She had asked Tete to come to this special spot. Her little vacation spot. More like a stay-cation, but she didn't think that she would ever be able to leave this place completely. That was alright with her, as long as she still got these breaks once in a while.

She knew that he couldn't come instantly. There were always things to do. And besides, she had sent someone else to tell him. Sometimes...it was hard doing things on your own.

She just hoped that she had the courage to do it once the time came.

Tete hadn't been very far away when someone had been sent his way to direct him to Salma but slight nerves slowed him down a little even once he was free to go. He wasn't sure he'd been as distracting as he'd promised before, though he had tried. It was probably a good sign he wasn't driving her insane if she was still looking for him instead of suddenly avoiding him, though.

Finally strolling out of the trees to where Salma was waiting for him, he glanced around.

"You know, I think this is my favorite spot."

Ah! And there he was! His voice had startled her, but she hadn't been paying much attention to anything around her. Too wrapped up in her thoughts and the different possible outcomes of the next few minutes.

She smiled at him, and approached him to give her greetings. "It's mine too," she said with a flick of her tail. A spot of freedom, really. It was relaxing. She felt her breathing slow, and her anxiety slink away...for the moment. Hopefully it wouldn't return.

"Thanks for coming," she added on.

Smiling at Salma, he gave a small nod of greeting as he walked closer to her. Didn't look panicked so nothing was wrong, didn't look serious so it wasn't business, it was all good.

"Not a problem, I'm sorry I took so long," he said, though he wasn't sure it had been all that long, "What can I do for you?"

"Ah, no, that's alright," she said. "I did sort of send for you, so I didn't know if you were in the middle of something or not." Plus, there were lots of ways to get slowed down when going somewhere in this pride...so many creatures, every day.

"I just, well. This doesn't want to come out easily. I want to be with you, Tete."

It was hard to keep looking at him. She didn't feel shame, but perhaps embarrassment?

"Not really," he murmured, though it wasn't entirely true. Of course he'd been doing something or he had no excuse for not being faster but it wasn't like she was taking him away from anything of great importance. She did have the power to do that, though, but she wasn't really the type to abuse it like that.

Tete was looking at her quietly and froze when she finished saying what she needed to say, blinking a couple times. Unlike her, he would have had trouble looking away.

"You mean..?"

How many ways were there to interpret that?

Ah. Damn cheeks flushing again. Thankfully she didn't have a white coat. This brown colour of her coat helped to hide the worst of it.

"I'm tired of batting around the idea in my head. You've been there for me for so long, and you're still here. And...I want you to stay here with me." Whoops. "N-not that I think you'd leave! But I just want to make it...official...I guess?"

Man, this was way too complicated. She wished she had Mother to guide her on this.

Really only the one, then. But then he couldn't think of quite how to respond. Maybe he figured it would happen sooner or later so the answer seemed obvious, but the situation was unexpected-- which was strange for him.

"It's not very fair to you that you got brave enough for this first," he said, saying the first thing that came to his mind as it hadn't really been a question, "I mean, I want that too."

Tete smiled.

"Not fair?" she said, a little surprised. But. "Hey, you could have said so first," she said, a smirk on her face. "But I guess I beat you to it!" Salma laughed, feeling the tension release.

"Well, if that's the truth, then count on me calling for you more often!" It was nice being in charge at times. "Besides, we're getting more volunteers, so they can handle most of the work." Oh, she sounded horrible, but it was a bit true! She wasn't as drastically needed now. Just had to help decide where certain shrines would be, and smooth other ruffled egos.

Her ego was currently as inflated and happy as could be.

"I suppose I could have," he agreed, taking a couple steps closer. He chuckled when she said she would be calling on him more now. It didn't matter what he said, if she wanted to do that, of course she could.

"That's some good delegating," Tete said thoughtfully after she finished saying everybody else could handle things, "And if that's the truth, then count on me being more of a distraction."

He grinned, and he probably wouldn't stop for a while. What a happy moment! And now it wouldn't matter so much if he wanted to hang out around her a lot, he was supposed to.

Salma nodded. "It's called practice," she said confidently. It was a bit of a joke, but it was nice not constantly being needed. If they could only snag a few more keepers, carvers, and shif..ters. Fine, so there was still a lot of holes that needed filling, but there were a lot of youngsters that would probably jump in on the action when they were old enough to be left on their own.

"Then I'll count on you to keep me busy...when I'm not busy with the pride!" It would be wonderful to be able to spend more time with him without really...alerting anyone. Because it was official now, as she thought with a smile.
