Sara wanted to scream. Sara wanted to scream very, very loudly. She was stressed out and fed up and every other emotion a teenage girl felt when she was overworked and exhausted. She found herself recently counting down the moments to when she could have some alone time, she was dedicated her studies but lately she had been pretty drained. Maybe that is what happens when you try and give 100%, 100% of the time. However luckily after today was over she had a few days off. Which was a wondrous thing and one that she appreciated. Maybe after she was relaxed she would be able to knuckle down with as much dedication as she had shown when she started. She wondered and one by one lit the candles.

The Temple Master was old and even though it was not yet dark she did not want to have him do it when he was, his vision was failing him and his hands were shaky. She often did small tasks like this to make his life easier. Then when the last one was lit, she was done and freedom was in sight. She put out the flame she had used to light them and headed towards the entrance. She smiled and hit the doors, they swung open and with her arms out wide she took in a large breathe of fresh air. Feeling the warm sun on her skin. Though... her nostrils twitched. She smelt something...

She turned around, long green hair spinning as she did so to find the cause of the smell. Soon enough she saw smoke and on a instant realised what she had done. Instead of dropping the light into the water she had dropped it into the lighter fluid and the whole bowl was spitting out flames. She went pale and rushed back, almost falling over her own feet as she did so. When she came to the alter she grabbed the water and threw it over the flames not thinking, of course the fluid floated and created more of a mess. She Mongolian girl panicked and grabbed a curtain, yanking it down and batting the flames before she beat them out. When they were gone she let out a small sigh of relief. Truth be told she wished to escape before she could be blamed for this... her Master was going to give her a lecture but she guessed she deserved it.

"Spirits... give me strength..." She sighed and fell to her knees, she was tired. Too tired to be allowed near anything flammable. Well she supposed her days off would have to wait. She better clean this up before she found herself in some real trouble.

The temple, a place of worship for many Lunarians. A place of peace and serenity that seemed to emanate from its walls. Admittedly, Ran was drawn to that calmness; more than once he had felt that this place might feel something like the forest. Detached from the rest of the world, but very much a part of the natural order of things. It was the idea of discipline and spiritual connectivity that brought Ran to those doors today.

Walking alongside the outer wall, he ran his hand against the structure and considered what was contained within those walls. His family's way of prayer was different from most, because their gods did not lie solely in the sky but all around them. He believed in the Goddess, of course; however, everything was sacred to them. Even the rocks and dirt held spiritual significance. Her love was spread evenly throughout the land.

They were content with their modest fire and performing their rituals in their own home, away from outside interference. Still... still. Ran couldn't help but wonder how other prayers went.

He felt a little guilty as he approached the doors; he hadn't brought an offering. What was he supposed to bring? They didn't have any food to spare, and he hadn't ever considered praying outside of his family's own time and certain festivals.

Ah, well. It was his first time visiting. Squaring his shoulders, Ran held his hands out to push the door open when he heard a commotion coming from within the temple. Several situations came to mind; robbery, a scuffle between rowdy Lunarians, an animal having gotten lost and panicked... all sounded pretty bad.

His hand lingered at the ceremonial sword that hanged faithfully at his side; no, he couldn't use it. It was never to be drawn in battle. Even more so than that, he had never trained to actually use it outside of dancing. Searching, he found a decent-sized stick and held it up.

Face set in determination, Ran swept the doors open, stick held out like a great sword.

It was almost instantaneous; when the door was open, the strong scent of smoke hit his face and his eyes widened in shock.

The stick dropped and clattered to the floor. What he saw before him was not a thief, nor was it a couple of drunken fighters. It wasn't an animal, either.

It was a girl. A girl who apparently had just smothered a fire with a... curtain? He cocked his head to the side and watched her, curiosity ebbing away at his previously startled disposition.

"Spirits... give me strength..." he heard her say, and perked up again. Experience taught him not to sneak up on others when they were down, but curiosity told him to go ahead and approach her anyway. He did so, quietly stepping across the room until he was a couple feet behind her.

"Excuse me," came the quiet greeting, an arm lifting so that he may press a cough into it. The smoke was only just beginning to clear out, and even though it was only a small amount, it made his eyes sting a bit. "Are you alright? Do you need any help?"

Sara spun around when she heard a voice, her hair dancing behind her as she did so. Her heart was still racing from the panic of flames and in the blink of a eye she was on her feet and bowing like a women possessed. She could not believe someone had seen his mistake, she would have cried if she was not so embarrassed. "Oh, no really it was just a accident with the lighting fluid." She nodded and then stood up to look at the man who had wondered in, her eyes fastened on his and she stared for a moment. His eyes were different colours... she had never seen that before.

