Esui looked over the ocen, his golden eyes watching the waves, his ears listening to the sea's song to the wind, and the wind's answer over the cliffs. The rain had stopped for now, but the grey clouds still lingered, as did the misty fog.

The outlander sat perfectly motionless, his tail arched over his left shoulder, his front paws in perfect line with his back ones, his hunches not quiet touching the seaweed covered rocks, his breathing deep and even. He let himself feel this land, this place, and the energy that moved over it.

His body told him today it lived, his mind told him today it was at peace. His chi told him today, he was balanced with all that was within him and without.

The earth told him, today was a good day...

The wound over his nose was healing well, the scars would barely be noticeable once the fur grew back. Just as the older scars that littered his young body had mostly been lost under the tan and brown patterning of his coat. The deeper slash marks in his side were still scabbed over, but so far were acting as they should and aside from the stiffness of the thickened skin, he was moving more or less normally again.

Of course, with less pain to act as a distraction he was finding himself bored and had spent the morning in practice. But after grabbing a quick bite to eat he had slowly become more and more interested in knowing weather or not that bright yellow youth was still hanging about the beach. He hadn't been able to get the strange lion out of his head, the way he moved was unlike anything Lucivar had ever seen and it fascinated him. He was determined to meet the male again and fight with him, hopefully the stranger would gain his acceptance to the pride soon and Lucivar would have the opportunity to study from him. The more he knew about different techniques, the better in his opinion, as to be prepared was to avoid unnecessary embarrassment and knowledge was power, especially in battle.

Finally giving up on any further distractions, the young reaver turned and made his way down to the beach, pale blue eyes seeking the vivid yellow of his last challenger.

The golden lion flicked his ear back, listening to the approaching paw steps. He did not turn toward it, having decided that the Pride here was honorable enough not to attack him from behind.

He kept his body still, letting the song die down around him. When he was settled, he stood, the movement fluid, graceful. Esui turned, his golden eyes searching the spot where his visitor should be breaking the cliff and its line of trees.

Lucivar had his own path from the cliff-top to the beach, one he had picked as a youth and after it had finished being a training tool, Lucivar had seen no reason to stop using it. So when he reached the top of the cliff he paced along the edge for a few strides before appearing to take a suicidal leap off the edge. But in truth he knew exactly what he was doing as his front paws landed neatly on a tiny jut of rock that was more or less invisible unless you already knew where it was. Bouncing from front feet to back he took another huge leap, landing once more on a tiny ledge before twisting neatly and leaping again. In this manner the sleek brown figure made his way in a zig-zag pattern down an almost sheer cliff-face, to land neatly at the bottom with a little poof of sand. Stepping forwards, seeming unconcerned by the gymnastic feat he had just completed, Lucivar paced down the slopped pebble beach to the shoreline.

He had spotted the yellow shape from the top of the cliff, but he was not the type of lion to just march up and bother someone who seemed to be occupied, so instead he stood, head throw up and gaze directed out over the ocean, enjoying the feel of the chill salt-laden wind ruffling his rapidly thickening mane and caressing along his lean body. The cold touch soothed the low throb of his healing wounds, the long deep slashes that traced the side of his flank had been given by another Challenger, a dark lion by the name of Ruzanski who had drawn in his dual against Lucivar not a week before and had become the pride's newest member.

Eusi regarded his visitor with his calm amber colored eyes for a few moments before inclining his head to him and bowing his shoulders in the same gesture of respect he had shown before. It was clearly a welcome for all it was silent. The golden youth was capable of speech, he choose not to shatter the morning's peace with it,there were other ways to communicate that were just as eloquent.

Eusi gestured with his paw to his makeshift camp, the remains of a kill carefully preserved, as well as a hollowed out turtle shell that held clean rain water within it. The young lion had been taught to offer hospitality to those that came to your home, and at the moment, this was his.

Sensing the yellow male looking across at him, Lucivar turned his head and dipped it in a slow movement, returning the silent greeting given. The offer of a meal was certainly a surprise and Lucivar couldn't help but raise a brow in question, but obligingly he rose from his spot and turned, padding over to the small camp and after another look at the stranger, he allowed himself to settle down on one side of the kill, though waited there for the rogue to join him.

The situation was strange to say the least, being offered to feast beside someone who had Challenged was hardly the usual procedure. But Lucivar was as much polite as the golden-coated stranger and he was not going to act like a pig-headed barbarian, even if that was the reputation his pride had earned itself in the eyes of less-than-friendly rivals and rogues.

Eusi glided over to his morning meal, his paws barely leaving a mark in the wet sands as he did. Even though he was lighter, less bulky, than the lions that called the cliffs their home, he still should have left behind some kind of imprint. The male more glided than walked, a balanced, even grace to his movements that was unlike anything native to the area.

Settling down to the neatly eviscerated carcass, he waved a paw over to the other young male and bent his muzzle to eat, content to have his breakfast with his opponent, rather than eating alone.

Puzzled and more than a little confused by his opponent's actions, he nevertheless felt no malice of danger from the yellow male for the time being, and Lucivar had long ago learned to trust his instincts. So, with an aware but relaxed eye on the other male he bent his head to eat.

The stormborn ate calmly with an assurance of a seasoned warrior yet he wasn't messy as many would have expected. He ate his fill but no more, for a full belly would only hinder his movements in the battle to come. Stretching out his head he lapped at the shell full of water, taking a few mouthfuls to clean the taste of blood from his maw, another simple act that had military reasoning, allowing him to smell and taste his opponent and avoided the distraction of the hunt or further hunger.

