۞Jonathan Haste۞ Jonathan used his keys to unlock the door to his room, and took a step inside. Immediately a frown started to form on his face as he took in the room. There wasn't anything remarkable about it, in fact, it seemed to have a desolate air about it. But maybe he feel more at home if he took his stuff out. So Jonathan walked over to one of the beds and dropped the duffel bag filled with his things onto it. He quickly unzipped the top, and tossed a few of the books he brought off to the side of the bed. He took his clothes out and stuffed it into the small dresser that was leaning against the wall. After that he only had school supplies left, and he left that in his back pack. Jonathan took another look around, but it didn't seem any less empty. Maybe getting a new book will help get my mind off of this. He thought to his self. Maybe another fantasy book would do. Jonathan just shrugged, and left the dorm room to look for the library. Ω [Level 1][Energy: 350] Ω

۞Jonathan Haste۞ Jonathan made it to his room with three newly acquired items. A book that explains how to use shields in combat. A shield to use and train with. And a rock. In hindsight, Jonathan wasn't too sure why he took the rock from the weapon store, but who knows it might come in handy. Possibly as a distraction, or desperation attack. He lightly tossed both the rock and the shield onto his bed, and took out the book that he checked out from the library. "Now let's see what this has to say."[1/6] Jonathan opened up the book on shield fighting techniques, and started reading through a few of the techniques. It talked about how to carry shields, how to hold them, how to move with them, and how to not only use the shield to block attacks, but to also to use it to knock out your opponent. "Well, I think I chose the right book out of that library." He mussed. [2/6] After reading over the beginning of the book, it told him that he needed to get used to using the shield before actually learning any techniques. So Jonathan placed the book on his bed and picked up his wooden buckler. He then strapped the wooden buckler onto his left arm and did a few experimental swings with it. [3/6] He continued making swings with the wooden shield. Striking at imaginary opponents with both the edge of the shield, and smacking against them with middle part of the shield. He continued on with the various swings until his arm was tired, and he had started to sweat a little. [4/6] After that he switched to getting used to how to move around with the shield. He that by moving around the room, constantly changing the position of his shield. Sometimes at rest near his hip, sometimes with his arm stretched out to his side, over his head, pressed against his chest, and crouched low just inches above the floor. [5/6] After a while Jonathan thought he had a pretty good handle of how restricting the shield was, and how he could moving around so that he wasn't really hindered by it. But he had only trained with it on his left arm, so he switched it to his right side and went through all of the training he just did, with the shield on that side. Once he was done with that he sat down on his bed for a quick rest. [6/6] Ω [Level 1][Energy: 350] Ω

۞Jonathan Haste۞ Once Jonathan's breath started to even out again, he reached out and grabbed the shield style book. He flipped it open to the different techniques that the book taught. He then quickly read over the first skill on the list. [1/5] "Smashes the enemy with the shield. A simple skill for pushing the enemy slowly backwards and making them lose ground." He said out loud, and that was the only description they had on the technique it'self and the rest was just diagrams depicting how to do it. [2/5] "Well there really isn't much to this skill." He said to his self. "But it probably still needs practice all the same. And could be a good tactical move to push people towards a wall." After he said that, a smile formed on his lips. "Or off a cliff."[3/5] After taking a few minutes just studying the skill, Jonathan got up and rolled his shoulders. He picked up the shield and then strapped it to his left arm. Then he started practicing the move repeating over and over, going from one side of the room and to the other. [4/5] Once Jonathan had become used to the move, he took off the shield, and switched it to his other arm. He then started the training over again now with the opposing arm, so that he could switch to the other arm if he ever needed to use the skill. He kept on doing this type of practice until he had it down pat, and tossed the shield back onto his bed. [5/5] Shield Bash learned Ω [Level 1][Energy: 350] Ω

۞Jonathan Haste۞ This time Jonathan recovered a little more quickly than he did earlier. Although he didn't work as hard as he did before, it was still difficult with the weight of the shield. Jonathan let out a sigh and grabbed the shield book. [1/5] "Hopefully the next skill will be more interesting." He said to himself. He then went to the next skill and read the description. It looked like a fairly interesting skill, but he also read the other ones to see if their was a better one. "Well this one looks interesting."[2/5] " By fusing your Ki into the shield, the user can launch their shield at their opponent. Whether it misses the opponent or strikes a hit, the user needs to only will it and the shield will return to them." He read out the description, and only sort of understood it. He had learned about ki in his martial arts books, but he didn't really know how to fully control it. [3/5] Jonathan grabbed his shield leaving both of his hands on either side, and breathed in slow breaths. He felt his ki trickle into the shield, and then gave an experimental throw at the wall. Once it went halfway to the wall, he pulled it back with his will. He felt it pull back a little, but not before smashed into the wall and left the shield halfway embedded into it. "Ah, crap."[4/5] Jonathan walked over to the shield, and yanked it out, leaving behind a hole in the wall. Jonathan merely shrugged and went about his business. He poured more of his ki into the shield and threw it to the other side of the room. This time when he willed the shield to come back, it responded quicker, and returned to his hand before crashing into something. [5/5] Shield Boomerang learned Ω [Level 1][Energy: 350] Ω

