Summer was approaching, and the city, especially with its proximity to Kodo's desert, was beginning to feel the affects. A certain redheaded noble, accustomed by now to the pleasantly climate-controlled hotel and shops, was feeling the affects much more profoundly than was likely reasonable so early in the season, and so his first instincts on exiting the comfort of the building were to immediately seek out something cool. Fortunately, the docks weren't far, and Luke recalled happening across an ice cream vendor in the area when he had first arrived in the region. It was on that memory that the boy had insisted to his friend and guardian that they make their destination the boardwalk and the shops that surrounded it.
"It was around here somewhere..." Trouble being that Luke habitually failed to internalize nearly enough about his surroundings at any given time to remember where the parlor was. "It had a checkered awning or something... You sure you don't see it?" Dodging passerby absently, he turned an inquisitive gaze toward his company with an expression that implied Guy should have a better idea than Luke of where the vendor was.

It was certainly no surprise that the guard and friend of said red-headed noble was feeling the effects of the waxing summer upon the city. He was so unused to the difference in climate that this Kodo place had compared to the Grand Isle, and he quickly became parched when he and his charge had stepped out onto the street. He agreed to the idea of something cool to eat so that they might cool down, but apparently the certain place that Luke had in mind was elusive.
"No, I don't see it, Luke," Guy said in response to his friend's query. He shrugged his shoulders as he slid out of the way of a... rather large pair of tourists. "It was your idea to get ice-cream, anyway, wasn't it? You'd think that you'd know where it would be, considering that you suggested it." He made a small chuckle. Ah... Sometimes, he wasn't sure what he was going to do with that boy.
Guy eventually slowed his walking pace and stopped completely, taking a moment to look around and gain his bearings. Most of the stores on the docks were unfamiliar to him and thus gave him no clues as to where their destination might be. He sighed, looking back to Luke. "Do you think that we should ask someone for directions? I'm sure some of the vendors will have an idea of where this ice-cream place might be."

"Well you'd think it'd be easier to find," Luke countered indignantly. "It's so hot; you'd think they'd put up a sign or something so people could find it, but no. They have to make it into some kind of scavenger hunt..." Not even that. At least scavenger hunts had clues, and it generally wasn't a test of endurance to complete them.
At Guy's suggestion, the younger swordsman quietly considered it before grumbling in frustration. "No way, we don't need to ask," he refused. "I know where it is..." Not the most convincing tone to take when assuring someone of anything. If he recalled, it hadn't been terribly far from the park... And he had spent enough time in and around the park to know that they were at least headed in the right direction. So there - he totally knew where the parlor was! In convincing himself of this, he failed to notice the checkered awning looming ahead.

Luke's indignant and arrogant attitude made Guy frown a bit. "...Well, all right, as long as you're sure," he replied, not bothering to hide the dubious tone to his voice. Guy himself was not sure that Luke was sure where the parlor was at all, but placing a little bit of faith in his friend wouldn't hurt, would it? ... Hopefully not. You could never really tell with Luke involved, Guy thought somewhat cruelly.
He began to walk towards Luke so that they begin their search again, but luckily, Guy was able to notice the checker awning ahead of them that Luke had failed to see. He blinked in surprise, then glanced over to his friend and pointed over to the shop. "Hey, is that the awning you were talking about? Is that the place?" Hell if he knew himself.