Once done he settled back and waited patiently for his companion to finish his breakfast, content to watch the ocean in its endless cycle.

Eusi ate much like his companion, taking in only enough to ease the pangs of hunger, but not enough to slow or sicken him during the battle to come. Once finished, he washed his muzzled and mouth clean, and oddly enough, his paws and forelimbs, cleaning the bright blood from his golden fur.

When he was sure that the cliff born lion was finished with both meal and water, he placed some of the offal within the turtle shell and carried to the side of his little camp, leaving it for the ancestors, and offering his silent prayers for their strength in the fight ahead.

Turning, he faced the young Reaver, his amber eyes calm, waiting his pleasure for the Challenge, and the right to become one of them.

Lucivar watched the yellow male quietly, head tilting slightly as the stranger went about making an offering, for Lucivar knew enough to recognize the small gift for what it was. Finally, when the golden male appeared to be done, Lucivar stood and stretched out his body with a low, relaxed grumble. Straightening he turned and after glancing back at the other youth, he set off a short way up the beach, so they wouldn't destroy the rogue's camp.

Settling on a large patch of open stone beach with a rare lack of sharp, ankle twisting boulders, the young reaver turned and faced his opponent, patiently waiting for the other to join him in the 'arena'.

"Do you wish to Challenge for entry to the Myrsky Syntynyt?"

Eusi followed the young lion, studying him with sharp eyes, watching how he moved. The Reaver was surprisingly agile for his size, deceptively so, he would need to remember that should they end up closing again. He did not have the bulk the older male Eusi had fought for his earlier Challenges had, but he would someday. However, for now, this meant he would be quicker. Esui had under estimated him last time, a mistake he would not make again.

His amber eyes swept over the chosen 'arena' pleased that the other male had taken the time to consider both their well being by steering them clear of the loose boulders and sharp rocks. This Reaver was not all brawn, there was brain behind those ice blue eyes. This was a lion another could follow, a lion you could move into battle with.

When he spoke, Esui nodded, his voice low, yet still easily heard over the surf and wind, " My wish this is."

A slight smile twitched Lucivar's muzzle at the reply and he dipped his head in acceptance. "Good luck, I feel you would be an asset to our pride." Knowing he probably sounded like a complete idiot, considering he was about to do his best to beat this stranger, he still had wanted the yellow lion to know that Lucivar wanted him to win. The stormborn were taught to recognize strength and battle prowess and Lucivar knew that this male could offer something new to the reavers. Not that the knowladge would make him go easy on the rogue before him, for that would defeat the whole point of a Challenge. On the contrary, Lucivar was eager to test them both in this duel and had been looking forward to this rematch since their last encounter.

Moving to the far side of their 'arena', he took a deep breath and relaxed his whole body, letting himself fall into the headspace from which he fought. It was almost like static in his mind, where his senses reached outwards rather than inwards and all of a sudden he could feel the tiny shifts in the air about him, hear the measured, even breathing of the yellow male across the sand, and could see the minute shifts the other made as they stood seemingly as still as statues.

Suddenly Lucivar launched himself across the sand, lithe, powerful body going from nothing to pure power in an instant. Three strides and he was on the other male. Leaping he twisted in mid-air, bringing his claws down with the intention of gouging out the male's flank on his far side.

Eusi looked over at the young Reaver, a rare smile coming to his muzzle. He found himself liking this lion, and hoped that should he manage to win his Challenge, that he and him could learn from each other.

As the other male moved to his 'side' of the area, Eusi closed his eyes, steadied his breath, and relaxed his shoulders, recalling the peace of the morning and the meal they had just shared. The next few moments would decide if he left these cliffs, or if he remained and took a place among them.

Opening them, he brought his weight to the balls of his paws, waiting for the attack. He did not need to wait long. In the span of a few breaths the other male was on him, and Eusi was sidestepping to try and dance out of the way.

He was late on his timing, and knew his block would fall short. Rather then lose the opportunity presented by the Reaver closing with him, Esui turned his flack into the attack, taking the blow almost full on as he twisted under the larger male, his claws coming to rake along his soft under belly as he moved through, rolling onto his shoulder and back onto his paws behind his opponent.

He felt his claws sink into the pale yellow hide as he pounced, his lithe body twisting away from the other's counterattack, yet just as he went to twist the half-healed claw marks along his flank burned with pain as the skin stretched tight with his movements. The unexpected pain made him loose concentration for just a split second but it was enough that he felt his opponent's claws score across his belly. Forced to release his own grip to avoid being gutted, he landed hard but rolled swiftly, coming to his paws facing the other male. Blood seeped from his old wounds and he felt dampness along his underside but the wound there was only a flesh wound and wouldn't slow him down further.

Pale ice-blue eyes remained fixed on the yellow lion, waiting for his next move.

He would bare a scar from that strike, and a limp, if he did not attend to it properly, Esui's mind supplied him for the brief moment that the injury registered. Then the golden lion was faced off again with the other.

Deciding to use the wound to his advantage, he shifted his weight to the left side as he moved forward to strike with his fore paw, as if attacking from the front and from his non-wounded side. When he was close enough to close, Eusi, slid right from center, crouching down to his belly and sweeping out with his right back leg, sweeping it, claws extended to take the Reaver off his paws.