۞Jonathan Haste۞ Jonathan glanced back at the hole in the wall and grimaced. "Well that's not a pleasant sight. Although I could probably use it as extra closet space." Jonathan shrugged his arms again, and tossed his shield back onto the bed. [1/5] Jonathan then picked up the shield style book, and quickly flipped to the techniques section. He had skipped a skill or two to learn the shield boomerang, so he flipped back to the technique that came right after the shield bash. What he found was a promising title "Feint". [2/5] "The user goes into a more relaxed state to give the impression their guard has been let down. This provokes the enemy into attacking and they then make a quick movement to disarm their opponent with the shield by smashing it against the weapon when the enemy goes for an attack." Jonathan read out the description and thought about it a little. He liked this skill because it required to a little acting, and using deception to pull off. Also it sounded easy to practice. [3/5] After studying the actual attack of the skill, Jonathan got up, and strapped the shield to his left arm. He practiced how to appear in a relaxed state, leaving himself open. Then when his imaginary opponent was about to attack him, Jonathan lashed out and smashed his shield against the imaginary weapon. [4/5] Jonathan kept on practicing with the shield on his left arm for a while before switching with his other arm. He also practiced trying to seem like he didn't really know how to handle the shield. Eventually he thought he had it down pretty well, and stopped practicing. ۞Jonathan Haste۞ Jonathan rolled his shoulders, and tossed the shield back onto the bed. He picked up the book, and flipped it back to the technique section. "Alright lets what I have left to learn."[1/5] Surprisingly enough there was only one other technique left. All the others after it were level restricted. The closest of which was level 4. "Kind of a let down." He said to his self. [2/5] The last skill was called the shield charge and it's description was as followed. The user charges forward with their shield. They go for a bash and then lift their shield at the last second to stab or otherwise wound the enemy. The momentum of this skill adds to the power of the shield, causing broken bones unto the opponent. [3/5] Jonathan liked this skill because it seemed like it had the possibility of doing a lot of damage. So he got up, strapped the shield onto his left arm, and went to one side of the room. He then proceeded to practice the technique over and over again, switching to the opposing wall when he ran out of room. [4/5] Once Jonathan had the hang of it, he took the shield off and switched it to his other side. He then practiced it with the shield on that side, going towards one wall, and then doubling back when he ran out of room. After a while he got used to it with that arm too, and believed that he had learned the skill pretty well. [5/5] shield charge learned Ω [Level 1][Energy: 350] Ω

۞Jonathan Haste۞ Jonathan took the shield off of his arm, and then strapped it onto his back. He had spent alot of time learning the skills for his shield, but real way to know if he could apply it well. Maybe if he had a match with someone, he would be able to find out for sure. Jonathan leaned down to his bed, grabbed both the rock, and the book he had procured from the library, and put them in his pocket. Once he was ready, he left the room to find someone to spar with. Li Zhen walked up to his room and stopped for a few moments to read the poster stuck on the door. Super powers...interesting, he would like that. Although, the small print indicating possible side effects did put him off a little. Still, super powers didn't sound bad at all, in fact it sounded like it could be quite interesting. He bent down to pick up a box that had his name labelled on it, leaving Jonathan's alone since he knew his roommate would come by later anyway.
He walked over to his bed and sat down, opening the box. Inside was a large syringe along with a menacing looking yellow liquid, and he assumed that he was supposed to inject that if he wanted his super powers. Taking a deep breath, Li Zhen clenched his fist several times to raise a vein, and without further hesitation he emptied the contents of the syringe into the vein in the crook of his elbow. Instantly, he felt as though he had injected himself with ice, and could feel the cold spreading from his arm throughout his body. He fell onto his bed and bit his own arm to suppress any groans of discomfort. After what seemed like an eternity, the icy cold feeling finally passed and he slowly got up, holding his head as he walked to class. ◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣◥◣ I'M LOSING YOU IN ME