Then she realised she was staring, her face suddenly turned a beetroot colour and she spun around starting to clean up the mess she made. She hoped her staring had not made him feel uneasy... oh spirits. "There is not much damage, it is easily fixed." She nodded not wanting to make him go out of his way, it was her fault and she knew she should fix it. How was she acting, the temple was meant to be a place of peace and she was probably making their guest feel uncomfortable. She wondered over to a window and opened it before she approached the boy again, standing a few steps away.

"The Master is resting now... but if you need anything I am his assistant." Well she was one of many assistants and students but she was the only one who was free, no doubt the others were studying and she did not want to interrupt them. She took in a deep breathe and tried to compose herself giving him another bow, this time more elegant, her hair fell over her shoulders and she closed her eyes. "I apologise for my clumsiness please let me forgive me. I can get you some water if you like." He was coughing and she might be making a fuss however... that was in her nature.

He was genuinely curious, now, watching this girl bumble about in an embarrassed way. It reminded him of himself, and that surprised him; to see what he considered to be the worst side of himself in another without wanting to hurl said person across the room was unexpected. Ran had always figured he would want to kill himself if he ever had the chance of meeting... himself. He tilted his head, eyes widening slightly.

"Ah! If you say so, but..." He trailed off, watching her open the window. How relieving. The smoke would clear out and hopefully not attract too much attention - the last thing he wanted was a crowd in what was supposedly a quiet, holy place.

Well, his first experience in a church was interesting already, to say the least.

A smile brightened his face somewhat, and he bowed back. "Do not trouble yourself on my behalf, please," he replied as he straightened, a hand raising to first wave dismissively, then rest on the great fur at his shoulder. "I only came to study the ways of other religions, because my family..." He trailed off, smiling somewhat sheepishly.

"Alright, I was just curious." 'Studying' was too much; he hated to study, really. To call it such would have made it work, and Ran's idea of work was physical labor that lasted hours.

He was looking all around the temple, now, taking in its inner design with great interest. Despite the fire, it brought him peace. He breathed a heavy sigh and returned his gaze to her. The temple assistant, eh? It must have been a fulfilling job, to aid the spirits like that.

"How rude of me. I am Saito Ran. It is an honor to meet you, miss..." He trailed off again with a questioning look; he had no idea what to call her.

It occurred to him that he still had the stick in his hands; he turned his head quickly to look at it, gave a startled laugh, and set it down.

"Curious? Well, people often come here to find answers. I hope that you are able to leave here with what you seek." She nodded, it was hard to come here and not feel the presence of the spirits, at least for her. She had come to learn that there were some places which the spirits found easier to communicate in, temples were a place where the two world were close together due to the amount of prayer and faith present in the halls. It was those words and chants which helped them feel at ease at at times summoned them. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breathe and then opened her pale and ghostly orbs to look at him once more. The smoke was clearing, the small gust from the window blow about her long teal hair, it was down and free as always. "Its nice to meet you Saito Ran, My name is Sara." She introduced herself with a small polite bow. She noticed he had worded his statement a little oddly, suggesting his family followed a path different to what was thought and preached at this particular temple. "What religion does your family study?" She asked, always curious. She did not know much about the many religions around Lunaria, she herself did not worship any Gods, as a soul conduit her job was keeping the spirits happy and making sure they rested peacefully whilst taking the knowledge from those who offered it to her. She did not know what happened after death and they would not tell her, all she knew is people had souls and these were eternal. That in itself offered her comfort, she often said she did not fear death. She feared being the last one left living.

"I can not say I follow a religion myself, my role is that of a servant, of a soul conduit. I have been gifted with the ability to hear the voices of the dead and with that do there bidding. I follow the instruction given to me by the spirits and that is all, so I guess its easier for a person like me to believe, to truly believe." She tried to explain, she had become used to sharing that knowledge with people who came to the temple, it often made them feel more at ease knowing that someone could say for sure they were real. Though some of course thought she was lying and was in fact just a mad women force fed magic stories. In her younger year she was scared to tell anyone about her abilities in fear it might make her appear strange. However now she had grown to understand it was nothing to be ashamed of. It made her special.

"Please come with me, if we go into the study we will be able to talk in comfort and I will share with you all I know Master Ran. Unless you would rather learn from my Master, he is much wiser and older than I..." She stated as she slowly turned and started to walk towards a sliding door. She placed a hand on the wood and pulled it back revealing a small room with a table and two cousins on the floor. Sara often used it for confession however it was well enough suited to be a place for discussion none the less. She stood to the side and reached into the room with her hand, looking back at him do indicate the fact he could take a seat. She had gotten a lot better at communicating with the visitors to the temple, it had become part of her every day life almost like a ritual.
