtube used to have it, but they're super strict on copyrights now.

Let's see considering that I've been a fan since I was five (that's 15 years. lol.) I'd rate the Japanese version to be 10/10. The English dub I'd give around 8. It wasn't as good as the original since they cut some of the episodes, some changes in the plot and character changes, and the Sailor Stars arc never made it to the U.S. due to issues with the licencing. biggrin Well that's my opinion anyway. I love it either way.

Yup that's the one~!!
By the way its around 300 episodes all together. There are five major story arcs (Sailor Moon, R, S, SuperS, and Sailor Stars) and two minor ones (Makaiju (or Doom Tree in English) arc at the start of the R story arc and the first 6 episodes in the Sailor Stars arc). ((Sorry I'm rambling on. Whenever I talk about Sailor Moon I go into otaku mode. lol.))

They cut out most of the fighting to make it more appropriate for little ones (but they kept Uranus and Neptune, which makes zero sense to me), and they changed their names (like Usagi was changed to Serena, Hotaru was changed so that Americans could pronounce it, etc.). I'm used to the English dub (which is actually sort of childish sweatdrop ) so I'd agree to the 8 out of 10.

When they dubbed it they tried to hid the lesbian undertone of Neptune and Uranus's relationship by changing their bio by saying they were cousins. Actually Hotaru's name is the only one that stayed true to the original Japanese counterpart of the show when they translated it into English.
Not many people know this but there are a number of scouts from the Sailor Stars arc that that never made it to translated manga or anime (both the original Japanese and English dub). Most notably Sailor Chi, Phi and Heavy Metal Paillon are among the ones that didn't appear.
(I would not doubt the fact that we could be great friends. razz I'm not that majorly Sailor otaku but I like reading a lot about the series. I have a friend more obsessed than I am. He has a lot of collector items from the Sailor Moon series. Majority are rare and expensive....)

I got Sailor Moon S: the movie on dvd and it said that Uranus "cared a lot about Neptune and would protect her often" under her biography. But, other than that, they didn't seem to do much else.. I really need to catch up on my Sailor Moon~. I've never heard of Chi or Phi. >.<

I made an error about Sailor Chi, Phi, and Heavy Metal Paillon in the translated manga. Just checked my manga and they are there. They were introduced in the Sailor Stars manga at the end of vol. 2 and the beginning of 3. The other three Sailor scouts that didn't make it to the Sailor Stars anime include the three I mentioned and Sailor Kakyuu, Lethe, and finally Mnemosyne. These six scouts were never introduced in the anime and only appeared in the manga. Sorry sweatdrop Its been a very long time since I had to bust out my Sailor Moon manga.

Well the manga has been out of print since 2001, so finding them is a hard task in itself let alone looking for decent conditioned volumes. I only knew the anime version so when I found out that they had released the manga version here in the U.S. I went a little crazy and bought the entire first season of the manga and two volumes each of the SuperS and Sailor Stars manga. =.=; All together that was around $124 in 2000 when manga was popular and cheap. My mother almost killed me when I asked her to buy it for me. I paid her back overtime since I only needed three more volumes since I could buy them myself.
Since there are a lot of anime and manga fans in Hawaii we get a variety that satisfies all manga preferences. >_> Though they cost almost $12 a volume now.