۞Jonathan Haste۞ Jonathan walked back to his dorm room door, and noticed that on floor next to it, was a package marked for him. Overcome by curiosity, he lifted up the box and took of the lid right there in the hallway, rather than bringing it into his dorm room first. Inside he found a rather large syringe filled with some yellow liquid. This must be the Gene-X thing. He thought as he opened the his door, and went inside his room. Kicking the door shut behind him, Jonathan took out the syringe from the box, and threw the box into the trash can that he kept in the corner. He stared at the sickly yellow liquid, and couldn't help but smile. All his life, Jonathan had been bored. Day by day, it was the same old thing. Going to a normal school, hang out with his normal friend, and come home to a normal family. His entire existence was just a dreary thing that he could have anywhere else on this planet. The only time he was ever amused was when he read his fantasy, and martial arts novels. In there he could find and experience things that he couldn't in normal life. Magic, aliens, monsters, adventures, rivals, life and death situations. But now, in this strange school, they offered him something that he could only read about. Something that he could have only dreamed about. With this syringe, he could do things that only an infinitesimal amount had the ability to. Something like magic, and super powers. And he was going to use it. Jonathan sat down on his bed, and placed the syringe right next to him. He had his blood taken on multiple occasions before, so he had an idea how one would go about putting needles into a vein. But he didn't think that he would ever have to do it on himself. He started off by rubbing at the crook of his elbow, moving around the vein so that he could see just where it was. Once he could see it fairly easily, he fished out an orange hilighter from his backpack, and marked two lines on his arm to outline where the vein was. After putting the marker back in his backpack, Jonathan took the syringe, and laid the needle directly between the two lines that he had drawn. He felt a sharp pinch as he slowly slide the needle into his vein, and then pressed down on the plunger, releasing the yellow liquid into his system. Then the strangest thing happened. He could almost feel the liquid spread through out his body, nearly freezing him wherever it went. Almost like he had injected himself with ice water. He slowly took out the needle and tossed the syringe over to the trash can. Jonathan was left shivering for a few minutes, but it eventually went away. Left with nothing to do, he took off his clothes, slipped into bed, and went to sleep. Ω [Level 1][Energy: 350] Ω

Well, it served the purpose at least, although the most he would be able to do is to knock someone out, and not make any cuts.
He flicked open to the first page, and read through the first skill. The most basic skill of all, it consisted of swinging the rock or the scythe towards the enemy. [1/3]
Li did a few swings to get himself acquainted with his new weapon, then tried swinging only the weighted end. He aimed for the post of his bed and threw the rope, sending the rock flying and wrapping around the bed post. [2/3]
He switched ends and tried swinging the sickle instead of the rock. Aiming for another bed post, he threw the rope and the sickle wrapped neatly around the bed leg. [3/3] Ankle biter / breaker learnt ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬ ▬▬▬ I'M LOSING YOU IN ME 「L E V E L 1」X「M A I N S T Y L E」X「3 5 0 / 3 5 0」XX

This one was called Toe Crusher, and from the name it sounded quite painful. [1/5]
Li read over the description a few times, going over the diagrams that depicted how to correctly manoeuvre yourself to get the timing right. He had to swing the weight, or in his case the rock, either over his head towards the enemy's foot, or from the ground in a sweeping action to break the toe. [2/5]
Li took the Kusarigama and did a few experimental swings, practising swinging over his head and getting used to the feeling of the weapon above his head. [3/5]
Once that was done, he bent down and practised sweeping his arms across the floor. The rock and rope followed his arm's movements, swinging in a linear pattern across the bedroom floor. [4/5]
As he got himself accustomed to the swinging patterns, Li let out more of the rope and started swinging for real. Raising his arm over his head, he swung the kusarigama in a few circles above his head then brought his arm downwards. The rock followed the movements like a whip, and hit the floor with a crack, burying itself into the wooden floor. Li went over to the rock and dug it out of the floor, noticing a small hope in the floor. Oh well, Jonathan made a hole in the wall so we're equal. The name was snake bite, and from the name he guessed that it was time to use the sickle instead of the weight. [1/5]
Li read over the skill a few times, twirling the sickle in his hand to get a feel of the weapon and to get used to swinging the blade instead of the weight. [2/5]
However, the book said that due to centrifugal force, usually the sickle is not swung and only thrown, as it would do little to no damage when thrown. Usually it would just bounce off armour, and has little power in the attack. [3/5]
Holding the wooden sickle in his hand, Li tossed it into the air by the handle a few times, practising gentle throws at first. If this was a real stainless steel sickle, he had no doubt that he would end up with numerous cuts on his palm before he managed to master this. [4/5]
When he finally felt confident enough, he took the sickle by the handle and practised throwing it at his pillow. Since it was made of wood it didn't do anything but bounce off, and he wasn't using all his strength. In a real battle, if he used all his strength he knew that it would raise a big lump on the opponent's head, and probably knock them out or stun them. [5/5] Snake Bite learnt
Li flicked over the page to the next skill. The name sounded interesting, Snapless. The first thing that jumped to Li's head was a snapper fish, but he quickly pushed it away as he knew it was irrelevant. [1/5]
Reading over the skill a few times, Li took the rock in his hand and tossed it casually into the air while his eyes scanned through the page. [2/5]
He had two ways to use the skill, either by throwing the rock directly or swinging the rope to aim the rock at the opponent. Li read through the diagrams on the skills book, memorising the stances and positioning. [3/5]
When he was confident enough to try, Li propped up his pillow and positioned it so that it would be approximately where his opponent's hand would be. [4/5]
Taking the rock in his hand, Li threw it towards the pillow. It landed with a loud thud, but he didn't put all his strength in the attack as he knew he would probably break his pillow if he did. [5/5] Snapless learnt
The next skill was pretty straight forward, being called wrap. Li read over the short description a few times to make sure he did not miss anything, and picked up his Kusarigama to practice/ [1/5]
Since he was supposed to wrap it around a person's limb, Li figured that his bed post would be good enough to use. The post was about where a person's wrist would be, so Li had to aim for that spot. [2/5]
Taking a few steps away from his bed, Li swing the rock above his head a few times before throwing it at the bed post. [3/5]
The first couple of times he missed, but as he continued he found himself wrapping around the bed post easier. He just had to imagine that a person was standing in front of him, and had to keep his eyes locked and focused on the bed post. [4/5]
When he finally mastered it with his right hand, Li switched hands so that he was throwing with his left hand. Since his right hand was dominant, he found it more difficult with his left but eventually mastered it. [5/5] Wrap learnt ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬ ▬▬▬ I'M LOSING YOU IN ME 「L E V E L 1」X「M A I N S T Y L E」X「3 5 0 / 3 5 0」XX

It sounded quite similar to the previous skill Wrap, and the book said that the previous skill was needed to learn this one. [1/5]
Li read through the description and diagrams a few times. It seemed that there were two ways to perform this skill, either by looping it around the opponent's neck directly or by throwing the weighted end at the opponent's neck, possibly choking them. [2/5]
Li read through a few more times before picking up his kusarigama. He did a few experimental swings, this time not over his head but by his side to get a feel of this skill. [3/5]
Once he was satisfied, he walked over to the bed post and sat down in front of it. If he sat down, the bed post was eye level, meaning it would be where the opponent's neck would be. He practised looping it around the bed post several times. [4/5]
Once he was satisfied, he took a few steps away from the bed post and practiced throwing the rock at it. It was more difficult as he had to swing the rope in the correct manner, but he managed it in the end. [5/5] Constrict learnt
The skills starting from the next page were more difficult, as the book warned. As soon as Li saw the first skill, he immediately knew why. This skill, when used with a real kusarigama, would definitely be lethal - not with a wooden scythe though. [1/7]
Li studied the skill description several times, taking note of the important words. He had to aim for high, middle and low almost simultaneously, as when enhanced with Ki the speed of the spinning weighted end would be greater. [2/7]
Without holding the kusarigama, Li clenched his fist as though he was holding a real sickle, and aimed his fist precisely where the opponent's neck, chest and stomach would be. [3/7]
After he practiced a few more times, he felt confident enough to practice with a kusarigama. He took the wooden scythe in his hand and practiced slashing at the opponent's neck, chest and stomach a few times. [4/7]
After a few minutes of practising the slashes, Li let out some of the rope and started to practise swinging the rope to slash with the sickle. [5/7]
The skill had to involve putting energy into the rope to accelerate its spinning. This was something Li had never done before, so he sat down on the bed and concentrated on trying to put his Ki into the rope. [6/7]
A few minutes passed and his rope started to glow a pale turquoise. Li took the rope and started spinning it, and to his surprise it did indeed swing much quicker than before. [7/7] Reaping learnt
Li turned to the next skill, and to his surprise it was a defensive skill. He didn't know that the kusarigama could be used as a defensive weapon, and decided to give it a try. [1/7]
The book denoted that the weighted end of the weapon, in his case the meagre rock, should be spun quickly. This would produce a shield that would block most C rank attacks, but drains C rank of Ki. [2/7]
It was a costly skill, but would be worth it if he ever got into such a situation. As he had done just now, Li transferred his Ki into the rope, making it glow pale blue. [3/7]
As the rope began to glow brighter, Li practiced spinning the weighted end quickly. The rock whizzed through the air as it was nothing but a dark gray blur. [4/7]
Even though he was spinning it quickly, Li could see that it still wasn't fast enough as he could see gaps in the spinning where his Ki did not reach. Since the defensive skill was all about Ki, Li decided to let his arm rest and try again in a few minutes. [5/7]
During the few minutes of break, he went through the diagrams one more time. The weak point was that he could only deflect from one side, but as long as his body moved along it won't be a problem. [6/7]
Li took up the kusarigama again and let out more of the rope so that the shield could be bigger. He put his Ki into his weapon, making the whole thing glow light blue as he spun. The shield easily covered his head and whole torso, as well as most of his legs apart from his feet. [7/7] Shield Spin learnt
The next skill was more lethal, instead of putting ki into the chain, or in his case the rope, he was to put ki into the sickle itself, making it longer and sharper. [1/7]
Li read through the description a few times, looking at the diagrams to make sure he got it right. It would require finer control this time, as he was only putting ki into the blade and not the rope. [2/7]
Deciding to give it a go, Li sat on his bed and held his weapon in both hands. He tried to let his ki flow into the blade, but flowed into the whole weapon instead. [3/7]
As soon as the whole kusarigama was covered in ki, Li tried to condense it into the blade. Slowly but surely, the ki began to move and concentrate into one area. [4/7]
A few minutes later, only the wooden sickle was condensed with his ki. He held it in his hand and swung it around a few times, slashing at invisible enemies as he tried to get a feel of the weapon. [5/7]
When he was satisfied, he took the sickle by the handle and slashed at the wall, to see what the effect would be. To his dismay, it left a deep, sizeable blade hole in the wall, right next to where Jonathan's shield hole was. [6/7]
He decided to ignore it for now and concentrate on his training. Taking the weapon by the rope, he swung it over his head and practiced swinging at imaginary enemies. If someone was standing in front of him, they would end up with probably shallow cuts since the scythe was wooden. If it was real, their heads would probably be chopped off. [7/7] Extension learnt
Li flicked over to the next skill. The next skill was quite similar to shield spin, by putting his ki into the chain, he could make it move according to his wishes, a bit like controlling a living thing. [1/7]
Li read over the description several times, but it didn't tell him a lot. There were no diagrams to tell him what to do either, so he guessed that he should start working straight away. [2/7]
Sitting cross legged on his bed, Li took the weapon in his hand and tried to focus his ki onto the rope. A few moments later, the rope began to glow pale turquoise like before. [3/7]
A few minutes later, he twirled the rock above his head to get a feel and do a warm up first. The chain did indeed feel lighter, and he began to feel as though it was an extension of his arm instead of a weapon. [4/7]
Li then tried to twirl it sideways, along his body and spinning it vertically. It wasn't as difficult as before, and the weight felt as though it was nothing. [5/7]
Li then threw the weight into the air, and tried to control its movements with his mind. He didn't throw it too hard in case the control didn't work, and watched as it rose into the air. [6/7]
The moment it almost touched the ceiling, Li made the chain turn and drop back down. When it was about eye level, he made the chain slash sideways at an imaginary enemy in front of him. [7/7] Chain Control learnt
The last in the list of C ranks was Side Splitter. The name sounded interesting, Li had to admit. His eyes scanned through the page as he read the description carefully, not wanting to miss any detail. [1/7]
This technique was different from all the others so far. Instead of throwing the sickle straight at the opponent, he had to throw it slightly to the side in order to miss the opponent. In a fight, this could be useful as he could pretend that he wasn't aiming to kill. [2/7]
He read through the diagrams carefully before picking up the kusarigama, tossing the sickle into the air a few times before putting his ki into the rope, making it glow pale turquoise. [3/7]
First of all, he had to practice aiming it towards the opponent's side in order to make it seem like he missed. He narrowed one eye at the bed post, his only training tool, trying to judge the distance. [4/7]
When he was satisfied, he took the sickle by the handle and threw it towards the bed post. The sickle nearly missed, but bounced off the metal at the last minute. [5/7]
He tried again and this time the sickle just missed by a hair's breadth, exactly what he was aiming for. The sickle continued to travel until it almost touched the wall behind the bed. [6/7]
Just before the sickle collided, Li gave a gentle tug of the chain. The sickle came whistling back, bouncing off the bed post before flying straight back into his hand. [7/7] Side Splitter learnt
Satisfied with his training, Li took his weapon and his breath fresheners and left the dorms. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬ ▬▬▬ I'M LOSING YOU IN ME 「L E V E L 1」X「M A I N S T Y L E」X「3 5 0 / 3 5 0」XX
